Three
days
before
Christmas
in
1968,
Frank
Borman,
Jim
Lovell
and
Bill
Anders
had
adventured
out
to
the
moon,
becoming
the
first
human
beings
to
reach
and
orbit
our
closest
neighbour
in
space.
On
Christmas
Eve,
they
pointed
a
TV
camera
out
of
the
window
of
Apollo
8
and
showed
a
global
audience(观众)
of
1
billion
the
ancient
moon
moving
slowly
below
their
spaceship.
“I
didn’t
choose
it,”
Anders
said,
when
all
three
astronauts
met
to
mark
the
50th
anniversary(周年)
of
their
moon
flight,
at
Chicago’s
Museum
of
Science
and
Industry,
where
their
spaceship
is
displayed.
When
the
three
men
returned
to
Earth
on
December
27,
they
were
surrounded
by
a
sea
of
joy.
That
kind
of
collective(集体的)
joy—born
of
collective
effort—can
seem
beyond
us
now.
From
the
factory
floor
to
the
three
men
in
the
spaceship,
an
estimated
400,000
people
had
a
hand
in
making
the
moon
flight
possible.
Behind
the
joy
there
was
also
a
dark
danger
Apollo
8
might
face.
If
the
astronauts
made
it
into
the
moon
orbit
but
their
engine
failed
to
fire
when
it
was
time
to
return,
rescue
would
be
impossible.
They
would
circle
the
moon
forever.
But
the
astronauts
did
come
home,
and
in
the
process
they
gave
the
world
another
gift:
the
celebrated
photograph
that
came
to
be
known
as
Earthrise.
Even
fifty
years
later,
Borman
and
Lovell
continued
to
play
jokes
on
Anders,
85
then.
“I’m
still
trying
to
figure
out
who
did
it,”
said
Borman,
with
a
wink(眨眼睛).
“You
did
it,
I
think,”
Lovell
answered.
“Bill
did
it,”
Borman
admitted.
“He
didn’t
want
me
to
take
it
at
first,”
Anders
said.
“I
have
never
said
it
before
publicly,”
said
Borman,
“but
I’m
just
proud
that
I
was
able
to
fly
with
these
two
talented
guys.
You
did
a
really
good
job.”
The
men
pointed
a
camera
out
of
the
window
of
Apollo
8
to
______.
?
A.
show
the
moon
to
the
world
B.
read
some
sentences
to
the
audience
C.
do
some
research
into
the
ancient
moon
D.
record
what
they
were
doing
in
the
spacecraft

8的窗外,是为了向世界展示月球。

Anders到达太空时的年龄是:85-50=35,故选C。

答案:A
C
As
a
little
girl,
one
of
my
favourite
family
traditions
was
held
on
the
first
day
of
May.
Along
with
my
sister,
my
mother
and
I
would
make
simple
flower
baskets
by
making
paper
into
cones(圆锥形).
Then,
we
filled
the
bottom
of
the
cone
with
small
candies
before
putting
some
flowers
into
it.
With
our
May
Day
baskets
in
hand,
my
sister
and
I
became
anonymous
gift-givers.
After
hanging
a
basket
on
the
front
door
of
a
neighbour
or
friend,
we
rang
the
doorbell
and
ran
away.
The
goal
was
to
remain
secret
givers.
?
Historically,
the
first
day
of
May,
often
referred
to
as
“May
Day”,
has
been
recognised
as
a
celebration
of
spring,
of
life
and
growth.
Parades(游行)
and
dances
are
ways
that
the
day
has
been—and
continues
to
be—celebrated
in
many
parts
of
the
world.
Although
formal
May
Day
celebrations
may
be
less
common
now,
it
is
always
worth
celebrating.
Here
are
some
simple
and
lovely
ways
to
celebrate
May
Day
in
our
homes
and
with
those
we
love:
Making
a
May
Day
basket
is
always
a
great
choice.
Although
the
May
Day
basket
we
made
as
children
was
simple,
the
making
of
the
basket
was
a
joy
in
itself.
Consider
making
or
buying
some
flowers
for
friends.
Fill
the
basket
with
a
few
sweets
and
write
a
note
thanking
your
friend
or
neighbour
for
their
kindness,
their
presence,
and
their
love.
On
May
Day,
we
also
take
flowers
to
a
local
hospital
or
nursing
home.
Flowers
are
always
welcome
in
places
that
are
too
often
full
of
sadness.
Stopping
to
have
a
conversation
with
a
patient
and
thanking
a
nurse
would
be
an
additional
gift—to
the
receiver
and
to
us!
Besides,
we
always
give
friends
small
gifts
to
celebrate
May
Day.
A
small
book
or
magazine
with
a
note,
an
art
print
celebrating
spring—the
choices
are
endless.
When
your
friends
are
far
away,
an
unexpected
gift
can
reawaken
friendship
across
the
miles.
The
underlined
part
“anonymous
gift-givers”
refers
to
people
who
    .
?
A.
are
serious
about
gift-giving
B.
don’t
know
the
value
of
gifts
C.
are
careful
about
every
small
detail
D.
give
gifts
but
don’t
want
their
names
to
be
known
解析:词义猜测题。根据画线部分后的“After
hanging
a
basket
...
we
rang
the
doorbell
and
ran
away.”和“secret
givers”可知,anonymous
gift-givers的意思应该是“匿名的赠送礼物者”。
答案:D
9.

traditionally
celebrates
the
arrival
of
spring.

