  M:
Good
morning,
and
welcome
to
the
program.
Have
you
ever
heard
of
a
four-year-old
college
student?
Meet
Nicholas
MacMahon,
who
is
now
studying
at
college
because
he
is
too
clever
for
regular
school.
Nicholas
spoke
well
before
he
was
one.
At
eighteen
months,
he
took
down
telephone
messages
for
his
parents.
At
two,
he
began
to
learn
French.
The
strange
thing
about
Nicholas
is
that
he
taught
himself
to
read
before
he
could
speak.
His
parents
knew
immediately
that
he
could
read.
When
he
could
speak,
he
corrected
his
own
grammar.
He
tried
two
different
schools,
but
he
was
bored
and
unhappy,
and
his
parents
decided
that
he
couldn’t
stay
there
if
he
was
really
going
to
learn
anything.
His
parents
did
not
have
enough
time
to
prepare
special
lessons
for
him.
The
MacMahons
had
no
idea
what
to
do
with
Nicholas.
Then
the
West
London
Institute
offered
to
help.
Nicholas
spends
some
of
his
time
there,
and
also
studies
at
home.
He
reads
the
newspaper
every
day,
and
he
can
play
the
violin
well.
The
only
bad
thing
is
that
he
doesn’t
have
any
social
life
at
school,
but
Nicholas
is
a
clever
child,
and
his
teachers
want
to
help
him
in
every
way.
17.
How
old
is
Nicholas?
A.
Two.
    B.
Four.
    C.
Eighteen.
18.
What
did
Nicholas
do
at
eighteen
months?
A.
He
began
to
learn
French.
B.
He
read
the
newspaper.
C.
He
took
down
telephone
messages
for
his
parents.
19.
Why
was
Nicholas
bored
and
unhappy
at
the
two
schools?
A.
He
had
too
much
homework.
B.
He
almost
couldn’t
learn
anything
special.
C.
His
teachers
often
corrected
his
spelling.
20.
Who
offered
to
help
Nicholas
finally?
A.
His
classmates.
B.
His
parents.

满分37.

  阅读下列短文,
从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
A
Good
Night’s
Sleep
  Sleep
plays
a
vital
role
in
good
health
and
well-being
throughout
your
life.
While
you’re
sleeping,
your
brain
is
forming
new
pathways
to
help
you
learn
and
remember
information.
Although
we
all
know
the
importance
of
getting
a
good
night’s
sleep,
not
all
of
us
know
the
best
way
of
getting
it.
A
sleep
expert,
Phil
Atherton,
gave
some
top
tips
for
getting
the
most
out
of
the
night,
which
will
leave
you
ready
for
action
in
the
morning.
  According
to
Phil
Atherton,
not
eating
a
large
meal
before
bedtime
is
important
for
getting
a
good
night’s
sleep.
The
time
difference
between
eating
and
sleeping
should
be
at
least
three
hours.
So
you’d
better
avoid
eating
any
food
three
hours
before
bed,
as
it
will
lower
your
blood
sugar
during
sleep
and
help
minimize
damage
from
too
much
sugar
floating
around.
  It’s
also
important
to
find
ways
to
prepare
your
body
for
sleep.
You
can
follow
a
routine
like
trying
not
to
expose
yourself
to
too
much
artificial
light
within
1
hour
before
bed,
as
your
brain
uses
light
to
help
set
internal
“body
clock”.
Although
it
might
seem
unnatural
to
schedule
your
sleep,
the
purpose
is
to
send
a
signal
to
your
body
and
mind
that
it’s
time
to
sleep.
  Another
way
to
prepare
your
body
for
sleep
is
to
get
into
a
relaxed
state
by
taking
a
bath
or
listening
to
soft
music.
Both
of
them
will
help
to
take
the
mind
off
the
daytime
pressures.
  Having
a
suitable
bed,
especially
a
suitable
mattress
(床垫),
is
necessary
for
a
good
night’s
sleep.
Sleep
is
a
personalized
activity,
and
we
all
adopt
different
sleeping
positions.
Finding
the
mattress
that
suits
you
will
reduce
back
pains
that
can
result
from
a
poor
sleeping
position.
The
bed
should
be
four
to
six
inches
longer
than
its
tallest
user,
allowing
for
space
to
move
around.
  The
recent
research
is
pretty
clear
that
a
good
night’s
sleep
in
a
major
component
of
good
health.
Since
the
start
of
the
21st
century,
studies
have
linked
a
lack
of
sleep
to
many
diseases,
such
as
diabetes
and
obesity.
Taking
action
now
will
lead
to
long-term
benefits
for
you
and
those
around
you.
21.
What
does
the
author
intend
to
tell
us
in
the
passage?
A.
When
to
start
a
sound
sleep.
B.
How
to
get
a
good
night’s
sleep.
C.
What
to
do
with
sleep
problems.
D.
Why
to
form
a
good
habit
of
sleeping.
22.
According
to
the
author,
before
going
to
sleep,
you’d
better
________.
?
A.
free
yourself
from
tension
B.
check
your
blood
sugar
C.
relieve
your
pain
in
the
back
D.
record
your
biological
clock
23.
What
does
the
underlined
word
“it”
in
Paragraph
2
refer
to?
A.
Not
eating
food.

