Languages
have
been
coming
and
going
for
thousands
of
years,
but
in
recent
times
there
has
been
less
coming
and
a
lot
more
going.
When
the
world
was
still
populated
by
hunter?gatherers,small,tightly
knit(联系)groups
developed
their
own
patterns
of
speech
independent
of
each
other.
Some
language
experts
believe
that
10,000
years
ago,
when
the
world
had
just
five
to
ten
million
people,
they
spoke
perhaps
12,
000
languages
between
them.
Soon
afterwards,
many
of
those
people
started
settling
down
to
become
farmers,
and
their
languages
too
became
more
settled
and
fewer
in
number.
In
recent
centuries,
trade,
industrialisation,
the
development
of
the
nation?state
and
the
spread
of
universal
compulsory
education,
especially
globalisation
and
better
communications
in
the
past
few
decades,
all
have
caused
many
languages
to
disappear,
and
dominant
languages
such
as
English,Spanish
and
Chinese
are
increasingly
taking
over.
At
present,
the
world
has
about
6,800
languages.
The
distribution
of
these
languages
is
hugely
uneven.
The
general
rule
is
that
mild
zones
have
relatively
few
languages,
often
spoken
by
many
people,
while
hot,
wet
zones
have
lots,
often
spoken
by
small
numbers.
Europe
has
only
around
200
languages;
the
Americas
about
1,000;
Africa
2,400;
and
Asia
and
the
Pacific
perhaps
3,200,
of
which
Papua
New
Guinea
alone
accounts
for
well
over
800.The
median
number
(中位数)
of
speakers
is
a
mere
6,000,
which
means
that
half
the
world's
languages
are
spoken
by
fewer
people
than
that.
Already
well
over
400
of
the
total
of
6,800
languages
are
close
to
extinction
(消亡),
with
only
a
few
elderly
speakers
left.
Pick,
at
random,
Busuu
in
Cameroon
(eight
remaining
speakers),
Chiapaneco
in
Mexico
(150),
Lipan
Apache
in
the
United
States
(two
or
three)
or
Wadjigu
in
Australia
(one,
with
a
question?mark):
none
of
these
seems
to
have
much
chance
of
survival.
1.What
can
we
infer
about
languages
in
hunter?gatherer
times?
A.They
developed
very
fast.
B.They
were
large
in
number.
C.They
had
similar
patterns.
D.They
were
closely
connected.
2.Which
of
the
following
best
explains
“dominant”
underlined
in
Paragraph
2?
A.Complex.
B.Advanced.
C.Powerful.
D.Modern.
3.How
many
languages
are
spoken
by
less
than
6,000
people
at
present?
A.About
6,800.
B.About
3,400.
C.About
2,400.
D.About
1,200.
4.What
is
the
main
idea
of
the
text?
A.New
languages
will
be
created.
B.People's
lifestyles
are
reflected
in
languages.
C.Human
development
results
in
fewer
languages.
D.Geography
determines
language
evolution.

Most
of
the
sandstorms
that
had
swept
China
last
year
came
from
foreign
land,
a
Chinese
official
in
charge
of
desertification
(荒漠化)
control
said
on
Monday.
And
the
invasions
(入侵)
could
partly
explain
the
frequent
sandstorms
in
the
country
in
recent
years
despite
its
achievements
in
desertification
control.
Since
the
start
of
last
spring,
the
north
and
northwestern
Chinese
regions
had
been
hit
by
17
sandstorms,
of
which,
a
dozen
came
from
foreign
land.
Situated
in
the
central?Asia
sandstorm
region,
one
of
the
world's
four
largest
sandstorm
sources,
China
also
suffers
from
sandstorms
from
outside
the
country
while
being
blamed
as
a
sand
source
to
northeast
Asia.
The
other
three
major
sources
are
in
Africa,
North
America
and
Australia.
The
land
suffering
from
desertification
has
been
decreasing
by
7,585
square
kilometres
annually
in
China,
and
the
area
of
sandy
land
has
also
been
falling
by
1,284
square
kilometres
a
year.
The
shrinkage
(收缩)
forms
a
clear
contrast
to
the
fact
that
the
land
suffering
from
desertification
and
sandy
feature
was
added
by
10,400
square
kilometres
and
3,436
square
kilometres
late
last
century,
respectively.
Currently,
the
desertification
land
in
China
makes
up
2.64
million
square
kilometres,
accounting
for
27.46
percent
of
the
nation's
land,
and
its
sandy
land
totals
1.74
million
square
kilometres,
accounting
for
18.1
percent
of
the
country's
total.
5.What
does
the
underlined
word
“decreasing”
mean
in
Paragraph
4?
A.Going
down.
B.Going
up.
C.Coming
from.
D.Taking
up.
6.Where
do
most
of
the
sandstorms
in
China
come
from?
A.The
northwestern
Chinese
regions.
B.The
northern
Chinese
regions.
C.The
western
part
of
China.
D.Foreign
countries.
7.Which
of
the
following
is
believed
to
be
the
sand
source
to
northeast
Asia?
A.Mongolia.
B.Africa.
C.China.
D.Australia.
8.What
can
we
infer
from
this
passage?
A.The
land
in
China
suffering
from
desertification
has
been
increasing
greatly.
B.China
has
made
achievements
in
its
own
desertification
control.
C.The
desertification
land
makes
up
nearly
half
of
China's
territory.
D.Little
progress
has
been
made
in
controlling
desertification
in
China.

