Dear
John,
I’
m
sorry
to
learn
that
you
feel
depressed
about
what
has
happened
between
you
and
your
good
Friend.
You
once
told
me
you
had
much
in
common
with
your
friend
and
that
you
always
studied
together.
So
as
far
as
I’m
concerned,
you
should
make
an
apology
to
him
if
it
was
you
who
caused
the
conflict.
You
could
write
your
friend
a
letter
of
apology
or
text
message
him
to
admit
your
mistake.
However
if
it
was
your
friend’s

you
could
have
a
talk
with
him
peacefully
and
make
up
with
him
unless
you

to

【答案】
Dear
friends,
Do
you
want
to
live
in
a
beautiful
world?
So
it
is
our
duty
to
protect
the
environment.
To
reach
this
goal,
we
should
keep
the
following
in
mind.
First,
walking
to
school
is
a
good
way
to
reduce
pollution.
Second,
we
should
plant
trees
every
spring
to
protect
the
soil
from
being
washed
away.
Third,
it’s
also
important
to
recycle
everything
useful.
We
should
keep
our
school
clean
by
picking
up
any
litter.
Finally,
remember
to
turn
off
the
water
taps
after
finishing
washing
and
turn
off
the
lights
when
leaving
the
classroom.
In
a
word,
only
when
we
form
the
good
habit
of
environmental
protection
can
we
make
the
earth
more
beautiful
tomorrow.
Let’s
take
action
to
protect
our
mother

the

【答案】
Dear
Li
Xiaolei,
I
am
sorry
you
have
had
so
much
trouble
in
stopping
smoking,
but
I
am
glad
you
are
still
trying.
Don't
give
up.
The
more
often
you
try,
the
more
likely
you
are
to
eventually
succeed.
When
you
feel
uncomfortable,
don’t
automatically
reach
for
a

Sufficient
water
and
adequate
fruit
are
preferred
when
you
are
quitting
smoking.
It
is
normal
to
feel
a
little
stressed
when
you
give
up
smoking
for
the
first
time,
but
try
to
remember
that
it
will
only
last
a
few
days
and
then
you
will
begin
to
feel
much
better.
At
the
same
time,
keep
up
the
good
work
and
remind
yourself
how
much
healthier
you
will
be
when
you
finally

It
takes
a
special
person
to
see
a
life
in
danger
and
go
out
of
his
way
to
make
a
difference.
But
that’s
exactly
what
Kole
Devisscher
did
when
he
41
the
thin
ice
of
a
river
to
save
10-year-old
Chartrand
from
42
.
The
young
man
was
43
for
his
bravery
by
MP
Joy
Smith.
Smith
44
him
with
a
certificate
and
said
Devisscher
would
be
nominated
(提名)
for
the
Governor
General’s
Medal
of
Bravery.
Describing
the
45
,
Devisscher
said
he
thought
it
was
something
46
when
he
saw
a
blue
jacket
in
the
river.
47
for
Chartrand,
the
teenager
decided
to
back
up
his
truck
and
take
another
look.
When
Devisscher
realized
somebody
was
48
in
the
cold
water,
he
immediately
took
49
.
“I
got
out
of
the
truck
and
grabbed
the
tow
strap
(牵引绳)
from
the
backseat.”
explained
Devisscher.
“He
couldn’t
quite
grab
onto
the
rope
because
his
hands
were
already
turning
blue.
Then
I
made
a
loop
on
the
hook
and
got
him
to
put
it
around
his
shoulders.”
Devisscher’s
dad,
Gerry,
says
his
son
remembered
some
of
the
50
he
learned
while
snowmobiling
over
the
years.
“He
was
listening.
He
just

refuse

it.
He
wanted

To

Devisscher’s

and
to

him

the
mother
of
the
boy
gave
Devisscher

“When

it

in
at
first.

“It’s
just

He
got
him

he

MP
Smith
said
at
the
presentation
ceremony.
“I
think
he
is
an
outstanding
young
man,
and
all
of
Canada
should

Devisscher
said
he
just

“It

【答案】
61.families 考查名词。由本句后面的“including
one”可知,病人不止一个,涉及不同的家庭,故填名词复数形式。
62.to
give 考查不定式。由句意可知,此处表示目的,应使用动词不定式。
63.on 考查介词。由句意可知,此处表示“在路上”,故填on。
64.headed 考查时态。由本句中后面的“bought”可知,此处描述的是发生在过去的事情,应使用一般过去时,故填headed。
65.further 考查副词的比较级。由句意可知,此处表示“妈妈进一步给我解释”,故填further。
66.the 考查冠词。由句意可知,此处表示“老年人”这一类人,故填the。
67.caring 考查动词-ing形式。分析句子结构可知,此处为分词短语作状语,care和其逻辑主语we之间是主谓关系,故填动词-ing形式caring。

69.themselves 考查代词。空格处缺少介词for的宾语,表示“为他们自己”,故填themselves。
70.why 考查定语从句。此处表示“那正是我想成为一名医生的原因”,先行词是reason,关系词在从句中作状语,故填关系副词why。江西省2020-2021学年高二上学期期末英语试题精选汇编

