B
At
thirteen,
I
was
diagnosed(诊断)
with
a
kind
of
attention
disorder.
It
made
school
difficult
for
me.
When
everyone
else
in
the
class
was
focusing
on
tasks,
I
could
not.
In
my
first
literature
class,
Mr.
Smith
asked
us
to
read
a
story
and
then
write
on
it,
all
within
45
minutes.
I
raised
my
hand
right
away
and
said,
“Mr.
Smith,
you
see,
the
doctor
said
I
have
attention
problems.
I
might
not
be
able
to
do
it.”
He
glanced
down
at
me
through
his
glasses,
“you
are
no
different
from
your
classmates,
young
man.”
I
tried,
but
I
didn’t
finish
the
reading
when
the
bell
rang.
I
had
to
take
it
home.
In
the
quietness
of
my
bedroom,
the
story
suddenly
all
became
clear
to
me.
It
was
about
a
blind
person,
Louis
Braille.
He
lived
in
a
time
when
the
blind
couldn’t
get
much
education.
But
Louis
didn’t
give
up.
Instead,
he
invented
a
reading
system
of
raised
dots(点),
which
opened
up
a
whole
new
world
of
knowledge
to
the
blind.
Wasn’t
I
the
“blind”
in
my
class,
being
made
to
learn
like
the
“sighted”
students?
My
thoughts
spilled
out
and
my
pen
started
to
dance.
I
completed
the
task
within
40
minutes.
Indeed,
I
was
no
different
from
others;
I
just
needed
a
quieter
place.
If
Louis
could
find
his
way
out
of
his
problems,
why
should
I
ever
give
up?
I
didn’t
expect
anything
when
I
handed
in
my
paper
to
Mr.
Smith,
so
it
was
quite
a
surprise
when
it
came
back
to
me
the
next
day
---with
an
“A”
on
it.
At
the
bottom
of
the
paper
were
these
words:
“See
what
you
can
do
when
you
keep
trying.”
24.
The
author
didn’t
finish
the
reading
in
class
because
__________.
A.
he
was
new
to
the
class
B.
he
was
tired
of
literature
C.
he
had
an
attention
disorder
D.
he
wanted
to
take
the
task
home
25.
What
do
we
know
about
Louis
Braille
from
the
passage?
A.
He
had
good
sight.
B.
He
made
a
great
invention.
C.
He
gave
up
reading.
D.
He
learned
a
lot
from
school.
26.
What
was
Mr.
Smith’s
attitude
to
the
author
at
the
end
of
the
story?
A.
Indifferent.
B.
Impatient.
C.
Cautious.
D.
Encouraging.
27.
What
is
the
main
idea
of
the
passage?
A.
The
disabled
should
be
treated
with
respect.
B.
A
teacher
can
open
up
a
new
world
to
students.
C.
One
can
find
his
way
out
of
difficulties
with
efforts.
D.
Everyone
needs
a
hand
when
faced
with
challenges.
C
No
matter
what
type
of
store
you
walk
into---
from
the
Apple
store
to
Wal-Mart---you
will
immediately
buy
many
products.
There
is
only
one
objective
for
stores:
to
make
you
spend
more.
In
fact
stores
are
carefully
organized
in
ways
you
may
never
notice.
Color
has
a
big
influence
on
our
shopping
choices.
Each
color
stands
for
a
feeling,
and
salesmen
use
that
to
their
advantage.
Red
is
almost
always
the
color
linked
with
sales
because
it
encourages
people
to
take
action.
Studies
have
shown
that
salesmen
who
wear
red
may
get
bigger
tips,
and
red
even
makes
us
spend
more
online.
Besides
color,
salesmen
also
create
simple
roadblocks
to
lead
your
directions
when
you
are
shopping.
For
example,
people
often
go
to
a
grocery
store
just
to
pick
up
a
single
item
like
milk,
but
milk
is
at
the
back
of
the
store.
You
are
forced
to
walk
through
and
see
everything
before
getting
the
item
you
want.
It
is
likely
that
you
will
take
another
item
or
two,
unless
you
put
blinders
(眼罩)
on
when
you
are
walking
through.
Stores
like
Apple
and
Ikea,
a
furniture
store,
also
want
to
create
a
lifestyle
image.
A
lot
of
this
is
about
a
brand
image.
It’s
to
get
you
to
feel
in
a
particular
way.
People
can
see
themselves
living
in
this
lifestyle.
That
causes
them
to
want
to
buy
those
things---that’s
why
Ikea
sets
up
those
rooms---you
go
to
buy
a
lamp,
and
suddenly
you
want
to
buy
that
sofa
too.
We
already
know
plenty
about
how
advertising
influences
us,
and
we
have
made
out
lots
of
ways
to
save
money
in
the
past,
but
the
fact
of
the
matter
is
that
stores
are
always
looking
for
new
ways
to
sell
you
stuff
and
get
you
to
spend
more.
It’s
not
always
a
bad
thing,
but
all
these
cues(暗示)
are
worth
paying
attention
to
when
you
are
shopping.
If
you
know
about
them,
you
can
take
steps
to
avoid
their
influences.

in
the
store.
C.