a
specific
career
goal
in
mind.
__1__
So
they
form
their

good
study
habits,
plan
ahead
and
stick
to

want
to
be
a
successful
student,
motivate
yourself

Experience
the
feeling
of
reaching
your

Outside
class
they
find
a
quiet
place
to
study,
because
they
know
that
academic
life
comes
before
their
social
life.
Set
your
goals.
After
setting
goals
it
is
important
to
write
them
down
for
many
reasons.
1.Goals
that
aren't
written
are
only
wishes.
2.It
helps
you
make
a
commitment
to
yourself.
3.__4__
4.No
one
wants
to
regret
not
doing
something
they
could
have
done.
Successful
students
manage
their
time
well
by
setting
up
weekly
timetables.
They
make
the
best
use
of
their
study
time
and
find
a
quiet
place
to
study
every
day.
__5__
Most
of
the
suggestions
mentioned
above

something
special
for
yourself.

will
be
proud
of
yourself
when
you
achieve
success.
E.They
know
that
they
are
responsible
for
their
success
or
failure.

you
set
your
goals,
make

课时作业(十)
Ⅰ.阅读理解
【语篇解读】 本文主要介绍了全球语言多样性的发展变化以及现在所面临的危机。
1.答案与解析:B 推理判断题。根据第一段的最后一句“Some
language
experts
believe
that
10,000
years
ago,
when
the
world
had
just
five
to
ten
million
people,
they
spoke
perhaps
12,000
languages
between
them.”可知,在狩猎时代,人口少,语言却很丰富,故选B。
根据第一段第二句“When
the
world
was
still
populated
by
hunter?gatherers,
small,
tightly
knit
(联系)groups
developed
their
own
patterns
of
speech
independent
of
each
other.”可知,在狩猎时代,小的紧密联系的群体发展了各自独立的语言,故C、D项错误;根据第一段的内容可知,文中未提及狩猎时代语言的发展速度,可排除A项。
2.答案与解析:C 词义猜测题。此题可从画线词后面的举例“such
as
English,Spanish
and
Chinese”着手,英语、西班牙语和汉语都是目前世界上几大语言之一,这几门语言的影响力是很大的;由此猜测,dominant与选项中的powerful最为接近。complex“复杂的”;advanced“高级的,先进的”;powerful“有影响力的”;modern“现代的”。故选C。
3.答案与解析:B 推理判断题。根据第三段的最后一句“The
median
number
(中位数)
of
speakers
is
a
mere
6,000,
which
means
that
half
the
world's
languages
are
spoken
by
fewer
people
than
that.”可知,目前全球不同语言使用人数的中位数仅是6
000,这就意味着世界上有一半的语言的使用人数不到6
000;结合第三段第一句“At
present,the
world
has
about
6,800
languages.”可知,选B。
4.答案与解析:C 主旨大意题。根据第一段第一句中的“but
in
recent
times
there
has
been
less
coming
and
a
lot
more
going”和第二段可知,随着人类社会的发展,尤其是工业化、全球化以来,很多语言已经消失,即人类的发展使得语言的种类越来越少。故选C。
【语篇解读】 近年来中国遭受严重的风沙袭击,而中国也被认为是风沙的来源之一,经过努力中国在治沙方面取得显著的效果。
5.答案与解析:A 词义猜测题。根据第四段最后的“has
also
been
falling
by
1,284
square
kilometres
a
year”可知,该词的意思是“减少”,故选A项。
6.答案与解析:D 细节理解题。根据第一段提到“Most
of
the
sandstorms
that...control
said
on
Monday.”去年袭击中国的沙尘暴来自外国,故选D项。
7.答案与解析:C 细节理解题。根据第三段“China
also
suffers
from
sandstorms...sand
source
to
northeast
Asia.”可知中国被认为是东北亚风沙的来源地,故选C项。
8.答案与解析:B 推理判断题。根据第四段提到“The
land
suffering
from...falling
by
1,284
square
kilometres
a
year.”遭受风沙袭击的土地每年减少7
585平方公里,沙地的区域一年减少了1
284平方公里,故可知控制沙漠化取得了成效,故选B项。
Ⅱ.阅读七选五
【语篇解读】 本文向读者介绍了成功的学生是如何提升学习动力并有效管理时间的。
1.答案与解析:E 根据空前“在他们心中都有具体的职业目标”,再结合空后“因此他们形成了良好的学习习惯”可知,过渡句是E项,即他们知道成败在于自己。故选E。
2.答案与解析:A 此空属于提升自己学习动力的方法之一,A项表示奖励一下自己,即每次完成一课后,为自己做一些特别的事情。故选A。
3.答案与解析:G 这里说到成功的学生在校的学习方法,认真听讲,仔细记笔记,因此G项与语境相符,早到学校,坐在前排。故选G。
4.答案与解析:B 写下设定的目标有很多理由,B项表示它能让你看到自己的进步,属于理由中的一条。故选B。
5.答案与解析:C 找一个安静的环境,每天在那里学习,这样学习会事半功倍,因此C项内容符合语境。故选C。
Ⅲ.语法填空
【语篇解读】 本文告诉我们:如果你认为你不能做某事,那么你就真的不能做这件事。永远记住,你可以做到。
1.答案与解析:really 考查副词。副词修饰动词,故答案为really。
2.答案与解析:successful 考查形容词。be动词后面用形容词作表语,故答案为successful。
3.答案与解析:hardships 考查名词的数。此处表示在旅途中你将遇到各种各样的磨难。由此可知此处用名词的复数形式,故答案为hardships。
4.答案与解析:avoiding 考查非谓语动词。此处表示没有办法避免它们。介词of后用动名词作介词的宾语,故答案为avoiding。
5.答案与解析:yourself 考查代词。句意:然而,你可能面对的最大挑战就是你自己。根据句意可知答案为yourself。
6.答案与解析:with/by 考查介词。句意:你可以通过动力实现几乎所有的梦想。根据句意可知答案为by/with。
7.答案与解析:a 考查冠词。句意:如果你从不给它一个机会,你永远也不会知道它到底有多困难或多容易。根据句意可知答案为a。
8.答案与解析:be
destroyed 考查动词的语态。句意:反过来,任何机会都注定要被“不能”摧毁。be
bound
to
do
sth.“肯定会做某事”,故此处用动词原形;根据句中“bt
a‘can't’”及句意可知此处指机会被摧毁,应用被动语态。故答案为be
destroyed。
9.答案与解析:what 考查宾语从句。此处表示把它们变成你能做的。此处是宾语从句,从句缺少引导词和宾语,故答案为what。
10.答案与解析:to
think 考查非谓语动词。句意:永远记住,你可以做到。remember
to
do
sth.“记得要去做某事”。根据句意可知答案为to
think。