My12-year-old
daughter
loves
to
stretch
out
spoken
and
written
words
by
adding
extra
letters.
When
I
read
about
a
new
study
that
analyzed
the
use
of
stretchable
words
(拉长词)
in
over
100
billion
tweets
between
2008
and
2016,
I
texted
my
daughter
a
link
with
the
message,
“I
thought
of
youuuu
when
I
read
this
study
about
streeetccchabblee
words.”
She
replied,
“Haaahahaha
Youuuu
knowww
me
soooooo
wellll!!!”
Stretchability
is
a
powerful
linguistic(语言学的)
device
that
makes
a
written
word
visually
forceful.
That
goes
for
the"gooooooaaaaaaal"of
a
soccer
announcer,
a
teenager’s
“finallyyyyy”,
and
a
surfer
’s"aweeeeeesome"
And
“booooy”
is
popular
on
Twitter.
Writing
in
the
journal
PLOS
ONE,
the
researchers
detail
how
they
combed
through
100
billion
tweets,
mapping
how
often
these
words
are
stretched,
and
how
far
they
are
elongated
(拉长)ー“haha”
versus
“hahahahaaaa”,
for
example.
Stretchable
words
are
playful
and
fun.
But,
as
a
parent,
I
sometimes
worry
that
constantly
using
misspelled
stretched
words
could
make
it
hard
for
kids
like
my
daughter
who
is
now
in
seventh
grade
to
write
in
a
more
formal
style
when
it
becomes
necessary
in
high
school,
college,
and
beyond.
The
latest
research
on
stretched
words
by
Tyler
Gray
and
colleagues
at
the
University
of
Vermont
is
the
most
comprehensive
study
to
date
that
uses
big
data
to
analyze
how
people
use
stretched
words
on
a
social
media
platform.
Notably,
the
title
of
Gray
's
paper,
"Hahahahaha,
Duuuuude,
Yeeessss!
"
includes
three
different
examples
of
stretchable
words.
All
kidding
aside,
this
research
provides
valuable
insights
into
new
linguistic
patterns
surrounding
the
dynamics
of
purposely
mistyping
and
misspelling
some
words
I
have
mixed
feelings
about
the
increased
use
of
stretched
words.
On
the
one
hand,
I
love
the
occasional
use
of
a
stretchable
word
in
a
text
message;
stretched
words
make
written
and
spoken
language
more
emotive
without
the
use
of
an
emoji
or
emoticon.
It
will
be
interesting
to
see
if
stretched
words
in
casual
correspondence
just
indicate
a
short-lived
fashion,
or
if
they
are
here
to
stay
and
need
to
be
added
to
dictionaries.
However,
stretching
out
too
many
words
in
a
text
can
be
annoying
and
reduces
their
effect.
24.
Why
did
the
author
send
her
daughter
the
message
“I
thought
of
youuuu...”?
A.
To
do
it
playfully.
B.
To
remind
her
of
the
new
trend.
C.
To
show
her
the
power
of
linguistics.
D.
To
inspire
her
to
analyze
stretchable
words
25.
What's
the
author
's
concern
about
kids
use
of
stretched
words?
A.
It
may
misdirect
kids.
B.
It
may
make
kids
less
playful.
C.
It
may
kill
kids’
interest
in
writing.
D.
It
may
lead
kids
to
misspell
words
constantly.
26.
What
is
Gray's
paper
probably
about?
A.
Why
people
often
mistype
words
on
purpose.
B
.How
stretched
words
become
a
new
linguistic
pattern.
C.
Exploring
the
use
of
stretchable
words

D.

of
stretchable

27.
What
should
someone
do
when
using
stretched
words
according
to
the
author?
A.
Attach
importance
to
the
meaning
behind
them.
B.
Stop
using

at

C.
Use

When
I
was
worried
my
son
was
coming
down
with
a
little
something,
I
remarked
that
his
eating
was
slowing
down
a
bit.
“I've
noticed
how
fast
you
eat,”
my
wife’s
Auntie
Carmel
said.
I
looked
down
at
my
plate
-the
plate
from
which
my
food
had
just
been
emptied-
and
looked
up
at
her
scientific
stare.
“I’m
not
being
critical,”
she
assured
me,
“and
I
find
it
fascinating.”
She
said
“fascinating”
the
way
a
polite
member
of
the
FBI
might
describe
your
recent
Internet
searches.
“You
do
eat
pretty
fast,”
whispered
my
wife
by
the
time
I’d
placed
my
knives
and
forks
down.
Her
mother
shared
the
same
view
shortly
after
that,
and
soon
the
entire
table
were
unanimous
in
this
opinion.
We
were
at
my
wife’s
parents’
home
in
Dublin
because
Auntie
Carmel
was
visiting
from
New
York,
and
it
was
a
good
chance
for
her
to
meet
our
son,
who
immediately
adored
her.
We
all
adore
Auntie
Carmel
for
her
ability
to
speak
her
mind
in
a
way
that
never
seems
rude.
In
fairness
to
Carmel,
I
do
eat
quickly.
I’m
fond
of
saying
it’s
because
I
come
from
a
large
family.
I
now
realize
this
makes
no
sense.
There
is
also
the
fact
that
my
wife’s
mum
and
Auntie
Carmel
themselves
both
come
from
a
family
of
12.
The
same
is
true
for
her
dad.
Yet
somehow,
none
of
them
eat
as
if
their
legs
were
on
fire.
It’s
a
habit
I
picked
up
along
the
way,
and
I
might
have
been
permanently
blind
to
it
without
this
intervention.
Left
unexamined,
it
might
have
coloured
my
parenting,
demanding
my
speed
as
a
default(默认)for
my
son,
for
I
remarked
that
his
eating
was
slowing
down
a
bit.
For
now,
at
least,
he
can
clear
his
plate
as
slowly
as
he
likes.
28.
How
does
Auntie
Carmel
feel
about
the
author’s
eating
habit?
A.
Disturbing.
B.
Embarrassing.
C
.Interesting.
D.
Puzzling.
29.
What
does
the
underlined
word
“unanimous”
in
Paragraph
3
probably
mean?
A.
At
a
loss
B.In
agreement
C.Out
of
patience
D.Under
consideration
30.
What
do
we
know
about
Auntie
Carmel?
A.
She
is
skilled
at
expressing
herself.
B.
She
is
particular
about
table
manners.
C.
She
lives
alone
in
New
York.
D.
She
tends
to
criticize
others.
31.
What
can
be
learned
from
Paragraph
5?
A.
Children
in
large
families
usually

