It
is
her
ordinariness
that
makes
her
extraordinary.
Unlike
many
in
the
entertainment
world,
British
singer-songwriter

name
Adele

"My
life

about
something
like
what
I
look
like,"
she
told
Rolling
Stone
magazine.
"I
don't
like
going
to
the
gym.
I
like
eating
fine
foods
and
drinking
nice
wine."
Adele
grew
up
with
her
single
mom
in
north
London.
She
is
like
any
normal
London
girl,
except
that
Adele
has
had
countless
number
one
hits
and
holds
three
Guinness
World
Records,
one
for
being
the
first
solo
female
singer
to
spend
11
straight
weeks
at
number
one
in
the
UK
chart.
Adele
started
writing
songs
at
the
age
of
15
when
she
bought
herself
a
guitar.
She
recorded
three
songs
for
a
class
project
and
posted
them
on

They
were

by
a
record
company,
and
her
career
kicked
off.
Her
first
album,
19-her
age

the
time-shot
to
number
one
in
2008.
Fans
love
her
deep,
jazzy
voice
and
Adele
has
her
own
tips
for
singing.
"It's
more
impressive,
somehow,
if
you
don't
try
to
impress,"
she
said.
"Be
natural
with
it.
Say
it
straight."
Her
chatty
London-girl
attitude
can
have
its
downsides(不利方面).
She
recently
had
to
cancel
a
tour
because
of
a
vocal
chord(声带)problem.
She
told
The
Sun
that
the
root
of
the
problem
was
"because
I
was
talking
too
much".
Adele
is
now
number
nine
in
the
Sunday
Times
Rich
List
for
British
music
stars
under
the
age
of
30,
but
she
remains
as
grounded(脚踏实地的)
as
ever.
In
a
recent
interview
with
The
Telegraph,
she
described
how
she
enjoys
her
success:
"Money
doesn't
matter
to
me
I
give
a
lot
to
Great
Ormond
Street
Hospital,
monthly
It's
important
to
me
that
I
give,
because
people
always
helped
me
and
my
mom
out
when
we
needed
it."

That
she
is

have
to

International
students
who
stayed
in
the
US
as
their
classes
moved
online
during
the
COVID
may
be
forced
to
leave,
following
Guidelines
of
the
US
Immigration
and
Customs
Enforcement
published
due
to
the
pandemic.
"You
know
I
don't
want
to
put
my
family
at
risk,
I
don't
want
to
put
myself
at
risk
to
travel
during
a
pandemic
and
go
back
to
Pakistan,
and
even
if
1
could
delay
the
program
for
a
year,
it
is
not
certain
that
I
will
get
the
visa
again."
said
a
Pakistani
student.
Many
students
say
they
need
to
be
in
the
US
for
more
than
attending
class.
As
a
PhD
student,
the
library
is
an
extremely
important
resource
for
them,
although
it
is
because
of
COVID
that
those
services
have
been
closed,
which
means
even
this
advantage
is
gone.
"You
know
more
than
90%
of
the
international
students
who
were
studying
in
the
US
when
COVID-19
hit
and
college
campuses
were
closed
have
to
remain
in
the
US
and
this
creates
such
trouble
in
their
lives
and
such
uncertainty
that
is
unreasonable,"
said
a
lady
from
a
university.
Students
outside
the
United
States
say
the
new
ruling
has
disrupted
their
plans
to
return.
"I
know
it
is
a
fact
that
when
it
comes
to
rules,
guidelines,
laws
and
stuff
like
that,
international
students
are
sort
of
treated
as
low-level
citizens.
Even
I
can't
even
use
the
word
'citizen'
to
begin
with
because
that's
what
they
make
clear
we
are
not."
The
government
said
that
the
policy
speaks
for
itself
and
that
online
coursework
is
not
worth
a
visa.
So
far,
not
any
sign
of
change
has
been
within
sigh.
As
students
are
waiting
for
the
policy
to
improve,
their
fall
programming
and
their
future
remain
in
limbo.
28.
Why
would
international
students
prefer
to
stay
in
the
US
during
the
pandemic?
A.
They
couldn't
delay
the
program
for
a
year.
B.
They
can
make
full
use
of
the
library
resource.
C.
They
can
learn
better
with
their
classes
moved
online.
D.
They
wouldn't
bring
any
potential
threat
to
their
family.
29.
What
do
students
outside
the
United
States
think
of
the
new
rule?
A.
The
new
rule
treats
them
as
American
citizens.
B.
The
new
rule
shows
great
prejudice
against
them.
C.
The
new
rule
guides
them
to
plan
to
return
to
the
US.
D.
The
new
rule
treats
them
like
low-level
students
in
school.
30.
What
is
the
government's
attitude
towards
the
new
rule?
A.
Favorable.
B.
Neutral.
C.
Unfavorable.
D.
Unclear.
31.
What
does
the
underlined
phrase
"in
limbo"
mean?
A.
Horrible.
B.
Flexible.
C.
Uncertain.
D.
Unbelievable.