which
might
show
that
an
earthquake
was
about
to
occur.
But
it
will
probably
be
many
years
before
we
can
predict
earthquakes
correctly.
And
the
control
of
earthquakes
is
even
farther
away.
However,
there
have
been
some
interesting
developments
in
the
field
of
controlling
earthquakes.
The
most
interesting
development
concerns
the
Rocky
Mountain
Arsenal
earthquakes.
Here
water
was
put
into
a
layer
of
rocks
4,000
metres
below
the
surface
of
the
ground.
Shortly
after
this
injection
(注射)
of
water,
there
was
a
small
number
of
earthquakes.
Scientists
have
decided
that
the
water
which
was
injected
into
the
rocks
worked
like
oil
on
each
other.
When
the
water
“oiled”
the
fault,
the
fault
became
slippery
and
the
energy
of
an
earthquake
was
given
out.
Scientists
are
still
experimenting
at
the
site
of
these
earthquakes.
They
have
realized
that
there
is
a
connection
between
the
injection
of
the
water
and
the
earthquake
activity.
They
have
suggested
that
it
might
be
possible
to
use
this
knowledge
to
prevent
very
big,
dangerous
earthquakes,
that
is,
scientists
could
inject
some
kind
of
fluid
like
water
into
faults
and
change
one
big
earthquake
into
a
number
of
small,
harmless
earthquakes.
5.Earthquakes

show
where
earthquakes
are
likely
to
occur
B.zones

a
high
probability
of
earthquakes
C.breaks
between
two
sections
of
the
earth's
surface
D.the
two
layers
of
earth
along
a

6.The
San
Andreas
fault
is
________.
A.an
active
fault
system
B.a
place
where
earthquakes
have
been
predicted
correctly
C.a
place
where
earthquakes
have
been
controlled
D.at
the
foot
of
the
Rocky
Mountain
7.What
did
scientists
learn
about
earthquakes
at
the
Rocky
Mountain
Arsenal?
A.They
occur
at
about
4,000
metres
below
ground
level.
B.The
injection
of
water
into
earthquake
faults
prevents
earthquakes
from
occurring.
C.They
are
usually
caused
by
the
oil
in
the
faults.
D.Harmful
earthquakes
could
be
prevented
by
causing
harmless
earthquakes.
8.What
can
be
said
about
the
experiments
at
the
Rocky
Mountain
Arsenal?
A.They
have
no
practical
value
in
earthquake
prevention.
B.They
may
have
practical
value
in
earthquake
prevention.
C.They
are
certain
to
have
practical

B
As
most
people
know,
in
the
past
few
years,
sandstorms
have
swept
across
many
cities
and
areas
of
North
China,
polluting
the
air
and
disturbing
daily
lives
of
human
beings.
People
look
dirty
and
suffer
many
kinds
of
illnesses,
such
as
breath
difficulty.
The
sandstorm
is
such
a
serious
problem
that
it
has
not
only
undermined
the
industrial
and
agricultural
development
of
our
country
but
also
caused
a
lot
of
trouble
to
the
living
conditions
of
the
Chinese
people.
It
is
expected
that
effective
(有效的)
measures
should
be
taken
as
soon
as
possible
through
our
joint
efforts
to
limit
its
occurrence.
So
what
should
we
do
with
the
frightening
sandstorms?
Some
experts
put
forward
practical
suggestions
as
follows:
For
one
thing,
more
funds
(基金)
ought
to
be
put
into
tree
planting
and
forest
protection
so
as
to
keep
more
water
resources
within
the
surface
of
the
earth.
For
another,
governments
of
all
countries
should
make
laws
on
environmental
protection.
For
example,
banning
the
use
of
throw?away
chopsticks
and
punishing
illegal
tree
cutting.
Scientists
should
also
study
and
find
ways
to
cut
down
the
degree
of
its
destruction
and
to
improve
the
whole
environment.
How
people
look
forward
to
sunny
days
with
little
breeze
(微风)
touching
their
faces
now
and
forever!
Nevertheless,
I
am
fully
confident
that
the
golden
days
can
come
back
so
long
as
everyone
tries
his
best
to
protect
natural
environment
from
today
on.
5.The
underlined
word
“undermined”
(in
Paragraph
1)
means
________.
A.weakened
B.encouraged
C.kept
D.made
6.From
the
first
paragraph,
we
can
infer
________.
A.China
has
taken
no
measures
to
prevent
sandstorms
B.sandstorms
can
cause
much
damage
to
human
beings
and
their
daily
lives
C.the
sandstorm
is
the
most
dangerous
natural
disaster
to
human
beings
D.more
sandstorms
will
happen
in
the
near
future
in
North
China
7.How
many
ways
do
some
experts
put
forward
to
fight
against
sandstorm?
A.5.
B.4.
C.3.
D.2.
8.What's
the
author's
attitude
towards
the

to
sandstorms'
problems?

