M:Jenny,
what's
for
lunch
at
the
cafeteria
today?
W:Mushroom
soup,
chicken
sandwiches,
and
potatoes
with
carrots.
M:Sounds
fine,
but
it
doesn't
get
better
than
yesterday's
pizza.

W:Lucas,
can
you
put
down
whatever
it
is
you
are
doing
and
give
me
a
hand
with
this
heavy
kitchen
waste?
M:Do
you
think
you
could
give
me
a
couple
of
minutes
to
finish
what
I
am
reading?
I'm
almost
finished.

it's

already.I'll
have
to
go.I
have
a

to
catch

7:30.
W:OK,
I'll
meet
you
at
the
restaurant
after
work.I
finish
at
5:00
pm,
but
allow
me
an
hour
to

there.

M:What
is
this
thing
for?
I've
never
understood
why
it's
necessary.It's
not
like
I'm
ever
going
to
use
it.
W:It's
just
a
little
decoration
for
your
suit.All
you
need
to
do
is
fold
it
like
this,
and
put
it
in
the
breast
pocket.

W:Have
you
seen
my
wedding
ring?
I
took
it
off
when
I
washed
my
hands
at
my
sister's
house,
and
I
can't
remember
seeing
it
after
that.
M:It's
OK.I
have
it.Your
sister
gave
it
to
me
before
we
came
home
but
I
forgot
all
about
it.

M:I
must
lose
some
weight.I
stepped
on
the
weighing
machine
just
then
and
saw
I
weighed
half
a
kilo
more
than
I
did
last
week.
W:Maybe
there
is
something
wrong
with
the
machine.
M:I
don't
think
so.I
haven't
done
much
exercise
recently
and
I
did
eat
a
lot
of
delicious
chocolate
on
holiday.
W:Oh,
did
you
go
somewhere
like
Switzerland
or
France,
where
they
make
great
chocolate?
Or
Belgium,
maybe?
M:Yes,
I
went
to
Belgium.I
just
couldn't
resist
the
local
chocolate.
W:Were
you
wearing
that
heavy
coat
when
you
weighed
yourself?
M:Yes.Would
it
make
a
big
difference?
W:Silly
man,
of
course
it
would.
M:I
think
I
must
have
had
a
guilty
conscience
about
all
that
Belgian
chocolate.

W:Now
I've
heard
everything!
My
dad
said
he's
going
back
to
college.
M:Jane,you're
kidding.
W:No,
he
said
he
had
always
wanted
to
learn
French.
He
was
good
at
mathematics
as
a
child
so
his
parents
made
him
study
that
at
college,
which
was
why
he
became
an
engineer.
M:But
now
he
wants
to
study
French?
W:Yes.He
and
Mom
have
always
liked
visiting
France
and
now
since
he's
retired,
he
wants
to
travel
there
more
often
and
communicate
with
the
people.
M:It's
good
that
he's
making
plans,
but
don't
you
think
he
should
be
taking
it
easy
in
retirement
instead
of
studying
books
and
doing
exams?
W:Well,
he
gave
up
work
last
year
and
now
I've
left
home
and
have
a
family.Perhaps
he
needs
something
to
keep
his
mind
occupied.
M:Perhaps
you're
right,
if
it's
something
he
enjoys.

W:I
heard
you
got
in
an
accident
yesterday.Are
you
all
right?
M:Yeah,
thanks.The
wound
is
pretty
painful
right
now,
but
I'm
feeling
a
lot
better
than
I
did
yesterday.
W:What
happened?
M:It
was
stupid.The
whole
thing
was
my
fault.I
was
trying
to
talk
on
my
phone
while
I
was
riding
my
bike.
W:So
you
were
riding
your
bike
with
one
hand?
M:Yeah.I
wasn't
even
looking
in
front
of
me.Then
at
the
last
second
I
tried
to
avoid
a
tree,
and
I
went
head
first
over
my
bike
handles.
W:Were
you
wearing
a
helmet?
M:Luckily,
I
ended
up
hurting
my
wrists
when
I
tried
to
stop
my
fall.
W:What
about
your
bike?
M:The
front
tire
is
flat
and
my
handles
are
bent.It
will
take
at
least
a
couple
of
weeks
for
me
to
get
it
fixed.
W:Will
you
be
able
to
play
basketball
this
week?
M:I'll
miss
tomorrow's
game,
but
I'll
be
able
to
play
on
Friday.
W:That's
good
news,
at
least.
Text

