Since
English
biologist
Charles
Darwin
published
On
the
Origin
of
Species
in
1859,scientists
have
vastly
improved
their
knowledge
of
natural
history.However,a
lot
of
information
is
still
of
the
speculation,and
scientists
can
still
only
make
educated
guesses
at
certain
things.
One
subject
that
they
guess
about
is
why
some
400
million
years
ago,animals
in
the
sea
developed
limbs
that
allowed
them
to
move
onto
and
live
on
land.
Recently,an
idea
that
occurred
to
the
US
paleontologist(古生物学家)
Alfred
Romer
a
century
ago
became
a
hot
topic
once
again.
Romer
thought
that
tidal
pools
might
have
led
to
fish
gaining
limbs.Sea
animals
would
have
been
forced
into
these
pools
by
strong
tides.Then,they
would
have
been
made
either
to
adapt
to
their
new
environment
close
to
land
or
die.The
fittest
among
them
grew
to
accomplish
the
transition
from
sea
to
land.
Romer
called
these
earliest
four-footed
animals
“tetrapods”.Science
has
always
thought
that
this
was
a
credible
theory,but
only
recently
has
there
been
strong
enough
evidence
to
support
it.
Hannah
Byrne
is
an
oceanographer(海洋学家)at
Uppsala
University
in
Sweden.She
announced
at
the
2018
Ocean
Sciences
Meeting
in
Oregon,US,that
by
using
computer
software,her
team
had
managed
to
link
Romer's
theory
to
places
where
fossil
deposits
of
the
earliest
tetrapods
were
found.
According
to
the
magazine
Science,in
2014,Steven
Balbus,a
scientist
at
the
University
of
Oxford
in
the
UK,calculated
that
400
million
years
ago,when
the
move
from
land
to
sea
was
achieved,tides
were
stronger
than
they
are
today.This
is
because
the
planet
was
10
percent
closer
to
the
moon
than
it
is
now.
The
creatures
stranded
in
the
pools
would
have
been
under
the
pressure
of
“survival
of
the
fittest”,explained
Mattias
Green,an
ocean
scientist
at
the
UK's
University
of
Bangor.As
he
told
Science,“After
a
few
days
in
these
pools,you
become
food
or
you
run
out
of
food...the
fish
that
had
large
limbs
had
an
advantage
because
they
could
flip(翻转)
themselves
back
in
the
water.”
As
is
often
the
case,however,there
are
others
who
find
the
theory
less
convincing.Cambridge
University's
paleontologist
Jennifer
Clark,speaking
to
Nature
magazine,seemed
unconvinced.“It's
only
one
of
many
ideas
for
the
origin
of
land-based
tetrapods,any
or
all
of
which
may
have
been
a
part
of
the
answer,”
she
said.
1.Why
were
tides
stronger
400
million
years
ago
than
they
are
today
according
to
Steven
Balbus?
A.There
were
larger
oceans.
B.Earth
was
under
greater
pressure.
C.Earth
was
closer
to
the
moon.
D.The
moon
gave
off
more
energy.
2.The
underlined
word
“stranded”
in
Paragraph
8
probably
means
“ ”.
A.settled
B.trapped
C.abandoned
D.found
3.What
is
the
focus
of
the
article?
A.The
arguments
over
a
scientific
theory.
B.The
proposal
of
a
new
scientific
theory.
C.Some
new
evidence
to
support
a
previous
theory.
D.A
new
discovery
that
questions
a
previous
theory.
B
Sometimes
people
make
history.George
Washington
became
the
first
president
of
the
United
States
and
made
history.Sometimes
wars
make
history.The
two
World
Wars
are
examples.Sometimes
nature
even
becomes
part
of
history.Shaking
earthquakes
are
recorded
in
history
books.
Fifteen
years
ago,nature
caused
just
such
a
history-making
event.In
September
2005,Hurricane
Katrina
came
ashore
in
New
Orleans,Louisiana.The
deadly
storm
flooded(淹没)
New
Orleans.Before
Katrina,no
other
big
American
city
had
ever
been
flooded
in
the
history
of
the
country.This
natural
disaster
caused
great
harm
and
death.
New
Orleans
is
located(位于)
below
sea
level.This
location
places
it
at
great
risk.Levees
were
built
to
protect
New
Orleans
from
the
ocean.(A
levee
is
like
a
wall
between
the
city
and
the
ocean.)
When
Hurricane
Katrina
came
ashore,water
moved
over
the
levees
into
the
city.Flooding
made
it
necessary
for
everyone
to
leave
the
city.Before
Katrina,Creole
food
(a
special
kind
of
cooking
only
in
Louisiana)
filled
the
air
with
delicious
smells.The
sound
of
jazz
music
traveled
through
the
streets.Now
the
city
has
to
return
to
its
former
glory(辉煌).
Before
Katrina,the
U.S.government
had
never
made
everyone
leave
a
city.People
in
New
Orleans
had
to
find
shelter
quickly.Some
had
to
stay
at
the
Superdome
Sports
Center.Some
rode
on
buses
to
other
towns.Thousands
drove
their
cars
to
get
away
from
the
storm.The
roads
and
shelters
filled
up
fast.
The
lesson
learned
from
Katrina
was
that
cities
must
be
better
prepared
for
big
storms
and
other
terrible
disasters
caused
by
nature.Being
prepared
might
have
kept
more
people
safe.Hurricane
Katrina
is
one
of
the
history-making
events
that
will
be
remembered
forever.Today,history
is
still
being
made
that
will
shape
the
future.
4.What
does
the
author
tell
us
about
New
Orleans?
A.It
was
built
above
sea
level.
B.It
had
few
jazz
musicians
after
Katrina.
C.It
created
a
new
way
to
cook
after
Katrina.
D.It
was
the
first
U.S.city
that
had
been
flooded.
5.What
can
we
say
about
the
levees?
A.They
were
almost
useless
for
fighting
Katrina.
B.They
helped
people
leave
New
Orleans
quickly.
C.They
made
New
Orleans
a
special
American
city.
D.They
should
be
built
to
match
the
size
of
New
Orleans.
6.What
might
the
author
advise
city
governments
to
do?
A.Put
up
more
shelters
in
the
city.
B.Build
more
levees
around
the
city.
C.Teach
people
how
to
avoid
floods.
D.Try
to
get
ready
for
natural
disasters.
7.What
is
the
best
title
for
the
text?
A.Katrina
Makes
History
B.Floods
Shape
Louisiana
C.Storms
Are
Dangerous
D.History
Must
Be

