阅读(共两节,满分50分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
Wildlife
faces
threats(威胁)
from
habitat
destruction,
pollution,
and
other
human
actions.
Although
protecting
wildlife
may
seem
too
hard
at
times,
even
small
actions
in
your
own
neighborhood
can
help
protect
many
different
animals.
Here
are
some
tips
on
how
to
protect
wildlife
through
small
actions.

Create
wildlife
friendly
areas
in
your
backyard.
When
trying
to
make
your
garden
more
beautiful,
you
can
choose
plants
that
can
provide
food
and
shelter
to
native
wildlife.
This
will
also
help
cut
down
on
pollution.

Avoid
harming
the
natural
ecosystem(生态系统)
in
your
area.
Some
plants
from
other
places
can
kill
or
harm
native
plants
that
provide
food
and
shelter
for
wildlife.

Have
a
greener
lifestyle.
By
using
less
water
and
fewer
fuels,
you
will
be
helping
to
protect
the
wildlife
around
you.
Take
buses
or
the
subway
when
you
can,
turn
off
electric
devices
when
you’re
not
using
them,
take
shorter
showers,
and
keep
your
room
temperature
at
or
below
68
Fahrenheit
degrees
during
the
winter.

Buy
products
that
are
wildlife
friendly.
Don’t
buy
products
that
are
made
from
endangered
animals.
Keep
in
mind
that
some
endangered
animals
are
killed
by
traps
or
hunters
who
are
after
other
wildlife
within
the
same
habitat.

Donate
money
or
time
to
organizations
that
protect
wildlife
and
their
habitats.
You
can
give
money
to
organizations
or
groups
that
protect
wildlife
species
in
your
neighborhood.
21.
We
infer
that
the
purpose
of
this
passage
is
to
________.
A.
tell
us
why
protecting
wildlife
is
extremely
important
now
B.
suggest
that
we
protect
wildlife
through
actions
C.
explain
why
protecting
wildlife
is
not
as
hard
as
people
think
D.
give
us
some
tips
on
how
to