W:What
day
is
the
rubbish
collected?
M:Let's
see.It's
Tuesday
today,
so
it
will
be
the
day
after
tomorrow.
W:I'll
be
out
that
day,
so
could
you
sort
out
the
recycling
for
me?
There
are
three
bags—green,
red
and
blue.General
waste
goes
in
the
blue
one,
plastic
in
the
red
one
and
paper
in
the
other.
M:What
do
they
do
with
all
this
stuff?
W:The
paper
can
be
processed
to
make
more
paper.The
general
waste
is
buried
and
they
can
make
things
out
of
the
stuff
in
the
red
bag.That's
how
they
make
those
warm
jackets,
I
believe.
M:I
get
the
feeling
that
we
could
do
a
lot
more
with
waste
if
we
saw
its
true
value.In
some
poor
countries,
they
make
all
sorts
of
things
from
old
junk.I
used
to
have
a
toy
car
made
in
Africa
from
old
tin
cans
and
I've
seen
shoes
made
from
old
tires.
W:I
quite
agree.We
are
far
too
wasteful.Even
in
my
parents'
day
people
used
to
repair
things.Now
almost
everything
gets
thrown
away
when
it's
damaged.
But
you
know
what?I
would
actually
like
to
buy
some
of
those
shoes
you
mentioned.

We
have
some
good
news
in
the
story
of
the
shark
attack
just
off
the
coast
of
Florida
yesterday.An
8?year?old
boy
was
taken
into
a
Florida
hospital
with
severe
injuries.He
is
now
in
stable
condition
though.At
around
8:00
last
night,
Phil
Anderson
was
swimming
with
his
nephew
Jesse
Anderson
just
off
the
shore
at
Langdon
Beach.When
he
heard
Jesse's
screams,
he
immediately
knew
what
had
happened.Jesse
had
been
bitten
by
a
shark.When
he
pulled
Jesse
to
shore,
he
noticed
that
Jesse's
arm
had
been
bitten
off.Now
this
is
when
the
story
gets
really
interesting.The
man
went
back
into
the
water,
hit
the
shark
in
the
nose
and
wrestled
it
back
to
shore.At
this
point,
a
nearby
police
officer
killed
it
with
his
gun
and
immediately
called
rescue
services.While
they
were
waiting
for
the
emergency
helicopter
to
arrive,
the
two
men
cut
open
the
shark,
took
out
the
arm,
and
put
it
on
ice.Instead
of
performing
an
operation
on
the
boy
right
away,
the
emergency
team
transported
the
boy
to
the
nearest
hospital
where
he
was
given
blood.
We've
just
been
told
that
the
boy
will
make
a
full
recovery
and
eventually
be
able
to
use
his
arm
again.Doctors
also
say
that
without
the
quick?thinking
of
Phil
Anderson
and
rescue
services,
Jesse
might
have
died.As
for
Langdon
Beach,
it
has
been
closed
until
further
notice.

