Lesson 29: A Birthday Card
1. Teaching Aims

(2) Learning how to make a birthday card.

Make them understand: The day you were born was the hardest day for your mother, so you should thanks your mother and your motherland first on your birthday!

6. Teaching Procedure:
Class opening
Greet the class. Ask the students: How are you feeling today? Then ask some volunteers a question: Which day is your favorite day?
Step1: Lead-in
Asking some questions about birthday:
1). When is your birthday?
2). What presents can you receive on your birthday?
Step2: Present
Show a birthday card to the students, and present how to make a birthday card.
Step3: Listen and Read
1) Play the audiotape for Lesson 29 and ask the class to listen and read aloud along with the audiotape.
2) Remind the students to do their best to imitate the pronunciation they heard.
3) Learning the new words with the pictures on the multimedia let the students read as a class.
Step4: Activity
CLASS WORK: Think About It
Discuss the Think About It questions as a class. Then choose one student to answer the questions.
PAIR WORK: Let抯 Do It!
Instruct the students to read lesson 29 with a partner, then complete the exercise independently.
Check and discuss the answers as a class.
Step5: Dealing with the language points
1. She is using paper and crayons to make the card.
(1) use sth. to do sth.
eg. Jenny抯 mother is using the knife to cut the meat.
We use scissors to cut paper.
(2) paper 此处用作不可数名词,意为“纸”。
“一张纸”用 a piece of paper 表示;
“两张纸”用 two pieces of paper 表示;
“一些纸”用 some paper 表示。
paper 用作可数名词,意为“试卷;论文”, 其复数形式为papers.
eg. Hand in your papers.

2. She is putting a picture of her family on the front.
on the front 意为“在正面”;
on the front of 意为“在…的正面”。
eg. There is a cat on the front of the card.
Her name is on the front of the book.

INDEPENDENT WORK: Let抯 Do It!
1) Instruct the students to read the passage silently and finish 揕et抯 Do It! independently.
2) Students should check and correct their answers in groups.
3) Discuss the answers as a class.

1) Instruct the students to complete this exercise in groups.
