Wild
beavers
(河狸)
are
back!
Experts
say
that
the
wild
beaver
families
are
doing
well.
The
beavers
are
even
boosting
wildlife
and
the
environment!
Over
ten
years
ago,
a
family
of
beavers
turned
up
in
a
part
of
the
river
Otter,
in
Devon.
No
one
knew
exactly
where
they
came
from.
It
was
a
big
surprise
-wild
beavers
hadn't
lived
in
England
for
around
400
years!
In
2015,
the
government
allowed
the
beavers
to
stay
there
as
part
of
a
trial
(试验).
They
wanted
to
see
if
these
animals
could
be
reintroduced
to
the
wild.
The
trial
ends
in
February.
Some
scientists
from
the
University
of
Exeter
already
say
the
beavers
help
the
wild
life
in
the
area.
One
scientist
called
it
“an
amazing
story”.
A
lot
of
this
is
because
of
dams.
Beavers
build
dams
along
the
river.
This
creates
deep
pools
in
the
riverbed
and
slows
the
water
down.
Scientists
say
this
is
perfect
for
many
different
types
of
plants
and
animals!
Many
plants
are
growing
near
the
beavers.
Different
types
of
animals
are
also
becoming
more
and
more
in
the
river.
Beavers
also
help
make
flooding
less,
scientists
say.
The
beavers'
dams
slow
down
the
speed
of
the
river,
especially
after
heavy
rain.
There
are,
however,
some
problems.
Beavers
gnaw
(咬,啃)
on
trees
and
this
can
harm
them.
Their
dams
can
also
sometimes
create
floods
(洪水)
on
people's
land.
Beavers
aren't
the
only
animals
that
are
being
reintroduced
to
the
wild!
In
2019,
red
squirrels
were
brought
back
to
an
area
of
the
Scottish
Highlands.
Further
away,
the
world's
rarest
(罕见的)duck,
the
Madagascar
pochard,
is
making
a
comeback.
It
was
set
free
into
the
wild
on
the
African
island
in
2019
and
is
doing
well.
Who
knows
what
other
animals
might
be
making
a
comeback?
19.

the
following
best

“boosting”
in
paragraph
1?

building
B.
spreading
C.
helping
D.
creating
20.
Why
did
the
government
want
a
trial
first?
Because
they
wanted
to
_______.
A.
grow
more
plants
along
the
river
B.
build
dams
for
the
beavers
in
the
wild
C.
introduce
the
beavers
to
the
wild
D.
see
if
the
beavers
could
be
reintroduced
to
the
wild
21.
What
are
the
good
things
about
wild
beavers
living
on
the
river
Otter?
A.
They
help
plants
grow
and
make
flooding
less.
B.
They
bring
heavy
rain
and
floods.
C.
They
gnaw
on
trees
and
harm
them.
D.
Their
dams
create
floods
on
people's
land.
22.
How
many
kinds
of
animals
are
mentioned
in
the
news
story
which

almost
everyone.
And
his

an

is

During
a
trip
to
China
four
years
ago,
Britain's
Prince
William
even
met
the
famous
bear
at
the
Chinese
opening
of
the
film
Paddington.
Paddington
was
first
introduced
to
the
world
in
1958
in
the
children's
book
A
Bear
Called
Paddington
by
British
writer
Michael
Bond.
In
the
story,
Paddington
is
kind
and
humorous
also
polite
and
always
calls
people
"Mr
",
"Mrs."
and
"Miss".
This
cute
bear
immediately
won
over
people's
hearts.
"Many
Britons
were
raised
on
tales
of
Paddington,
the
second-best-known
bear
in
fiction(小说)after
Winnie
the
Pooh.
"The
Economist
noted.
The
story
shows
how
kind
British
people
are
towards
those
who
are
in
trouble,
as
Paddington
is
given
a
new
home
in
London
after
escaping
from
an
earthquake
in
Peru.
As
time
went
on,
Paddington
became
popular
in
other
countries.
He
first
appeared
on
TV
in
1975.
He's
also
been
made
into
toys
that
wear
different
costumes.
He's
been
a
guard
for
the
British
royal(l王室的)
family,
a
British
policeman
and
a'
coffee
shop
waiter.
Paddington
is
also
beloved
that
it's
common
to
find
plates
and
tea
towels
with
Paddington
patterns(图案)in
British
homes.
Paddington
has
a
special
facial
expression.
He
is
known
for
giving
a
hard
stare(瞪视)whenever
he
meets
somebody
he
doesn't
like.
Therefore,
when
someone
gives
a
hard
stare,
you
could
say
that
they're
making
a
"Paddington
Bear
face.