disagree
with?
A.
Planting
right
trees
in
gardens.
B.
Buying
an
ivory
vase
for
a
gift.
C.
Donating
some
money
to
WWF.
D.
Reading
books
about
wildlife.
B
One
night,
Pilar
was
in
a
deep
sleep
when
she
was
woken
by
her
cat
Inti.
Inti
was
meowing
wildly
outside
Pilar’s
bedroom
and
throwing
himself
against
the
closed
bedroom
door.
When
Pilar
opened
her
eyes,
she
saw
that
her
bedroom
was
filled
with
smoke.
As
she
escaped
her
house
with
Inti
in
her
arms,
she
saw
that
a
fire
was
burning
in
her
kitchen.
Pilar
could
easily
have
lost
her
life,
but
Inti
would
not
let
that
happen.
Even
though
Inti
could
have
escaped
the
house
through
a
cat
door,
he
wouldn’t
leave
Pilar.
As
amazing
as
this
story
is,
it
is
not
as
uncommon
as
you
may
think.
Take
the
example
of
Charlotte
Lee
and
her
horse,
Thunder.
One
summer
night,
the
whole
family
was
asleep
with
the
windows
open.
It
was
normally
very
quiet
where
they
lived.
Suddenly,
there
was
a
loud
noise.
Charlotte
woke
up
from
her
sweet
dream,
and
the
noise
continued.
Then
she
heard
a
horse
running
fast
towards
the
house.
The
next
thing
she
saw
was
Thunder
standing
outside
her
window,
neighing
and
shaking
his
head.
She
knew
something
was
wrong.
Charlotte
quickly
got
everyone
out
of
the
house
before
the
earthquake
hit.
Thunder
has
saved
her
life.
There
are
also
stories
of
wild
animals
coming
to
the
rescue
of
humans.
One
animal
known
to
be
a
friend
of
humans
is
the
dolphin.
Once,
Todd
Endris
was
surfing
with
his
friends
when
he
was
attacked
by
a
13?foot
(4?meter)
shark.
In
the
middle
of
the
attack,
a
group
of
dolphins
came
to
his
rescue
by
forming
a
protective
ring
around
Endris
until
he
could
get
safely
to
shore.
Without
the
help
of
the
dolphins,
there
is
little
chance
that
Todd
could
have
escaped.
No
one
is
sure
why
animals
have
so
often
come
to
our
rescue.
However,
it
is
clear
that
humans
and
animals
enjoy
a
close
relationship.
It
is
important
that
we
care
for
them
as
much
as
we
can.
24.
Why
did
Inti
throw
himself
against
the
door?
A.
He
was
trying
to
wake
up
his
owner.
B.
He
wanted
to
get
out
of
the
room.
C.
He
felt
bored
and
was
playing
by
himself.
D.
He
couldn’t
find
the
way
out
because
of
smoke.
25.
What
did
Charlotte
do
before
the
earthquake?
A.
She
closed
the
windows.
B.
She
was
sleeping
deeply.
C.
She
ran
to
warn
her
neighbors.
D.
She
got
her
horse
out
of
the
stable.
26.
What
do
we
know
about
Inti
and
Thunder?
A.
They
were
shy
and
quiet.
B.
They
used
to
make
noise
at
night.
C.
They
were
brave
and
smart.
D.
They
saved
their
owners
several
times.
27.
Which
of
the
following
is
probably
Todd’s
feeling
towards
the
dolphins?
A.
Doubtful.
B.
Grateful.
C.
Frightened.
D.
Bored.
C
People
from
East
Asia
tend
to
have
more
difficulty
than
those
from
Europe
in
distinguishing
facial
expressions—and
a
new
report
published
online
in
Current
Biology
explains
why.
Rachael
Jack,
University
of
Glasgow
researcher,
said
that
rather
than
scanning
evenly(均匀的)
across
a
face
as
Westerners
do,
Easterners
fix
their
attention
on
the
eyes.
“We
show
that
Easterners
and
Westerners
look
at
different
face
features
to
read
facial
expressions,”
Jack
said.
“Westerners
look
at
the
eyes
and
the
mouth
in
equal
measure,
whereas
Easterners
favor
the
eyes
and
neglect(忽略)
the
mouth.”
According
to
Jack
and
her
colleagues,
the
discovery
shows
that
human
communication
of
emotion
is
more
complex
than
previously
believed.
As
a
result,
facial
expressions
that
had
been
considered
universally
recognizable
cannot
be
used
to
reliably
convey
emotion
in
cross?cultural
situations.
The
researchers
studied
cultural
differences
in
the
recognition
of
facial
expressions
by
recording
the
eye
movements
of
13
Western
Caucasian
and
13
East
Asian
people
while
they
observed
pictures
of
expressive
faces
and
put
them
into
categories:
happy,
sad,
surprised,
fearful,
disgusted,
angry,
or
neutral.
They
compared
how
accurately
participants
read
those
facial
expressions
using
their
particular
eye
movement
strategies.
It
turned
out
that
Easterners
focused
much
greater
attention
on
the
eyes
and
made
significantly
more
errors
than
Westerners
did.
“The
cultural
difference
in
eye
movements
that
they
show
is
probably
a
reflection
of
cultural
difference
in
facial
expressions,”
Jack
said.
“Our
data
suggest
that
whereas
Westerners
use
the
whole
face
to
convey
emotion,
Easterners
use
the
eyes
more
and
mouth
less.”
In
short,
the
data
show
that
facial
expressions
are
not
universal
signals
of
human
emotion.
From
here
on,
examining
how
cultural
factors
have
diversified
these
basic
social
skills
will
help
our
understanding
of
human
emotion.
Otherwise,
when
it
comes
to
communicating
emotions
across
cultures,
Easterners
and
Westerners
will
find
themselves
lost
in
translation.
28.
The
discovery
shows
that
Westerners
________.
A.
pay
equal
attention
to
the
eyes
and
the
mouth
B.
consider
facial
expressions
universally
reliable
C.
observe
the
eyes
and
the
mouth
in
different
ways
D.
have
more
difficulty
in
recognizing
facial
expressions
29.
What
were
the
people
asked
to
do
in
the
study?
A.
To
make
a
face
at
each
other.
B.
To
get
their
faces
impressive.
C.
To
classify
some
face
pictures.
D.
To
observe
the
researchers’
faces.
30.
What
does
the
underlined
word
“they”
in
Paragraph
6
refer
to?
A.
The
participants
in
the
study.
B.
The
researchers
of
the
study.
C.

errors
made
during
the
study.
D.
The
data
collected
from
the
study.

