Ⅰ.阅读
A
(2020·山东师大附中高三第一次模拟考试)You
may
be
surprised
to
learn
that
English
gets
30
to
45
percent
of
its
words
from
French.
The
reason
goes
back
to
the
year
1066,
when
Norman
forces
invaded
(入侵)
what
is
now
Britain.
The
Normans
were
from
northern
France
and
spoke
French.
During
the
Norman
occupation,
French
became
the
language
of
England's
rulers
and
wealthy
class.
This
lasted
for
more
than
300
years.
Other
people
in
England
continued
to
speak
English
during
this
period.
Over
time,
the
two
languages
combined
and
shared
words.
Some
researchers
believe
that
about
10,000
French
words
eventually
entered
the
English
language.
However,
although
English
took
many
French
words,
their
meanings
have
not
always
stayed
the
same.
Sometimes
the
differences
in
meanings
can
be
very
important,
and
lead
to
funny
or
strange
situations
if
the
words
are
used
in
the
wrong
way.
Take,
for
example,
the
French
word
college.
In
English,
college
can
often
be
used
in
place
of
the
word
university,
or
sometimes
as
a
school
within
a
university.
However,
in
French,
college
actually
means
“middle
school”,
or
the
level
of
schooling
for
students
in
grades
five
or
six
through
eight.
There
are
many
other
similar
words
in
the
two
languages
with
completely
different
meanings.
In
English,
the
word
chat
is
a
verb
which
means
“to
talk
casually”;
but
in
French,
the
word
chat
is
the
word
for
an
animal:
a
cat.
If
an
English
speaker
says
someone
is
jolly,
that
means
they
are
cheerful
or
friendly.
But
in
French,
jolie
means
someone
is
good?looking
or
pleasant
to
look
at.
In
any
case,
both
are
nice
things
to
say
to
someone.
篇章导读:本文是一篇说明文。文章讲述了英语中存在大量法语词汇的现象,并举例说明英语中的法语单词与其在法语中的不同含义。

Britain
of
Norman
times?
A.English.
B.French.
C.Both
English
and

D.Some
unknown
language.
答案:B 细节理解题。根据第一段中的“During

2.What
does
college
mean

B.University
in
French.
C.Middle

3.What
is
the
text
mainly
about?
A.Comparison
between
two
languages.
B.Difficulty
in
grasping
English.
C.French

答案:C 主旨大意题。根据第一段第一句“You
may
be
surprised
to
learn
that
English
gets
30
to
45
percent
of
its
words
from
French.”和第二段第一句“Over

believe
that
about
10,000

(2018·全国卷Ⅰ)Languages
have
been
coming

for
thousands
of

but
in
recent

there
has

more
going.
When

still
populated
by
hunter?gatherers,
small,

groups
developed
their
own
patterns
of

of
each

Some
language
experts
believe
that
10,000
years
ago,
when
the
world
had
just
five
to
ten
million
people,
they
spoke
perhaps
12,000
languages
between
them.
Soon
afterwards,
many
of
those
people
started
settling
down
to
become
farmers,
and
their
languages
too
became
more
settled
and
fewer
in
number.
In
recent
centuries,
trade,
industrialisation,
the
development
of
the
nation?state
and
the
spread
of
universal
compulsory
education,
especially
globalisation
and
better
communications
in
the
past
few
decades,
all
have
caused
many
languages
to
disappear,
and
dominant
languages
such
as
English,
Spanish
and
Chinese
are
increasingly
taking
over.
At
present,
the
world
has
about
6,800
languages.
The
distribution
of
these
languages
is
hugely
uneven.
The
general
rule
is
that
mild
zones
have
relatively
few
languages,
often
spoken
by
many
people,
while
hot,
wet
zones
have
lots,
often
spoken
by
small
numbers.
Europe
has
only
around
200
languages;
the
Americas
about
1,000;
Africa
2,400;
and
Asia
and
the
Pacific
perhaps
3,200,
of
which
Papua
New
Guinea
alone
accounts
for
well
over
800.
The
median
number
(中位数)
of
speakers
is
a
mere
6,000,
which
means
that
half
the
world's
languages
are
spoken
by
fewer
people
than
that.
Already
well
over
400
of
the
total
of
6,800
languages
are
close
to