B.
Taking
a
meal.
C.
Not

well.
D.
Having
a

  Former
National
Football
League
player
and
children’s
author
Tim
Green
has
added
another
book
to
his
list
of
accomplishments:
Unstoppable.
The
book
tells
the
story
of
a
12-year-old
boy
named
Harrison,
who
survives
life
in
a
cruel
foster
home
(寄养家庭)
before
he
finally
finds
a
loving
family.
Once
he
settles
in
and
realizes
his
natural
football
ability,
tragedy
strikes
again
and
he
loses
his
leg
because
of
a
deadly
bone
cancer.
Unstoppable
follows
Harrison’s
incredible
journey
as
he
faces
many
challenges
in
his
life.
  Tim
Green
says
he
decided
to
write
a
novel
about
a
kid
facing
cancer
after
watching
how
his
wife
fought
to
survive
her
own
illness.
“Her
mental
and
physical
toughness
were
more
heroic
to
me
than
anything
I’d
ever
seen
in
the
national
sports
leagues,

Green
told
TFK
kid
reporter
Zachary
J.
Lewis.
  After
watching
his
wife’s
battle,
Green
said,
he
knew
he
needed
to
write
about
a
person
who
struggled
through
a
serious
illness.
But
because
teenagers
are
the
target
for
his
books,
he
needed
to
tell
the
story
through
the
eyes
of
a
teenager.
  When
friends
introduced
Jeffrey
Keith
to
Green,
Green
knew
he
had
found
the
right
person
to
help
him
“capture
the
heroism
that
it
takes
to
fight
cancer”.
Cancer-survivor
Jeffrey
Keith
lost
his
leg
because
of
disease
at
twelve,
but
went
on
to
be
the
goalie
(守门员)
for
the
Boston
College
Division
1
Lacrosse
(长曲棍球)
Team
and
was
also
the
first
amputee
(被截肢者)
to
run
3,
300
miles
across
the
country.
When
Green
heard
Jeffrey
Keith’s
story,
he
knew
it
was
the
perfect
narrative
on
which
to
base
his
next
book.
  TFK
asked
Keith
what
it
felt
like
to
read
Unstoppable
for
the
first
time.
“Tim
captured
what
it
felt
like
for
me
to
go
through
this
experience
and
battle
back,

Keith
said.
“After
I
read
the
book,
Tim
asked
me
to
describe
it
in
one
word,
and
I
said
’awesome’.
Tim’s
book
sends
a
message
to
all
the
kids
across
the
country
that
are
facing
obstacles
that
can
have
nothing
to
do
with
cancer:
you
are
all
unstoppable,
as
long
as
you
believe
it.

24.
What
happened
to
Harrison
after
he
was
adopted
by

He
became
a
goalie
of
a
football
team.
B.
He
lost
one
leg
in

We
asked
couples
to
tell
us
where
they
met.
We
received
over
700
stories,
some
sad,
some
funny,
all
wonderful.
Here
is
a
selection
of
the
best
stories
they
sent
us.
  Mike
and
Alice
Brown
met
on
a
mountain.
They
were
climbing
in
Wales
in
1999
when
the
weather
turned
bad.
Alice,
an
experienced
climber,
knew
the
way
down
the
mountain,
and
she
helped
Mike
and
his
brother
reach
safely.
Mike
bought
her
dinner
to
say
thank
you,
and
they
were
married
a
year
later,
“We
live
near
the
mountains,
says
Alice,
and
every
morning
when
I
look
out
of
the
window,
I
remember
the
day
we
met.