How
to
take
notes
Every
student
knows
the
importance
of
taking
notes
in
class.
__1__
Adults
need
to
take
notes
in
meetings
or
training
courses
for
work.
So
here
are
some
ways
to
help
you
develop
this
important
skill.
◆Begin
with
the
date
and
the
topic
of
the
class.
This
may
seem
obvious(显而易见的),
but
it's
easy
to
forget.
__2__
◆Focus
on(集中于)
the
most
important
points.
Trying

make
you
angry.
__3__
◆If
the
speaker
uses
a
PowerPoint,
you
may
not
need
to
copy
the
slides
(幻灯片).
Ask
if
the
PowerPoint
will
be
available
(可得到的)
afterward.
If
so,
you
can
focus
on
writing
the
things
the
speaker
says
instead.
Or
you
can
take
a
picture
with
a
phone.
__4__
If
so,
print
it
out
so
you
can
write
notes
on
it.
◆__5__
This
will
give
you
the
chance
to
add
any
information
that
you
didn't
write
down.
It's
best
to
do
this
as
soon
as
possible,
so
that
you
don't
forget
anything.
This
review
will
also
increase
your
chances
of
remembering
what
you
wrote.
Note?taking
is
a
useful
skill,
so
it's
important
to
practice
doing
it
well.
A.Consider
different
note?taking
skills.
B.It
will
help
you
keep
your
notes
organized.
C.Look
over
your
notes
again
after
taking
them.
D.But
the
skill
of
note?taking
isn't
only
used
in
school.
E.Try
your
best
to
write
down
what
you
want
to
remember.
F.Instead,
listen
for
the
key
ideas
the
person
wants
to
communicate.
G.Also,
the
PowerPoint
may
be
available
before
the
class
or
meeting.

William
Kamkwamba
lives
in
Malawi,
Africa,
where
most
people
have
to
grow
their
own
food
and
have
no
electricity
or
running
water.
In
2001,
when
he
was
14
years
old,
there
was
a
terrible
drought
(干旱)
and
most
families,
including
William's,
couldn't
grow
enough
food.
Because
of
the
drought,
William's
family
couldn't
afford
to
send
him
to
school
anymore.
So
one
day,
William
went
to
the
library
near
his
home
to
study.
He
found
a
science
book
called
Using
Energy,
which
included
instructions
for
building
a
windmill
(风车).
Windmills
are
good
sources
of
electricity,
and
they
can
bring
water
up
from
underground.
William
didn't
know
much
English,
and
he
wasn't
able
to
understand
most
of
the
book,
but
it
was
full
of
pictures.
Looking
at
the
pictures,
William
thought
he
could
build
a
windmill
for
his
family.
When
William
started
building
his
windmill,
a
lot
of
people
laughed
at
him,including
his
mother.
But
William
saw
the
photo
of
the
windmill
in
the
book.
That
meant
someone
else
was
able
to
build
it,
so
he
knew
he
could
build
it,
too.
He
didn't
have
the
parts
and
equipment
that
he
saw
in
the
book's
pictures.
So
he
looked
for
parts
in
junkyards
to
build
his
machine.
William
changed
his
design
little
by
little.
First,
the
windmill
powered
only
one
light
bulb
(灯泡).
Finally,
it
powered
four
lights.
Then
there
was
enough
electricity
for
four
lights
and
a
radio.
No
one
laughed
at
William
after
that,
and
people
in
his
town
started
to
come
to
his
house
to
get
power
for
their
cell
phones.
Later,
William
built
a
second
windmill.
This
one
brought
water
up
from
underground.
After
that,
William
began
to
teach
other
people
how
to
build
windmills.
Now
he
uses
his
website,

24.What
was
William's
primary
purpose
of
building
a
windmill?
A.To
set
up
a
family
business.
B.To
do
a
science
experiment.
C.To
realize
his
childhood

D.To
bring

to

25.What
was
William's
mother's
attitude
toward
his
building
a
windmill
at
first?
A.Hopeful.
B.Worried.
C.Doubtful.
D.Uninterested.
26.What
can
we
learn
about
William's
first
windmill?
A.It
was
sold
at
a

27.Which

the
following
can

A.Honest.
B.Humorous.
C.Self?centered.