(消亡),
with
only
a
few
elderly

篇章导读:本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了随着社会的发展人类语言越来越少的现象及其原因。
4.What
can
we
infer
about
languages
in
hunter?gatherer
times?
A.They
developed
very
fast.
B.They
were
large
in
number.
C.They
had
similar
patterns.
D.They
were
closely
connected.
答案:B 推理判断题。根据第一段第二、三句可知,当人类社会处在原始社会,人们以狩猎为生时,小而联系紧密的群落形成了他们彼此之间独立的语言模式。当世界上的人口数量在五百万到一千万时,语言种类达到了12,000种。由此推知,当时的语言种类很多。故选B。
5.Which

the
following
best
explains
“dominant”
underlined
in
Paragraph
2?
A.Complex.
B.Advanced.
C.Powerful.
D.Modern.
答案:C 词义猜测题。根据第二段中的“dominant
languages
such
as
English,
Spanish
and
Chinese
are
increasingly
taking
over”可知,英语、西班牙语和汉语越来越占据统治地位。由此推知,dominant意为“占优势的;强大的”。故选C。
6.How
many
languages
are
spoken
by
less
than
6,000
people
at
present?
A.About
6,800.
B.About
3,400.
C.About
2,400.
D.About
1,200.
答案:B 细节理解题。根据第三段中的“At
present,
the
world
has
about
6,800
languages.”和“The
median

is
a
mere
6,000,
which
means
that
half
the
world's
languages
are
spoken
by
fewer
people
than
that.”可知,目前世界上大约有6,800种语言,但是讲的人数少于6,000人的占一半,即3,400。故选B。
7.What
is
the
main
idea
of
the
text?
A.New
languages
will
be
created.
B.People's
lifestyles
are
reflected
in
languages.
C.Human
development
results
in
fewer
languages.
D.Geography
determines
language
evolution.
答案:C 主旨大意题。根据第一段第一句和第二段第二句可知,本文所讲的主要内容为随着时代的发展,语言在逐渐消失和减少。故选C。
【词汇积累】 ①independent
adj.
独立的 ②industrialisation
n.
工业化 ③increasingly

They
want
to

of
the

Last
year,
the
OED,
BBC

and
the
Forward

teamed
up
to
find
local
words
in
the
United

regional
words
and
phrases
being
added
to
the

One
was
“cuddy
wifter”,
which
means
a
left?handed
person.
Now,
the
OED
is
widening
its
search
to
English
speakers
around
the
world.
Eleanor
Maier,
an
editor
at
OED,
said
the
response
has
been
great.
Editors
are
listing
a
bunch
of
suggestions
to
include
in

These
include
Hawaii's
“hammajang”,
which
means
“in
a
disorderly
state”.
Another
is
the
word
for
a
swimming
costume,
“dookers”
or
“duckers”.
It
is
used
in
Scotland.
The
OED
also
might
include
the
word
“frog?drowner”,
which
Americans
might
use
to
describe
a
downpour
of
rain.
Another
possibility
is
“brick”.
It
means
“very
cold”
to
people
in
New
Jersey
and
New
York
City.
The
dictionary
has
already
found
that,
depending
on
location,
a
picture
hanging
off
center
might
be
described
as
“agley”.
It
might
also
be
called
“catawampous”
or
“ahoo”.
“The
OED
aims

cover
all
types
of
English,”
Maier
said.
That
includes
scientific
words,
slang
and
regional
language.
Maier
also
said
that
it
can
be
difficult
for
the
OED's
editors
to
identify
regional
words.
The
terms
are
more
often
spoken
than
written
down.
“The

most
likely
from
regions
of
the
United
Kingdom?
A.Agley.
B.Frog?drowner.

One
was
‘cuddy

wifter最有可能来自英国地区。故选C。
10.What
can
be
inferred
from
the
passage?
A.It
is
challenging
to
create
a
complete
collection
of
regional
words.
B.People
are
not

答案:A 推理判断题。根据倒数第二段第三句“Maier
also
said
that
it
can
be
difficult
for
the
OED's
editors
to
identify
regional
words.”可知,创建一个完整的地域性词汇集合是很有挑战性的。故选A。
11.What's
the
main
idea
of
the
passage?
A.It's
time
to
trace
the
source
of
local
words.
B.The

to
its
collection
to
appeal
to
locals.
D.Oxford
Dictionary
will
include
more
regional