How
to
Study
Smarter,Not
Harder
Here
are
some
of
our
favourite
study
tips
that
will
help
any
student
study
smarter,not
harder:
Recite
As
You
Study
Reciting—saying
things
out
loud
should
first
take
place
as
you
read
through
each
paragraph
or
section.Test
yourself.This
will
help
you
to
understand
as
well
as
learn
faster
because
it
is
more
active
than
reading
or
listening.
It
will
also
help
you
to
notice
your
mistakes
and
the
topics
you
have
trouble
understanding.
Take
Fuller
Notes
Notes
should
be
in
your
own
words,brief
and
clear.They
should
be
tidy
and
easy
to
read.Writing
notes
will
help
you
better
than
just
underlining
as
you
read,since
it
forces
you
to
rewrite
ideas
in
your
own
words.
Study
the
Middle
The
best
time
to
review
is
soon
after
you've
learned
something.You
are
more
likely
to
remember
the
material
at
the
beginning
and
the
end
of
the
lesson,so
make
sure
you
focus
on
the
middle
when
you
review.
Sleep
on
It
Study
before
going
to
bed,unless
you
are
very
tired.It's
easier
to
remember
material
you
have
just
learned
after
sleeping
than
after
an
equal
period
of
daytime
activity,because
your
brain
continues
to
think
even
after
you've
fallen
bine(结合)
Memory
and
Understanding
There
are
two
ways
to
remember:by
memorizing
and
by
understanding.Multiplication
tables,telephone
numbers,and
math
formulas
are
better
learned
by
rote(死记硬背).Ideas
are
best
learned
by
understanding.
The
more
ways
you
have
to
think
about
an
idea,the
more
meaning
it
will
have;the
more
meaningful
the
learning,the
better
you
can
remember
it.Pay
attention
to
similarities
in
ideas
and
concepts,and
then
try
to
understand
how
they
fit
in
with
things
you
already
know.Never
be
satisfied
with
anything
less
than
a
completely
clear
understanding
of
what
you
are
reading.If
you
are
not
able
to
follow
the
thought,go
back
to
the
place
where
you
first
got
confused
and
try
again.
8.You
can
notice
your
mistakes
by
    .
A.speaking
things
out
aloud
B.studying
the
middle
C.taking
notes
D.sleeping
on
it
9.When
taking
notes,you
should

