Waste can be seen everywhere in the school. Some students ask for more food than they can eat and others often forget to turn off the lights when they leave the classroom. They say they can afford these things. But I don't agree with them.
Waste can bring a lot of problems. Although China is rich in some resources, we are short of others, for example, fresh water. It is reported that we will have no coal or oil to use in 100 years. So if we go on wasting our resources, what can we use in the future and where can we move? Think about it. I think we should say no to the students who waste things every day. Everybody should stop wasting as soon as possible.
In our everyday life,we can do many things to prevent waste from happening. For example, turn off the water taps when we finish washing, turn off the lights when we leave the classroom, try not to order more food than we need, and so on. Little by little, everything will be changed. Waste can be stopped one day,if we do our best.

C
In December, Facebook’s own researchers publicly questioned if Facebook could be a danger to the public’s health in mind. I’d already been considering whether to give up or not for months, but this news helped me to decide what I would do; I was done.
I’m a freelancer (自由职业). If I don’t work, I don’t get paid. Therefore, it’s fair to say that Facebook was influencing my work life and my pay. My working day used to go a little something like this: coffee, check emails, start writing, check Facebook, answer the phone, check Facebook, continue writing, check Facebook. You get the picture. Each work-related task was balanced out by social media, which made it difficult for me to focus on what I was doing.
Now that my Facebook does not work, I no longer have the chance to check it. I get much more work done and have time to reply to more emails and talk to possible clients (客户). However, the urge to log back on (重新登录) comes over me a few times per day, which makes me frightened. It could be a sign that I couldn’t live without social media.
Right now, I don’t know what the people I know are doing and, you know what, I couldn’t care less. I’m getting on with my own thing and so are they. Isn’t that how life was like before social media anyway?
28. What made the author finally decide to give up Facebook?
A. Dangers from checking writings. B. His low pay.
C. News published by its researchers. D. His poor health.
29. What does the underlined word “balanced out” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A. Finished. B. Interrupted. C. Promoted. D. Tricked.
30. Why does the author feel frightened?
A. He has fewer clients to talk to.
B. He has the urge to return to Facebook.
C. He has much work to deal with.
D. He has more emails to reply to.
31. What is the text mainly about?
A. The author’s experience of giving up Facebook.
B. Facebook’s recent development.
C. Facebook’s influences on people’s health.
D. The author’s scientific study on social media.
D
I love snakes. My mom definitely does not. When she was a kid, snakes used to hide in warm spots under the furniture. So she grew up afraid she'd step on a snake. I grew up hoping I'd see one outside! Lots of people who are afraid of snakes have never even seen one. So where does our fear come from?
Scientists wonder about this too. Their experiments with adults, kids, and even babies show that it's complicated. In tests with pictures, people picked out snakes faster than they could find flowers, frogs, and caterpillars. It wasn't just snakes, though. People also found spiders and angry faces faster than "safe" things like flowers. It seems like we find things that might be dangerous to us faster than things that aren't
People also learn to fear snakes faster than we learn to fear many other things. We take our hints from other people's scared voices and faces. Some scientists think we've evolved this way faster to see snakes and faster to learn to fear them. After all, if we had to be bitten by a snake to learn that it's dangerous, we might learn our lesson too late.
So why does it matter if we're afraid of snakes? It may not matter much to us, but it matters to snakes. People protect animals they like, not animals they fear. Snakes may not be as cute as dolphins, but they're just as important to the environment. Snakes eat insects that are pests to humans. Snakes are also food for other animals, so when we kill snakes, we're hurting other creatures too.
How do we get past our fears to give snakes a chance? Scientists did a study recently where students of your age went on a field trip, Guides helped them find and capture snakes in the forest. Everyone could safely touch and hold a snake. It turns out that snakes aren't so bad when you get to know them. Most people who were afraid of snakes before the field trip weren't afraid afterward. In fact, snakes even became some students' favorite animal. Hmm, maybe I should take my mom on the next field trip.
Remember: Always respect snakes, whether you're afraid of them or not.
32. According to Paragraph 3, people's fear comes from ____________.
A. school education B. scientific researches
C. self-experience D. others' influence
33. Which paragraph shows people the way to overcome their fear of snakes?
A. Paragraph 2. B. Paragraph 3. C. Paragraph 4. D. Paragraph 5.
34. Which of the following is Wrong?
A. In tests with pictures, people may pick out tigers faster than rabbits.
B. Snakes play an important role in the ecosystem.
C. Snakes are not so bad; therefore, everyone can safely catch snakes in the forest.
D. After the field trip, few people may still be afraid of snakes.
35. Which of the following will the author agree with?
A. Snakes are not dangerous at all.
B. People should make peace with snakes.
C. People's fear matters little to snakes.
D. Snakes are well protected by humans.

I went up to the roof for a break after study for an hour and watched the 50 or so people swimming in the natural rock pool below our house. It was a sunny day. But then, as I looked in the distance. I discovered a series of big waves heading towards the shore. I’d seen these mini?tsunamis(海啸) many times before. They were heading at speed in the direction of the pool. Most people knew to look out for them, but from the screams that started coming from the beach, I could tell someone was in trouble.
Without thinking, I ran down into the street, holding my bodyboard (冲浪板) on the way and shouted at a stranger to go inside my house and call the coastguard. My neighbor Moises had heard the screaming as well and was also outside with his bodyboard, so together we rushed to the steps that led down to the sea.
Once we got closer, we discovered the waves had pulled a boy and a girl from the pool and into the open sea. I knew the nearest boat would take at least 30 minutes to reach us. Waiting for help wasn’t a choice. I wasn’t used to this sort of emergency—I’d never been trained as a lifeguard—but I didn’t think twice about trying to save them.
Moises and I dived into the water and it took us 10 minutes to get to them. When we eventually
reached them, they were almost lifeless with only their heads coming in and out of the water. We could tell they were still alive from their small breaths but it was clear that they wouldn’t have been able to stay there much longer. I held the boy and pulled him over my board. Moises moved the girl onto his board. We discussed pushing them back to the shore, but we were too far out.

Dear David,
How are you? I write to tell you my concerns about some of your unhealthy habits. I don't mean to upset you, but I really care about you.
David, I found that you picked out all the vegetables when having diners and you loved the junk food crazily. Besides, you refused to climb the mountain with me, because you thought you would be out of breath if doing so. But a healthy body is the basis of a successful life. I do wish you can try some fresh vegetables. In addition, I want you to get involved in some physical exercise regularly, which will help you improve your physical health.
Looking forward to seeing your progress.
Best wishes.

第二节(满分25分)
One possible version:
Paragraph 1:
We had to wait. We tried to keep them on the boards, feeling their faces to wake them up, telling them to be strong. 30 minutes later, I began to feel a bit tired. Finally, in the distance, we discovered a small boat with three lifeguards heading towards us. When the boat appeared, we helped push the boy and the girl on board, only to be told that there was no room for us. People who had watched what happened came to meet us and cheek if we were OK, but there was no round of applause. Everything was back to normal.
Paragraph 2:
That night, word came from the hospital that the two people were in a good condition. They probably would have died if they’d been in the sea for any longer. I knew it was a big deal that we’d saved them, but at the same time it didn’t seem like that much effort. I’m sure that anyone who could swim would do the same thing.