1.celebration 考查词性转换。介词后常接名词或动名词,介词in后应填名词celebration。该句意为:他跑了32公里以示祝贺。
2.to
take 考查非谓语动词。attempt
to
do
sth.为固定用法,意为“尝试做某事”。
3.which 考查定语从句的引导词。分析该句结构可知,设空处引导非限制性定语从句,引导词在从句中作主语,先行词为设空前的整个主句,故用which引导该定语从句。
4.has
witnessed 考查动词的时态和主谓一致。根据该句中的时间状语“so
far”可知,该句应用现在完成时;由该句主语Kambugu可知,主语为第三人称单数,故谓语动词用单数形式。
5.
the 考查冠词。此处表示使生活变得更好,for
the
better
“好转,向好的方向发展”为固定搭配,故用定冠词the。
6.what 考查主语从句的连接词。分析该句结构可知,设空处引导主语从句,作主语从句中had
seen的宾语,表示“……的事物”,故用what引导该主语从句,表示“她所看到的”。
7.
her 考查代词。设空处作及物动词impressed的宾语,故用宾格代词her。
8.more
fluently 考查副词的比较级。根据该句中的“than”可知,设空处用其比较级,修饰动词spoke,故填more
fluently。
9.participating 考查非谓语动词。分析该句结构可知,the
countries和动词participate之间为逻辑上的主谓关系,故用其现在分词形式作后置定语。
10.runners 考查名词。runner为可数名词,又主语the
countries为复数,故此处表示多个奔跑者,应用复数形式。

came
up
with
a
much
better
metaphor:
“Careers
are
a
jungle
gym,
not
a
ladder.”
As
Lori
describes
it,
there's
only
one
way
to
get
to
the
top
of
a
ladder,
but
there
are
many
ways
to
get
to
the
top
of
a
jungle
gym.
The
jungle
gym
model
benefits
everyone,
but
especially
women
who
might
be
starting
careers,
switching
careers,
getting
blocked
by
external
barriers,
or
reentering
the
workforce
after
taking
time
off.
The
ability
to
create
a
unique
path
with
occasional
dips,
detours
(弯路),
and
even
dead
ends
presents
great
views
of
many
people,
not
just
those
at
the
top.
On
a
ladder,
most
climbers
are
stuck
staring
at
the
butt
of
the
person
above.

First
Day
at
Work
Lily
had
just
been
appointed
in
the
multinational
bank.
After
one
month
of
rigorous
training,
today
was
her
first
day
to
display
the
result
of
the
training.
It
was
her
first
job.
She
got
up
as
usual,
but
decided
to
skip
her
gym
workout
as
she
did
not
want
to
risk
getting
late
to
the
office
on
her
first
day.
She
went
through
her
morning
routine
and
spent
a
lot
of
time
in
deciding
what
to
wear.
None
of
her
dresses
seemed
to
appeal
to
her—either
they
were
a
little
too
bold
for
a
first
day
or
they
were
a
little
too
dull
and
she
definitely
wanted
to
make
an
impression
right
from
the
start.
Finally
she
settled
on
the
white
set
combined
with
a
tie
and
dye
skirt.
She
waved
bye
to
her
mom
and
set
off
cheerfully
towards
the
bus
stop.
But
she
saw
a
bus
leaving
the
stop
just
as
she
turned
round
the
corner.
Now
she
would
have
to
wait
for
a
good
15
minutes.
She
stood
there
patiently.
15
minutes
passed
and
then
30
minutes
and
there
was
no
sign
of
the
bus.
There
was
not
a
single
rickshaw
too
in
sight.
Now
what
would
she
do?
She
had
to
reach
the
office
on
time.
She
saw
a
rick
approaching
but
as
she
tried
to
stop
it,
the
driver
speeded
on
without
even
a
glance.
And
still
no
trace
of
a
bus.
It
was
then
that
a
car
stopped
near
her
and
a
man
waved
out
to
her.
He
said,
“Aren't
you
working
at
the
bank
at
Nariman
Point?
My
office
too
is
in
the
same
building.
Can
I
give
you
a
lift?”
Lily
was
hesitant
at
first
but
then
forced
herself
to
get
in
as
she
was
going
to
get
late.
They
exchanged
preliminary
formalities
and
then
he
switched
on
the
radio
and
absorbed
in
the
song.
Lily
realized
too
late
that
they
were
not
on
the
familiar
route
to
her
office.
She
asked
the
man
to
stop
the
car
but
he
did
not
heed
her
and
asked
her
to
shut
up.
Today
was
Lily's
birthday
and
she
cursed
herself
to
enter
a
stranger's
car.
As
she
stood
there,
puzzled,
when
she
heard
footsteps
and
turned
back.