C
When
most
people
hear
the
words
“Big
Ben”
they
immediately
think
of
the
attractive
Victorian
Gothic
structure
of
the
clock
tower
of
the
Palace
of
Westminster.
Let's
clear
up
a
common
misunderstanding
first;
technically
speaking,
the
name
“Big
Ben”
does
not
refer
to
the
famous
tower,
nor
to
the
four
huge
clock
faces
of
this
London
landmark;
instead,
it
refers
to
the
largest
one
of
the
five
bells
inside
the
clock
tower.
Construction
of
the
tower
was
begun
following
the
disastrous
fire
which
destroyed
the
old
Palace
of
Westminster
in
1834.
Charles
Barry
was
responsible
for
rebuilding
the
Palace,
and
his
designs
included
a
clock
tower.
It
took
16
years
to
build
the
clock
tower
of
the
Palace
of
Westminster
and
it
was
completed
in
1859.
The
tower
is
316
feet
high.
The
spire
of
the
tower
is
built
with
an
iron
frame,
and
it
is
this
frame
that
supports
the
weight
of
the
bells.
Several
small
rooms
are
built
into
the
lower
part
of
the
tower,
including
a
small
prison
cell.
The
iron
frame
of
the
clock
face
was
designed
by
AW
Pugin,
who
was
responsible
for
many
of
the
Gothic
decorative
elements
of
the
Palace
of
Westminster.
The
dials
are
23
feet
in
diameter
and
the
faces
themselves
are
not
solid,
but
are
made
up
of
many
small
pieces
of
opal
glass,
like
a
glass
window.
Several
of
the
central
pieces
of
glass
can
be
removed
to
make
it
easier
for
people
to
check
the
hands
of
the
clock
from
inside.
At
the
time
of
its
construction
the
clock
movement
was
easily
the
largest
in
the
world,
and
it
is
still
among
the
largest
today.
The
clock,
designed
by
Edmund
Beckett
Denison,
has
proven
to
be
very
accurate
over
the
years.
Big
Ben—the
hour
bell—is
said
to
have
been
named
after
Sir
Benjamin
Hall,
who
was
known
for
his
great
size,
as
is
the
bell!
The
first
Big
Ben
hour
bell
was
completed
before
the
tower,
so
the
bell
was
hung
in
New
Palace
Yard.
After
repeated
public
ringing
the
bell
cracked
and
had
to
be
replaced
by
the
current
bell.

30.What
is
the

actually
watch
American
and
British
television
shows
and
some
learning
channels.
We
were
interested
in
discovering
what
English
learners
are
watching
to
help
them
improve
their
skills
outside
of
the
classroom.
US
political
drama
series
House
of
Cards
was
the
most
popular
TV
show
among
our
6,000
global
survey
participants,
particularly
in
China,
South
Korea
and
India.
British
period
drama
Downtown
Abbey
is
the
favourite
of
Russian
and
Japanese
respondents,
however,
learners
in
Mexico,
the
USA,
Turkey
and
Brazil
prefer
Breaking
Bad.
The
rise
of
on?demand
streaming
services
has
enabled
viewers
all
over
the
world
to
watch
shows
without
having
to
wait
for
them
to
be
broadcast
in
their
country,
which
explains
why
shows
created
especially
for
online
providers,
such
as
House
of
Cards,
have
become
so
universally
popular.
Perhaps
one
of
the
biggest
surprise
success
stories
is
Downtown
Abbey,
which
is
one
of
the
most?watched
British
TV
shows
of
all
time.
The
show,
which
explores
the
lives
of
an
aristocratic
(贵族的)
British
family
and
their
servants
during
the
early
twentieth
century,
has
been
watched
by
more
than
120
million
people
worldwide.
Downtown's
creators
didn't
expect
the
subject
matter
to
resonate
(引起共鸣)
so
well
with
global
viewers,
but
most
of
the
stories
are
about
emotional
situations
that
everyone
can
relate
to,
no
matter
where
they
are
in
the
world.
Television
programs
may
be
a
fun
way
to
improve
vocabularies
and
build
familiarity
with
genuine
dialogue
and
different
cultures,
but
in
recent
years
there
have
been
complaints
(抱怨)
that
actors
are
mumbling
(含糊地说)
their
way
through
their
lines.
Even
native
English
speakers
are
struggling
to
understand
what
they
are
watching
on
screen.
This
is
partly
down
to
the
desire
for
actors
to
appear
“genuine”
and
capture
the
true
feature
of
a
character.
32.Why
has
the
drama
series
House
of
Cards
become
so
popular?
A.Because
it
is
only
shown
on
TV.
B.Because
its
stories
interest
everyone.
C.Because
it
is
about
the
life
of
the
British
aristocracy.
D.Because
audiences
can
watch
it
online
without
waiting.
33.What
has
been
the
problem
with
language
learning
through
television
programs
in
recent
years?
A.The
actors'
terrible
acting.
B.The
actors'
unclear
lines.
C.The
dramas'
bad
plots.
D.The
dramas'
bad
lines.
34.We
can
infer
that
the
purpose
of
the
research
is
to
________.
A.show
that
people
like
American
and

B.introduce

C.prove
that

are

D.explain
the

of

35.What
is
the

about?
A.A

B.How
to

C.Where

A
few
years
ago,
I
was
doing
a
part?time
job
at
a
local
ice
cream
shop.
While
handing
an
ice
cream
to
an
older
woman
at
the
window,
I
__41__
that
she
had
a
box
of
what
appeared
to
be
purple
tomatoes
in
her
car.
“What
is
that?”
I
__42__.
As
I
gave
her
the
ice
cream,
I
said,
“Those
tomatoes
look
__43__!
What
kind
are
they?”
She
grinned
(露齿而笑)
so
much
that
I
thought
she
was
about
to
start
__44__,
but
instead
she
replied,
“Here,
have
some!”
Within
seconds
I
had
a
handful
of
wonderful
purple
tomatoes.
“Oh,
no,
you
don't
need
to
give
me
any!”
I
said.
Those
tomatoes
looked
expensive.
“Here,
have
more,”
she
__45__,
and
now
I
had
six
of
the
prettiest
tomatoes
I
had
ever
__46__.
I
tried
to
__47__
to
take
the
tomatoes:
“Really,
you
didn't
have
to
give
me
any,
but
I
__48__
it.”
The
woman
__49__
again
and
said,
“I
hope
you
enjoy
them.
And
to
answer
your
question,
it's
a
rare
breed
that
my
mom
used
to
__50__.
So
they
aren't
like
the
ones
you
get
in
the
grocery
store.”
I
said
thank
you
again,
and
she
__51__.
She
was
like
an
adult
version
of
the
tooth
fairy:
I
gave
her
ice
cream
and
she
gave
me
tomatoes.
About
two
weeks
later,
my
boss
at
the
ice
cream
store
sent
me
a
__52__:
“I
want
to
let
you
know
that
your
gardener
dropped
off
a
box
of
vegetables
for
you.”
“My
gardener?”
I
replied.
That
night,
my
boss
showed
me
the
box.
It
was
full
of
tomatoes,
cucumbers
(黄瓜)
and
green
beans.
The
tomato
fairy
was
back!
I
was
both
happy
and
confused.
Why
was
this
woman
being
so
__53__?
I
never
saw
her
again,
but
to
this
day
her
random
act
of
__54__
inspires
me
to
share
my
garden
harvest
with
anyone
who'll
have
it.
All
I
expect
is
just
a
“Thank
you”
in
__55__.
Better
yet,
pay
it
forward
and
be
someone
else's
secret
gardener.