D
A
new
study,
published
in
Music
Education
Research,
examined
whether
an
extended
music
education
had
an
impact
on
pupils’
experienced
satisfaction
with
school.
Nearly
1,
000
pupils
at
ten
Finnish
schools
with
extended
music
classes
and
comparison
classes
participated
in
a
survey
that
measured
the
quality
of
school
life
at
Year
3
and
Year
6.
According
to
the
results,
the
differences
between
the
extended
music
classes
and
the
comparison
classes
were
significant
at
Year
6.
But
there
were
no
differences
between
the
groups
at
Year
3.
The
most
likely
explanation
is
the
amount
of
music
lessons
which
was
four
hours
per
week
for
the
extended
music
classes
and
one
lesson
per
week
for
the
normal
classes.
Merely
attending
an
extended
education
class
at
Year
3
did
not
cause
differences
in
school
satisfaction.
To
explore
whether
belonging
to
any
extended
education
class
would
have
the
same
benefits,
some
extended
education
classes
with
an
emphasis
on
visual
arts
and
sports
were
included
in
the
analysis.
However,
school
satisfaction
in
these
classes
did
not
differ
from
that
in
the
normal
ones
at
Year
6.
“Singing
in
a
choir
and
group
performance
are
popular
activities
at
extended
music
classes.
Other
studies
have
established
that
people
find
it
very
satisfying
to
synchronize
(合拍)
with
one
another.
That
increases
connection
within
the
group
and
may
even
make
people
like
each
other.
Other
subjects
in
the
school
do
not
have
as
intensive
training
in
synchrony
and
cooperation
(协作)
as
music
lessons,
which
could
explain
part
of
the
phenomenon,”says
doctoral
student
Paivi-sisko
Eerola,
at
the
University
Jyvaskyla,
Finland.
A
partial
answer
may
be
that
girls
usually
tend
to
give
more
positive
scores
on
satisfaction
with
school
and
they
also
make
up
the
majority
of
pupils
at
extended
music
classes.
However,
the
gender
differences
do
not
fully
explain
the
observed
results.
In
fact,
it
seems
that
extended
music
classes
improve
the
quality
of
school
life
more
for
boys
than
girls.
Maybe
it’s
impossible
to
adopt
the
Finnish
music
education
system,
but
the
benefits
of
having
a
few
extra
hours
of
art
and
self-expression
via
music
every
week
are
dramatic
and
necessary.
32.
What
did
the
new
study
find?
A.
Elder
kids
are
content
with
school
when
receiving
more
music
lessons.
B.
Extended
music
education
is
getting
popular
in
many
Finnish
schools.
C.
Primary
pupils
have
different
preference
for
the
class
arrangements.
D.
Music
education
may
have
different
functions
in
different
grades.
33.
What
is
the
characteristic
of
those
newly
included
education
classes
?
A.
They
pay
more
attention
to
kids’
feelings
and
emotions.
B.
They
stress
visual
appreciation
and
physical
activity.
C.
They
are
extended
to
the
same
length
and
frequency.
D.
They
are
attended
by
both
younger
and
elder
kids.
34.
What

s
the
benefit
of
extended
music
classes
according
to
Eerola?
A.
They
can
build
good
teacher-student
relationship.
B.
They
effectively
practice
students’
singing
skill.
C.
They
can
promote
teamwork
between
students.
D.
They
will
develop
students’
interest
in
music.
35.
Who
will
probably
be
most
interested
in
the
finding
of
the
new
study?
A.
The
researchers
B.
Music

B
I
went
snowboarding
in
France
with
my
little
brother
and
what
we
lacked
in
skill
was
made
up
for
in
enthusiasm.
That
day,
fresh
snow
had
been
falling.
We
stopped
near
the
top
of
an
off-path
section.
I
let
my
brother
disappear
into
the
trees
ahead,
figuring
I
would
soon
catch
up.
I
began
to
pick
up
speed
when
I
was
suddenly
thrown
off
balance.
Just
as
I
was
regaining
control,
I
ran
into
the
trunk
of
a
large
tree.
It
was
like
hitting
a
solid
wall.
The
pain
was
instant.
I
quickly
realized
the
situation
could
get
very
serious.
Nobody
would
be
coming
past.
There
was
no
phone
signal.
It
was
snowing
and
cold.
If
I
waited,
I
would
probably
be
rescued
eventually.
But
the
chance
of
freezing
to
death
before
that
happened
was
too
high
for
me
to
risk
staying
put.
I
managed
to
get
the
board
off
from
my
feet
and
moved
it
under
my
stomach
so
I
was
lying
on
it.
I
faced
down
the
mountain
and
used
the
board
to
slowly
drag
and
slide
my
body
down
the
steep,
tree-lined
slope
(斜坡).
It
took
about
two
hours
before
a
skier
found
me
and
I
got
help.
I
couldn't
feel
my
hands
or
my
toes
from
the
cold,
but
the
relief
at
knowing
I
was
safe
was
massive.
I
had
broken
one
of
my
backbones,
so
I
had
an
operation
where
the
doctors
inserted
plates.
The
constant
pain
was
unbearable,
but
it
wasn't
as
bad
as
seeing
the
pain
and
worry
I
put
my
family
through.
The
recovery
road
was
tough,
but
I
was
lucky.
Gradually,
I
was
able
to
walk,
then
swim,
then
cycle
and
then
run.
I
haven't
been
back
to
the
slopes
yet,
but
it
might
happen
someday—
I
will,
however,
choose
the
paths.

the
risks
of

training
in
the
future.
D.