D
This
spring,
you
may
be
fortunate
enough
to
have
good
weather,
a
small
piece
of
earth
and
the
energy,
enthusiasm
and
inspiration
to
plant
a
garden.
There
is
nothing
better
to
shake
off
the
boredom
and
dullness
of
winter
than
to
dig
in
the
earth,
plant
some
seeds
and
watch
them
grow.
A
small
garden
can
produce
something
extra
fresh
for
dinner,
flowers
for
the
table
and
a
feeling
of
accomplishment.
It
is
work,
but
it
is
ever
so
rewarding.
What
about
your
life
garden?
Just
as
a
beautiful
garden
is
a
work
in
progress,
so
is
the
garden
in
your
mind.
It
takes
effort,
planning,
nurturing(培育)
and
weeding(除草)
to
grow
a
garden.
What
have
you
planted—what
have
you
allowed
to
take
root?
Is
your
life
the
picture
of
a
well
laid
out
garden
or
an
untidy
mixture
of
plants,
trees
and
weeds
whose
seeds
were
blown
way
and
took
root?
We
have
all
heard
phrases
like
“sowing
seeds
of
doubt”
or
“sowing
seeds
of
discontent”.
We
can
make
a
careful
choice
whether
to
allow
them
to
take
root
in
our
lives
or
throw
them
out
of
our
garden.
Negative
energy
and
words,
like
weeds,
will
spread
quickly
if
left
unchecked.
Find
a
good
“weed
killer”—a
book,
an
inspirational
story,
or
positive
affirmations(肯定)—to
help
you
get
rid
of
the
thoughts
that
reduce
the
beauty
of
your
garden.
Plant
as
many
seeds
of
joy
and
beauty
as
you
can
in
your
own
life
and
in
the
lives
of
the
people
with
whom
you
live
and
work
every
day.
Grow
a
gratitude
garden,
a
peace
garden
and
a
dream
garden.
Look
after
them
daily.
If
you
give
them
time
and
energy,
you
will
have
a
rich
harvest
of
success,
happiness
and
peace
of
mind.
12.
Why
does
the
author
tell
us
the
benefits
of
growing
a
garden?
A.
To
lead
to
the
life
garden.
B.
To
introduce
rewarding
work.
C.
To
show
his
love
for
gardening.
D.
To
suggest
a
way
to
kill
boredom.
解析:推理判断题。分析第一段可知,作者通过描述花园带给人们的愉悦而引出“生命的花园”,即通过类比引出本文的主题。
答案:A
13.
In
what
way
is
our
life
garden
similar
to
a
beautiful
garden?
A.
It
changes
all
the
time.
B.
It
needs
our
effort
and
nurturing.
C.
It
can
make
us
happy
and
grateful
in
life.
D.
It
is
full
of
both
positive
and
negative
energy.
解析:细节理解题。由第二段中的“Just
as
a
beautiful
garden
is
a
work
in
progress,
so
is
the
garden
in
your
mind.
It
takes
effort,
planning,
nurturing
and
weeding
to
grow
a
garden.”可知,我们生命的花园也需要我们的努力和培育才能有好的结果,这跟我们现实生活中的花园是一样的。
答案:B
14.
Why
does
the
author
compare
negative
energy
and
words
to
weeds?
A.
They
are
a
natural
part
of
life.
B.
They
are
often
left
unchecked.
C.
They
are
difficult
to
be
removed.
D.
They
need
to
be
removed
before
they
spread.
解析:推理判断题。由第三段中的“Negative
energy
and
words,
like
weeds,
will
spread
quickly
if
left
unchecked.”可知,负能量和充满负能量的语言就像杂草一样,如果不及时清除就会迅速蔓延。
答案:D
15.
Which
of
the
following
can
be
regarded
as
a
weed

a
dull
book.

Expressing
our
discontent.
C.
Having
positive
self-talks.
D.
Pulling
up
weeds
in
the
garden.
解析:细节理解题。由第三段中的“a
book,
an
inspirational
story,
or
positive
affirmations”可知,我们内心积极的自我交谈可以清除我们的负能量,即为“杂草清理剂”。
答案:C

With
today’s

play
is
one
of

privileges(特权)
of
a

and
for
this
reason,
there
is
a
special
day
devoted
to
play—World
Play
Day.
It
is
celebrated
on
28
May
each
year
in
over
40
countries
around
the
world.
Nationally,
World
Play
Day
has
been
celebrated
at
various
Toy
Libraries,
ECD
Centres
and
Government
Departments
for
the
past
five
years.
Each
year
has
seen
a
new
theme
and
a
new
focus,
although
the
aim
is
always
the
same—for
children
to
let
go
of
the
stresses
of
daily
life
and
play.
The
theme
of
the
inaugural
World
Play
Day
in
2014
was
“we
create
time
to
play”.
In
2015
it
was“play
is
fun”;
2016
focused
on
“play
for
all

