Reading
has
some
little-known
benefits
including
reducing
stress
by
68%—it
even
works
faster
than
listening
to
music,
going
for
a
walk
or
enjoying
a
cup
of
tea.
What's
more,
a
bedtime
story
six
days
a
week
can
put
kids
almost
a
year
ahead
when
they
start
school.
If
those
benefits
aren't
enough
to
persuade
you
to
pick
up
a
book
just
yet,
Australia

has
also
kindly
donated
a

B
Earlier
last
month,
when
a
young
woman
and
a
male
friend
were
meeting
up
at
a
coffee
shop
in
Tianjin,
another
man
tried
to
chat
her
up
and
asked
her
for
her
WeChat
ID.
The
woman
politely
turned
down
the
man's
request
but
a
few
days
later
she
got
to
know
that
a
video
of
her
at
the
coffee
shop
had
been
posted
on
a
short
video-sharing
platform.
The
woman
was
furious
as
the
man
who
had
tried
to
chat
her
up
had
not
told
her
he
was
making
a
video
nor
taken
her
permission
before
uploading
the
video.
She
left
a
comment
under
the
video,
asking
for
its
removal,
and
even
reported
the
matter
to
the
platform's
handlers.
The
account
that
posted
the
video
was
soon
disabled.
However,
this
case
is
far
from
alone.
Websites
dealing
in
short-videos
are
filled
with
accounts
that
post
such
videos
showing“how
to
chat
up
women".
Their
purpose
is
to
post
such
videos
for
money.
Taking
a
video
of
someone
without
their
permission
and
uploading
it
violates
(仗害)
someone's
right
to
privacy,
but
such
videos
are
being
made
and
uploaded
online
with
increasing
frequency.
It
was
only
because
the
woman
in
this
instance
complained
that
the
video
of
her
was
removed.
What
if
her
attention
had
not
been
drawn
to
the
video?
One
just
has
to
browse
these
sites
to
find
many
such
videos.
Obviously,
there
are
loopholes
in
the
supervision
(监管漏洞)
of
some
short-video
platforms,
as
they
are
uploading
contents
that
violate
other
people
's
right
to
privacy.
Women
need
to
watch
out
if
a
stranger
tries
to
chat
them
up.
If
they
suspect
the
person
interacting
with
them
might
have
a
hidden
camera
somewhere,
they
should
consider
calling
the
police
to
better
protect
their
right
to
privacy.
4.
What
is
the
writer's
intention
for
writing
the
first
two
paragraphs?
A.
Warning
women
of
the
possible
harm.
B.
Introducing
the
topic
of
violating
privacy.
C.
Stressing
the
seriousness
of
the
phenomenon.
D.
Commenting
on
the
man's
unacceptable
behavior.
5.
What
is
the
man'
s
most
probable
reason
to
upload
the
video?
A.
To
impress
viewers.
B.
To
earn
money.
C.
To
contact
the
woman.
D.
To
share
the
platform.
6.
What
is
the
main
idea
of
the
paragraph
4?
A.
There
are
more
and
more
privacy-violating
videos
online.
B.
It
is
wrong
to
take
videos
of
people
without
their
knowing.
C.
It
is
of
importance
that
we
protect
our
right
by
complaining.
D.
A
number
of
people
go
to
websites
with
improper
materials.
7.
What
is
the
author's
attitude
to
the
management
of
some
short-video
platforms?
A.
Positive.
B.
Satisfied.
C.
Negative.
D.
Doubtful.

Art
and
science
may
seem
like
opposite
things.
One
means
the
creative
flow
of
ideas,
and
the
other
means
cold,
hard
data-
some
people
believe.
In
fact,
the
two
have
much
in
common.
Now,
a
study
finds
art
can
help
students
remember
better
what
they
learned
in
science
class.
Mariale
Hardiman,
an
education
specialist
at
Johns
Hopkins
University,
noticed
that
students
who
used
art
in
the
classroom
listened
more
carefully.
They
might
ask
more
questions.
They
might
volunteer
more
ideas.
What's
more,
students
seemed
to
remember
more
of
what
they
had
been
taught
when
their
science
lessons
had
involved
art.
To
prove
that,
Hardiman
teamed
up
with
some
researchers
and
six
local
schools.
In
the
experiment,
the
researchers
worked
with
teachers
in
16
fifth-grade
classrooms.
They
provided
traditional
science
lessons
and
art-focused
ones.
In
a
traditional
science
class,
for
example,
students
might
read
aloud
from
a
book.
In
the
art-focused
one,
they
might
sing
the
information
instead.
The
team
randomly
assigned
(随机分配)
each
of
the
350
students
to
either
a
traditional
science
classroom
or
an
art-focused
one.
Students
then
learned
science
using
that
way
for
the
whole
unit-
about
three
weeks.
When
they
changed
to
a
new
topic,
they
also
changed
to
the
other
type
of
class.
This
way,
each
student
had
both
an
art-focused
class
and
a
traditional
one.
Every
unit
was
taught
in
both
ways,
to
different
groups
of
students.
This
enabled
the
researchers
to
see
how
students
did
in
both
types
of
classes.
The
team
found
that
students
who
started
off
in
traditional
classes
performed
better
after
they
moved
into
an
art-focused
class.
But
those
who
started
in
an
art-focused
class
did
well
even
when
they
went
back
to
a
traditional
science
class.
These
students
appeared
to
use
some
of
the
art
techniques
(
技巧)
after
going
back
to
a
traditional
class.
Classroom
teachers
reported
that
many
students
continued
to
sing
the
songs
that
they
learned
after
finishing
the
unit.
"The
more
we
hear
something,
the
more
we
retain
it,"
Hardiman
says.
"It
suggests
that
the
arts
may
help
students
apply
creative
ways
of
learning
on
their
own."
8.
Why
did
Mariale
Hardiman
do
the
study?
A.
To
prove
the
importance
of
art
at
school.
B.
To
see
if
art
might
improve
science
learning.
C.
To
find
a
way
to
help
her
students
learn
better.
D.
To
know
how
to
encourage
students
to
ask
questions.
9.
What
were
the
students
required
to
do
in
the
experiment?
A.
Learn
three
units
in
total.
B.
Take
two
types
of
classes.
C.
Learn
two
topics
for
three
weeks.
D.
Choose
what
they'd
like
to
learn.
10.
What
does
the
underlined
word
"retain"
in
the
last
paragraph
mean?
A.
finish.
B.
express.
C.
improve.
D.
memorize.
11.
What
is
the
text
mainly
about?
A.
Art
helps
students
develop
creativity.
B.
Art-focused
classes
interest
students
a
lot.
C.
Art
can
make
science
easier
to
remember.
D.
Art
has
something
in
common
with
science.

