(5).用过去完成时谈论过去的事
By the time she got outside, the bus had already left

三.语法梳理
(1)被动语态
当我们不知道谁是动作的执行者,或者没有必要指出谁是动作的执行者时,或者只需强调动作的承受者时,要用被动语态。
被动语态的构成:be +vt.p.p.
一般现在时—— am/is / are + vt.p.p
一般过去时—— was/were +vt.p.p
情态动词—— aux.v. (must/can/could/may…+ be + vt.p.p.)
(2)过去完成时态
1、表示过去的过去,通常由by引导的短语做时间状语或者由by / when / before引导的从句做时间状语从句
2、常用在宾语从句中。如:
He told me he had already finished his homework.
3、体现在上下文中。如:
I didn’t go to the movies yesterday because I had seen it twice.
*过去完成时与现在完成时的区别
现在完成时表示的动作发生在过去,但侧重对现在产生的结果或造成的影响,与现在有关,其结构为“助动词 have (has) + 过去分词”;过去完成时则是一个相对的时态,它所表示的动作不仅发生在过去,更强调“过去的过去”,只有和过去某时或某动作相比较时,才用到它。
(3)短语动词用法:
1.动词+副词
如果其宾语是代词,就必须放在动词和副词之间,如果是名词,则既可放中间也可放在短语动词后。如:give up,turn off, pick up..等
2.动词+介词
这种结构相当于及物动词,接宾语时都放在后面。后面的介词与前面的动才不可拆开用。如:listen to,look at,belong to...
类似的还有“动词+副词+介词”型。如:come up with,run out of...
(4)定语从句。
定语从句(Attributive Clauses):在句中做定语,起修饰和限定主句里名词的作用。可以形容人,物和事件,在主句中充当定语的作用。修饰一个名词或代词,被修饰的名词,词组或代词即先行词。定语从句通常出现在先行词之后,由关系词(关系代词或关系副词)引出。翻译为”……的”
定语从句中的关系代词
指人:who / that,在从句中做主语或宾语. 指物:that/which, 在从句中做主语或宾语, 注意that、which等关系词的用法:
that、which不一般 同指物时可互换
不定代词为先行 只有that才可用
先行词前有修饰 千万不可用which
主从句子要完整 从句紧靠先行词
关系副词做成分 唯做宾语可以省