2017
saw
the
theme
“sustainable(可持续的)
play”
take

at
the
heart
of
2018
was
“free
play”.
Vanessa
Mentor,
the
Early
Childhood
Development
expert
at
Afrika
Tikkun
says,
“Play
is
of
the
greatest
importance
for
the
developing
child.
It
is
through
play
at
an
early
age
that
children
learn
to
connect
with
the
world
around
them
and
interact
with
the
people
in
their
lives.
Play
allows
them
to
explore
the
world
where
they
can
develop
new
abilities,
overcome
fears
and
increase
their
level
of
confidence.
It
allows
children
to
use
their
imagination
and
creativity.
Physical
play
also
leads
to
active
lifestyles
and
healthy
bodies.
The
theme
of
‘free
play’
is
very
fitting
because
play
time
is
when
children
feel
the
most
free.
Play
time
is
their
time.”
So,
whether
you
have
children,
play
with
them,
or
consider
yourself
“a
big
kid”.
Anyone
can
celebrate
World
Play
Day
on
28

Many
Chinese
people
will
wonder
what
presents
to
get
for
their

on
Mother’s
Day,
but
not
many
know
Mother’s
Day
is
actually
a
festival
from

Mother’s

originated
in
America
during
the
early
20th
century.
The
festival
spread
to
China
as

Why
did
a

In
fact,
traditional
Chinese
culture
has
always
encouraged
filial(孝顺的)

to
parents.
There
are
many
stories
which
show
filial

For

the

tells
us
the
filial

of
Emperor
Wen
of
the
Western

His

for
three

Also,
mothers’
love
is
a
repeated
subject
in
ancient
Chinese
poems,
like
“Song
of
the
Parting
Son”
by
Meng
Jiao,
a
poet
of
the
Tang
Dynasty.
Now
this
poem
is
still
a
must
in
the
school
textbooks.
Children
in
China
are
brought
up
with
the
education
of
filial
devotion.
On
special
days,
people
often
use
roses
or
forget-me-nots
to
express
love.
Carnations
are
considered
as
the
perfect
flowers
for
mothers
around
the
world,
but
few
know
that
China
has
its
own
for
mothers—the
tiger
lily.
Love
for
mothers
can
have
different
ways
of
expression.
What
matters
most
is
love,
not
the
festival
itself.
What
mothers
truly
want
is
perhaps
just
a
simple
expression
of
love
from
their
children.

答案:
Outer
Space
Exploration,
Yes
or
No??
The
other
day
at
a
class
meeting
we
had
an
argument
over
whether
it
was
necessary
to
carry
out
outer
space
exploration.?
Some
of
us
thought
it
important
to
research
outer
space
because,
first
of
all,
people
can
get
a
better
understanding
of
outer
space
through
their
exploration.
Second,
new
resources
can
be
found
there
for
human
use.
Third,
this
exploration
can
possibly
bring
about
new
living
space
for
humans.
However,
others
thought
very
differently.
They
said
this
kind
of
exploration
is
much
too
costly.
Besides,
it
is
very
dangerous
for
astronauts
to
do
such
work.
In
my
opinion,
people
should
be
pioneering
and
therefore
such
exploration
of
outer
space
is
worth
trying
out.
第四节(满分25分)
阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。
Speed
is
very
important
in
avalanche(雪崩)
rescues.
There
will
be
narrow
chances
to
escape
if
a
skier
is
buried
for
30
minutes
or
more.
Now
that
30
minutes
can
mean
the
difference
between
life
and
death
for
a
skier
lost
on
a
snowy
mountain,
most
people
would
depend
on
life-saving
dogs.
Noble
works
as
a
rescue
team
member
in
a
vacation
land,
California.
He
tells
us,
“Dogs
run
fastest
when
an
accident
happens.”
His
partner
Wylee,
a
life-saving
dog,
can
search
an
accident
scene
the
size
of
a
football
field.
It
only
needs
5
to
10
minutes.
However,
5
rescue
team
members
have
to
spend
a
couple
of
hours
in
the
same
area.
Apart
from
its
excellent
speed,
Noble
chooses
Wylee
as
his
partner
partly
because
it
weighs
only
about
half
what
other
kinds
of
dogs
weigh.
Rescue
team
members
have
to
carry
their
dogs
to
search
sites
in
addition
to
carrying
60-pound
backpacks
with
food,
water
and
other
equipment.
The
dogs
need
the
lift
so
that
they
don’t
get
tired
before
they
start
working.
There
aren’t
adequate
data
on
how
often
dogs
take
part
in
avalanche
searches
or
how
often
they
are
able
to
help
local
people
in
danger.
But
dogs
don’t
save
that
many
people.
That’s
because
there
aren’t
that
many
to
save.
A
quarter
of
people
in
danger
die
from
serious
injuries
before
the
snow
stops
moving.
Of
those
buried
who
weren’t
killed
by
injuries,
half
die
within
20
minutes.
If
there
is
a
chance
of
rescue,
though,
the
dogs
also
cut
search
time
for
the
remains.
Erica
Mueller,
a
famous
director,
wanted
to
see
how
the
life-saving
dogs
worked,
so
she
volunteered
to
spend
part
of
an
hour
in
a
roomy
snow
cave
waiting
to
be
found.
She
was
armed
with
a
radio
and
was
wearing
several
layers
to
stay
warm.
After
being
rescued
by
Wylee,
she
said,
“I
can’t
talk
like
a
survivor,
but
it
was
definitely
a
cool
way
to
see
how
well
trained
those
dogs
are.”