  Jim
and
Donna
Dormer,
both
62,
have
an
even
stronger
connection
than
mountains.
Their
meeting
wasn’t
particularly
interesting—they
first
saw
each
other
in
a
bar—but
when
they
started
going
out,
they
discovered
one
interesting
fact.
They
were
born
in
the
same
hospital.
Not
only
that,
but
they
were
born
in
the
same
room.
Jim
says,
“I
show
Donna
a
photo
that
my
father
took
in
the
hospital
just
after
I
was
born.
In
the
background,
you
can
just
see
another
woman
with
her
young
baby.
That
woman
was
Donna’s
mother.

  New
York
couple
Jack
Kingsley
and
Marian
Strauss
met
when
he
was
cleaning
the
windows
of
her
office
on
the
105th
floor!
Marian
says,
“I
was
in
my
office
and
this
wonderfully
handsome
man
was
at
my
window,
cleaning.
It
was
a
cold
day,
so
I
invited
him
in
for
a
cup
of
coffee.
It
turned
out
that
he
was
from
the
same
town
where
I
grew
up.
He
was
charming!

Jack
continues
the
story,
“Marian
was
so
friendly,
not
like
most
of
the
office
workers
we
come
across.
We
became
friends
immediately
and
then
started
dating
about
a
week
later.

  In
Japan,
Christmas
just
isn’t
Christmas
without
butter.
That’s
because
the
Japanese
love
to
celebrate
Christmas
Eve
with
“Christmas
cakes,

which
are
filled
with
whipped
cream
and
topped
with
strawberries.
Making
this
tasty
treat
requires
some
serious
amounts
of
butter.
But
this
year,
the
creamy
golden
spread
is
in
short
supply
on
the
island
nation.
?
  In
fact,
many
Japanese
supermarkets
are
fresh
out
of
dairy
(milk)
products
entirely.
Those
that
do
still
have
butter
often
limit
shoppers
to
one
box
apiece,
and
the
price
for
that
box
is
much
higher
than
normal.
  Northern
Japan
has
been
suffering
unusually
cold
winters
in
recent
years,
and
all
of
Japan
has
had
to
endure
(忍受)
hotter
summers.
This
extreme
weather
has
stressed
out
the
nation’s
dairy
cows.
They
have
not
been
able
to
produce
their
expected
amount
of
milk.
  However,
even
before
the
bad
weather,
Japan’s
butter
supply
was
in
trouble.
The
number
of
dairy
farms
in
the
country
has
been
steadily
shrinking.
Not
many
young
people
in
Japan
want
to
become
dairy
farmers
anymore.
  The
demand
for
dairy
products
in
Japan
has
also
been
falling.
The
Japanese
diet
consists
mainly
of
rice
and
seafood,
and
it
often
doesn’t
require
many
milk
products.
So
the
government
decided
to
cut
back
the
number
of
the
country’s
dairy
cows
in
2007.
This
led
to
a
butter
shortage
in
2008
as
well
as
the
current
shortage.
  The
Japanese
government
has
tried
to
increase
the
stock
of
butter
by
importing
(进口)
about
10,
000
tons
from
overseas.
But
even
this
emergency
supply
has
done
little
to
end
the
shortage
this
Christmas
season.
  Blogger
Audrey
Akcasu
says
Japanese
people
are
using
substitutes
in
their
cooking
or
paying
more
money
for
real
butter.
“Some
bakeries
are
choosing
to
replace
butter
with
margarine
(人造黄油)
this
year,
claiming
the
slight
change
in
taste
will
be
less
noticeable
than
the
potential
higher
price
we
would
see
if
they
used
imported
butter,

she
writes
in
Nikkan
Gendai,
a
Japanese
newspaper.
“But
for
many
shoppers,
it’
ll
have
to
be
margarine
or
nothing
this
Christmas.

the
underlined

in

1
refer
to?

strawberry.
D.
The
Christmas

33.
Which
of
the
following
is
probably
very
popular
in
Japan?
A.

dairy
farmers.

various
dairy
products.
C.
Eating
cakes
at
Christmas.
D.

margarine
rather
than

Continually
falling

the

importing

from
overseas?