Under
the
cold
clear
water
of
Lake
Huron,researchers
have
found
a
five?and?a?half?foot?long
piece
of
wood
that
is
8,900
years
old.
The
wood,
which
is
tapered
(使成锥形)
on
one
side
in
a
way
that
looks
deliberate,
may
provide
important
clues
to
a
mysterious
period
in
North
American
prehistory.
“This
was
the
stage
when
humans
gradually
shifted
from
hunting
large
animals
to
fishing,
gathering
and
agriculture,”
said
anthropologist
John
O'Shea.
“But
because
most
of
the
places
in
this
area
that
prehistoric
people
lived
in
are
now
under
water,
we
don't
have
good
evidence
of
this
important
shift
itself.
We
just
have
clues
from
before
and
after
the
change.”
With
support
from
the
National
Science
Foundation
(NSF)
and
the
National
Oceanic
and
Atmospheric
Administration
(NOAA),
O'Shea
and
his
colleague
Guy
Meadows
began
exploring
the
area
several
years
ago.
In
2009
they
reported
finding
a
series
of
stone
features
that
they
believe
were
“drive
lanes”
used
by
ancient
Indian
hunters.
Since
that
discovery,
O'Shea
and
Meadows
have
worked
on
identifying
human
campsites,
which
are
typically
located
away
from
hunting
areas.
On
their
25?foot
boat,
the
researchers
first
spotted
the
ancient
wood
object
using
a
small
piece
of
equipment
with
a
camera.
Then
a
team
of
divers—including
O'Shea—went
down
about
100
feet
to
get
it.
The
wood's
age
has
now
been
fixed
by
means
of
carbon
dating.
It
is
currently
undergoing
more
detailed
analyses
to
determine
whether
there
has
been
human
modification,
which
visual
examination
suggests.
“The
first
thing
you
notice
is
that
it
appears
to
have
been
shaped
with
a
rounded
base
and
a
pointed
tip,”O'Shea
said.
“It
must
have
been
created.
It
looks
like
it
might
have
been
used
as
a
tent
pole
or
a
pole
to
hang
meat.”
In
addition
to
the
wood,the
researchers
have
collected
many
other
samples
from
the
bottom
of
the
lake.O'Shea
and
his
colleagues
will
need
to
wait
for
calmer
weather
before
they
can
resume
their
search
for
evidence
of
human
life
under
the
great
lake.
这是一篇说明文。考古学家们的新发现有望印证远古人类从游猎文明到农耕文明的转变。

C
I
work
in
a
nursing
home
and
my
job
is
to
take
care
of
the
elderly.
This
year,
a
very
sweet
old
lady
that
I
cared
for,
Alice,
had
gone
through
a
difficult
time.
She
got
dementia
and
so
she
had
been
in
the
hospital
twice.
In
November
I
was
finally
able
to
get
her
back
to
her
“home”.
Alice
had
thought
her
daughter
was
coming
to
visit
her
on
Christmas
Day
and
that
they
were
going
to
have
the
whole
family
together
like
the
old
days.
When
she
finally
realized
that
that
happy
moment
was
not
going
to
happen,
she
was
very
sad.
Knowing
that
her
daughter
was
coming
after
Christmas
was
not
enough
to
make
her
feel
happy.
I
hated
the
idea
of
her
being
alone
on
the
holiday!
On
Christmas
Eve,
I
gave
her
a
surprise
by
asking
if
she
would
like
to
go
to
a
candlelight
service
at
church
that
night.
Instead
of
taking
her
to
my
church,
I
took
her
to
her
old
neighborhood
church
where
all
her
friends
were.
We
got
there
early
and
I
got
her
a
seat
where
her
friends
could
see
her
as
they
came
in.
Then
soon
some
of
her
friends
came
to
the
church
and
they
rushed
over
to
greet
her
and
sit
with
her.
The
candlelight
service
was
beautiful
and
Alice
got
a
lot
of
love
from
her
old
and
new
friends
there.
The
truth
of
the
story
is
that
I
am
the
one
who
got
the
best
gift:
the
smile
on
Alice's
face.