North
America
will
have
six
more
weeks
of
winter,
says
“Punxsutawney
Phil”,the
most
famous
groundhog(土拨鼠)
in
the
United
States.
Every
year,
thousands
of
people
from
across
the
U.S.
travel
to
Punxsutawney,
Pennsylvania.
On
the
night
of
February
1,
they
go
to
a
hill
called
Gobbler’s
Knob.
There,
they
wait
until
sunrise,
when
Phil
leaves
his
home
to
look
for
his
shadow.
Tradition
says
that
if
the
animal
sees
his
shadow,
there
will
be
six
more
weeks
of
winter
weather.
But
if
skies
are
cloudy
and
no
dark
shape
appears,
Americans
can
expect
spring
to
arrive
early.
Groundhog
Day
is
said
to
come
from
a
European
tradition
called
“Candlemas”.
February
2
was
the
middle
of
winter,
and
in
Europe,
clergymen
would
give
candles
to
people
at
religious
services.
When
lit,
the
candles
brightened
up
the
community
in
the
dead
of
winter.
Later,
in
Germany,
the
tradition
changed,
and
people
instead
began
looking
for
signs
of
increased
sunlight
and
changes
in
the
weather.
If
an
animal
saw
its
shadow
on
Candlemas
Day,
this
meant
six
more
weeks
of
winter,
or
the
“Second
Winter”.
The
tradition
came
to
North
America
when
German
immigrants
arrived
in
what
is
now
the
eastern
state
of
Pennsylvania.
They
chose
the
groundhog
as
the
animal
to
continue
the
tradition.
The
first
official
Groundhog
Day
at
Gobbler’s
Knob
was
held
in
1887.
The
event
has
continued
there
ever
since
and
has
become
part
of
American
culture.
Other
states
now
celebrate
their
own
Groundhog

groundhog.
In
North
Carolina,
his
name
is
Sir
Walter
Wally.
In
West
Virginia,
people
turn
to
French
Creek

Groundhog
Day
has
also
been
popular
in
American
media.
In
the
1993
film
Groundhog
Day,
a
reporter
visits
Punxsutawney
for
the
big
event,
but
becomes
stuck
in

He
then
has
to

the

over
and
over
again,
until
he
becomes
a

person.

答案:
It
is
universally
accepted
that
filial
piety
is
an
important
virtue
in
China.
It
means
respecting
and
caring
for
parents
and
the
elderly.?
Take
my
parents
for
example.
After
my
grandma
died
last
year,
my
parents
spent
much
time
chatting
with
my
grandpa,
accompanying
him
on
walks
and
cooking
him
delicious
food.
At
first,
my
grandpa
seemed
to
be
happy
about
it,
but
as
time
went
by,
he
became
uneasy,
because
he
was
not
used
to
leading
so
comfortable
a
life.
Therefore,
my
parents
encouraged
him
to
take
part
in
some
activities
in
our
community.
They
also
encouraged
him
to
go
to
a
drawing
class
in
a
school
for
the
old,
which
gave
my
grandpa
a
great
sense
of
achievement.
He
became
happy
again.
My
parents
set
a
good
example
to
me.
In
my
opinion,
the
real
filial
piety
is
giving
the
old
what
they
really
need.

A
funny
thing
happened
to
Arthur
when
he
was
on
the
way
to
work
one
day.
As
he
walked
along
Park
Avenue
near
the
First
National
Bank,
he
heard
the
sound
of
someone
trying
to
start
a
car.
He
tried
again
and
again
but
couldn’t
get
the
car
moving.
Arthur
turned
and
looked
inside
at
the
face
of
a
young
man
who
looked
worried.
“It
seems
that
you’ve
got
a
problem,”
Arthur
said.
“I’m
afraid
so.
I’m
in
a
big
hurry
and
I
can’t
start
my
car.”
“Is
there
anything
I
can
do
to
help?”
Arthur
asked.
The
young
man
looked
at
the
two
suitcases
in
the
back
seat
and
then
said,
“Thanks.
If
you’re
sure
it
wouldn’t
be
too
much
trouble,
you
could
help
me
get
these
suitcases
into
a
taxi.”
“No
trouble
at
all.
I’d
be
glad
to
help.”
The
young
man
got
out
and
took
one
of
the
suitcases
from
the
back
seat.
After
placing
it
on
the
ground,
he
turned
to
get
the
other
one.
Just
as
Arthur
picked
up
the
first
suitcase
and
started
walking,
he
heard
the
loud
noise
of
an
alarm.
It
was
from
the
bank.
There
had
been
a
robbery!
Park
Avenue
had
been
quiet
a
moment
before.
Now
the
air
was
filled
with
the
sound
of
the
alarm
and
the
shouts
of
people
running
from
all
directions.
Cars
stopped
and
the
passengers
joined
the
crowd
in
front
of
the
bank.
People
asked
each
other,
“What
happened?”
But
everyone
had
a
different
answer.
Arthur,
still
carrying
the
suitcase,
turned
to
look
at
the
bank
and
walked
right
into
the
young
woman
in
front
of
him.
She
looked
at
the
suitcase
and
then
at
him.
Arthur
was
surprised.
“Why
is
she
looking
at
me
like
that?”
he
thought.
“The
suitcase!
She
thinks
I’m
the
bank
thief!”
Arthur
looked
around
at
the
crowd
of
people.
He
became
frightened,
and
without
another
thought,
he
started
to
run.