to
better
help
you
with
reading.
A.underline
important
notes
B.write
as
quickly
as
possible
C.write
notes
in
your
own
words
D.take
down
every
detail
10.Which
of
the
following
is
NOT
helpful
for
your
understanding?
A.Thinking
about
an
idea
in
different
ways.
B.Going
back
to
what
first
made
you
confused
and
starting
again.
C.Relating
ideas
and
concepts
with
what
you
already
know.
D.Reading
from
the
beginning
to
the
end
without
stop.

Simple
Ways
to
Improve
Your
Written
English
Many
people
think
it
is
really
difficult
to
improve(提高)
their
writing
in
English.Don't
worry,though.Here
are
some
simple
steps
that
you
can
take
to
improve
your
written
English.
·Increase
your
vocabulary.
To
express
yourself
clearly,you
need
a
good
active
vocabulary.That's
not
just
being
able
to
know
lots
of
words—it
means
actually
being
able
to
use
them
correctly.11.
Tip:When
you
learn
a
new
word,try
to
learn
all
the
forms
of
that
word.
12.
People
often
say
that
we
learn
to
write
best
by
reading.Reading
in
English
is
useful
in
many
ways.It
is
a
great
way
to
get
an
idea
of
the
different
styles
of
writing
and
see
how
to
use
words
properly.
Tip:13.
Learning
shouldn't
be
boring.Read
each
text
several
times
to
make
sure
you
understand
how
to
use
new
words
and
expressions
in
the
text.
·Improve
your
grammar.
Grammar
is
very
important
because
it
improves
the
quality(质量)
of
your
writing.
Tip:14.
The
first
time,look
for
general
mistakes
and
the
second
time
look
for
mistakes
with
the
grammar
point
you
are
studying
at
the
moment.
·Just
do
it!
The
best
way
to
improve
your
writing
is
to
get
a
pen
and
paper
and
write.Be
prepared
to
write
several
versions(版本)
of
each
text.15.
A.Know
your
readers.
B.Read
widely
and
often.
C.Always
check
your
writing
twice.
D.Remember,practice
makes
perfect!
E.Choose
books
or
articles
that
interest
you.
F.Use
simpler
language
and
shorter
sentences
to
show
your
ideas.
G.Do
this
by
learning
new
words
with
example
sentences,not
just
word
lists.