________.
A.a
house
B.a
letter
C.an
illness
D.a
plan
答案:C
解析:词义猜测题。根据文章第二段中的“and
so
she
had
been
in
the
hospital
twice”可推断,此处表示老人生病了,住了两次院,所以画线词dementia应是一种疾病,故选C项。
29.Where

her
Christmas
Eve
according
to
the
story?
A.In
her
old
house.
B.In
her
old
neighborhood
church.

old
neighborhood
church
where
all
her
friends
were”可知选B项。
30.What

the
author
got
on
Christmas
Eve?
A.The
candlelight
service.
B.Praise
from
Alice's
friends.
C.Alice's
happiness.
D.Thanks
from
Alice's

face”可知,作者得到的最好的礼物是Alice脸上的笑容,即她的快乐,故选C项。
31.What
is
the
best
title
for
this
passage?
A.A
special
candlelight
Christmas
Eve
B.The
dream
of
all
old
lonely
ladies
C.My
special
job
D.The
true
love
答案:A
解析:标题判断题。本文讲述了作者帮助一位老人过了一个特别的烛光平安夜的故事,故选A项。
D
Most
people
know
something
about
the
greenhouse
effect.Factories
send
gases
such
as
carbon
dioxide,or
CO2,into
the
atmosphere,the
air
around
the
earth.In
the
past,this
wasn't
a
problem
because
trees
absorbed
the
CO2.But
now
people
in
many
countries
are
cutting
down
billions
of
trees
all
around
the
world.At
the
same
time,factories
are
sending
more
CO2
into
the
atmosphere.It's
difficult
to
believe,but
factories
put
billions
of
tons
of
CO2
into
the
atmosphere
every
year.One
ton
is
over
2,000
pounds,so
it
is
a
lot
of
pollution.There
is
too
much
CO2
and
there
aren't
enough
trees,so
the
world
is
getting
warmer.In
other
words,we
have
a
greenhouse
effect.This
is
terrible
for
the
environment.
What
can
we
do
about
this?
First,
we
can
stop
using
so
much
coal
and
oil.We
can
learn
to
use
different
kinds
of
energy:
the
sun,wind,steam
from
volcanoes,and
heat
from
inside
the
earth.Second,instead
of
cutting
down
trees,we
should
plant
more
trees.One
tree
can
absorb
ten
pounds
of
carbon
dioxide
every
year.
The
trees
are
good
for
the
earth's
atmosphere
and
for
Guatemala
(拉丁美洲国家危地马拉).In
small
towns
and
villages
in
Guatemala,most
women
are
poor
and
have
hard
lives.Trees
help
them
in
three
ways.First,the
Connecticut
factories
pay
them
to
plant
the
trees.Their
pay
is
corn,not
money.The
corn
is
good
for
their
children.Second,these
women
know
a
lot
about
their
environment.They
know
where
to
plant,when
to
plant,and
what
kinds
of
trees
to
plant.For
example,they
plant
many
fruit
trees.The
fruit
gives
them
vitamins
for
their
families'
diets.Other
trees
are
good
for
firewood.In
a
few
years,the
women
won't
spend
so
much
time
looking
for
firewood.Third,all
these
trees
are
good
for
the
soil.Now
rain
can't
wash
the
soil
down
from
the
mountains
so
easily.
This
plan
isn't
enough
to
stop
the
greenhouse
effect.However,it's
a
start.The
women
of
Guatemala
are
helping
themselves
and
helping
their
environment.