第四节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
It
was
late
spring
when
my
mum
and
I
were
driving
through
the
countryside.
Back
then
I
was
13
years
old
and
always
felt
unhappy
with
Mum.
However,
little
did
I
know
that
this
trip
was
going
to
be
a
special
one.
A
pot
of
flowers
sat
in
the
back
seat,
whose
pleasant
smell
filled
the
car.
Suddenly,
in
the
middle
of
nowhere,
my
mum
pulled
over.
“What
are
you
doing?”
I
cried,
fearing
that
the
car
had
broken
down
and
we’d
be
stuck
there,
so
far
from
home.
Fortunately,
that
wasn’t
the
case.
My
mum
hopped
out
of
the
car,
grabbing
the
flowers
from
the
back
seat.
“It’ll
just
be
a
minute,”
she
called
back
through
the
open
windows.
Impatiently,
I
cast
my
eyes
towards
the
edge
of
the
road
before
they
settled
on
a
little
sign
showing
that
it
was
a
nursing
home.
I
looked
back
to
the
building,
somewhat
annoyed,
as
my
mum
reappeared
empty-
handed.
Before
she
started
the
car,
curiosity
drove
me
to
ask,
“Do
you
know
someone
there?”
She
shook
her
head.
“Then
what
did
you
do
with
the
flowers?”
She
smiled
slightly,
“I
gave
them
to
the
waiter.”
“What?”
She
laughed
at
my
confusion.
“I
told
the
receptionist
to
give
the
flowers
to
whoever
needed
them,
especially
those
who
haven’t
received
any
in
a
while.”
I
kept
silent
for
a
moment.
Not
long
after
we
went
on
with
our
driving,
I
spoke
again,
“Did
you
leave
your
name?”
To
this
she
answered
instantly,
“No.
Leaving
flowers
there
for
someone
who
will
appreciate
them
makes
me
feel
good,
which
is
enough
of
a
thank
for
me.”
Suddenly,
still
thinking
about
Mum’s
deeds,
I
heard
something
burst
loudly.
It
was
our
car
that
broke
down!
Nothing
could
be
worse,
because
neither
my
mum
nor
I
understood
how
to
repair
it,
and
we
didn’t
know
where
the
garage
was.
It
also
seemed
impossible
to
wait
for
any
passer-by,
since
we
had

along
the

rooted
herself
against
the
car
worrying
about
what
could
be
done.
But
after
waiting
in
vain
for
a
considerable
time,
Mum
and
I
decided
to
walk
back
the
road
to
the
nursing
home
and
seek
help.
When
we
arrived,
the
receptionist
was
surprised,
but
warmly
helped
us
contact
the
garage.
There,
the
old
men
who
had
received
the
flowers
were
excited
to
meet
us,
talking
about
how
great
that
day
was.
It
amazed
us
what
random
actions
of
kindness
could
mean
to
the
people
who
received
them.
While
we
were
laughing
and
talking
merrily,
we
received
the
news
that
the
garage
had
got
our
car
repaired.
Paragraph
2:
As
we
drove
along,
a
flower
shop
came
into
sight
on
the
road.
I
asked
Mum
to
pull
over
and
paced
quickly
into
the
flower
shop,
where
a
bunch
of
flowers
in
full
bloom
caught
my
eye.
Having
witnessed
the
effect
of
kindness,
I
decided
to
send
Mum
the
sweet
flowers.
Mum
tried
to
conceal
her
excitement,
but
the
glittering
tears
failed
her.
Through
this
trip,
I
discovered
that,
despite
my
occasional
anger
at
her,
I
actually
felt
proud
of
her.
This
was
the
trip
of
my
life.Unit

A
Vidal
first
experienced
Brazil’s
carnival
celebrations
as
a
baby
living
in
Salvador,
the
capital
of
Bahia
State.
Before
he
was
even
one
year
old,
his
mother
took
him
to
his
first
carnival
event.
The
cultural
traditions
of
Salvador
have
stuck
with
him.
And,
Vidal,
a
trained
musician,
now
performs
the
typical
music
of
Bahia
in
the
U.S.
He
often
plays
in
the
Washington
area.
February
is
the
carnival
season
in
Brazil
and
other
countries
around
the
world.
Even
the
Washington
area
celebrates
the
season.
Last
week,
Vidal,
Brazilian
singer-songwriter
Cissa
Paz
and
other
musicians
performed
here
for
a
carnival
celebration.
Performing
in
Washington
and
other
U.S.
cities
has
helped
Vidal
and
Paz
stay
close
to
their
Brazilian
roots(根).
“Living
in
the
U.S.
now
and
not
being
able
to
enjoy
carnival
as
I
used
to
in
Brazil
with
my
friends
and
family
is
really
heartbreaking.
And
that
was
the
reason
why
I
decided
to
start
making
my
own
events—carnival
parties—just
to
get
connected
to
my
roots,
to
my
happiness.”
It
may
come
as
a
surprise,
but
Washington
is
said
to
have
one
of
the
largest
followings
for
Brazilian
culture
in
the
U.S.
This
year
alone,
there
are
more
than
twelve
carnival
celebrations
in
the
Washington
area.
Here,
the
season
isn’t
celebrated
on
city
streets
as
in
Brazil,
where
it
is
warm
summer.
February
is
one
of
Washington’s
coldest
months.So,
the
events
take
place
at
theatres,
restaurants