27.
What
is
the
purpose
of
this
text?
A.
To
share
a
lesson.
B.
To

a
diary.
C.

C
Losing
your
ability
to
think
and
remember
is
pretty
frightening.
We
know
the
risk
of
dementia
(痴呆症)
increases
with
age.
But
if
you
have
memory
slips,
you
probably
needn’t
worry.
There
are
pretty
clear
differences
between
signs
of
dementia
and
age-related
memory
loss.
After
age
50,
it’s
quite
common
to
have
trouble
remembering
the
names
of
people,
places
and
things
quickly,
says
Dr.
Kirk
Daffner
of
Brigham
and
Women’s
Hospital
in
Boston.
The
brain
ages
just
like
the
rest
of
the
body.
Certain
parts
become
smaller,
especially
areas
in
the
brain
that
are
important
to
learning,
memory
and
planning.
Changes
in
brain
cells
can
affect
communication
between
different
regions
of
the
brain.
And
blood
flow
can
be
reduced
as
blood
vessels
narrow.
Forgetting
the
name
of
an
actor
in
a
favorite
movie,
for
example,
is
nothing
to
worry
about.
But
if
you
forget
the
plot
of
the
movie
or
don’t
remember
even
seeing
it,
that’s
far
more
concerning,
Daffner
says.
When
you
forget
entire
experiences,
he
says,
that’s
“a
red
flag
that
something
more
serious
may
be
involved”.
Forgetting
how
to
operate
a
familiar
object
like
a
microwave
oven,
or
forgetting
how
to
drive
to
the
house
of
a
friend
you’ve
visited
many
times
before
can
also
be
signs
of
something
going
wrong
But
even
then,
Daffner
says,
people
shouldn’t
panic.
There
are
many
things
that
can
cause
confusion
and
memory
loss,
including
health
problems
like
temporary
stoppage
of
breathing
during
sleep,
high
blood
pressure,
or
depression,
as
well
as
medications
(药物)
like
antidepressants.
You
don’t
have
to
figure
this
out
on
your
own.
Daffner
suggests
going
to
your
doctor
to
check
on
medications,
health
problems
and
other
issues
that
could
be
affecting
memory.
And
the
best
defense
against
memory
loss
is
to
try
to
prevent
it
by
building
up
your
brain’s
cognitive(认知的)
reserve,
Daffner
says.
“Read
books,
go
to
movies,
take
on
new
hobbies
or
activities
that
force
one
to
think
in
novel
ways,

he
says.
In
other
words,
keep
your
brain
busy
and
working.
And
also
get
physically
active,
because
exercise
is
a
known
brain
booster
28.
Why
does
the
author
say
that
one
needn’t
be
concerned
about
memory
slips?
A.
Not
all
of
them
are
related
to
one’s
age.
B.
Not
all
of
them
are
symptoms
of
dementia.
C.
They
occur
only
among
certain
groups
of
people.
D.
They
are
quite
common
among
fifty-year-old
people.
29.
Which
memory-related
symptom
should
people
take
seriously?
A
Totally
forgetting
how
to
do
one’s
daily
routines.
B.
Inability
to
recall
details
of
one’s
life
experiences
C.
Failure
to
remember
the
names
of
movies
or
actors
D.
Occasionally
confusing
the
addresses
of
one’s
friends.
30.
What
should
people
do
when
signs
of
serious
memory
loss
show
up?
A.
Check
the
brain’s
cognitive
reserve.
B.
Stop
medications
affecting
memory.
C.
Turn
to
a
professional
for
assistance.
D.
Exercise
to
improve
their
well-being
31.
What
is
Dr.
Daffner’s
advice
for
fight
against
memory
loss?
A
Having
regular
physical
and
mental
checkups.
B.
Taking
medicine
that
helps
boost
one’s
brain.
C.
Engaging
in
known
memory
repair
activities.
D.
Staying
active
both
physically
and
mentally
D
Most
of
us
marry
creativity
to
our
concept
of
self
either
we’re
“creative”
or
we
aren't,
without
much
of
a
middle
ground.
“I'm
just
not
a
creative
person!”
a
frustrated
student
might
say
in
art
class,
while
another
might
blame
her
talent
at
painting
for
her
difficulties
in
math,
giving
a
comment
such
as,
“I'm
very
right-brained”.
Dr.
Pillay,
a
tech
entrepreneur
and
an
assistant
professor
at
Harvard
University,
has
been
challenging
these
ideas.
He
believes
that
the
key
to
unlocking
your
creative
potential
is
to
ignore
the
traditional
advice
that
urges
you
to
“believe
in
yourself”.
In
fact,
you
should
do
the
opposite:
Believe
you
are
someone
else.
Dr.
Pillay
points
to
a
2016
study
demonstrating
the
impact
of
stereotypes
on
one's
behavior;
The
authors,
educational
psychologists
Denis
Dumas
and
Kevin
Dunbar,
divided
their
college
student
subjects
into
three
groups,
instructing
the
members
of
one
to
think
of
themselves
as
“romantic
poets”
and
the
members
of
another
to
imagine
they
were
“serious
librarians”(the
third
group
was
the
control).
The
researchers
then
presented
all
the
participants
with
ten
ordinary
objects,
including
a
fork,
a
carrot,
and
a
pair
of
pants,
and
asked
them
to
come
up
with
as
many
different
uses
as
possible
for
each
one.
Those
who
were
asked
to
imagine
themselves
as
romantic
poets
came
up
with
the
widest
range
of
ideas,
whereas
those
in
the
serious-librarian
group
had
the
fewest.
Meanwhile,
the
researchers
found
only
small
differences
in
students'
creativity
levels
across
academic
majors.
These
results
suggest
that
creativity
is
not
a
fixed
individual
characteristic
but
a
“malleable”
product
of
context
and
perspective,
as
long
as
he
or
she
feels
like
a
creative
person.
Dr.
Pillay
argues
that,
besides
identifying
yourself
as
creative,
taking
the
bold,
creative
step
of
imagining
you
are
somebody
else
is
even
more
powerful.
So,
wish
you
were
more
creative?
Just
pretend!
32.
According
to
the
passage,
who
is
more
likely
to
unlock
his
creative
potential?
A.
An
art
major
who
always
believes
in
himself.
B.
A
math
major
who
has
excellent
academic
performance
C.
A
history
major
who
works
as
a
librarian
on
weekends.
D.
A
physics
major
who
likes
to
imagine
himself
as
a
poet.
33.
What
does
the
Study
conducted
by
Denis
Dumas
and
Kevin
Dunbar
focus
on?
A.
The
creativity
of
the
college
students.
B.
The
impact
of
stereotypes
on
one's
behavior
C.
The
stereotypes
of
the

