II.阅读理解。
A
Chess
for
Children
When
we
think
of
chess,
we
think
of
two
adults
sitting
opposite
each
other.
Many
people
feel
it
is
a
very
difficult
game.
But
do
you
know
that
most
chess
players
and
champions
start
very
young?
It
is
true
that
not
everyone
who
plays
the
sport
becomes
a
champion.
Yet,
it
is
a
fact
that
the
world
has
become
chess
crazy,
especially
children.
In
India,
the
southern
city
of
Chennai
was
for
long
called
the
chess
capital
of
India.
After
all
it
produced
champions
like
Viswanathan
Ann,
and
Manuel
Aaron
and
V.
Ravi
Kumar.
Today
the
craze
has
spread
across
the
country.
The
number
of
chess
clubs
has
increased,
as
well
as
the
number
of
tournaments(
锦标赛)
played
through
the
year.
In
Russia
and
several
other
European
countries,
as
well
as
in
Canada,
chess
is
part
of
the
school
curriculum(课程).
In
fact
this
is
one
game
that
helps
the
player
in
many
ways.
To
play
better,
it
becomes
necessary
to
read
chess
books.
You
have
to
be
able
to
keep
scores,
so
your
math
gets
better.
More
importantly,
you
are
the
leader
of
your
army
on
the
board
and
have
to
think
carefully
before
making
any
move.
You
have
to
be
able
to
think
of
different
moves
and
the
best
possible
move.
Then,
your
thinking
becomes
faster
and
you
learn
to
decide
faster.
Lastly,
you
have
to
try
your
hardest
to
win,
but
that
does
not
mean
you
hate
your
opponent
(对手).
Remember,
you
have
to
shake
hands
with
the
other
contestant(竞争者)
before
and
after
a
game.

Most
chess
players
and

A
man
enters
a
store
to
buy
milk.
He
walks
out
of
the
store
with
milk.
That
is
all
--
milk.
At
the
same
time,
a
woman
enters
the
same
store
also
to
buy
milk.
She
buys
it.
But,
she
also
buys
chicken
and
lemons
to
make
dinner
that
night.
Then
she
remembers
to
buy
food
for
her
son
to
eat
at
school.
She
also
gets
bottle
of
wine
for
drinks
with
friends
and
a
birthday
card
for
her
husband's
cousin.
Then
she
gets
coffee
for
breakfast,
ice
cream
for
dessert.
And
don't
forget
soap
for
the
bathroom.
And
that
is
the
difference
between
the
female(女人)
and
male(男人)
brains
simply
explained
in
a
store.
Generally
speaking,
men
do
one
thing
at
a
time.
Women
do
many.
Doing
many
things
at
one
time
is
often
called
"multi-tasking",
a
very
popular
word
these
days.
Now
scientific
research
has
shown
what
we
have
known
all
along
--
men
and
women
think
differently.
Scientist
at
the
university
of
Pennsylvania
studied
brain
images(

of
949
people
aged
from
8
to
22
years
old.
They
found
that
male
brains
have
more
connections
on
one
side
of
the
brain.
In
female
brain,
they
found
more
activity
and
connections
between
the
right
and
left
sides
of
the
brain.
The
left
side
of
the
brain
is
known
as
the
side
of
"reason".
The
right
hemisphere(半球)
is
known
as
the
"creative"
side.

She

the
report.
She
says
when
women
are
asked
to
do
something
difficult,
they
might
use
different
parts
of
the
brain.
Men,
she
adds,
generally
use
just
one
side
of
the
brain.