Most
teens
try
very
hard
to
look
good.
They
wear
beautiful
clothes,
cool
shoes
and
fashionable
sunglasses.
They
may
want
to
stay
home
from
school
because
of
the
smallest
pimple(粉刺).
I
know-because
I
used
to
focus
only
on
my
appearance.
However,
now
I
work
hard
to
see
more
than
just
my
looks.
I'll
explain
why.
Firstly,
if
you
only
focus
on
how
you
look,
you'll
also
focus
only
on
the
appearance
of
others.
As
a
result,
you'll
become
a
person
who
can't
see
the
truly
important
characteristics
(品质)
in
others.
Some
people
don't
follow
the
latest
fashion
trends.
If
you
avoid
getting
to
know
them,
you’ll
miss
out
on
many
interesting
and
valuable
relationships
in
your
life.
Moreover,
if
you
focus
only
on
your
appearance,
you’ll
miss
out
on
chances
to
improve
your
abilities,
For
example,
if
you
spend
all
your
time
trying
to
look
fashionable,
you
won’t
have
any
time
to
become
a
better
musician
or
improve
your
grades
at
school.
Even
the
most
attractive
people
need
to
have
skills
to
succeed
in
life.
In
addition,
focusing
only
on
your
looks
can
make
you
feel
disappointed
about
yourself.
If
you
don't
worry
about
a
pimple
on
your
face,
you'
ll
be
less
likely
to
feel
unhappy
about
yourself.
On
the
whole,
happy
people
like
to
communicate
with
the
world
in
a
positive
way.
Therefore,
feeling
happy
is
more
important
than
looking
good.
You
should
work
hard
at
feeling
good,
not
just
looking
good.
I
used
to
focus
only
on
how
I
looked.
However,
now
I
work
hard
to
focus
on
all
the
different
parts
of
myself--my
appearance,
personality,
abilities,
and
so
on.
So
I'm
a
much
happier
person.
If
you
take
my
advice,
you'll
be
a
happier
person
too.
Your
first
step
is
to
look
at
yourself
without
a
mirror!
27.
What's
the
writer's
purpose
of
writing
the
first
paragraph?
A.
To
introduce
his
opinion
on
looks.
B.
To
explain
how
important
your
look
is.
C.
To
let
you
buy
more
beautiful
things.
D.
To
tell
you
what
he
used
to
be
like.
28.
According
to
the
writer,
focusing
only
on
your
appearance____________.
A.
encourages
you
to
enjoy
the
world
B.
helps
you
see
important
points
in
others
C.
causes
you
to
feel
proud
of
yourself
D.
stops
you
from
improving
your
abilities
29.
The
passage
is
about
the
importance
of____________.
A.
focusing
on
your
physical
appearance
B.
improving
your
abilities
and
skills
C.
seeing
all
the
different
parts
of
yourself
D.
cool
clothes
and
fashionable
accessories

one
careless
step

Then
I

Someone
at
the

was
telling
me

one
last
effort.
The

the
clouds.
I
climbed
up
the
last
few
meters
and
suddenly

done
it!
I
was
there!
I
was

So,
Susan,
do
you
have
anything

planned
for
this
Saturday?
W:
Uh,
I’m
very
busy.
Why
do
you
ask?
M:
Oh,
I
was
wondering
if
you
would
like
to
get
together
and
do
something
like
seeing
a