other
places.
Carnival

Family
Relationships
The
concept
of
family
is
different
in
the
U.S.
compared
to
country
like
India.
Most
American
families
consist
of
a
mother
and
a
father
with
an
average
of
1-3
children.
It
is
very
common
in
most
families
that
both
the
mother
and
the
father
are
employed
full
time
and
are
at
work
while
their
children
are
at
school
or
a
daycare
centre.
Time
Punctuality(守时)
Most
Americans
are
very
punctual.
Most
people
arrive
exactly
on
time
or
a
few
minutes
early
for
an
appointment.
Although
most
high-tech
jobs
don’t
require
exact
arrival
and
departure
times,
most
people
at
most
jobs
arrive
on
time
and
work
hard.
If
there
is
an
unexpected
delay,
it
is
customary(惯常的)
to
inform
the
other
party
by
calling
them
about
the
delay
and
apologise
immediately
upon
meeting.
It
is
said
that
many
Indians
don’t
accept
this
concept
of
being
on
time
in
a
non-work
related
environment.
Most
people
are
late
for
social
gatherings
like
parties
or
dinners.
Social
Matters
In
India,
people
of
the
same
sex
hold
hands
or
touch
shoulders
as
a
gesture
of
friendship.
Never
do
that
in
the
U.S.
If
you
are
male
and
hold
another
man’s
hand
or
put
your
arm
around
his
shoulder,
you
might
be
considered
weird.
Also,
unless
you
have
a
close
relationship,
you
should
keep
your
distance
even
from
the
people
of
the
opposite
sex.
At
the
office,
in
public,
and
at
home,
people
keep
a
comfortable
distance
while
sitting
next
to
each
other.
People
speak
softly
and
in
low
voices.
In
general
conversation,
your
voice
should
not
be
too
loud.
Have
the
same
manners
while
talking
on
the
phone
so
you
don’t
disturb
those
around
you.
5.
Who
is
the
passage
most
probably
written
for?
A.
The
Chinese
who
live
in
the
U.S.
B.
The
Indians
who
will
visit
the
U.S.
C.
The
Americans
who
will
travel
to
India.
D.
Those
who
want
to
know
about
American
lifestyle.

the
Indians?

in

parents
leave
their

We’re
told
to
buy
environmentally
friendly
cars
and
change
the
old
electrical
items
in
our
home.
But
what
if
you’re
a
teenager
and
not
in
control
of
such
things?
Worse—your
parents
have
more
important
things
to
worry
about
than
global
warming(全球变暖).
 9
But
you’re
completely
wrong;
there
are
many
things
you
can
do.?
Take
a
shower
instead
of
a
bath.
When
taking
a
shower,
don’t
use
too
much
time.
Try
to
keep
it
within
10
minutes.
 10
Make
it
a
kind
of
game,
trying
to
beat
your
old
“score”
every
time
you
take
a
shower.?
 11
For
example,
buy
recyclable
pens
that
can
be
filled
with
ink(油墨)
rather
than
pens
that
get
thrown
away
after
being
used.
If
you
have
papers,
bottles
or
whatever,
don’t
throw
them
away.
Instead,
send
them
to
the
recycling
company
in
your
area.?
Talk
about
pollution
and
global
warming
with
your
parents.
 12
They
wouldn’t
mind
a
few
suggestions
every
now
and
again.
So
be
patient
and
influence
them
gradually.
Then
you
might
find
they
will
be
interested
in
living
a
green
life.?
Haven’t
got
any
ideas
for
your
birthday
presents?
 13
Recycled
notebooks
or
solar-powered
chargers
...
There
are
lots
of
useful
and
green
things
you
can
buy.
And
there
will
be
an
added
warm
feeling
on
your
birthday.?
A.
Consider
a
green
idea.
  B.
You
don’t
use
so
much
energy.
  C.
Try
buying
things
that
can
be
recycled.
  D.
Don’t
turn
the
heat
all
the
way
up,
either.
  E.
You
might
think
as
a
teen;
you
can’t
do
much
to
help.
  F.
Many
adults
don’t
care
about
environmental
protection.
  G.
Don’t
push
them
to
be
greener
because
that
may
make
them
angry.

答案:C
B
It
isn’t
easy
being
a
princess.
A
princess
addresses
large
crowds
and
uses
perfect
manners.
A
princess
must
always
be
polite
and
sweet
and
sometimes
repairs
car
engines
and
fixes
tires.
Princess
Elizabeth

really
did
so.
Before
she
was
the
Queen
of
England,
Princess
Elizabeth
wanted
to
join
the
ATS,
a
female
branch
of
the
British
military.
It
was
in
World
War