spend
an
entire
study
period
with
a
smartphone
in
hand.Some
people
argue
that
the
increasing
use
of
technology
can
have
many
helpful
effects
on
society.But
recent
research
suggests
that
using
technology
during
the
class
time
may
harm
college
students'
ability
to
remember
and
process
the
subject
material.
Arnold
Glass,a
professor
in
Rutgers
University
in
New
Brunswick,New
Jersey,and
a
student
researcher
investigated
the
issue
of
divided
student
attention.The
study
involved
118
Rutgers
students
who
were
taking
the
same
level
college
class.The
students
were
permitted
to
use
any
electronic
device
during
half
of
their
daily
class
periods.During
the
other
half,no
one
was
allowed
to
use
any
technology.
The
researchers
found
that
the
average
daily
quiz
results
showed
no
evidence
of
harmful
effects
from
the
use
of
technology.However,the
average
results
of
the
larger
tests
and
final
exam
showed
that
all
the
students
performed
poorly
when
they
were
permitted
to
use
technology
in
the
classroom.Glass
argues
that
it
shows
the
use
of
electronic
devices
in
the
classroom
prevents
students
from
processing
information.When
the
students
hear
what
the
professor
is
saying,they
might
be
buying
things
online
or
reading
unrelated
emails
at
the
same
time.And
that,Glass
says,makes
it
harder
for
the
information
to
enter
their
long
term
memory.Even
though
the
students
know
what
the
professor
said
at
that
time,they
no
longer
remember
it
a
week
later
because
they
missed
the
opportunity.
However,Lauren
Margulieux,an
assistant
professor
at
Georgia
State
University
in
Atlanta
argues
that
there
are
times
when
the
use
of
technology
in
classroom
is
unavoidable.So,he
says,educators
need
to
consider
that
something
other
than
technology
is
distracting
students.
In
fact,a
special
software
program
has
been
created.Students
can
use
the
program,which
engages
students
more
with
the
class
material
on
their
personal
devices
during
a
given
class.It
can
also
be
used
to
observe
the
student
activity
and
prevent
them
from
opening
unrelated
pages
and
programs

