Step1 Revision:
Can you remember the letters Aa----Nn Please write down.
Step2 Preview:
⑴Introduce each other with the students.(Let students write his or her name in Pinyin on his or her card.Put the card on the desk.
⑵Ask some students to read the following:
hi, morning, Good morning, Miss, goodbye, bye
Step3 Warming-up
Make the students talk with their partners with the following sentences:
1.---Good morning. --- Good morning.
2.---Goodbye. ---Goodbye / Bye.
3. ---Hi, Andy. ---Hi, Lily.
( Practice in pairs, in groups)
Step4 Presentation.
1. 1) Let the students put the cards on the desks.
2) Say to the Ss (stands for: students): Hi, boys and girls. And then, write the sentence on the blackboard.
3) Tell the Ss: From now on, you can greet me with “Hi, Mr/Miss/Mrs ….”
Practice:
T: Look at a name on the paper, and greet him/her with the pattern above. “ Hi, ….”
Encourage the Ss to greet their neighbours or deskmates, using the pattern above.
2. Presentation:
Draw a sun on the blackboard and a clock with the time 9:00 and ask: T:What do you say to your friend at this time of the day
The students may say: Good morning!
T: Write the sentence on the blackboard and say: Good morning, boys and girls! Let the Ss say: Good morning, Mr/Miss/Ms ….
Practice:
Greet a certain student with “Good morning, ….” And let him/her answer in the same way.
Ask the Ss to greet each other with “Good morning, …!”
3. Presentation:
T: Pretend to be leaving and say “Goodbye!” Encourage the Ss to answer in the same way. Then write it on the blackboard.
Tell them: You can also answer with “Bye-bye!” or “Bye!” for short. Practice: Let students make long dialogues using the patterns above.
Step5 Listening:
Ask the Ss to listen to the tape and find out four new friends on the tape.
Guiding questions: (Ask them to answer the questions one by one.)
Who are the four friends (Andy, Millie, Lily and Nick.)
Is it in the morning Yes or No (Yes.)
Who is their teacher ( Miss Fang.)
Practice:
Listen to the tape again and repeat it sentence by sentence.(Pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation)
Reading aloud this part of the text. Divide the class into groups of five. Read it aloud in parts.(Try to let more students read aloud.)
Acting-out: Number the groups, give them several minutes to get ready.
Group A, would you please come to the blackboard and act out the dialogue for us You may use your own names in your dialogue.
English Letters: Aa – Ee
Recognition: Show the card with the letter Aa on it. And say: This is Aa.
Read after the teacher in both rising tone and falling tone.
Teach the other four letters’ pronunciation in the same way.
Pay attention to the pronunciation of the letter Cc (It’s not /sei/ but /si:/.)
Tell them that Aa & Ee are vowel letters while Bb, Cc & Dd are consonant ones.

Write the letters one by one after the teacher in four-lines of the exercise books.

Read after the teacher in both rising tone and falling tone.
Teach the other four letters’ pronunciation in the same way.
Pay attention to the pronunciation of the letters Gg and Jj. They are easy to be confused.
Tell them that “Ii” is a vowel letter while the other four are consonant ones.

Step3 Warming-up
Ask some students to come to the blackboard to act out a dialogue using the patterns learned so far. The more the better, but should be reasonable.
Step4 Presentation.
New Lesson on the alphabet:
Identify some letters on the card: H, K
Tell the Ss that HK has a certain meaning which means a certain part of China “香港”.
Identify the letters: C, D.
Tell the Ss that “CD” means “ ” in Chinese.
Teach “a.m., kg, ID, KFC, NBA and DJ in the same way.
Tell the students to try their best to remember the meanings of them if possible.
Classification of the letters:
T: What vowel sound does “Aa” have (//) Write “Aa” after the phonetic symbol /ei/.
What vowel sound does “Bb” have ( /i:/ ) Write “Bb” after the phonetic symbol /i:/.
Classify the other letters in the same way as follows:

Remind the Ss of remembering them by how to read the letters rather than copy them in the exercise book and recite.
4. Presentation:
Collect some pictures of people of different ages and sexes from different countries before class, and write their family names under it.
Show a picture of a man and say: This is Mr …. We can greet him with“Hello, Mr ….” Ask the Ss to repeat after the teacher.
Show a picture of a young woman and say: This is Miss …. We can greet him with “Hello, Miss ….” Ask the Ss to repeat after the teacher.
Show a picture of an old woman and say: This is Mrs …. We can greet him with “Hello, Mrs ….” Ask the Ss to repeat after the teacher.
Show a picture of a foreign man and say: “This man’s name’s name is Robert White. You can greet him by saying “Hello, Mr. White.” But we can’t call him Mr. Robert.
5. Listening:
Now, let’s listen to a dialogue. After listening, you’ll have to answer me two questions.
Is it in the morning or in the afternoon (In the morning.)
How many people are talking in the dialogue (Three.)
Who are they (Mrs Wang, Mrs Li and Millie.)
Listen and answer the questions above.
Correct their mistakes if there is any.
6.Reading:
Next, we are going to read the dialogue. After reading, you’ll have to decide whether the following statements are true or false. If it is false, please tell us where the mistake is and how to correct it.