that
women
worked
at
jobs
traditionally
held
by
men.
Elizabeth
was
a
teenager
and
first
had
to
convince(使信服)
her
parents
of
her
plan.
Her
parents
thought
it
was
too
dangerous,
but
she
would
not
take
no
for
an
answer.
“I
ought
to
do
as
other
girls
of
my
age
do,”
she
said
firmly.
After
some
months,
her
parents
finally
agreed.
Princess
Elizabeth
did
not
receive
any
special
treatment
in
the
ATS.
The
only
thing
that
was
different
was
that
she
returned
to
Windsor
Castle
each
night
to
sleep.
When
she
arrived
at
the
ATS
camp
for
her
first
day
of
training,
she
was
greeted
by
a
jacked-up
car
with
its
wheels
off.
In
the
following
weeks,
she
learned
to
take
apart
an
engine
and
then
assemble(组装)
it.
The
princess
loved
the
training,
admitting,
“I’m
a
mechanic
at
last.
I’ve
scraped
the
skin
off
my
knuckles.”
Princess
Elizabeth
worked
on
cars,
trucks,
and
even
tank
engines.
She
also
learned
to
read
maps
and
drive
cars,
ambulances,
and
military
trucks.
To
complete
her
ATS
training,
she
was
required
to
drive
a
big
truck
on
her
own.
The
King
and
Queen
thought
driving
a
truck
was
too
dangerous,
but
before
they
could
let
her
know
how
they
felt,
they
discovered
Elizabeth
driving
a
truck
onto
the
palace
grounds.
She
had
driven
from
the
ATS
camp
through
the
busy
London
streets
all
by
herself.
Now
at
her
old
age,
she
still
drives—sometimes
in
London
but
more
often
around
her
large
property
at
Balmoral
Castle
in
Scotland.
Being
a
queen
requires
a
lot
of
hard
work,
but
it
can
be
fun
as
well.
Queen
Elizabeth
loves
horses
and
still
rides
four
times
each
week.
She
still
likes
to
get
a
little
dirty.
She
actively
manages
her
estate
farm
at
Balmoral
and
is
often
seen
hiking
through
the
countryside
there.
4.
Why
was
Elizabeth
such
a
special
princess?
A.
Because
she
did
many
jobs
always
done
by
men.
B.
Because
she
joined
the
army.
C.
Because
she
was
sent
abroad
to
fight
against
the
enemy.
D.
Because
she
liked
to
repair
some
broken
cars
and
trucks.

We
live
in
a
world
where
we
want
everything
instantly.
In
this
instant
world
it
is
hard
to
succeed
in
anything.
To
achieve
your
goal
you
first
have
to
change
your
life
from
instantly
to
persistently(坚持地).
Persistence
is
the
course
you
need
to
set.
When
you
change
your
expectancy
from
instantly
to
persistently
you
will
gain
an
advantage
of
time
that
many
do
not
have.
Time
works
against
those
who
live
instantly.
Opportunities
are
never
seen
because
when
something
doesn’t
happen
instantly
people
move
on
to
the
next
thing
on
their
list
and
consider
the
current
goal
a
failure.
Persistent
people
have
the
advantage
of
time.
It
allows
them
to
step
back,
observe
and
assess
the
progress
of
the
goal
they
are
pursuing(追求).
Some
things
take
longer
to
develop;
some
just
need
to
be
left
there
for
a
while
to
find
their
own
way.
When
you
live
instantly
you
gain
and
lose
instantly.
Many
times
you
do
not
know
how
you
got
there
or
how
to
get
back
because
it
is
not
repeatable.
When
you
live
persistently
you
learn
how
things
work,
how
to
correct
a
plan
and
how
to
guide
it
to
make
it
successful.
You
do
not
panic
because
you
know
you
have
more
than
enough
time.
Slow
down
and
take
time
to
enjoy
the
journey.
If
what
you
are
doing
is
not
fun
then
stop
doing
it
and
do
something
else.
Everything
you
do
should
be
in
pursuit
of
a
better
tomorrow
than
you
had
yesterday.
You
should
take
time
to
develop
your
abilities
to
reach
your
goals.
Do
not
get
discouraged
just
because
your
success
is
not
instant.
Celebrate
each
step
along
the
way.
People
who
live
instantly
don’t
take
time
to
appreciate
what
they
have
accomplished.
They
are
just
looking
for
the
next
thing
that
they
can
get
instantly.
You
must
be
grateful
for
the
time
it
takes
to
reach
your
goal.
Persistence
will
get
you
there
if
you
really
want
to
get
there.
12.
Why
will
people
who
want
things
instantly
fail
in
many
things?
A.
They
want
greater
efficiency.
B.
They
don’t
stick
to
their
goal.
C.
They
often
change
their
lifestyle.
D.
They
tend
to
pursue
a
higher
target.
解析:细节理解题。根据第二段最后一句中的“Opportunities
are
never
seen
because
when
something
doesn’t
happen
instantly
people
move
on
to
the
next
thing”可以推断出那些想马上就成功的人太急于求成,对自己的目标不坚持,自然难以成功。故选B。

D.
An

解析:推理判断题。第二段讲到那些想要马上成功的人看到事情没有马上发生就立刻转到另外一件事情上去了,他们缺少对目标的坚持,而那些坚持不懈的人的主要优点在于他们的坚持和毅力。故选A。
答案:A

解析:细节理解题。根据最后一段中的“Persistence
will
get
you

if
you

C.
To

D.