(时间:100分钟 分值:120分)
第一部分
 阅读理解(共两节,满分35分)
第一节 (共10小题;每小题2.5分,满分25分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
Since
English
biologist
Charles
Darwin
published
On
the
Origin
of
Species
in
1859,scientists
have
vastly
improved
their
knowledge
of
natural
history.However,a
lot
of
information
is
still
of
the
speculation,and
scientists
can
still
only
make
educated
guesses
at
certain
things.
One
subject
that
they
guess
about
is
why
some
400
million
years
ago,animals
in
the
sea
developed
limbs
that
allowed
them
to
move
onto
and
live
on
land.
Recently,an
idea
that
occurred
to
the
US
paleontologist(古生物学家)
Alfred
Romer
a
century
ago
became
a
hot
topic
once
again.
Romer
thought
that
tidal
pools
might
have
led
to
fish
gaining
limbs.Sea
animals
would
have
been
forced
into
these
pools
by
strong
tides.Then,they
would
have
been
made
either
to
adapt
to
their
new
environment
close
to
land
or
die.The
fittest
among
them
grew
to
accomplish
the
transition
from
sea
to
land.
Romer
called
these
earliest
four-footed
animals
“tetrapods”.Science
has
always
thought
that
this
was
a
credible
theory,but
only
recently
has
there
been
strong
enough
evidence
to
support
it.
Hannah
Byrne
is
an
oceanographer(海洋学家)at
Uppsala
University
in
Sweden.She
announced
at
the
2018
Ocean
Sciences
Meeting
in
Oregon,US,that
by
using
computer
software,her
team
had
managed
to
link
Romer's
theory
to
places
where
fossil
deposits
of
the
earliest
tetrapods
were
found.
According
to
the
magazine
Science,in
2014,Steven
Balbus,a
scientist
at
the
University
of
Oxford
in
the
UK,calculated
that
400
million
years
ago,when
the
move
from
land
to
sea
was
achieved,tides
were
stronger
than
they
are
today.This
is
because
the
planet
was
10
percent
closer
to
the
moon
than
it
is
now.
The
creatures
stranded
in
the
pools
would
have
been
under
the
pressure
of
“survival
of
the
fittest”,explained
Mattias
Green,an
ocean
scientist
at
the
UK's
University
of
Bangor.As
he
told
Science,“After
a
few
days
in
these
pools,you
become
food
or
you
run
out
of
food...the
fish
that
had
large
limbs
had
an
advantage
because
they
could
flip(翻转)
themselves
back
in
the
water.”
As
is
often
the
case,however,there
are
others
who
find
the
theory
less
convincing.Cambridge
University's
paleontologist
Jennifer
Clark,speaking
to
Nature
magazine,seemed
unconvinced.“It's
only
one
of
many
ideas
for
the
origin
of
land-based
tetrapods,any
or
all
of
which
may
have
been
a
part
of
the
answer,”
she
said.
文章大意:本文是议论文,Alfred
Romer在一个世纪前提出的观点现在又成了热门话题,文中介绍了一些支持此观点的依据。
1.Why
were
tides
stronger
400
million
years
ago
than
they
are
today
according
to
Steven
Balbus?
A.There
were
larger
oceans.
B.Earth
was
under
greater
pressure.
C.Earth
was
closer
to
the
moon.
D.The
moon
gave
off
more
energy.
C 解析:细节理解题。根据第七段中“400
million
years
ago,when
the
move
from
land
to
sea
was
achieved,tides
were
stronger
than
they
are
today.This
is
because
the
planet
was
10
percent
closer
to
the
moon
than
it
is
now.”可知,4亿年前的潮汐比现在更强,这是因为地球比现在离月球近10%,故选C。
2.The
underlined
word
“stranded”
in
Paragraph
8
probably
means
“ ”.
A.settled
B.trapped
C.abandoned
D.found
B 解析:词义猜测题。根据Mattias
Green的观点“After
a
few
days
in
these
pools,you
become
food
or
you
run
out
of
food...the
fish
that
had
large
limbs
had
an
advantage
because
they
could
flip(翻转)
themselves
back
in
the
water.”可知,被困在水池中几天,鱼就会没有食物或成为食物,四肢大的鱼生存更有优势。由此可知被困在水池里的生物会承受“适者生存”的压力,stranded意为“陷入困境的”与trapped同义,故选B。
3.What
is
the
focus
of
the
article?
A.The
arguments
over
a
scientific
theory.
B.The
proposal
of
a
new
scientific
theory.
C.Some
new
evidence
to
support
a
previous
theory.
D.A
new
discovery
that
questions
a
previous
theory.
C 解析:推理判断题。第三段提出本文的主题,Alfred
Romer在一个世纪前提出的观点现在成了热门话题,下文叙述观点的内容和支持的论据。所以本文的重点是支持先前理论的一些新的证据,故选C。
B
Sometimes
people
make
history.George
Washington
became
the
first
president
of
the
United
States
and
made
history.Sometimes
wars
make
history.The
two
World
Wars
are
examples.Sometimes
nature
even
becomes
part
of
history.Shaking
earthquakes
are
recorded
in
history
books.
Fifteen
years
ago,nature
caused
just
such
a
history-making
event.In
September
2005,Hurricane
Katrina
came
ashore
in
New
Orleans,Louisiana.The
deadly
storm
flooded(淹没)
New
Orleans.Before
Katrina,no
other
big
American
city
had
ever
been
flooded
in
the
history
of
the
country.This
natural
disaster
caused
great
harm
and
death.
New
Orleans
is
located(位于)
below
sea
level.This
location
places
it
at
great
risk.Levees
were
built
to
protect
New
Orleans
from
the
ocean.(A
levee
is
like
a
wall
between
the
city
and
the
ocean.)
When
Hurricane
Katrina
came
ashore,water
moved
over
the
levees
into
the
city.Flooding
made
it
necessary
for
everyone
to
leave
the
city.Before
Katrina,Creole
food
(a
special
kind
of
cooking
only
in
Louisiana)
filled
the
air
with
delicious
smells.The
sound
of
jazz
music
traveled
through
the
streets.Now
the
city
has
to
return
to
its
former
glory(辉煌).
Before
Katrina,the
U.S.government
had
never
made
everyone
leave
a
city.People
in
New
Orleans
had
to
find
shelter
quickly.Some
had
to
stay
at
the
Superdome
Sports
Center.Some
rode
on
buses
to
other
towns.Thousands
drove
their
cars
to
get
away
from
the
storm.The
roads
and
shelters
filled
up
fast.
The
lesson
learned
from
Katrina
was
that
cities
must
be
better
prepared
for
big
storms
and
other
terrible
disasters
caused
by
nature.Being
prepared
might
have
kept
more
people
safe.Hurricane
Katrina
is
one
of
the
history-making
events
that
will
be
remembered
forever.Today,history
is
still
being
made
that
will
shape
the
future.

New
Orleans
quickly.
C.They
made
New
Orleans
a
special
American
city.

should
be
built
to
match
the
size
of
New
Orleans.
A 解析:细节理解题。由第三段中的“When

6.What
might
the
author
advise
city
governments
to
do?