It’s
wise.

It’s
unnecessary.
C.
It’s

  Things
You
Should
Stop
Doing
to
Be
Successful
  Are
you
a
happy
person?
How
often
do
you
think
about
reasons
why
everyone
around
you
is
successful
though
they
are
not
better
than
you
in
general?
What
do
you
do
wrong?
Here
are
some
things
you
should
stop
doing
to
be
successful.
  1.
 36 ?
  Different
people
may
interpret
“success”
in
different
ways:
some
of
them
measure
it
in
money,
other
ones—in
positive
changes
to
people
around
them
and
the
world
in
general.
 37
Don’t
worry
about
what
other
people
think,
but
come
after
what
makes
you
happy.
?
  2.
Do
not
believe
anything
without
questioning
it.
   38
They
are
critical
thinkers,
and
they
understand
that
we
are
all
ruled
by
our
prejudices,
so
they
will
always
question
new
information.
?
  3.
Do
not
worry
about
unpredictable
things
that
may
happen
to
you.
  If
you
want
to
be
successful,
stop
thinking
about
everything
that
MAY
happen
to
you.
 39
Be
ready
to
change
your
deeds
and
decisions
when
things
suddenly
don’t
go
according
to
your
plan.
?
  4.
Do
not
care
about
what
other
people
think
of
you.
   40
Your
attempts
to
become
“good”
for
everyone
will
turn
into
nothing
but
new
worries,
stresses,
and
problems.
Successful
people
do
not
concentrate
on
the
quantity
of
people
to
please,
but
worry
about
their
quality
and
focus
on
developing
friendships
with
people
they
really
care
about.
?
A.
Do
not
wait
for
the
“right
time”
to
do
anything.
B.
Try
to
feel
comfortable
with
the
reality
and
accept
the
fact
that
your
future
can’t
be
predicted.
C.
Do
not
let
others
decide
what
“success”
is
for
you.
D.
As
far
as
we
all
know,
it’s
impossible
to
please
all
the
people
that
surround
us.
E.
Successful
people
do
not
just
accept
any
new
information
to
be
true.
F.
If
you
want
to
be
successful,
do
not
let
others
force
their
interpretation
of
success
on
you.
G.
Successful
people
never
ignore
or
avoid
problems,
no
matter
how
big
and
awful
they
seem.

today’s
situation

With
the

of

some
independent
bookstores
have
begun
to
think
about
how
to
 45
the
British
literary

with
dignity.
Recently,
British
book
agents,
writers,
bookshop
operators
and
other
groups
gathered
here
to
explore
the
 46
model
of
the

from
the
current
business
model,
those
who
can

Perhaps
the
literary

of
the

should
be
considered
as
the

of
the

is
on
creating
an
atmosphere.
 50 ,
bars
and

are
an
essential

of

so
that
people
come
here
for
a
lot
of
money,
attending
concerts,
watching

?
  Some
writers
say
that
physical
bookstores
can
 52
their
business
beyond

Good
morning,
and
welcome
to
the
program.
Have
you
ever
heard
of
a
four-year-old
college
student?
Meet
Nicholas
MacMahon,
who
is
now
studying
at
college
because
he
is
too
clever
for
regular
school.
Nicholas
spoke
well
before

was
one.
At
eighteen
months,
he
took
down
telephone
messages
for
his
parents.
At
two,
he
began
to
learn
French.
The
strange
thing
about
Nicholas
is
that
he
taught
himself
to
read
before
he
could
speak.
His
parents
knew
immediately
that
he
could
read.
When
he
could
speak,
he
corrected
his
own
grammar.
He
tried
two
different
schools,
but
he
was
bored
and
unhappy,
and
his
parents
decided
that
he
couldn’t
stay
there
if
he
was
really
going
to
learn
anything.
His
parents
did
not
have
enough
time
to
prepare
special
lessons
for
him.
The
MacMahons
had
no
idea
what
to
do
with
Nicholas.
Then
the
West
London
Institute
offered
to
help.
Nicholas
spends
some
of
his
time
there,
and
also
studies
at
home.
He
reads
the
newspaper
every
day,
and
he
can
play
the
violin
well.
The
only
bad
thing
is
that
he
doesn’t
have
any
social
life
at
school,
but
Nicholas
is
a
clever
child,
and
his
teachers
want
to
help
him
in
every
way.

