(北京卷)
California
Condor's
Shocking
Recovery
California
condors
are
North
America's
largest
birds,
with
wing?length
of
up
to
3
meters.
In
the
1980s,
electrical
lines
and
lead
poisoning(铅中毒)
nearly
drove
them
to
dying
out.
Now,
electric
shock
training
and
medical
treatment
are
helping
to
rescue
these
big
birds.
In
the
late
1980s,
the
last
few
condors
were
taken
from
the
wild
to
be
bred(繁殖).Since
1992,
there
have
been
multiple
reintroductions
to
the
wild,
and
there
are
now
more
than
150
flying
over
California
and
nearby
Arizona,
Utah
and
Baja
in
Mexico.
Electrical
lines
have
been
killing
them
off.“As
they
go
in
to
rest
for
the
night,
they
just
don't
see
the
power
lines,”
says
Bruce
Rideout
of
San
Diego
Zoo.
Their
wings
can
bridge
the
gap
between
lines,
resulting
in
electrocution(电死)
if
they
touch
two
lines
at
once.
So
scientists
have
come
up
with
a
shocking
idea.
Tall
poles,
placed
in
large
training
areas,
teach
the
birds
to
stay
clear
of
electrical
lines
by
giving
them
a
painful
but
undeadly
electric
shock.
Before
the
training
was
introduced,
66%
of
setfree
birds
died
of
electrocution.
This
has
now
dropped
to
18%.
Lead
poisoning
has
proved
more
difficult
to
deal
with.
When
condors
eat
dead
bodies
of
other
animals
containing
lead,
they
absorb
large
quantities
of
lead.
This
affects
their
nervous
systems
and
ability
to
produce
baby
birds,
and
can
lead
to
kidney(肾)
failure
and
death.
So
condors
with
high
levels
of
lead
are
sent
to
Los
Angeles
Zoo,
where
they
are
treated
with
calcium
EDTA,
a
chemical
that
removes
lead
from
the
blood
over
several
days.
This
work
is
starting
to
pay
off.
The
annual
death
rate
for
adult
condors
has
dropped
from
38%
in
2000
to
5.4%
in
2011.
Rideout's
team
thinks
that
the
California
condors'
average
survival
time
in
the
wild
is
now
just
under
eight
years.“Although
these
measures
are
not
effective
forever,
they
are
vital
for
now,”
he
says.“They
are
truly
good
birds
that
are
worth
every
effort
we
put
into
recovering
them.”
4.California
condors

researchers'
interest
because
they
________.
A.are
active
at
night
B.had
to
be
bred
in
the

too
nervous
to
fly
B.has

C.can
hardly
be
gotten
rid
of
from
condors'
blood
D.makes
it

that________.
A.the
average
survival
time
of
condors
is
satisfactory
B.Rideout's
research
interest
lies
in
electric
engineering
C.the

XI'AN—China
has
introduced
various
emergency
responses
and
longterm
measures
against
air
pollution
in
the
central
and
eastern
regions.
The
air
quality
index(AQI)
for
Xi'an
reached
500
on
Wednesday
afternoon,
at
the
top
of
the
AQI
scale,
according
to
the
national
air
quality
monitoring
website.
Xi'an
weather
forecasters
predict
the
smog
will
continue
for
the
next
week
and
air
pollution
may
worsen.
“I

a
pharmacy(药店)

the
only
thing
we
can
do
to
protect
ourselves.”

a
city
government
emergency

Nearly
half
the
country,
more
than
100
cities
in

suffered
from
smog

December.
Many
have
taken
action,
including
experimenting
with
artificial
methods
to
reduce
smog,
limiting
vehicle
use

remains
to

about
the
immediacy
of
the
effects
of
these
measures.

shiny
dime(一角硬币).
Never
before
had
anyone
felt
as
wealthy
as
Bobby
did
at
that
moment.
As
he
held
his
newly?found
treasure,
warmth
spread
throughout
his
entire
body
and
he
walked
into
the
first
store.
His
excitement
quickly
turned
cold
when
the
salesperson
told
him
that
he
could
not
buy
anything
with
only
a
dime.
He
saw
a
flower_shop
and
went
inside
to
wait
in
line.
When
the
shop_owner
asked
if
he
could
help
him,
Bobby
presented
the
dime
and
asked
if
he
could
buy
one
flower
for
his
mother's
Christmas
gift.
The
shop
owner
looked
at
Bobby
and
his
ten?cent
offering.
Then
he
put
his
hand
on
Bobby's
shoulder,
saying,“You
just
wait
here
and
I'll
see
what
I
can
do
for
you.”
The
sound
of
the
door
closing
as
the
last
customer
left
pulled
Bobby
back
to
reality.
All
alone
in
the
shop,
Bobby
began
to
feel
alone
and
afraid.