So
far
this
year,
the
hole
in
the
ozone
layer(臭氧层)over
Antarctica
has
expanded
to
one
of
its
largest
sizes
and
deepest
levels
in
years,
reported
China
Daily.
So
how
big
is
the
ozone
hole?
On
Sept.
20,
the
hole
over
Antarctica
peaked
at
24.
8
million
square
kilometers,
which
is
three
times
the
size
of
the
United
States.
It
has
increased
by
8.4
million
square
kilometers
since
2019.
That
puts
it
in
about
the
same
areas
as
ozone
holes
in
2015
and
2018,
which
respectively
recorded
peaks
of
25.6
and
22.9
million
square
kilometers.
"The
2020
ozone
loss
shows
that
we
have
to
remain
cautious
and
maintain
continuous
observations,"
said
World
Meteorological
Organization
Secretary-General
Petted
Taalas.
The
ozone
layer
is
important
because
it
acts
like
a
sunscreen,
blocking
harmful
ultraviolet
light(紫外线)from
reaching
our
planet's
surface.
Without
it,
humans
and
animals
will
be
more
likely
to
experience
diseases
such
as
skin
cancers,
immune
suppression,
cataracts
and
premature
aging.
Of
course,
humans
play
a
large
role
in
the
damage
of
the
ozone
layer.
The
loss
of
ozone
in
the
Antarctic,
as
well
as
the
Arctic,
is
due
to
the
large
quantity
of
ozone-destroying
gases
caused
by
human
activity.
Once
getting
into
the
atmosphere,
these
gases
can
remain
for
many
years.
In
extremely
cold
weather
conditions,
they
result
in
chemical
reactions
that
destroy
the
ozone
layer.
"The
Arctic
stratosphere(平流层)
continues
to
be
weak
to
ozone-depleting
substances(物质)
linked
to
human
activities,"
said
Taalas.
Marcus
Rex,
a
scientist
at
the
Alfred
Wegener
Institute
in
Germany,
told
Nature
that
the
ozone
hole
doesn't
threaten
human
health
but
over
the
next
month,
there
is
a
possibility
that
it
might
move
to
areas
with
larger
population.
In
that
case,
he
recommends
more
sunscreen.
Although
it
seems
bad,
scientists
are
hopeful
that
Earth
can
heal
itself.
Researchers
believe
the
ozone
hole
will
eventually
heal
and
around
2050,
Earth's
ozone
layer
will
return
to
normal.
32.
What
do
we
know
about
the
hole
in
the
ozone
layer?
A.
It
increases
8.4
million
km'
every
year.
B.
It
is
the
first
time
for
it
to
be
this
large.
C.
It
is
24.8
million
kilometers
above
the
Earth.
D.
It
has
reached
a
similar
peak
level
in
the
past.
33.
What