34.
The
underlined
word
in
the
last
paragraph
probably
means__________?
A.

35.
Dr
Pillay
may
agree
with
the
statement
that__________.
A.
if
we
pretend
to
be
creative,
then
we
might
be
really

Television
has
a
huge
influence
on
our
lives.
It
is
one
of
the
most
important
ways
of
getting
information.
People
spend
part
of
their
spare
time
watching
television,
and
much
of
what
they
learn
comes
from
it.
What
we
see
on
TV

movies,news
shows,
sports
shows,
advertisements
and
so
on
have
increased
our
knowledge
and
have
changed
the
way
we
learn
about
the
world
today.
However,
not
everything
on
TV
is
true.
Most
of
the
viewers
(观众)
are
children.
Television
sometimes
is
like
a
baby-sitter.
It
spends
more
time
with
children
than
parents
do.
But
it
keeps
them
in
the
living
room
away
from
healthy
outdoor
activities.
They
spend
less
time
playing
soccer
or
walking
in
the
park
or
playing
games
in
the
yard.
Of
course,
there
are
some
programs
on
TV
that
are
good
for
children.
But
there
are
also
some
shows
which
are
bad.
Children
should
not
watch
unhealthy
shows.
Maybe
we
can't
change
what
is
on
TV,
but
we
can
choose
what
we
watch.
Do
you
agree?

According
to
Chinese
medicine,
the
body
is
like
a
tree
that
lives
through
the
seasons
of
nature,
and
it
needs
regular
energy
to
stay
healthy
and
prevent
illness.
The
four
important
bodily
organs
need
special
energy
in
each
season.
We
should
eat
special
food
and
vegetables
to
protect
them.
The
liver,
which
enriches
the
blood
with
energy
and
cleans
the
bad
things
in
the
body,
is
replenished
(补充)
in
spring
time.
We’d
better
eat
onions,
carrots
and
some
vegetable
leaves.
The
heart
seeks
comfort
and
coolness
from
the
heat
in
summer.
Melons,
pumpkin,
cucumbers,
tomatoes,
bitter
melon,
and
many
fresh
high-water
vegetables
have
a
cooling
effect
and
should
be
eaten.
The
lungs
often
suffer
from
colds,
coughs,
and
sore
throats
in
the
dry
fall
season.
They
need
to
be
replenished
with
foods
such
as
spinach(菠菜),
bananas,
pears,
potatoes.
The
kidneys(肾)
are
the
lowest
organs
in
the
body
like
the
roots
of
a
tree.
They
need
protection
in
winter
specially.
Replenish
the
kidneys
with
vegetables
like
broccoli,
green
chard
and
some
other
green
vegetables.

E
Many
of
us
don’t
pay
much
attention
to
the
importance
of
eye
care.
It
is
said
that
if
you
take
care
of
your
body,
then
you
can
surely
be
healthy.
That
is
why
our
eyes
should
be
given
a
lot
of
care.
Natural
eye
care
should
be
put
in
a
number
one
place.
There
are
several
causes
leading
to
poor
eyesight
like
not
enough
food,
genes
(基因)
and
aging
(老化).
Televisions,
computers
and
reading
are
also
the
causes
of
having
poor
eyesight.
If
you
happen
to
work
in
front
of
the
computer,
it
is
best
to
take
a
break
every
once
in
a
while.
Something
dirty
can
cause
redness
and
they
will
make
you
feel
uncomfortable.
It
is
bad
for
your
eyes,
too.
If
this
happens,
the
best
way
is
to
clean
your
eyes
by
using
cold
water.
You
must
also
try
your
best
to
protect
your
eyes
from
harmful
things.
For
example,
sunglasses
are
not
just
for
fashion
but
they
can
also
serve
as
a
great
way
to
protect
your
eyesight
form
UV
rays.
Eating
healthy
foods
will
do
good
to
your
eyesight.
Remember
that
vitamins
A,
C
and
E
are
good
for
eyes.
Try
to
eat
food
groups
that
have
these
vitamins.
And
you
should
do
eye
exercises
because
exercise
protects
your
eyesight,
too.
If
a
person
exercises
regularly
and
eats
the
right
kind
of
food,
his
eyes
will
stay
in
good
condition
for
a
long
time.
All
above
are
natural
ways
of
eye
care
that
help
us
keep
healthy
eyes.
Being
happy
all
the
time
can
be
helpful
to
a
person’s
eyesight,
too.
In
a
world,
eye
care
is
very
important,
no
matter
how
old
a
person
is.
66.
_____
is
the
most
important
way
to
protect
our
eyes.
A.
Natural
eye
care
B.
Taking
medicine
C.
Seeing
the
doctor
D.
Being
happy
all
the
time