(北京卷)
California
Condor's
Shocking
Recovery
California
condors
are
North
America's
largest
birds,
with
wing?length
of
up
to
3
meters.
In
the
1980s,
electrical
lines
and
lead
poisoning(铅中毒)
nearly
drove
them
to
dying
out.
Now,
electric
shock
training
and
medical
treatment
are
helping
to
rescue
these
big
birds.
In
the
late
1980s,
the
last
few
condors
were
taken
from
the
wild
to
be
bred(繁殖).Since
1992,
there
have
been
multiple
reintroductions
to
the
wild,
and
there
are
now
more
than
150
flying
over
California
and
nearby
Arizona,
Utah
and
Baja
in
Mexico.
Electrical
lines
have
been
killing
them
off.“As
they
go
in
to
rest
for
the
night,
they
just
don't
see
the
power
lines,”
says
Bruce
Rideout
of
San
Diego
Zoo.
Their
wings
can
bridge
the
gap
between
lines,
resulting
in
electrocution(电死)
if
they
touch
two
lines
at
once.
So
scientists
have
come
up
with
a
shocking
idea.
Tall
poles,
placed
in
large
training
areas,
teach
the
birds
to
stay
clear
of
electrical
lines
by
giving
them
a
painful
but
undeadly
electric
shock.
Before
the
training
was
introduced,
66%
of
setfree
birds
died
of
electrocution.
This
has
now
dropped
to
18%.
Lead
poisoning
has
proved
more
difficult
to
deal
with.
When
condors
eat
dead
bodies
of
other
animals
containing
lead,
they
absorb
large
quantities
of
lead.
This
affects
their
nervous
systems
and
ability
to
produce
baby
birds,
and
can
lead
to
kidney(肾)
failure
and
death.
So
condors
with
high
levels
of
lead
are
sent
to
Los
Angeles
Zoo,
where
they
are
treated
with
calcium
EDTA,
a
chemical
that
removes
lead
from
the
blood
over
several
days.
This
work
is
starting
to
pay
off.
The
annual
death
rate
for
adult
condors
has
dropped
from
38%
in
2000
to
5.4%
in
2011.
Rideout's
team
thinks
that
the
California
condors'
average
survival
time
in
the
wild
is
now
just
under
eight
years.“Although
these
measures
are
not
effective
forever,
they
are
vital
for
now,”
he
says.“They
are
truly
good
birds
that
are
worth
every
effort
we
put
into
recovering
them.”

B.had
to
be
bred
in
the
wild
C.are
found
only
in
California
D.almost
died
out
in
the
1980s
D 解析:推理判断题。根据第一、二段内容可知,20世纪80年代,由于触电和铅中毒,加州秃鹰濒临灭绝,20世纪80年代末,仅剩的几只秃鹰被从野外带回繁殖,由此可推断正是秃鹰濒临灭绝才引起了研究人员的注意和兴趣,故选D项。
5.According
to
Paragraph
5,
lead
poisoning________.
A.makes
condors
too
nervous
to
fly
B.has
little
effect
on

gotten
rid
of
from
condors'
blood
D.makes
it
difficult
for
condors
to

D 解析:细节理解题。根据第五段内容可知,铅中毒影响了秃鹰的神经系统和繁殖能力(affects
their
nervous
systems
and
ability
to
produce
baby
birds),并且可以导致它们肾衰竭和死亡,故A、B两项错误,D项正确;通过给秃鹰使用一种化学药物,在几天内就可以清除它们血液中的铅,故C项错误。
6.This
passage
shows
that________.
A.the

the
problem
C 解析:推理判断题。本文主要介绍了加州秃鹰濒临灭绝以及科研人员为挽救它们而展开的救援和研究工作,且实施措施有了回报(pay
off),由此可知,C项正确,排除B项;根据最后一段中的just
under
eight
years可排除A项;根据最后一段中的these