解析:主旨大意题。文章主要论述了想马上就成功的人的失败而坚持不懈的人的成功,从中可以看出作者是建议我们要学会坚持这门艺术。故选D。
答案:D
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
根据下面短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
While
it
is
important
to
maintain
good
habits,
it
is
equally
important
to
learn
how
to
break
bad
habits
if
you
want
to
achieve
success
in
life.
Here
are
some
tips
to
get
you
to
start.
The
first
step
in
breaking
bad
habits
is
to
identify
them.
Only
after
identifying
them
can
you
decide
to
do
something
about
them.
 16
For
example,
you
may
ask
yourself,
“Is
the
habit
holding
me
back
from
achieving
my
goal?
Does
the
habit
make
me
feel
good
or
bad?”?
 17
Then
you
may
listen
to
the
things
that
people
say
about
you.
Are
people
saying
the
same
negative
things
about
you?
It’s
easy
to
become
defensive
when
someone
says
something
about
us
we
don’t
like,
and
let’s
face
it.
 18
Once
you
have
identified
your
bad
habits,
it’s
time
to
break
them.
First,
you
should
introduce
something
new
and
meaningful
in
your
life
to
replace
the
bad
habits.
 19
If
you
hung
around
at
the
bars
after
work,
replace
it
by
going
to
the
gym
instead.
Or
if
you
sat
and
watched
TV
for
hours,
you
may
work
on
a
task
that
needs
to
be
done.?
 20
Write
down
the
efforts
you
make
to
change
them,
and
also
the
results
of
your
actions.
And
write
down
how
you
feel
when
you
successfully
change
one
of
your
bad
habits.
If
you
can
read
and
reflect
on
how
you
feel
about
the
progress
you’ve
made,
it
may
motivate
you
to
continue
to
work
on
changing
other
things.?
A.
Sometimes
you
may
need
advice
on
breaking
bad
habits
from
other
people.
B.
First,
you
may
ask
yourself
how
you
feel
about
a
habit.
C.
You
may
come
up
with
a
plan
to
break
your
bad
habits.
D.
Meanwhile,
keep
a
diary
of
the
bad
habits
you
desire
to
change.
E.
Sometimes
the
truth
hurts.
F.
Otherwise
there
is
an
empty
space
in
your
life
where
the
bad
habits
could
go
back.
G.
There
are
times
when
it
can
be
difficult
to
identify
your
bad
habits.

第四节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
It
was
the
middle
of
the
day
with
bright
sun,
blue
skies,
green
grass,
and
a
soft
breeze(微风).
It
was
a
great
day
to
play
outside
and
the
best
day
of
my
life
because
I
got
a
new
ball
and
a
new
bike
as
my
sixth
birthday
presents,
and
I
was
visiting
my
cousin,
Kristy,
at
her
house.
“Here
I
go!”
shouted
David
while
kicking
my
new
ball.
David
lived
next
door
and
was
older
than
me.
I
thought
he
was
a
wild
child,
but
he
was
actually
very
kind.
The
ball
went
flying
as
if
it
were
going
to
space.
“That
was
high!”
Kristy
said
in
surprise
and
we
went
after
the
ball.
We
all
had
a
great
time.
Later
we
had
supper
and
the
food
my
aunt
made
was
good.
While
Kristy
was
helping
do
the
dishes,David
and
I
ran
outside
to
play.
We
started
taking
turns
riding
my
bike.
David
suggested
that
we
ride
it
to
the
forest.
And
I
agreed.
David
and
I
got
on
the
bike
and
David
started
going
fast.
As
we
rode
through
the
forest,
I
felt
the
wind
brushing
my
face.
It
felt
so
great
and
free.
Suddenly
the
bike
hit
a
fallen
branch
and
we
went
flying
off
the
bike.
Lying
on
the
ground,
I
felt
dizzy(眩晕).
I
checked
myself
for
injuries
and
saw
some
but
they
didn’t
bother
me.
“David!”
I
shouted
out
loudly
and
anxiously.
“Hey,”
said
a
voice.
I
turned
my
head
and
it
was
David,
who
was
standing
behind
me,
holding
my
broken
bike.
At
the
sight
of
my
disabled
bike,
I
was
so
sad
that
I
couldn’t
hold
back
my
tears.
It
took
David
some
time
to
calm
me
down.

答案:
Paragraph
1:
When
we
realised
it
was
time
to
walk
home,
we
found
ourselves
lost.
It
was
getting
darker
and
darker.
I
felt
so
scared
that
tears
rolled
down
my
face
again.
David
attempted
to
comfort
me.
He
told
me
that
he
once
made
some
marks
on
the
trees
in
the
forest,
which
might
help
us
find
the
way
home.
Therefore,
we
made
efforts
to
look
for
the
marks
but
in
vain.
Having
walked
anxiously
for
about
an
hour
in
the
forest,
we
failed
to
find
our
way
out.
Paragraph
2:
It
was
completely
dark
when
we
saw
fireworks
being
set
off
in
the
distance.
We
ran
excitedly
in
that
direction
as
fast
as
possible.
Soon
we
found
my
aunt’s
house,
in
front
of
which
my
cousin
Kristy
was
holding
some
fireworks
and
lighting
them.
Seeing
us
back
safe,
Kristy
cheerfully
hugged
us.
She
told
us
that
when
noticing
we
had
been
away
for
long,
she
was
concerned
about
our
safety.
She
set
off
fireworks
to
draw
our
attention
and
guide
us.
It
was
an
unforgettable
experience.
Without
David’s
comfort
and
Kristy’s
fireworks,
I
would
have
been
lost
in
the
forest
forever.Unit

country,
but
most
of
the
celebrations
will