How
to
Study
Smarter,Not
Harder
Here
are
some
of
our
favourite
study
tips
that
will
help
any
student
study
smarter,not
harder:
Recite
As
You

Reciting—saying
things
out
loud
should
first
take

as
you
read
through
each

yourself.This
will
help
you
to
understand
as
well
as
learn
faster
because
it
is
more
active
than
reading
or
listening.
It
will
also
help
you
to
notice
your
mistakes
and
the
topics
you
have
trouble
understanding.

better
than
just
underlining

it
forces

in
your

Study
the
Middle
The
best
time
to
review
is
soon
after
you've
learned
something.You
are
more
likely
to
remember
the
material
at
the
beginning
and
the
end
of
the
lesson,so
make
sure
you
focus
on
the
middle
when
you
review.
Sleep

It
Study
before
going
to

you
are
very
tired.It's
easier
to
remember
material
you
have
just
learned
after
sleeping
than
after
an
equal
period
of
daytime
activity,because
your
brain
continues
to
think
even
after
you've
fallen
bine(结合)
Memory
and
Understanding
There
are
two
ways
to
remember:by
memorizing
and
by
understanding.Multiplication
tables,telephone
numbers,and
math
formulas
are
better
learned
by
rote(死记硬背).Ideas
are
best
learned
by
understanding.
The
more
ways
you
have
to
think
about
an
idea,the
more
meaning
it
will
have;the
more
meaningful
the
learning,the
better
you
can
remember
it.Pay
attention
to
similarities
in
ideas
and

then
try
to

how
they

in
with
things
you

with
anything
less
than
a

clear
understanding
of
what
you
are

you
are
not
able
to
follow
the
thought,go
back
to
the
place
where
you
first
got
confused
and
try
again.
文章大意:这是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了五种学习技巧,可以帮助学生更聪明地学习。
8.You
can
notice