or
taking
a
walk

W:
I’d
love
to,
but
I’m
really
going
to
be
busy
all
day
on
Saturday.
M:
What
do
you
have
to
do
on
that
day?
W:
First,
my
mum
asked
me
to
help
clean
the
house
in
the
morning,
and
then
I
have
to
go
to
the
dentist
at
12:00.
I
can’t
miss
that
because
I’ve
cancelled
twice
before.
M.
Well,
what
about
after
that?
W:
Well,
I’m
going
to
run
around
all
day.
Julie
asked
me
to
her
house
at
1:30
to
help
her
with
her

project.
But
I’m
afraid
I’ll
be
half
an
hour
late.
M:
Oh,
you’re
always
so
busy.
(停2秒,然后重复,后再停15秒)
听下面一段对话,回答第9至第11三个小题。现在,你有15秒钟的时间阅读这三个小题。
(停15秒)
M:
Excuse
me?
W:
Yes.
Can
I
help
you?
M:
Do
you
remember
me?
I
just
had
lunch
here
a
half
hour
ago.
W:
Of
course
I
remember
you.
M:
I
think
I
lost
my
wallet
here.
W:
Oh,
no.
But
I
didn’t
see
anything.
M:
Hmm…
I
don’t
know
how
it
could
have
happened.
W:
I
remember,
sir,
that
your
friend
took
the
bill.
Then
are
you
sure
you
took
your
wallet
out
of
your
pocket
while
you
were
here?
M:
No,
I’m
not
sure.
But
I
usually
take
out
my
wallet
when
I
sit
down.
W:
Maybe
you
lost
it
before
you
came
here.
Or
maybe
you
left
it
at
home.
M:
But
what
should
I
do?
W:
Well,
the
first
thing
you
should
do
is
to
make
sure
it’s
not
at
home.
Then,
if
it
isn’t,
you
need
to
call
your
credit
card
companies
and
cancel
your
cards.
M:
Thanks
for
your
help.
(停2秒,然后重复,后再停15秒)
听下面一段独白,回答第12至第15四个小题。现在,你有20秒钟的时间阅读这四个小题。
Do
you
get
angry
when
your
friends
sing
loudly
while
you
are
trying
to
study?
Or
when
your
best
friend
does
not
wait
for
you
after
school?
If
you
do,
you
need
to
take
control
of
your
feelings
and
stop
getting
angry
so
easily.
Getting
angry
with
people
can
cause
you
to
lose
friends.
Allen
Ribet,
an
American
high
school
teacher,
has
written
a
book
to
help
you
control
your
feelings.
It
tells
you
how
to
stay
cool
when
bad
things
happen
to
you.
The
book
says
that
getting
angry
only
makes
problems
worse.
It
can
never
make
them
better.
Getting
angry
is
not
a
natural
way
to
show
your
emotions.
The
book
says,
all
you
have
to
do
is
to
tell
yourself
not
to
be
angry.
When
a
baby
falls
over,
it
only
cries
if
people
are
watching
it.
Like
a
baby,
you
should
get
angry
only
if
you
are
sure
it
is
the
right
thing
to
do.
(停2秒,
然后重复,
停20秒)

version
Dear
Alice,
I’m
sorry
to
hear
that
you
are
nervous
about
reading
a
book
report
in
front
of
my
whole
class.
I
used
to
be
like
this
as
well.
However,
there
are
some
ways
for
me
to
get
over
it.
First,
you
can
practice
reading
the
report
over
and
over
again.
The
more
fluently
you
read,
the
less
nervous
you
will
be.
Second,
before
going
on
the
stage,
you
can
take
a
deep
breath.
Last,
you’d
better
not
think
you
are
nervous,
give
yourself
a
smile
facing
the
mirror.
Hope
my
advice
is
useful
for
you.
Yours,
Han
Mei
