Sharon,

??????
The
most
important
thing
to
keep
in
mind
when
going
into
high
school
is
to
be
yourself.
High
school
teachers
will
not
care
about
things
such
as
how
much
homework
you
already
have
in
one
night.
It's
best
to
just
learn
to
organize
your
things
and
manage
your
time
wisely
so
you
can
achieve
everything
you
need
to.
Frank,
Aged
21
??????
I
think
almost
every
kid
feels
both
anxious
and
excited
before
their
first
day.
You
will
probably
love
it.
I
know
I
did.
You
should
join
some
sports
or
activities
that
will
make
your
high
school
experience
more
enjoyable.
Good
luck!
Eddie,
Aged
20
??????
When
I
started
high
school
I
was
really
anxious
too,
especially
since
I
had
been
home-schooled
all
through
middle
school
and
didn't
really
know
anyone.
I
suppose
the
best
advice
would
be
to
just
relax.
The
first
couple
of
days
can
be
a
little
bit
hard,
but
things
will
become
easier
before
you
know
it.
David,
Aged
19
??????
I'm
not
going
to
lie.
The
first
day
is
kind
of
frightening.
But
you'll
get
used
to
it.
Don't
be
afraid
of
anyone;
upperclassmen
will
pick
on
you
more
if
you
let
them
know
you're
afraid.
Just
take
it
easy.
Making
some
friends
and
staying
with
them
will
greatly
help
you
get
used
to
high
school
quickly.
After
the
first
week
it's
really
not
bad
at
all.
Don't
worry.
21.
What
can
we
know
from
Sharon
about
high
school?
A.
Teachers
are
quite
strict.
B.
Students
often
stay
up
at
night.
C.
Teachers
provide
little
care
for
students.
D.
Students
should
make
good
use
of
their
time.

Eddie
feel
on
his
first
day
of
high
school?

Relaxed.

Who
mentions
the
importance
of
friends?
A.
Frank.

??????When
high
school
student
Katie
Shipley
was
born
with
a
serious
brain
disease,
doctors
said
she
wouldn't
live
to
go
to
school.
??????Now,
Katie
is
not
only
about
to
graduate
from
Southridge
High
School
in
Oregon,
but
she
was
also
named
the
school's

her

she

to
make
her
a
queen.
Courtney
found
Michael
Parks,
who
also
thought
it
was
a
great
idea.
???????“I
really
got
to
know
Shipley,”
said
Michael.
“When
you
take
the
time
to
get
to
know
other
people,
it
really
gives
you
a
great
chance
to
live
for
more

took
a
picture
of
the

and
put
it
on
her
Twitter,
explaining
their
plans
for
the
prom.
“It
became
very
popular
in
the
school,”
she
said.
??????Their
efforts
paid
off,
and
Katie
was
very
excited
to
be
named
prom
queen.
On
the
day
of
the
prom,
Katie
wore
a
very
beautiful
dress.
Her
grandmother,
Joan
Fraley,
who
also
went
to
the
prom,
said
the
night
will
stay
with
her
always.
???????“I
was
standing
there
and
the
children
were
shouting
her
name,”
she
said.
“They
called
her
name
as
the
new
prom
queen

I
started
crying.
I'm
greatly
thankful
to
the
students
of
Southridge
High
School.”
??????
Katie
repeated
that
feeling.
???????“I
just
want
to
say
thank
you
to
my
friends
for
all
they
did
for
me.
I
love
you
all.”
Todd
Corsetti,
the
principal
(校长)
at
Southridge
High
School
said
that
seeing
Katie
as
prom
queen
and
the
energy
and
help
of
his
students
is
one
of
his?“proudest
moments.”
???????“I
think
teenagers
have
great
hearts
and
are
really
looking
to
make
the
world
a
better
place,”?Todd
said.?“As
we
finish
our
school
year,
it's
a
great
legacy
(遗产)
to
leave
the
other
classes
who
come
after
them.”

the
world.
C.