32.Which
of
the
following
statement
is
NOT
true?
A.Factories
send
more
CO2
into
the
atmosphere.
B.Trees
can't
absorb
the
same
CO2
as
they
did
in
the
past.
C.Billions
of
trees
are
being
cut
down
throughout
the
world.
D.The
greenhouse
effect
is
extremely
bad
for
the
environment.
答案:B
解析:细节理解题。由文中第一段的“There
is
too
much
CO2
and
there
aren't
enough
trees”可知,是因为树木越来越少,二氧化碳越来越多,所以才无法像以前一样能吸收掉CO2,而不是因为树木的吸收力不如以前了,B选项表述错误。故B选项正确。
33.What's
the
main
idea
of
the
second
paragraph?
A.The
reasons
why
we
should
plant
more
trees.
B.Ways
we
can
adopt
to
take
heat
from
volcanoes.
C.Measures
to
be
taken
to
forbid
the
use
of
coal
and
oil.
D.Things
we
can
do
to
stop
or
reduce
the
greenhouse
effect.
答案:D
解析:段落大意题。第二段主要讲了针对温室效应的办法,包括停止煤和汽油的使用以及多种树木。故D选项正确。
34.How
does
planting
trees
help
improve
women's
lives
in
Guatemala?
A.By
preventing
the
greenhouse
effect.
B.By
developing
their
skills
of
planting
trees.
C.By
enabling
them
to
earn
more
money
to
support
their
family.
D.By
making
them
get
corn
and
fruit
to
feed
their
family
in
return.
答案:D
解析:推理判断题。由文中倒数第二段的they
plant
many
fruit
trees.The
fruit
gives
them
vitamins
for
their
families'
diets可知,这些女性种植果树可以满足他们家庭的食物,这样有利于提高他们的生活水平。故D选项正确。
35.What's
the
author's
attitude
towards
the
plan
of
planting
trees
in
Guatemala?
A.Critical.
B.Neutral.
C.Positive.
D.Doubtful.
答案:C
解析:推理判断题。根据文中倒数第二段的第一句“The
trees
are
good
for
the
earth's
atmosphere
and
for
Guatemala(拉丁美洲国家危地马拉)”以及最后一段可知,作者对于在危地马拉种植树木的态度是积极、乐观的。故C选项正确。

It
was
amazing

56.which/that
解析:考查定语从句。空处引导定语从句,先行词是talks,空处在从句中作主语,故用which或that。
57.were_organized
解析:考查动词的时态和语态。此处讲述的是过去的动作,应用一般过去时;主语是The
two
sessions,与organize是被动关系,故应用被动语态。
58.Members
解析:考查名词的数。空处前没有任何限定词,所以此处应表示泛指,故应用member的复数形式。
59.showing
解析:考查非谓语动词。空处是非谓语动词作后置定语,show与those是逻辑上的主谓关系,故用现在分词。
60.patiently
解析:考查词性转换。此处修饰谓语动词,故用副词。
61.her
解析:考查代词。她的演讲被翻译成瑞典语和俄语。故使用she的形容词性物主代词。
??62.traditional

operas,表示“传统的中国戏剧”。

sth.“使某人做某事”,experience在此作动词用,表示“经历,体验”。
64.In
解析:考查介词。in
addition意为“此外,除此之外”,相当于besides。
65.the
解析:考查冠词。on
the
spot
“当场”,是固定搭配,故填the。

答案
Paragraph
1:
There
were
beautiful
things
everywhere—pretty
china
figures
and
delicate
vases.All
the
treasures
seemed
to
boast
along
history
and
thus
priceless.“Wow,
it
is
really
a
land
of
wonder.”
Rachel
couldn't
help
admiring
the
elegance
of
the
china
figures
and
vases.Mom's
words
echoing
in
her
mind,
curiosity
still
got
the
upper
hand.She
reached
for
one
of
them,
but
unfortunately,
the
vase
slipped
off
her
hand
and
lay
in
pieces
on
the
floor.Her
heart
missing
a
beat,
she
felt
terribly
worried.
Paragraph
2:
With
a
smile,
Mrs
Willow
comforted
her;
saying
it
had
been
broken
before.Seeing
Mrs
Willow's
sharp
blue
eyes
filled
with
warmth
and
affection,
Rachel
felt
extremely
regretful
for
her
clumsy
behavior.“If
I
had
been
more
careful,
the
disaster
wouldn't
have
happened.”
Rachel
knew
what
Mrs
Willow
said
might
be
an
excuse
to
relieve
her
uneasiness
and
embarrassment.She
made
a
resolution
in
her
heart
that
from
the
day
on
she
would
never
be
so
careless
and
swore
to
be
a
kind
and
thoughtful
person
like
Mrs
Willow.