答案:A 推理判断题。由第四段中Hill说的话可知,中国女性不仅是时尚的消费者,承接上文,第一个破折号后的movement就是fashion
campaign,结合常识与消费者对应的是创造者,所以中国女性不仅是时尚的消费者,还是时尚的创造者,由此推断出,她们正在引领潮流,故选A项。

答案:D 词义猜测题。由画线词后面的“—and
beating
them
hands
down

and
sales”可知,破折号是对前文的补充,因此beating
them与taking
on意思相近,所以可知take
on此处意为“与……较量”,故选D项。

篇章导读:本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了在英国翻译小说销量上升,对中国小说需求增大。
1.rose 考查动词的时态。根据空后的“last
year”可知,此处描述的是发生在过去的事情,应用一般过去时,故填rose。
2.saying 考查非谓语动词。此处作伴随状语,say和句子主语为主动关系,故填现在分词形式saying。
3.copies 考查名词。copy此处意为“一册”,为可数名词,根据空前的“more
than
2.6
million”可知,此处需填其复数形式,故填copies。
4.were
sold 考查动词的时态、语态和主谓一致。分析句子可知,主语为复数形式,谓语动词也应用复数形式;又因为时间是2018年,且谓语动词sell与主语之间是被动关系,故此处需用一般过去时的被动语态。故填were
sold。
5.ourselves 考查代词。句意:阅读小说是我们所拥有的最好的换位思考的方式之一。put
oneself
in
other
people's
shoes
“设身处地,处于某人的境地”是固定用法,又由句中的“we”和语境可知,此处应填ourselves。
6.how 考查副词。hungry是形容词,应用副词修饰;又根据语境可知,此处表示被翻译的小说销量的增长表明如此多的英国读者对来自其他国家的优秀文学作品是多么渴望。故填how。
7.the 考查冠词。对Anna
Holmwood来说,这则消息是“新时代到来”的标志。根据语境可知,这则消息就是上文所讲的中国小说在英国销量好的情况,表示特指。故填the。
8.for 考查介词。此处表示这对于走向国外的中国小说来说,是一个重要的时机。故填for。
9.translator 考查词性转换。根据本句中的“worked
as
a
literary
agent
and”可知,设空处词性应与agent相同,应填名词形式,又根据语境可知,此处表示Holmwood作为一名作品经纪人兼译员已经工作9年了。故填translator。
10.particularly 考查词性转换。修饰介词短语需用副词,故填particular的副词形式particularly。

篇章导读:本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了一项奥林匹克运动项目——冰壶。
1.G 根据后文的“Scottish
winters
were
long
and
there
were
forms
of
entertainment.
So
people
began
making
a
sport
out
of
sliding
heavy
stones
on
the
frozen
lakes.”可推知,此处是概述冰壶的历史渊源,所以G项“冰壶运动可能起源于16世纪或更早的苏格兰。”符合语境。故选G。
2.C 根据本段的整体内容可知,本段主要讲的是冰壶的规则,所以C项“冰壶比赛由四人组成的队伍进行。”符合语境。故选C。
3.E 前文讲的是冰壶的规则,本段讲的是对冰壶的掌控并非易事,所以E项“冰壶的规则学起来容易,但操作起来困难。”承上启下。故选E。
4.F 根据后文“Water
helps
the
stone
slide,
but
it
can
also
change
the
stone's
path.”可推知,由于摩擦可能会造成场地的冰融化,从而增加操作冰壶的难度。故选F。
5.D 根据后文“That
may
explain
why
the
international
Olympic
Committee
decided
to
make
curling
an
Olympic
sport
in
1998.”(这也许可以解释为什么国际奥委会在1998年决定将冰壶运动列为奥运会项目。)可推知,一个好的冰壶球员必须是一个好的运动员。故选
D。

February

romantic

Valentine's
Day,
a
day
named
after
Valentine
who
was
a
priest
in
the
third
century
Rome.
When
the
emperor
decided
that
single
men
could
become

soldiers
than
those
with
wives,
he
didn't
allow
marriage.
But
Valentine

When
his
actions

the
emperor

While

it
is
said
that
Valentine
fell
in

the
daughter
of
his
prison
guard.
Before
his
death,
he
wrote
her
a
letter,
which
he
signed
“From

an
expression
that
is

today.
Valentine
died
for
what
he
believed
in
and
so
he
was
made
a

as
well
as
becoming
one
of
the

history.
Nowadays,
Valentine's
Day
is
still
popular
among
Chinese
young
people.
Some
students
are
planning
to
make
Valentine's
cards
for
parents,
teachers
and
friends.
Others
want
to
hold
parties
at
which
they
will
exchange
small
gifts
and
eat
heart-shaped
cakes.
The
idea
is
to
have
fun
and
encourage
people
to
share
in
the
spirit
of
St.Valentine.