  阅读下列短文,

A
A
Good
Night’s
Sleep
  Sleep
plays
a
vital
role
in
good
health
and
well-being
throughout
your
life.
While
you’re
sleeping,
your
brain
is
forming
new
pathways
to
help
you
learn
and
remember
information.
Although
we
all
know
the
importance
of
getting
a
good
night’s
sleep,
not
all
of
us
know
the
best
way
of
getting
it.
A
sleep
expert,
Phil
Atherton,
gave
some
top
tips
for
getting
the
most
out
of
the
night,
which
will
leave
you
ready
for
action
in
the
morning.
  According
to
Phil
Atherton,
not
eating
a
large
meal
before
bedtime
is
important
for
getting
a
good
night’s
sleep.
The
time
difference
between
eating
and
sleeping
should
be
at
least
three
hours.
So
you’d
better
avoid
eating
any
food
three
hours
before
bed,
as
it
will
lower
your
blood
sugar
during
sleep
and
help
minimize
damage
from
too
much
sugar
floating
around.
  It’s
also
important
to
find
ways
to
prepare
your
body
for
sleep.
You
can
follow
a
routine
like
trying
not
to
expose
yourself
to
too
much
artificial
light
within
1
hour
before
bed,
as
your
brain
uses
light
to
help
set
internal
“body
clock”.
Although
it
might
seem
unnatural
to
schedule
your
sleep,
the
purpose
is
to
send
a
signal
to
your
body
and
mind
that
it’s
time
to
sleep.
  Another
way
to
prepare
your
body
for
sleep
is
to
get
into
a
relaxed
state
by
taking
a
bath
or
listening
to
soft
music.
Both
of
them
will
help
to
take
the
mind
off
the
daytime
pressures.
  Having
a
suitable
bed,
especially
a
suitable
mattress
(床垫),
is
necessary
for
a
good
night’s
sleep.
Sleep
is
a
personalized
activity,
and
we
all
adopt
different
sleeping
positions.
Finding
the
mattress
that
suits
you
will
reduce
back
pains
that
can
result
from
a
poor
sleeping
position.
The
bed
should
be
four
to
six
inches
longer
than
its
tallest
user,
allowing
for
space
to
move
around.
  The
recent
research
is
pretty
clear
that
a
good
night’s
sleep
in
a
major
component
of
good
health.
Since
the
start
of
the
21st
century,
studies
have
linked
a
lack
of
sleep
to
many
diseases,
such
as
diabetes
and
obesity.
Taking
action
now
will
lead
to
long-term
benefits
for
you
and
those
around
you.

  Former
National
Football
League
player
and
children’s
author
Tim
Green
has
added
another
book
to
his
list
of
accomplishments:
Unstoppable.
The
book
tells
the
story
of
a
12-year-old
boy
named
Harrison,
who
survives
life
in
a
cruel
foster
home
(寄养家庭)
before
he
finally
finds
a
loving
family.
Once
he
settles
in
and
realizes
his
natural
football
ability,
tragedy
strikes
again
and
he
loses
his
leg
because
of
a
deadly
bone
cancer.
Unstoppable
follows
Harrison’s
incredible
journey
as
he
faces
many
challenges
in
his
life.
  Tim
Green
says
he
decided
to
write
a
novel
about
a
kid
facing
cancer
after
watching
how
his
wife
fought
to
survive
her
own
illness.
“Her
mental
and
physical
toughness
were
more
heroic
to
me
than
anything
I’d
ever
seen
in
the
national
sports
leagues,