All
the
following
causes
can
lead
to
bad
eyesight
except
_______.
A.
age
B.
height
C.
reading
D.
computers
68.
What
should
you
do
if
you
have
to
work
in
front
of
the
computer?
A.
Eat
healthy
foods.
B.
Clean
the
eye
by
using
cold
water.
C.
Wear
a
pair
of
sunglasses.
D.
Have
a
rest
after
working
for
a
while.

What
do
the
underlined
words
“UV
rays”
mean?
A.
沙尘
B.
闪电
C.
紫外线
D.
超声波

Moving
can
be
annoying–
whether
it’s
to
a
new
city
or
an
entirely
new
country.
The
good
news?
Volunteering
can
be
a
great
way
to
settle
into
a
new
community,
meet
people,
and
learn
valuable
skills.
Kajal
Patil
moved
to
the
United
States
from
India
in
February
2017.
Having
previously
volunteered
for
two
years
as
an
assistant
yoga
teacher
in
her
home
country,
Kajal
was
enthusiastic
about
volunteering
and
began
looking
for
volunteer
opportunities
that
match
her
interests.
She
was
drawn
to
a
volunteer
opportunity
to
review
applications
on
behalf
of
the
Young
Leaders
of
the
Americas
Initiative
(YLAI),
which
aims
to
help
Latin
American
and
Caribbean
business
to
bring
positive
changes
to
their
societies
and
contribute
more
fully
to
economic
development,
prosperity
and
security
in
those
places.
After
connecting
with
the
opportunity
and
successfully
completing
the
application
process,
Kajal
got
to
work.
Her
role
involved
reviewing
44
in-depth
applications
from
potential
candidates
across
Latin
America
and
the
Caribbean
for
a
four-week
fellowship
in
the
U.S..
She
was
responsible
for
describing
the
business
ideas
presented
by
these
candidates,
assessing
the
social
impact
of
their
businesses,
and
determining
the
strength
of
candidates
to
carry
out
their
plans.
With
almost
4,000
applicants
in
2017,
volunteers
like
Kajal
were
important
members
of
the
YLAI
team.
Kajal
says
that
this
volunteer
opportunity
super-charged
her
existing
skills,
while
helping
her
build
new
ones
such
as
time
management,
business
analysis,
decision-making,
planning,
and
presenting.
She
is
now
looking
for
her
next
volunteer
opportunity
and
reflects
positively
on
her
experience
with
YLAI.
“A
new
country
brings
in
a
lot
of
new
experiences
and
volunteering
helped
me
to
settle
into
a
new
environment,”
adds
Kajal.
“By
helping
others,
I
felt
needed
in
society.
It
promoted
my
confidence,
and
other
people
benefited
too.
Volunteering
is
a
great
opportunity
to
improve
yourself,
others,
and
the
whole
society.”

fabrics,
which
can
help
to
create
shirts
or
other
garments
that
could
be
used
to
monitor
vital
signs
such
as
temperature
and
heart
rate.
The
sensor-embedded
garments
can
be
customized
to
fit
close
to
the
body
of
the
person
wearing
them.
“We
can
have
electronic
parts
or
lab-made
electronics
embedded
within
the
textiles
that
we
wear
every
day,
creating
comfortable
garments,”
says
Dagdeviren,
an
professor
at
MIT.
His
group
set
out
to
create
garments
more
similar
to
the
clothes
we
normally
wear,
using
a
fabric
that
has
removable
electronic
sensors
in
it.
“In
our
case,
the
textile
is
not
electrically
functional.
It’s
just
a
passive
element
of
our
garment
so
that
you
can
wear
the
devices
comfortably
during
your
daily
activities,”
Dagdeviren
says.
“Our
main
goal
was
to
measure
the
physical
activity
of
the
body
all
from
the
same
body
part,
without
requiring
any
fixture
or
any
tape.”
The
electronic
sensors
consist
of
long
flexible
strips.
These
channels
have
small
openings
that
allow
the
sensors
to
be
exposed
to
the
skin.
For
this
study,
the
researchers
designed
a
shirt
with
30
temperature
sensors
and
an
accelerometer(加速度计)
that
can
measure
the
wearer’s
movement,
heart
rate,
and
breathing
rate.
The
garment
can
then
transmit
this
data
wirelessly
to
a
smartphone.
This
kind
of
sensing
could
be
useful
for
personalized
telemedicine,
allowing
doctors
to
remotely
monitor
patients.
“You
don’t
need
to
go
to
the
doctor
or
do
a
video
call,”
Dagdeviren
says.
“Through
this
kind
of
data
collection,
I
think
doctors
can
make
better
assessments
and
help
their
patients
in
a
better
way.”
Last
summer,
several
of
the
researchers
spent
time
at
a
factory
in
Shenzhen,
China,
to
experiment
with
mass-producing
the
material
used
for
the
garments.
“From
the
outside
it
looks
like
a
normal
T-shirt,
but
from
the
inside,
you
can
see
the
electronic
parts
which
are
touching
your
skin,”
Dagdeviren
says.
28.
Why
do
MIT
researchers
make
sensor-embedded
garments?
A.
To
complete
their
academic
tasks.
B.
To
transform
patents
for
benefits.
C.
To
create
garments
with
medical
functions.
D.
To
satisfy
customers’
personal
need
for
fashion.
29.
What
is
the
main
function
of
the
electronic
sensors?
A.
Monitoring
wearers’
behavior.
B.
Making
the
skin
fully
exposed.
C.
Adjusting
wearers’
body
temperature.
D.
Collecting
and
transmitting
health
information.
30.
What
do
we
know
about
the
sensor-embedded
garments?
A.
They
will
bring
convenience
to
patients.
B.
They
could
be
in
mass-production
soon.
C.
They
might
lead
the
new
fashion.
D.
They
may
take
the
place
of
doctors.
31.
What
can
we
infer
about
wearing
a
sensor-embedded
garment
according
to
Dagdeviren?
A.
It’s
fashionable.
B.
It’s
skin-friendly.
C.
It’s
eco-friendly.
D.
It’s
awkward.
D
Suppose
you
meet
a
person
for
the
first
time
who
comes
from
a
distant
country
but
is
fluent
in
your
language.
Would
you
adapt
the
tone
of
your
voice,
or
the
spacing
of
pauses
in
your
speech?
Would
you
adjust
your
body
language
and
facial
expressions,
depending
on
the
background
of
the
person
in
front
of
you?
These
are
just
a
handful
of
the
shifts
in
behavior
that
can
contribute
to
what
is
known
as
your
“cultural
intelligence”,
or
CQ.”
The
number
one
predictor
of
your
success
in
today’s
borderless
world
is
not
your
IQ,
or
not
even
your
expertise(专长),”
writes
social
scientist
David
Livermore
in
his
book
The
Cultural
Intelligence
Difference.
“It’s
your
CQ.”
Typically
CQ
is
measured
through
a
series
of
questions
that
assess
four
distinct
components.
The
first
is
“CQ
Drive”