D.
They
can
do
much
better
in
the
future.
C
Are
you
afraid
of
going
to
the
dentist(牙医)?If
so,
you’re
not
alone.
These
fears
could
just
be
in
our
heads,
however.
According
to
a
recent
survey
by
Martin
Tickle,
a
professor
at
the
University
of
Manchester
in
the
UK,
the
pain
isn’t
felt
most
of
the
time
in
dental
surgeries(牙科手术).
In
fact,
among
the
451
interviewed
patients,
75%reported
no
pain
at
all
during
their
visits,
including
situations
when
they
had
their
teeth
pulled
out.
Could
it
be
the
sound
of
the
drill(钻头)then?
“I
found
that
the
sound
of
drilling
can
evoke
deep
worry
in
dental
patients.
Actually
they
don’t
have
any
pain,”
Hiroyuki
Karibe,
a
scientist
at
Nippon
Dental
University
in
Tokyo,
told
The
Guardian.
To
find
the
reason
why
a
drill
might
bring
on
a
racing
heart,
Karibe
divided
the
volunteers
into
low-fear
and
high-fear
groups
based
on
how
much
they
feared
a
trip
to
the
dentist.
Volunteers
were
played
the
sound
of
a
drill
while
their
brain
activities
were
watched
by
a
machine.
What
Karibe
found
in
the
low-fear
group
was
increased
activity
in
the
areas
ofthe
brain
relative
to
auditory
processing(听觉处理),
which
means,
for
these
people,
the
sound
of
dental
drills
is
no
different
from
other
sounds.
In
the
high-fear
group,
however,
the
brain
area
that
was
activated(激活)was
different.
It
was
the
area
that
carries
out
a
number
of
duties,
including
learning,
feelings
and,
most
importantly,
memory.
This
means
that
these
volunteers
not
only
heard
the
sound,
but
they
remembered
it——they
made
connections
between
the
sound
of
a
drill
and
the
worry
it
produced
in
the
past,
causing
their
worry
to
return.
Understanding
how
brains
reply
to
the
sounds
of
dentists’
drills
could
help
scientists
find
ways
to
make
patients
more
relaxed,
according
to
Karibe,
because
patients
who
worry
about
going
to
the
dentist
might
keep
putting
off
their
visits.
But
the
best
way
is
to
keep
your
teeth
healthy.
27.How
does
the
writer
explain
that
the
pain
isn’t
felt
most
of
the
time
in
dental
surgeries?
A.By
showing
facts
with
numbers.
B.By
asking
questions
one
by
one.
C.By
giving
examples
group
by
group.
D.By
comparing
results
of
patients.
28.According
to
the
fourth
paragraph,what
does
the
word“evoke”mean
in
Chinese?
A.lessen
B.call
C.show
D.prevent
29.How
did
the
sound
of
drilling
produce
different
results
to
the
volunteers
in
the
study?
A.It
produced
some
worry
in
the
volunteers
in
the
low-fear
group.
B.For
the
low-fear
group,
it
activated
the
brain
area
dealing
with
learning,
feelings
and
memory.
C.For
the
high-fear
group,it
caused
more
activities
in
the
brain
area
relative
to
auditory
processing.
D.It
made
people
in
the
high-fear
group
remember
their
past
uncomfortable
memories.
30.What
is
the
last
paragraph
mainly
about?
A.How
the
study
might
be
useful.
B.Some
new
ways
to
treat
teeth.
C.The
proper
way
to
treat
dental
patients.
D.The
importance
of
keeping
our
teeth
healthy.

根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Do
you
know
that
over
ten
million
American
kids
go
to
camp
every
summer?
31
Back
then,
before
the
air
conditioner
was
invented,
hot
city
summers
were
uncomfortable
and
even
unhealthy
for
children,
So
escaping
to
the
country
for
a
few
weeks
became
a
popular
trend.
Today,
kids
have
different
reasons
for
making
camp
a
part
of
their
lives,
such
as:
To
meet
new
people
Camp
might
give
you
a
chance
to
be
with
people
from
different
states,
or
even
different
countries.
I's
a
great
way
to
make
new
friends
and
learn
about
different
places
and
cultures.
Michiko,
13,put
it
like
this:

I
loved
camp.
I
met
this
girl
named
Manny
who
lives
in
New
York
(I
live
in
New
Jersey)
and
she
is
cool.
32
We
taught
each
other
words.
We
liked
to
swim
in
the
pool
a
lot.
To
challenge
yourself
33
Fresh
challenges---like
trying
new
sports,
learning
new
crafts
and
games,
or
pushing
yourself
to
achieve
something---can
be
very
rewarding.
Take
it
from
Arabella
who
told
us:
“I
went
to
summer
camp
and
I
passed
my
swimming
test!
I
can
hardly
swim,
so
it
was
a
big
accomplishment.
34