Green
told
TFK
kid
reporter
Zachary
J.
Lewis.
  After
watching
his
wife’s
battle,
Green
said,
he
knew
he
needed
to
write
about
a
person
who
struggled
through
a
serious
illness.
But
because
teenagers
are
the
target
for
his
books,
he
needed
to
tell
the
story
through
the
eyes
of
a
teenager.
  When
friends
introduced
Jeffrey
Keith
to
Green,
Green
knew
he
had
found
the
right
person
to
help
him
“capture
the
heroism
that
it
takes
to
fight
cancer”.
Cancer-survivor
Jeffrey
Keith
lost
his
leg
because
of
disease
at
twelve,
but
went
on
to
be
the
goalie
(守门员)
for
the
Boston
College
Division
1
Lacrosse
(长曲棍球)
Team
and
was
also
the
first
amputee
(被截肢者)
to
run
3,
300
miles
across
the
country.
When
Green
heard
Jeffrey
Keith’s
story,
he
knew
it
was
the
perfect
narrative
on
which
to
base
his
next
book.
  TFK
asked
Keith
what
it
felt
like
to
read
Unstoppable
for
the
first
time.
“Tim
captured
what
it
felt
like
for
me
to
go
through
this
experience
and
battle
back,

Keith
said.
“After
I
read
the
book,
Tim
asked
me
to
describe
it
in
one
word,
and
I
said
’awesome’.
Tim’s
book
sends
a
message
to
all
the
kids
across
the
country
that
are
facing
obstacles
that
can
have
nothing
to
do
with
cancer:
you
are
all
unstoppable,
as
long
as
you
believe
it.

Mike

Mike

  Jim

one
interesting
fact.
They

D
  In
Japan,
Christmas
just
isn’t
Christmas
without
butter.
That’s
because
the
Japanese
love
to
celebrate
Christmas
Eve
with
“Christmas
cakes,

which
are
filled
with
whipped
cream
and
topped
with
strawberries.
Making
this
tasty
treat
requires
some
serious
amounts
of
butter.
But
this
year,
the
creamy
golden
spread
is
in
short
supply
on
the
island
nation.
?
  In
fact,
many
Japanese
supermarkets
are
fresh
out
of
dairy
(milk)
products
entirely.
Those
that
do
still
have
butter
often
limit
shoppers
to
one
box
apiece,
and
the
price
for
that
box
is
much
higher
than
normal.
  Northern
Japan
has
been
suffering
unusually
cold
winters
in
recent
years,
and
all
of
Japan
has
had
to
endure
(忍受)
hotter
summers.
This
extreme
weather
has
stressed
out
the
nation’s
dairy
cows.
They
have
not
been
able
to
produce
their
expected
amount
of
milk.
  However,
even
before
the
bad
weather,
Japan’s
butter
supply
was
in
trouble.
The
number
of
dairy
farms
in
the
country
has
been
steadily
shrinking.
Not
many
young
people
in
Japan
want
to
become
dairy
farmers
anymore.
  The
demand
for
dairy
products
in
Japan
has
also
been
falling.
The
Japanese
diet
consists
mainly
of
rice
and
seafood,
and
it
often
doesn’t
require
many
milk
products.
So
the
government
decided
to
cut
back
the
number
of
the
country’s
dairy
cows
in
2007.
This
led
to
a
butter
shortage
in
2008
as
well
as
the
current
shortage.
  The
Japanese
government
has
tried
to
increase
the
stock
of
butter
by
importing
(进口)
about
10,
000
tons
from
overseas.
But
even
this
emergency
supply
has
done
little
to
end
the
shortage
this
Christmas
season.
  Blogger
Audrey
Akcasu
says
Japanese
people
are
using
substitutes
in
their
cooking
or
paying
more
money
for
real
butter.
“Some
bakeries
are
choosing
to
replace
butter
with
margarine
(人造黄油)
this
year,
claiming
the
slight
change
in
taste
will

the
potential
higher
price
we
would
see
if
they
used
imported
butter,

for
many

to

   40
Your
attempts
to

into
nothing

new
worries,
stresses,
and
problems.
Successful
people
do
not
concentrate
on
the
quantity
of
people
to

worry
about
their
quality
and
focus
on
developing
friendships
with
people

let
others
decide
what
“success”
is
for
you.

be
successful,
do
not
let
others
force
their
interpretation
of
success
on
you.
G.
Successful
people
never
ignore
or
avoid
problems,
no
matter
how
big
and
awful
they
seem.