When

第二节(共10小题;每小题1.5分,满分15分)
阅读下面材料,在空白处填入适当的内容(1个单词)或括号内单词的正确形式。
Do
you
remember
a
time
when
you
had
no
worries
stopping
you
from
getting
a
good
night's
rest?
56
(unfortunate),
your
happy
childhood
is
probably
a
thing
of
the
past.
A
recent
survey
57
(find)that
many
people
suffer
from
sleep
problems.
Some
arc
unable
to
fall
asleep,
some
wake
up
in
the
middle
of
the
night,
58
others
simply
do
not
get
enough
sleep.
One
of
the
reasons
why
people
fail
to
get
a
good
night's
sleep
59
(be)pressure
from
school
or
work.
Noise
pollution
and
light
pollution
in
big
cities
may
also
contribute
60
sleep
problems.
In
the
short
term,
people
with
sleep
problems
often
feel
61
(tire)and
have
trouble
concentrating.
In
the
long
term,
they
may
be
at
increased
risk
of
having
a
poor
memory.
being
overweight
and
62
(suffer)
a
heart
attack.
Sleep
problems
are
especially
dangerous
for
63
(teenager).
They
are
still
growing,
and
night
is
the
time
when
their
bodies
grow
faster.
Teenagers
who
do
not
sleep
well
may
experience
situations
64
body
development
slows
down,
and
their
health
suffers.
So,
if
you
have
trouble
getting
a
good
night's
sleep,
it
might
be
time
65
(make)some
changes
in
your
lifestyle.

Mother's
gift
I
grew
up
in
a
small
town
where
the
primary
school
was
a
ten-minute
walk
from
my
house.
When
the
noon
bell
rang,
would
race
breathlessly
home.
My
mother
would
be
standing
at
the
top
of
the
stairs,
smiling
down
at
me.
One
lunchtime
when
I
was
in
the
third
grade
will
stay
with
me
always.
I
had
been
picked
to
he
the
princess
in
the
school
play,
and
for
weeks
my
mother
had
rehearsed
my
lines
so
hard
with
me.
But
no
matter
how
easily
I
acted
at
home,
as
soon
as
I
stepped
on
stage,
every
word
disappeared
from
my
head.
Finally,
my
teacher
took
me
aside.
She
explained
that
she
had
written
a
narrator's
part
to
the
play,
and
asked
me
to
change
roles.
Her
word,
kindly
expressed,
still
hurt,
especially
when
I
saw
my
part
go
to
another
girl.
I
didn't
tell
my
mother
what
had
happened
when
I
went
home
for
lunch
that
day.
But
she
sensed
my
pain.
Instead
of
suggesting
we
practise
my
lines,
she
asked
if
I
wanted
to
walk
in
the
yard.
It
was
a
lovely
spring
day
and
the
rose
vine
was
turning
green.
Under
the
huge
trees,
we
could
see
yellow
dandelions(蒲公英)in
the
grass
in
bunches,
as
if
a
painter
had
touched
our
landscape
with
a
bit
of
gold.
I
watched
my
mother
casually
bend
down
by
one
dandelion.
"I
think
I'm
going
to
dig
up
all
these
weeds,"
she
said,
pulling
it
up
by
its
roots.
"From
now
on,
we'll
have
only
roses
in
this
garden."
"But
I
like
dandelions."
I
protested.
"All
flowers
are
beautiful-even
dandelions."
My
mother
looked
at
me
seriously.
"Yes,
every
f
lower
gives
pleasure
in
its
own
way,
doesn't
it?"
she
asked
thoughtfully.
I
nodded,
pleased
that
I
had
won
her
over.
"And
that
is
true
of
people
too,"
she
added.
"Not
everyone
can
be
a
princess,
but
there
is
no
shame
in
that."
Relieved
that
she
had
guessed
my
pain,
I
started
to
cry
as
I
told
her
what
had
happened.
She
listened
and
smiled
reassuringly.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。
"But
you
will
be
a
beautiful
narrator,"
she
said,
After
the
play,
I
took
home
the
flower.