To
appreciate
nature
There's
a
great
big
natural
world
out
there,
and
going
to
camp
helps
you
learn
how
beautiful
and
important
it
really
is.
35
Getting
out
into
the
woods
or
mountains
can
give
you
a
better
understanding
of
how
the
web
of
life
works.
A.
Not
all
the
things
that
kids
do
at
camp
are
easy.
B.
She
speaks
Spanish
and
I
speak
Japanese.
C.
I
felt
great
afterwards.
D.
It's
also
a
great
way
to
learn
about
teamwork
and
tolerance(包容).
E.
Summer
camp
has
been
a
U.
S.
tradition
for
over
150
years.
F.
When
you
get
right
down
to
it,
going
to
camp
is
all
about
having
a
good
time.
Without
trees,
soil,
water,
and
wildlife,
the
Earth
couldn't
survive.

The
moon
had
gone
behind
a
cloud
and
there
weren’t
many
stars
in
the
sky.
As
I
took
a
glance(一瞥)
at
my
neighbor’s
house,
I
saw
a
flame
(火焰)
in
his
36
.
I
thought
he
was
having
a
midnight
fast
food
so
I
went
back
to
my
37
.
Soon,
there
was
a
38
smell
in
the
air
and
I
guessed
something
was
wrong.
39
,
I
jumped
out
of
bed
and
went
downstairs
to
40
.
I
saw
fire
coming
out
of
my
neighbor’s
kitchen.
Right
away,
I
41
“Fire!
Fire!”
But
there
was
no
one
nearby
to
42
my
shouts
for
help.
I
43
into
my
house,
called
the
Fire
Department
and
went
back
to
my
neighbor’s
house.
I
rang
the
doorbell,
hit
on
the
door
and
44
my
neighbor’s
name
but
there
was
no
45
.
I
managed
to
46
the
house
and
rescued
a
cat
and
a
rabbit.
I
tried
to
throw
water
through
the
kitchen
window
47
it
was
no
use;
the
fire
was
too
strong.
48
a
fire
engine
arrived
and
soon
the
firemen
put
out
the
fire.
They
arrived
just
49
as
the
fire
was
going
to
50
to
the
other
rooms
in
the
house.
When
my
neighbor
came
back,
he
was
51
because
his
kitchen
was
burnt
down,
but
he
thanked
me
for
calling
the
Fire
Department
and
for
saving
his
52
.
He
wanted
to
give
me
some
money
in
return
but
I
did
not
53
it.
Weeks
later,
my
neighbor
repaired
and

第二节
读后续写(满分25分)
阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
???
Jack,
a
clerk
at
the
local
bank,
was
wandering
alone
on
the
street.
It
was
a
cold,
silent
winter
night.
His
mind
was
on
his
wife
Linda,
who
had
been
in
a
car
accident
two
months
ago
and
was
now
lying
in
a
hospital
bed,
waiting
for
more
money
for
her
operation.
Jack
had
sold
everything
he
had,
and
he
had
tried
his
best
to
borrow
money
from
all
the
people
and
banks
he
could.
But
the
real
world
is
cruel.
A
large
amount
of
money
was
still
needed.
To
Jack,
it
would
mean
a
great
deal
of
suffering
to
see
his
wife
die
without
any
help.
“I
have
only
one
option
left,”
Jack
said
to
himself.
Then
he
went
the
bank,
his
workplace,
again.
For
several
days,
he
observed
the
bank
and
planned
a
theft.
???
The
next
day,
he
went
to
work
as
usual.
Everything
seemed
normal:
he
joked
with
his
workmates
and
helped
his
clients
as
he
always
did.
But
no
one
noticed
that
he
had
brought
a
bigger
suitcase
to
work,
instead
of
the
small
one
he
always
carried.
At
5:00
pm,
the
bank
closed,
and
the
clerks
and
the
guards
had
all
gone
home.
However,
at
that
moment,
Jack
was
in
the
bathroom,
He
first
cut
the
lines
of
the
alarms
and
monitors
with
tools
from
his
new
suitcase.
He
was
all
too
familiar
with
the
equipment
since
he
had
been
working
there
for
8
years
and
had
been
studying
the
security
system
for
the
past
30
days.
Using
a
special
key
and
some
other
tools,
he
then
easily
opened
the
doors
of
the
safes,
The
bank's
security
system
wasn't
very
good,
which
allowed
Jack
to
take
a
lot
of
money.
Several
minutes
later,
Jack
left
the
bank
with
a
heavy
bag
filled
with
money.