understanding.”可知,你可以通过大声地说出来来发现自己的错误。故选A。
9.When
taking
notes,you
should

to
better
help
you
with
reading.
A.underline
important
notes

as
quickly
as
possible
C.write
notes
in
your
own
words
D.take
down
every

think
about
an
idea,the
more
meaning
it
will
have;the
more
meaningful
the

you
can
remember
it.可知,用不同的方式思考一个想法有助于理解,故A选项排除;根据最后一段最后一句“If
you
are
not
able
to
follow
the
thought,go
back
to
the
place
where
you
first
got
confused
and
try
again.”可知,回到最初让你困惑的地方,重新开始有助于理解,故B选项排除;根据最后一段中“Pay
attention
to
similarities
in
ideas
and
concepts,and
then
try
to
understand
how
they
fit
in
with
things
you
already
know.”可知,把想法和概念与你已经知道的联系起来有助于理解,故C选项排除。文章没有提及D选项“从头到尾不间断地阅读”。故选D。
第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Simple
Ways
to
Improve
Your
Written
English
Many
people
think
it
is
really
difficult
to
improve(提高)
their
writing
in
English.Don't
worry,though.Here
are
some
simple
steps
that
you
can
take
to
improve
your
written
English.
·Increase
your
vocabulary.
To
express
yourself
clearly,you
need
a
good
active
vocabulary.That's
not
just
being
able
to
know
lots
of
words—it
means
actually
being
able
to
use
them
correctly.11. G
Tip:When
you
learn
a
new
word,try
to
learn
all
the
forms
of
that
word.
12. B
People
often
say
that
we
learn
to
write
best
by
reading.Reading
in
English
is
useful
in
many
ways.It
is
a
great
way
to
get
an
idea
of
the
different
styles
of
writing
and
see
how
to
use
words
properly.
Tip:13. E
Learning
shouldn't
be
boring.Read
each
text
several
times
to
make
sure
you
understand
how
to
use
new
words
and
expressions
in
the
text.
·Improve
your
grammar.
Grammar
is
very
important
because
it
improves
the
quality(质量)
of
your
writing.
Tip:14. C
The
first
time,look
for
general
mistakes
and
the
second
time
look
for
mistakes
with
the
grammar
point
you
are
studying
at
the
moment.
·Just
do
it!
The
best
way
to
improve
your
writing
is
to
get
a
pen
and
paper
and
write.Be
prepared
to
write
several
versions(版本)
of
each
text.15. D
A.Know
your
readers.
B.Read
widely
and
often.
C.Always
check
your
writing
twice.
D.Remember,practice
makes
perfect!
E.Choose
books
or
articles
that
interest
you.
F.Use
simpler
language
and
shorter
sentences
to
show
your
ideas.
G.Do
this
by
learning
new
words
with
example
sentences,not
just
word
lists.
文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了几种提高英文写作的简单方法。
11.G 解析:G项中的“learning
new
words
with
example
sentences”与该空前的“it
means
actually
being
able
to
use
them
correctly”相呼应。本段是说增加词汇量并不仅仅是知道单词的意思,而是要懂得其用法。
12.B 解析:由下文解释的“get
an
idea
of
the
different
styles
of
writing
and
see
how
to
use
words
properly”可知,本段讲阅读对写作的帮助。故选B。
13.E 解析:由上文的“learn
to
write
best
by
reading”和该空后的“Learning
shouldn't
be
boring.”可知,阅读有助于写作,但要选择那些让你感兴趣的书籍或文章。故选E。
14.C 解析:C项中的“check
your
writing
twice”与该空后的“The
first
time...general
mistakes”和“the
second
time...mistakes
with
the
grammar
point”相呼应。
15.D 解析:由本段小标题“Just
do
it!”和“get
a
pen
and
paper
and
write.Be
prepared
to
write
several
versions(版本)
of
each
text.”可知,想要提高写作就要多动笔写,俗话说得好,熟能生巧。

第二节 概要写作(满分25分)
阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。
Nowadays,more
and
more
college
students
have
no
problem
walking
into
a
classroom
and
opening
their
laptops.Others
may
spend
an
entire
study
period
with
a
smartphone
in
hand.Some
people
argue
that
the
increasing
use
of
technology
can
have
many
helpful
effects
on
society.But
recent
research
suggests
that
using
technology
during
the
class
time
may
harm
college
students'
ability
to
remember
and
process
the
subject
material.
Arnold
Glass,a
professor
in
Rutgers
University
in
New
Brunswick,New
Jersey,and
a
student
researcher
investigated
the
issue
of
divided
student
attention.The
study
involved
118
Rutgers
students
who
were
taking
the
same
level
college
class.The
students
were
permitted
to
use
any
electronic
device
during
half
of
their
daily
class
periods.During
the
other
half,no
one
was
allowed
to
use
any
technology.
The
researchers
found
that
the
average
daily
quiz
results
showed
no
evidence
of
harmful
effects
from
the
use
of
technology.However,the
average
results
of
the
larger
tests
and
final
exam
showed
that
all
the
students
performed
poorly
when
they
were
permitted
to
use
technology
in
the
classroom.Glass
argues
that
it
shows
the
use
of
electronic
devices
in
the
classroom
prevents
students
from
processing
information.When
the
students
hear
what
the
professor
is
saying,they
might
be
buying
things
online
or
reading
unrelated
emails
at
the
same
time.And
that,Glass
says,makes
it
harder
for
the
information
to
enter
their
long
term
memory.Even
though
the
students
know
what
the
professor
said
at
that
time,they
no
longer
remember
it
a
week
later
because
they
missed
the
opportunity.
However,Lauren
Margulieux,an
assistant
professor
at
Georgia
State
University
in
Atlanta
argues
that
there
are
times
when
the
use
of
technology
in
classroom
is
unavoidable.So,he
says,educators
need
to
consider
that
something
other
than
technology
is
distracting
students.
In
fact,a
special
software
program
has
been
created.Students
can
use
the
program,which
engages
students
more
with
the
class
material
on
their
personal
devices
during
a
given
class.It
can
also
be
used
to
observe
the
student
activity
and
prevent
them
from
opening
unrelated
pages
and
programs