of

is
the
most
popular
color
among
the

30.
Why
does
Ikea
create
a
lifestyle
image?
A.
To
help
people
find
products
easily.
B.
To
make
people
want
to
buy
more.
C.
To
show
its
brand
influence
D.
To
show
how
successful
it
is.
31.
What
does
the
author
advise
us
to
do?
A.
Find
new
ways
to
save
money.
B.
Buy
goods
based
on
advertisements.
C.
Do
shopping
less
frequently
in
stores.
D.
Avoid
being
affected
by
stores’
design.
D
There
is
an
English
saying
that
says,
“Let
Sleeping
Dogs
Lie.”
It
means
not
bringing
up
an
old
problem.
Researchers
in
Hungary
have
found
another
reason
to
let
dogs
keep
on
sleeping.
It
seems
the
animals
are
learning
while
they
sleep.
The
Hungarian
researchers
placed
tools
on
the
dogs’
heads
to
know
about
electrical
activity
in
the
brain.
The
brain
activity,
called
sleep
spindles(梭状波),
takes
place
in
human
beings,
and
has
been
connected
with
learning.
The
researchers
hope
to
understand
how
the
dogs’
ability
to
learn
and
remember
changes
as
they
get
older.
The
study
may
help
them
understand
how
human
brains
change
as
we
age.
The
researchers
found
differences
between
male
and
female
dogs.
Iotchey,
a
researcher,
says
the
females
appeared
much
better
at
learning
new
things.
Female
dogs
have
about
twice
as
many
spindles
per
minute
as
male
dogs,
they
also
happen
to
be
the
better
learners,
and
they
memorize
the
task
much
better.
But
it
was
harder
for
all
the
older
dogs
to
remember
things,
especially
when
several
things
were
happening
at
the
same
time.
DóraSzabó
also
studies
sleep
spindles.
Szabó
is
a
neuroscientist
in
a
university
in
Budapest.
She
says
the
older
dogs
have
fewer
spindles
and
are
easily
cheated.
“If
you
first
hide
the
reward
into
one
bowl,
then
in
another
and
in
another,
they
get
lost
after
a
while.
So
their
performance
is
going
down,
and
they
are
getting
poor
in
solving
new
problems.”
Researchers
hope
the
study
will
not
only
help
understanding
of
learning
ability
and
memory
changes
in
dogs,
but
also
the
aging
of
humans.
Senior
Researcher
EnikóKubinyi
adds
that
the
aging
dogs
suffer
from
the
same
problems
as
humans
who
are
aging.
“Among
very
old
dogs,
up
to
two
thirds
of
them
show
signs
of
dementia(痴呆),
and
this
dementia
is
really
very
similar
to
that
of
humans,
so
we
could
use
dogs
as
a
natural
model
of
human
aging.”
32.Why

researchers
study
dogs’
sleep?
A.To
help
the
dogs
sleep
well.

study
dogs’
sleeping
activity.

control
dogs’
learning
ability.

know
more
about
human
brains.
33.What
is
the
relationship
between
the
number
of
sleep
spindles
and
dogs’
learning
ability?
A.They
have
nothing
to
do
with
each
other.
B.
Dogs
with
less
spindles
have
better
learning
ability.
C.
Dogs
with
more
spindles
have
better
learning
ability.
D.
Dogs’
learning
ability
is
totally
decided
by
spindle
number.
34.

(共两节,满分45分)
第一节(共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分)
阅读下面短文,掌握其大意,然后从A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。
No
one
is
born
a
winner.
People
make
themselves
into
winners
by
their
own
41
.
I
learned
this
lesson
from
a(n)
42
many
years
ago.
I
took
the
head
43
job
at
a
school
in
Baxley,
Georgia.
It
was
a
small
school
with
a
weak
football
program.
It
was
a
tradition
for
the
school’s
old
team
to
play
against
the
44
team
at
the
end
of
spring
practice.
The
old
team
had
no
coach,
and
they
didn’t
even
practice
to
45
the
game.
Being
the
coach
of
the
new
team,
I
was
excited
because
I
knew
we
were
going
to
win,
but
to
my
disappointment
we
were
defeated.
I
couldn’t
46
I
had
got
into
such
a
situation.
Thinking
hard
about
it,
I
came
to
47
that
my
team
might
not
be
the
number
one
team
in
Georgia,
but
they
were
48
me.
I
had
to
change
my
49
about
their
ability
and
potential.
I
started
doing
anything
I
could
to
help
them
build
a
little
50
.
Most
importantly,
I
began
to
treat
them
like
51
.
That
summer,
When
the
other
teams
enjoyed
their
52
,we
met
every
day
and
53
passing
and
kicking
the
football.
Six
months
after
suffering
our
54
on
the
spring
practice
field,
we
won
our
first
game
and
our
second,
and
continued
to
55
.
Finally,
we
faced
the
number
one
team
in
the
state.
I
felt
that
it
would
be
a
56
for
us
even
if
we
lost
the
game.
But
that
wasn’t
what
happened.
My
boys
beat
the
best
team
in
Georgia,
giving
me
one
of
the
greatest
57
of
my
life!
From
the
experience
I
learnt
a
lot
about
how
the
attitude
of
the
leader
can
58
the
members
of
a
team.
Instead
of
seeing
my
boys
as
losers,
I
pushed
and
59
them.
I
helped
them
to
see
themselves
60
,
and
they
built
themselves
into
winners.
Winners
are
made,
but
born.