The
board
meeting
had
come
to
an
end.
Bob
started
to
stand
up,
spilling
his
coffee
over
his
notes.
“How
embarrassing!
I
am
getting
so
clumsy
in
my
old
age.”
Everyone
had
a
good
laugh,
and
soon
we
were
all
telling
stories
of
our
most
embarrassing
moments.
It
came
around
to
Frank,
who
sat
quietly
listening
to
others.
Someone
said,
“Come
on,
Frank.
Tell
us
your
most
embarrassing
moment.”
Frank
laughed
and
began
to
tell
us
about
his
childhood.
“I
grew
up
in
San
Pedro.
My
dad
was
a
fisherman,
and
he
loved
the
sea.
He
had
his
own
boat,
but
it
was
hard
making
a
living
on
the
sea.
He
worked
hard
and
would
stay
out
until
he
caught
enough
food
to
feed
the
family.
Not
just
enough
for
our
family,
but
also
for
his
parents
and
other
siblings
(兄弟姐妹)
that
were
still
at
home.”
Frank's
voice
dropped
a
bit.
“When
the
weather
was
bad
my
dad
would
drive
me
to
school.
He
had
an
old
truck
that
he
used
for
his
fishing
business.
That
truck
was
older
than
he
was.
As
he
was
to
drive
toward
the
school,
I
would
shrink
(退缩)
down
into
the
seat,
hoping
to
hide
myself.
Half
the
time,
he
would
stop
suddenly
and
the
old
truck
would
give
out
a
cloud
of
smoke.
He
would
stop
right
in
front
of
the
school,
and
it
seemed
like
everybody
would
be
standing
around
and
watching.
Then
he
would
lean
over
and
give
me
a
big
kiss
on
the
cheek
and
tell
me
to
be
a
good
boy.
It
was
so
embarrassing
for
me.
Here
I
was
twelve
years
old,
and
my
dad
would
still
lean
over
and
kiss
me
goodbye!”
Frank
paused
and
then
went
on,
“I
remember
the
day
when
I
decided
I
was
too
old
for
a
goodbye
kiss.
When
we
got
to
the
school
and
came
to
a
stop,
my
dad
had
his
usual
big
smile.
He
started
to
lean
toward
me,
but
I
put
my
hand
up
and
said,
‘No,
Dad.’

M:Can
I
help
you?
W:Yes,
I
can't
sleep
well.
M:How
can
I
help
you?
W:Can
you
give
me
some
medicine
so
that
I
can
have
a
good
sleep?
(Text
2)
M:Excuse
me,
I'd
like
to
have
a
word
with
Tom.
W:Sorry,
he
isn't
here.
He's
gone
to
the
library.
M:Oh,
I'll
leave
him
a
message
then.
(Text
3)
W:Carl
sent
me
a
postcard
yesterday.
M:I've
got
one
from
Tim
but
not
from
Carl.
W:Oh,really?
I
haven't
heard
from
Tim
many
months.
(Text
4)
M:Did
you
remember
to
post
the
letter?
W:Well,I
remember
walking
past
the
street.
M:But
you
forgot
to
post
the
letter.
W:I'm
afraid
so.
I
didn't
remember
you
telling
me
to
post
the
letter.
(Text

M:I'm
going
to
change
my
mind
to
go
swimming
with
you.
W:That's
wonderful.
M:When
shall
we
go?
W:Half
past
two
this
afternoon.
(Text
6)
M:Is
it
true
that
fast
food
restaurants
are
very
popular
in
the
USA?
W:Yes,
especially
in
big
cities.
M:Why?
W:Because
the
food
is
good,the
service
is
fast
and
the
prices
are
low.
M:Oh,
that's
good.Then
which
restaurant
is
most
well-known?
W:McDonald's.
By
1982,
there
were
7063
McDonald's
in
the
world,
and
about
1283
of
them
were
in
other
countries,
such
as
Japan,
West
Germany,England
and
Australia.
M:I
see.
How
about
the
service
and
the
food?
W:Well,
the
employees
there
are
helpful
and
polite,
and
the
tables
and
floors
are
very
clean.
Most
important,
people
can
get
the
same
food
at
any
McDonald's
in
any
state
of
the
country.
The
food,
of
course,
is
quite
good.
French
fries,
the
hamburgers,
the
sandwiches—are
all
specially
prepared.
Workers
buy
their
lunches
there
because
they
taste
better
than
their
lunches
from
home.
M:Who
is
the
owner
of
McDonald's?
W:It
was
first
owned
by
two
brothers,Richard
and
Maurice
McDonald.
Then,
in
1960,
Ray
Kroc,
a
56-year-old
salesman,
bought
the
name
and
most
of
their
restaurants
for
$
2.7
million,and
now
he
is
the
owner.