the
motivation
to
learn
about
other
cultures.
Then
there
is
“CQ
Knowledge”,
which
is
an
understanding
of
some
of
the
general
cultural
differences
you
may
face.
“CQ
Strategy”
examines
how
you
make
sense
of
those
difficult
conflicts
and
learn
from
them,
while
“CQ
Action”
involves
your
behavioral
flexibility

whether
you
are
able
to
adapt
your
conduct
like
a
cultural
chameleon.
“While
understanding
a
specific
culture
can
be
useful,
it
may
not
predict
at
all
your
ability
to
engage
effectively
in
a
new
place,”
says
Livermore.
“In
fact,
our
research
finds
that
individuals
who
have
lived
in
multiple
locations
for
extended
time
are
more
likely
to
have
higher
CQ
Knowledge
than
those
who
have
lived
multiple
decades
in
one
overseas
setting.”
Someone
with
low
CQ
might
have
a
tendency
to
judge
everyone
else’s
behavior
by
his
own
cultural
standards.
If
he
comes
from
a
more
sociable
environment,
for
instance,
and
notices
that
his
Japanese
colleagues
are
very
quiet
in
a
meeting,
he
may
assume
that
they
are
being
unfriendly
or
bored.
A
person
at
the
top
of
the
scale,
meanwhile,
might
realize
that
silence
is
a
sign
of
respect
and
that
feedback
won’t
be
given
unless
it
is
explicitly
required.
As
a
result,
he’ll
make
sure
to
offer
suitable
opportunities
within
the
meeting
for
others
to
provide
their
opinions.
32.
Which
of
the
following
best
describes
“a
cultural
chameleon”?
A.
Learning
from
other
cultures
to
have
a
high
CQ.
B.
Taking
action
to
overcome
the
communication
barrier.
C.
Changing
behavior
according
to
the
cultural
background.
D.
Getting
along
well
with
others
despite
cultural
differences.
33.
What
is
the
best
way
to
get
high
CQ
Knowledge?
A.
Experiencing
a
variety
of
different
cultures.
B.
Spending
a
long
time
in
a
specific
culture.
C.
Talking
with
people
from
a
distant
country.
D.
Living
with
people
in
another
culture.
34.
What
kind
of
people
do
the
“Japanese
colleagues”
represent?
A.
People
with
low
CQ.
B.
People
with
high
CQ.
C.
People
from
a
different
culture.
D.
People
from
a
sociable
environment.
35.
Whom
is
the
text
mainly
intended
for?
A.
Those
who
are
going
to
be
a
social
scientist.
B.
Those
who
want
to
learn
about
CQ
Knowledge.
C.
Those
who
conduct
some
research
on
CQ
and
IQ.
D.
Those
who
interact
with
people
from
different
cultures.

The
film
Hacksaw

tells
a
story
of
World
War

hero
Desmond
Doss,
who
saved
lives
without
ever
firing
a
gun.
The
film
stars
Garfield
as
Doss,and
is
directed
by
Mel
Gibson.
The
film
is
based
on
the
2004
documentary(纪录片)The
Con-scientious
Objector
produced
by
Terry
Benedict.When
he
was
just
10
years
old,
he
first
knew
about
Doss.
After
becoming
a
filmmaker,
Benedict
approached
Doss,
encouraging
him
to
tell
his
story.
Hollywood
had
been
knocking
on
Doss's
door
for
many
years,but
Doss
wasn't
interested.“He
didn't
want
to
mention
his
life
in
the
war,”
Benedict
explains.
But
when
Benedict
insisted
on
making
a
documentary
about
his
life,
Doss
finally
agreed.Then
Benedict
spent
the
next
three
years
interviewing
Doss
and
his
fellow
soldiers
in
World
War
Ⅱ.
Not
long
after
the
documentary's
debut(问世),Benedict
met
with