篇章导读:本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了几个能够帮助濒临灭绝动物的方法。
1.F 根据本段的主题Plant
trees以及上文“As
the
date
of
Earth
Day
roughly
coincides
with
US
Arbor
Day,
planting
trees
is
a
popular
Earth
Day
activity.”可知本段主要讲述地球日植树的活动。F项中的“planting
trees”“Earth
Day”与之相匹配,故选F项。
2.B 根据下文“And
plant
them
in
your
garden
or
on
nature
strips
where
plants
are
usually
grown.
Restoring
the
local
plant
life
will
help
attract
native
bird
life,
pollinators
and
local
mammals.”
(把它们种在你的花园里或是通常种植植物的自然地带)可知,此段主要讲述种花。B项“Choose
flowers
that
are
native
to
your
area.”很好地总结引领本段。故选B项。
3.A 根据下文“Why
not
welcome
these
nonhuman
neighbors
into
your
yard?”(为什么不欢迎这些非人类的邻居到你的院子里来呢?)及下文提到的几种动物可知此处的非人类邻居指的是“动物”。故选A项。
4.D 根据下文“Provide
a
source
of
water,
like
a
bird
bath
or
a
small
pond.”提到的提供一个水源,比如一个鸟浴或一个小池塘,以及上文“Instead
of
mowing
the
entire
yard,
leave
a
few
sections
unmoved.”
提到的不要修剪整个院子,留下几个部分不动,可知这些都是吸引昆虫来的措施,昆虫当然会发现这些“邀请”,将会来到你的院子。故选D项。
5.E 根据上文“Many
groups
use
the
weekend
of
Earth
Day
to
clear
roadways,
highways
and
neighborhood
streets
of
litter
that
has
accumulated
since
the
last
clean?up
day.”
(许多团体利用地球日的周末清理道路、高速公路和附近街道上自上次清理日以来堆积的垃圾。)和本段标题可知,本段主要讲述社区活动。故选E项。

Many

As
is

to
us,
to

is
to

so
measures
of

should
be
taken
by
the
government:
pollution

killing

is

Remember
the
TV
show
Green
Acres?
This
story
is
a
little
like
that,
only
with
more
animals
and
an
even
better
ending.
“My
wife
of
24
years,
Ann
Marie
Roberts,
was
raised
in
New
York
City,
worked
in
the
fashion
industry,
and
never
got
her
hands
dirty,”
wrote
Keith
Roberts
in
the
magazine
Country
Woman.
“Then,
nine
years
ago,
I
wanted
to
move
home
to
Florida
and
reconnect
to
my
country
roots,
but
how
would
I
inspire
the
same
feeling
in,
well,
a
city
woman?
I
brought
her
a
two-month-old
potbellied
pig.”
Ann
Marie,
then
46,
was
smitten.
Soon
she
took
in
another
potbellied
pig
that
had
been
abandoned.
And
thus
began
Sugarloaf
Mountain
Ranch,
her
animal
sanctuary
in
central
Florida.
With
the
couple's
two
children
grown
up,
these
creatures
would
now
be
Ann
Marie's
babies.
The
ranch
now
has
300
rescues,
from
alpacas
to
donkeys,
each
with
its
own
story.
“A
gentleman
had
a
litter
of
eight
pigs,
and
all
but
one
died,”
says
Ann
Marie.
“She
weighed
one
pound
and
suffered
seizures.
For
three
weeks
straight,
I
fed
that
baby
every
hour,
day
and
night,
barely
sleeping.
Now
she's
fine.
Another
time,
we
rescued
two
roosters
that
had
been
shot—one
has
brain
injuries.
Many
vets
tell
me,
‘Euthanize
(使安乐死)
them—it's
too
much
work.’
I
say
if
they
can
live,
then
I'm
going
to
help
them
live.”
Ann
Marie
gets
five
to
ten
requests
a
day
to
save
animals
and
has
to
turn
most
down.
“If
she
can't
rescue
the
animal,
she
works
with
that
person
to
find
a
solution,”
Keith
says.
“She's
not
only
saving
animals;
she's
giving
their
owners
peace
of
mind.”
“A
woman
called
from
her
hospice
bed,”
Ann
Marie
recalls.
“Her
pigs
would
be
euthanized
if
she
couldn't
find
a
suitable
home.
‘I
only
have
a
few
months,
and
I
need
to
know
that
they'll
be
safe,’
she
said.”
So
Ann
Marie
drove
three
hours
and
got
them.
Soon
after,
Ann
Marie
received
a
note
from
the
woman's
daughter.
Keith's
income
from
his
job
in
IT
supports
the
farm,
along
with
some