W:What
are
you
doing,Tom?
M:I'm
writing
to
my
mother.
W:But
you
wrote
her
only
yesterday.
M:Yes,but
I
have
something
new
to
tell
her.
W:Something
new?
M:Yes.
I
am
telling
her
I've
decided
to
take
up
a
part-time
job
as
a
shop
assistant.
W:What
do
you
mean?
You've
been
working
as
one
for
nearly
three
months.
Have
you
been
fired
by
Rogers?
M:No.
My
mother
doesn't
know
I
have
a
part-time
job.
W:You
mean,
you
didn't
tell
her
before?
M:No.
W:But
why
are
you
telling
her
now?
M:Now
I
don't
want
her
to
worry
about
my
life
here.
You
see,
I
told
her
that
I'd
just
bought
a
car
in
my
last
letter.
(Text
8)
M:It's
almost
vacation
time.
Have
you
found
a
summer
job
yet?
W:No,I
don't
think
I
will
work
at
the
boy's
camp
where
I
worked
last
summer.
Camp
jobs
don't
pay
much.
M:I
think
I
can
find
a
job
at
the
Hollywood
Hotel.
A
friend
of
mine
was
a
waiter
last
summer.
The
pay
wasn't
good,
but
the
tips
were.
W:My
sister
worked
there
last
summer,
making
beds
and
cleaning
bathrooms.
She
didn't
like
it
but
she
earned
a
lot
of
money.
M:That
sounds
really
good.
W:Yes.
And
I
want
a
job
outside.
After
sitting
in
college
classes
all
winter,
I'd
like
a
job
in
the
open
air.
M:The
high

kids
earn
a
lot
of
money
every
summer
cutting
grass.
My
brother
is
only
fourteen,
but
he
gets
five
dollars
every
time
he
cuts
the
grass,
and
it
only
takes
him
an
hour.
He
just
rides
around
on
the
machine
that
he
bought,
and
the
machine
does
all
the
work.
W:That's
pretty
good.
I
used
to
cut
grass
when
I
was
in
high
school.
But
now
I
think
I
might
work
for
a
road-building
company,
or
do
something
like
that.
M:It
could
be
a
good
experience.
And
you
could
earn
a
lot,
too.

W:Hello,Apple

Can
I
help
you?
M:Yes.
I'd
like
to

W:Yes,
sir.
What
time?
M:Eight
o'clock.
W:Certainly.
For
how
many
people?
M:There
are
ten
of
us.
W:Ten
of
you!
But
we
don't
usually
accept
large
parties,sir.
M:I
know,
but
we
are
regular
customers.
W:What's
your

please?
M:Michael

W:Mr.

of

That'll
be
all
right.
We'll
put
two
tables
together.
M:Thanks.
W:What
food
would

sir?
We

M:No.
We

to
eat
vegetables.