“Who
made
you
T-shirt?"
A
Georgetown
University
student
raised
that
question.
Piertra
Rivoli,
a
professor
of
business,
wanted
to
find
the
answer.
A
few
weeks
later,
she
bought
a
T
shirt
and
began
to
follow
its
path
from
Texas
cotton
farms
to
Chinese
factories
to
charity
bin
(慈善捐赠箱).
The
result
is
an
interesting
new
book,
The
travels
of
a
T-shirt
in
the
Global
Economy.
Following
a
T-shirt
around
the
world
in
a
way
to
make
her
point
more
interesting,
but
it
also
frees
Rivoli
from
the
usual
arguments
over
global
trade.
She
goes,
wherever
the
T-shirt
goes,
and
there
are
surprises
around
every
corner,
In
China,
Rivoli
shows
why
a
clothing
factory,
even
with
its
poor
conditions,
means
a
step
towards
a
better
life
for
the
people
who
work
there.
In
the
colorful
used-clothing
markets
of
Tanzania,
she
realizes
that,
“it
is
only
in
this
final
stage
of
life
that
the
T-shirt
will
meet
a
real
market,"
where
the
price
of
a
shirt
changes
by
the
hour
and
is
different
by
its
size
and
even
color.
Rivoli's
book
is
full
of
memorable
people
and
scenes,
like
the
noise,
the
bad
air
and
the“muddy
sweet
smell
(泥土香味)
of
the
cotton."
She
says,"Here
in
the
factory,
Shanghai
smells
like
Shallowater,
Texas."
Rivoli
is
at
her
best
when
making
those
sorts
of
unexpected
connections.
She
even
finds
one
between
the
free
traders
and
those
who
are
against
globalization.
The
chances
opened
up
by
trade
are
huge,
she
argues,
but
free
markets
need
the
correcting
force
of
politics
to
keep
them
in
check.
True
economic
progress
needs
them
both.
12.
What
do
we
learn
about
Professor
Rivoli?
A.
She
used
to
raise
and
answer
questions.
B.
She
wears
a
T-shirt
wherever
she
goes.
C.
She
is
deeply
interested
in
world
travel.
D.
She
wrote
a
book
about
world
trade.
13.
What
can
you
infer
about
T-shirts
in
Tanzania?
A.
Prices
of
T-shirts
rise
and
fall
frequently.
B.
Used
T-shirts
are
hard
to
sell.
C.
Cheaper
T-shirts
are
needed.
D.
Prices
of
T-shirts
are
usually
reasonable.
14.
What
does
the
word“them"underlined
in
the
last
paragraph
refer
to?
A.
Free
traders.
B.
Free
markets.
C.
Unexpected
connections.
D.
Chances
opened
up
by
trade.
15.
What
would
be
the
best
title
for
the
text?
A.
What
T-shirts
Can
Do
to
Help
Cotton
Farms.
B.
How
Shanghai
Smells
like
Texas.
C.
What
T-shirts
Can
Teach
Us
D.

作文(共25分)
Dear
Sir
or
Madam,
I'm
writing
to
apply
to
be
a
volunteer
for
Beijing
2022
Winter
Olympic
Games.
I'm
convinced
that
I'm
well
qualified
for
the
position.
First,
I
have
a
good
command
of
oral
English,
which
enables
me
to
communicate
with
others
freely.
What's
more,
I
have
some
relevant
work
experience,
working
as
a
volunteer
for
years
at
international
football
and
basketball
games.
I
regard
it
a
great
opportunity
and
a
privilege
to
introduce
China
to
foreign
friends
in
my
own
way.
Any
favorable
consideration
of
my
application
would
be
highly
appreciated.
Looking
forward
to
your
reply.
Yours,
Li
Hua
