Thanksgiving Day is also called the Harvest Day. They thank God for the good things that have happened during the year and for the good harvest they have had. On that day,all people have supper with their family together to celebrate it. Thanksgiving Day is a very special day for people in the United States and Canada.
What's Thanksgiving Day?
They celebrate it on the last Thursday in November. Canadians also celebrate Thanksgiving Day, but they do it on the second Monday of October.

What happened?
In 1620, the Pilgrims(清教徒), they sailed to America on the May flower(五月花号船), seeking a place where they could have freedom for worship. After two-month voyage they landed at in cold November.
During their first winter, over half of the people died of starvation or epidemics(传染病). Those who survived began growing vegetables and crops in the first sping.
All summer long, they waited for the harvests with great anxiety.Finally the fields produced a yield rich beyond expectations. And therefore, it was decided to make a day of thanksgiving to the Lord , having meals together to express thanks.
