A: His biggest headache is how to be polite in English. Li Rui holds the opinion that it all depends on whom he is talking to. If he talks to a close friend, he only needs a few words to bridge the gap. If he talks to someone who is not familiar with him, he must make it a question, not a demand.

I might try to guess the meaning of the new word from the text instead of referring to the dictionary. The most important is to do reading every day. Practice more and you will improve a lot in the reading.

When you study abroad in France, you can expect to be treated the same as your native classmates, whether in a lecture or a discussion class.
While you can study abroad in France and focus on nearly any subject, it’s the students with a passion for the arts, architecture (建筑学)and history that rush to the country in the largest numbers. And that’s no shock, considering that France has been the center of the arts for centuries.
As students of the arts, you will have to make careful use of your time, given all that France has to offer:
?Visit the Louvre to view the works of French artists such as Monet, Matisse and Renoir;
?Read the works of such French literary geniuses as Baudelaire, Proust and Voltaire;
?Listen to the music of Debussy, or more contemporary (当代的) artists like Air and Daft Punk.
France is also a main destination for architecture students, as you will see architecture in nearly every style:
?The Gothic Chateau de Chambord, built in the 1500s;
?Place Dauphine built in 1607 in Baroque style;
?The post-modern housing development, Marnela-Vallée.
History students will find that France has been where the action is for quite some time. Over the course of the centuries, it has been the stage for the most important developments in the history of mankind, including the French Revolution, the rise of Napoleon and the rise of the Fifth Republic under President Charles de Gaulle. It was also the site of the D-Day invasion (诺曼底登陆)of World War Ⅱ.
As a possible study-abroad location, France has a lot to offer, because the combination of educational institutions (教育机构), arts and culture, and national history is second to none.

In the busy city of New York, such an amazing thing ever happened. On a cold Friday night, a poor artist stood at the gate of the subway station, playing his violin. The young violinist was a student at an Arts College named Joseph, who did so every day in order to earn his tuition fees. He planned to attend advanced studies in Vienna and had booked the flight the next morning. Though the music was great, people were quickly going home for the weekend. Joseph was playing his last chapter when a middle-aged man looking pretty excited slowed down his pace and put 50 dollars into the hat, for which Joseph was graceful.
The next night, the young artist came to the gate of the subway station as usual, and put his hat on the ground gracefully. Different from the day before, he took out a large piece of paper and laid it on the ground and put some stones on it. Then he began playing the violin.
Before long, the young artist was surrounded with many passers-by, who were all attracted by the words on that paper. It said, “Last night, a gentleman named George Sang put an unexpected thing into my hat by mistake. Please come to claim it as soon as possible. ”
It caused a great excitement and curiosity. They were dying to know what the unexpected thing could be. After about half an hour, a middle-aged man ran there in a hurry and rushed through the crowd to the violinist and grabbed his shoulders and said, “Yes, it’s you. You did come here. I knew that you are an honest man and would certainly come here.”
The young violinist asked calmly, “Are you Mr George Sang?”
The man nodded. The violinist asked, “Did you lose something?”
“Lottery. It’s lottery,” replied the man.
The violinist took out a lottery ticket on which George Sang’s name was seen. “Is it?”he asked.
George nodded promptly and seized the lottery ticket and kissed it, and then he danced with Joseph.

The story turned out to be this: George Sang is an ordinary office clerk. He bought a lottery ticket the other day. To his surprise, he was exactly the lucky dog. Overjoyed, George took out 50 dollars when hearing wonderful music on his way home. However, the lottery ticket was also thrown in. When Joseph was cleaning up his hat after ending a day’s work, he found the unexpected thing. Thinking the owner must be anxious, he cancelled the flight and returned to where he was given the lottery ticket.
This was the scene just now. Out of curiosity, some passers-by asked Joseph why he didn’t take it for himself since he was badly in need of money. Joseph answered, “It goes without saying that if I took it in a dishonest way, I would succeed temporarily. But in the long run, I am bound to be a loser.” Just as the saying goes, honesty is the best policy. Therefore we should bear in mind that being honest is what makes us a good man.