The
two
wanted
to
make
Doss's
story
into
a
film,Hacksaw

Gibson
signed
on
to
direct.
Benedict
shared
his
knowledge
of
Doss
with
the
director
and
the
leading
actor
Garfield.
Benedict
took
Garfield
on
a
road
trip
to
Chattanooga,

Doss
lived
most
of
his
adult
life.
In
the
film

safety.
Even
when

stayed,
searching
for
survivors
and
pulling
his
tired
body
to
get
as
many
of
his
men
home
as
he
could.
“Doss
was
a
very

C
Thinking
of
getting
your
child
to
take
up
a
sport
that
involves
a
coach
or
instructor?
There
is
a
piece
of
good
news.A
new
study
finds
that
children
who
join
in
organized
physical
activities
at
a
young
age
are
less
likely
to
have
emotional
difficulties
by
the
time
they
turn
12.
"The
primary
school
years
are
a
critical
time
in
child
development,”said
Frédéric
N.
Brière,
a
professor
of
psycho-education
who
led
the
study.
And
every
parent
wants
to
raise
a
well-adjusted(适应性强的)child.”Besides
keeping
children
from
sitting
for
long,physical
activities,
such
as
structured
sports,have
the
potential
physical
and
mental
benefits,
Brière
believes,
something
parents
seem
to
know
instinctively(直觉地).
“We
followed
a
large
representative
population
of
typically
developing
Canadian
children
over
time
to
examine
whether
consistent
participation
in
organized
sports
from
ages
6
to
10
would
lessen
risks
associated
with
emotional
distress,
anxiety,
shyness,social
withdrawal(不合群)at
age
12,
said
Brière.“Our
goal
was
to
test
this
question
as
critically
as
possible
by
excluding
pre-existing
child
or
family
conditions
that
could
offer
a
different
explanation.”
To
do
this.
Brière
and
his
team
examined
data
from
children
born
in
1997
or
1998.From
ages
6
to
10,mothers
reported
whether
their
child
participated
in
organized
physical
activities.At
age
12,teachers
reported
on
the
child's
levels
of
emotional
distress,anxiety,shyness,and
social
withdrawal
at
school.
“The
results
revealed
that
children
who
participated
in
sports
consistently
from
ages
6
to
10
showed
fewer
cases
of
those
factors
at
age
12
than
their
peers
who
did
not
engage
in
physical
activities
in
a
consistent
way,”said
Brière
.“We
found
these
benefits
above
and
beyond
pre-existing
individual
and
family
characteristics.”
Brière
concluded,“Getting
kids
actively
involved
in
organized
sports
seems
to
promote
global
development.
This
involvement
appears
to
be
good
on
a
socio-emotional
level
apart
from
the
physical
benefits
it
brings.
Being
less
emotionally
troubled
between
primary
and
high
school
is
a
priceless
benefit
for
children,as
they
are
about
to
enter
a
much
larger
universe
with
bigger
academic
challenges.
28.
What
does
Brière's
study
show
about
doing
sports?
A.
It
helps
children
improve
study
efficiency.
B.
It
improves
children's
personality
development.
C.
It
strengthens
children's
relationship
with
their

D.
It
helps
prevent
children
from

29.
What
can
we
know
about
the
study
process?
A.
It
investigates
children
from
similar
backgrounds.
B.
It
takes
children's
personal
habits
into
consideration.
C.It
focuses
on
how
children
fit
in
with
the
environment.
D.
It
requires
cooperation
from
children's
parents
and
teachers.
30.
What
does
the
underlined
part
in
Paragraph
4
refer
to?
A.
Children's
personal
and
family
characteristics.
B.Children's
performances
in
the
study.
C.
Children's
emotional
problems.
D.Children's
daily
activities.
31.
Why
is
emotional
health
important
to
children
in
the
years
between
primary
and
high
school?
A.
They
are
too
busy
to
participate
in
sports.
B.
They
go
through
a
quick
development.
C.They
will
soon
face
great
academic
stress.
D.They
are
more
likely
to
have
mental
problems.
D
If

you're

The
same

just
about
every

every

this
type
of
in-your-face
transparency(透明).you
may
have
noticed
that
alcohol
is
not
the

The
answer
lies
in
the
powers
behind
that.
While
the
Food

(FDA)
regulates
the

It
is
because
of

The
reasons

go
back
to

While

required
to
print
the
nutritional
information
on
their
products,
consumer
advocates
have
been
calling
for
the
TTB
to
change
that.
And
it
has,
sort
of.In
2013,the
TTB
made
nutrition
labels
optional
for
alcohol.
But
some
health
experts
don't
feel
the
move
was
brave
enough.
Sara
Bleich,a
public
health
researcher,
said,“Many
adults
take
in
a
lot
of
calories
from
alcohol,
and
they
have
no
idea.”Her
work
revealed
that
the
average
American
regularly
consumes
400
calories
a
day
from
alcohol
alone.The
public
should
be
given
the
power
to
make
informed
decisions
about
their
health.
At
present,
substances
that
people
might
be
sensitive
to
have
to
be
labeled,but
other
ingredients(成分)do
not.Wines
that
contain
14
percent
alcohol
or
more
have
to
display
alcohol
content,while
wines
from
7
to
14
percent
don't
have
to
list
alcohol
content.
What
about
wines
with
less
than
7
percent
alcohol?
Those
aren't
regulated
by
the
TTB
at
all---those
are
under
the
control
of
the
FDA
and
so
they're
required
to
display
Nutrition
Facts
labels.
Change
is
going
on
though,
at
least
the
beer
industry
has
agreed
to
voluntarily
display
nutrition
facts
next
year.
Cheers!