第二部分
第一节
A
【语篇解读】 本文是应用文。文章是对四个健身中心设施配备、健身课程、会员特权、地址、联系方式等的相关介绍。
21.答案与解析:D 细节理解题。由Bodyworks
Gym部分的“A
£28
monthly
membership
fee
for
unlimited
use
of
the
equipment”可知答案。
22.答案与解析:C 细节理解题。由Churchill
Square
Health
Club部分的“Handball
courts,
tennis
courts,
golf
practice
range
(instruction
available
for
each
of
these
games)”可知,在该健身中心你可以进行球类运动。
23.答案与解析:C 细节理解题。由这四个健身中心的地址可知,它们都位于伯灵顿。
B
【语篇解读】 本文是记叙文。文章介绍了做风车的马拉维少年William
Kamkwamba。
24.答案与解析:D'推理判断题。由第一段中的“have
no
electricity
or
running
water”可知,威廉生活的地方非常苦;由第二段解释风车的作用“good
sources
of
electricity”以及第四段描述威廉设计的第一个风车的功效“powered...
lights”可知,他做风车的初衷是给家里发电。
25.答案与解析:C'推理判断题。由第三段中的“a
lot
of
people
laughed
at
him,
including
his
mother”可知,一开始妈妈不看好威廉能做出风车。
26.答案与解析:B'细节理解题。由第三段中的“He
didn't
have
the
parts
and
equipment
that
he
saw
in
the
book's
pictures.
So
he
looked
for
parts
in
junkyards
to
build
his
machine.”可知,威廉的第一个风车是由废弃的东西做的。
27.答案与解析:D'推理判断题。由第三段描述很多人嘲笑威廉做不成风车,但他却仍然充满信心,以及最后一段中他鼓励人们不要放弃梦想“Whatever
happens,
don't
give
up.”可知,他是一个意志坚定的人。
C
【语篇解读】 这是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了英国的大本钟,分别从钟楼和钟的建造等方面进行了详细介绍。
28.答案与解析:C 细节理解题。根据第一段中“Let's
clear
up
a
common
misunderstanding
first;
technically
speaking,
the
name
‘Big
Ben’
does
not
refer
to
the
famous
tower,
nor
to
the
four
huge
clock
faces
of
this
London
landmark;
instead,
it
refers
to
the
largest
one
of
the
five
bells
inside
the
clock
tower.”可知让我们先澄清一个常见的误区;严格地说,“大本钟”这个名字并不是指这座著名的塔,也不是指这个伦敦地标的四个巨大的钟面;而它指的是钟楼里五个钟中最大的一个。由此可知,“大本钟”这个名字实际上指的是里面最大的钟。故选C。
29.答案与解析:C 细节理解题。根据第三段中“
The
tower
is
316
feet
high.”可知钟楼高316英尺。由此可知,钟楼有300多英尺高。故选C。
30.答案与解析:D 细节理解题。根据第四段中“The
dials
are
23
feet
in
diameter
and
the
faces
themselves
are
not
solid,
but
are
made
up
of
many
small
pieces
of
opal
glass,
like
a
glass
window.
Several
of
the
central
pieces
of
glass
can
be
removed
to
make
it
easier
for
people
to
check
the
hands
of
the
clock
from
inside.”可知刻度盘直径为23英尺,表盘本身并不是实心的,而是由许多小块乳浊玻璃组成,就像一扇玻璃窗。中央的几块玻璃可以被移除,这样人们从里面检查时钟的指针就更容易了。由此可知,乳浊玻璃时钟面的好处是可以拆下玻璃检查指针。故选D。
31.答案与解析:C 推理判断题。根据第三段中“The
spire
of
the
tower
is
built
with
an
iron
frame,
and
it
is
this
frame
which
supports
the
weight
of
the
bells.”可知钟楼的塔尖是用铁框架建造的,正是这个框架支撑着钟的重量。由此可推知,钟挂在钟楼的塔尖里。故选C。
D
【语篇解读】 这是一篇说明文,文章介绍了一项研究,研究发现电视节目是一种学习英语的有趣方式。
32.答案与解析:D 细节理解题。根据第三段“The
rise
of
on?demand
streaming
services
has
enabled
viewers
all
over
the
world
to
watch
shows
without
having
to
wait
for
them
to
be
broadcast
in
their
country,
which
explains
why
shows
created
especially
for
online
providers,
such
as
House
of
Cards,
have
become
so
universally
popular.”(随着点播流媒体服务的兴起,全世界的观众都可以观看节目,而不用等到节目在自己的国家播出,这就解释了为什么《纸牌屋》等专门为在线提供商制作的节目如此普遍地受欢迎。)可知,电视连续剧纸牌屋(House
of
Cards)之所以非常受欢迎,是因为观众可以在线观看而不用等待。故选D项。
33.答案与解析:B 细节理解题。根据第五段“but
in
recent
years
there
have
been
complaints
(抱怨)
that
actors
are
mumbling
(含糊地说)
their
way
through
their
lines.
Even
native
English
speakers
are
struggling
to
understand
what
they
are
watching
on
screen.”(但是近年来有人抱怨说,演员在台词上含糊其辞。甚至以英语为母语的人也很难理解他们在屏幕上看到的内容。)可知,近年来演员含糊不清的台词给通过电视节目学习语言的人造成了理解上的问题。故选B项。
34.答案与解析:C 推理判断题。根据第一段“our
research
found
that
many
people
are
using
television
shows
as
both
a
form
of
entertainment
and
a
way
to
help
them
learn
English.
One
of
the
best
ways
to
teach
and
to
learn
how
to
speak
the
English
language
is
to
actually
watch
American
and
British
television
shows
and
some
learning
channels.”
(我们的研究发现,人们把电视节目既当作一种娱乐方式,又当作一种帮助他们学习英语的方式。教授和学习说英语的最好的方法之一是实际观看美国和英国的电视节目和一些学习频道。)和第二段第一句话“We
were
interested
in
discovering
what
English
learners
are
watching
to
help
them
improve
their
skills
outside
of
the
classroom.”(我们感兴趣的是,发现英语学习者正在看的节目帮助他们在课外提高技能。)可知,研究需要通过了解英语学习者观看的电视节目来证明电视节目对学习英语有帮助。而A、B、D选项均不符合题意。故选C项。
35.答案与解析:A 主旨大意题。根据第一段“our
research
found
that
many
people
are
using
television
shows
as
both
a
form
of
entertainment
and
a
way
to
help
them
learn
English.”(我们的研究发现,人们把电视节目既当作一种娱乐方式,又当作一种帮助他们学习英语的方式。)和第五段“Television
programs
may
be
a
fun
way
to
improve
vocabularies
and
build
familiarity
with
genuine
dialogue
and
different
cultures”(电视节目可能是增加词汇量,熟悉真实对话和不同文化的有趣方式。)可知,本文主要介绍了电视节目是一种学习英语的有趣方式。B、C、D项均不符合题意。故选A项。

you
the
most.(你可以尝试不同的方法,使用对你帮助最大的方法)”可知,在你的日常生活中有许多呼吸的方法。后句中的ones指代选择项中的ways,故选F。
37.答案与解析:B 此处考查本段小标题。结合上下三个小标题可知,用动词原形开头的祈使句。根据本段中的
“Regular
runners”“Regular
exercise”和“remove
stress
from
your
life(消除生活压力)”可知,本段是有关锻炼和生活方面的。“为了更好的生活而运动”作为本段小标题最为合适,故选B。
38.答案与解析:E 因为本段的内容是有关锻炼的,根据前句“Regular
exercise
gives
you
time
to
think
things
thoroughly
and

also
lift
your
mood.(有规律的锻炼可以让你有时间彻底地思考问题,也可以改善你的情绪)”可知,这里是有关锻炼的益处的。所以,后句接着说明锻炼的另一个好处是就它能让你保持健康,故选E项。
39.答案与解析:G 因为本段是与饮食有关。根据前句“Introduce
healthier
foods
into
your
diet.(在你的饮食中加入健康的食物。)”可知,多喝茶,少喝咖啡,在日常饮食中加入更多的能量补充产品。选择项中的tea,coffe,
meals与饮食相关,故选G。
40.答案与解析:C 根据本段小标题“Manage
your