语篇解读:本文是一篇说明文。你是否参观过一个正合你心意的花园呢?你是否也想拥有一个这样完美的属于自己的花园呢?本文作者给出了打造理想花园的两个步骤。一起来看看吧!
11.F 解析:空格前描述了一个正合你心意的花园,空格后语意为“但这不是偶然发生的。它开始于……”,综观各选项,只有F项“你也可以使你自己的花园产生那样一种魔力”能与此语意衔接。本设空类型为过渡句类。
12.A 解析:由该空所在位置可知,这是一个小标题。由其后内容“有些人可能认为花园……有些人关心……然而,有很多其他原因……”可知本段的主题应该是A项“知道你为什么要做园艺工作”。文中的reasons与A项中的why是解题关键。本设空类型为段落主题句类。
13.E 解析:由本段中的Some...Others...可锁定E项中的Still
others。本设空类型为细节理解类。
14.C 解析:空格前说“但那不是重要的事情”,由此可推知空格处会指出什么才是重要的,故选C项“我们做园艺工作的体验才是重要的”。本设空类型为过渡句类。
15.G 解析:空格前说“花一些时间回忆你小时候的花园”,空格后说“然后走出去,制订计划,把你孩提时代的记忆变成你成年后的花园”。根据此语境可知答案为G项“为每一个那样的花园写下你最深刻的回忆”。而且空格后的memories与G项中的memory也相呼应。本设空类型为细节理解类。

Personally,
I

You

Moreover,
the

the

Hope
you'll

第二节 读后续写(满分25分)
阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
(2020·浙江台州五校高一联考)Bobby
was
getting
cold
sitting
out
in
his
backyard
in
the
snow.
Bobby
didn't
wear
boots;
or
rather,
he
didn't
own
any.
The
thin
sneakers
he
wore
had
a
few
holes
in
them
and
they
did
a
poor
job
of
keeping
out
the
cold.
Bobby
had
been
in
his
backyard
for
about
an
hour
already.
Try
as
he
might,
he
could
not
come
up
with
an
idea
for
his
mother's
Christmas
gift.
He
shook
his
head
as
he
thought,“This
is
useless.
Even
if
I
do
come
up
with
an
idea,
I
don't
have
any
money
for
a
gift.”
Wiping
tears
from
his
eyes,
Bobby
started
walking
down
to
the
street
where
the
shops
were.
It
wasn't
easy
being
six
without
a
father,
especially
when
he
needed
a
man
to
talk
to.
Bobby
walked
from
shop
to
shop,
looking_into
each
decorated
window.
Everything
seemed
so
beautiful
but
so
out
of
reach.
It
was
starting
to
get
dark
and
Bobby
reluctantly
turned
to
walk
home
when
suddenly
his
eyes
caught
the
glimmer(微光)
of
the
setting
sun's
rays
reflecting
on
something
on
the
roadside.
He
reached
down
and
discovered
a
shiny
dime(一角硬币).
Never
before
had
anyone
felt
as
wealthy
as
Bobby
did
at
that
moment.
As
he
held
his
newly?found
treasure,
warmth
spread
throughout
his
entire
body
and
he
walked
into
the
first
store.
His
excitement
quickly
turned
cold
when
the
salesperson
told
him
that
he
could
not
buy
anything
with
only
a
dime.
He
saw
a
flower_shop
and
went
inside
to
wait
in
line.
When
the
shop_owner
asked
if
he
could
help
him,
Bobby
presented
the
dime
and
asked
if
he
could
buy
one
flower
for
his
mother's
Christmas
gift.
The
shop
owner
looked
at
Bobby
and
his
ten?cent
offering.
Then
he
put
his
hand
on
Bobby's
shoulder,
saying,“You
just
wait
here
and
I'll
see
what
I
can
do
for
you.”
The
sound
of
the
door
closing
as
the
last
customer
left
pulled
Bobby
back
to
reality.
All
alone
in
the
shop,
Bobby
began
to
feel
alone
and
afraid.

Paragraph

Eventually
the

moved
to
the

There,
before
Bobby's
eyes,
lay
twelve
red
roses,
with
leaves
of
green
and
tiny
white
flowers
all
tied
together
with
a
big

Bobby's
heart

as
the

them

the

Slowly,
Bobby

Could

He

he

still
breathless.“Look,Mother,

Bobby
called
out
in

Mother

She