Are
you
preparing
for
a
big
test?
If
so,
you
may
want
to
go
playing
some
basketball
in
between
hitting
the
books.
Doctors
are
starting
to
find
more
and
more
information
that
suggests
a
connection
between
exercise
and
brain
development.
Judy
Cameron,
a
scientist
at
Oregon
Health
and
Science
University,
studies
brain
development.
According
to
her
research,
it
seems
that
exercise
can
make
blood
vessels(血管),
including
those
in
the
brain,
stronger
and
more
fully
developed.
Dr
Cameron
is
sure
that
this
allows
people
who
exercise
to
think
better.
As
she
says,
“while
we
already
know
that
exercise
is
good
for
the
heart,
exercise
can
actually
cause
physical
changes
in
the
brain.”
The
effects
of
exercise
on
brain
development
can
even
be
seen
in
babies.
Babies
who
do
activities
that
require
a
lot
of
movement
and
physical
activity
show
greater
brain
development
than
babies
who
are
less
physically
active.
Even
a
little
movement
can
show
big
results.
Margaret
Barnes,
a
scientist,
also
believes
in
the
importance
of
exercise.
She
thinks
that
many
learning
disabilities
that
children
have
in
primary
school
or
high
school
can
result
from
a
lack
of
movement
as
babies.
“Babies
need
movement
that
encourages
and
excites
their
five
senses.
They
need
to
set
up
a
connection
between
motion
and
memory.
In
this
way,
as
they
get
older,
children
will
begin
to
connect
physical
activity
with
higher
learning,”
says
Margaret.
Older
people
can
develop
their
brains
as
well.
Cornell
University
studied
a
group
of
seniors
who
have
a
short?term
memory
increase
of
up
to
40
percent
after
exercising
just
three
hours
a
week.
The
exercise
does
not
have
to
be
very
difficult,
but
it
does
have
to
increase
the
heart
rate.
Also,
just
like
the
motion
for
babies,
exercise
for
older
people
should
not
be
too
simple.
Learning
some
new
skills
or
actions,
such
as
with
yoga
or
tai?chi
helps
to
open
up
memory
paths
in
the
brain
that
may
not
have
been
used
for
a
long
time.
For
most
people,
any
type
of
physical
activity
that
increases
the
heart
rate
is
helpful.
The
main
aim
is
to
increase
the
brain’s
flow
of
blood.
And
your
brain
can
benefit
from
as
little
as
two
to
three
hours
of
exercise
a
week.
32.
What
is
the
connection
between
exercise
and
brain
development?
A.
Exercise
helps
make
our
blood
vessels.
B.
Physical
exercise
helps
us
think
better.
C.
Exercise
prevents
us
having
brain
diseases.
D.
More
physical
exercises
our
brains.
33.
How
can
exercise
affect
babies?
A.
Whether
they
are
excited
or
not
depends
on
movements.
B.
A
lack
of
movement
results
from
their
learning
disabilities.
C.
The
more
frequently
they
move,
the
cleverer
they
become.
D.
The
more
activities
they
do,
the
greater
their
brains
develop.
34.
Why
is
yoga
suggested
for
seniors?
A.
It
helps
them
memorise
quicker.
B.
It
decreases
the
heart
rate.
C.
It
includes
learning
new
actions.
D.
It
can
be
done
in
groups.
35.
What
is
the
smallest
amount
of
exercise
required
to
gain
any
benefit?
A.
3
hours
per
week.
B.
4.2
hours
per
week.
C.
1
hour
per
day.
D.
40
hours
per
month.

Are
you
a
happy
person
or
an
unhappy
person?
If
you’re
an
unhappy
person,
please
remember
that
happiness
is
a
choice.
36
What
you
need
to
do
is
to
make
some
changes.
Unhappy
people
are
more
likely
to
believe
that
life
is
hard.
They
see
themselves
as
victims
of
life
when
something
bad
happens
to
them.
Yes,
as
is
known
to
all,
life
can
be
hard.
37
Unhappy
people
are
more
likely
to
believe
that
most
people
can’t
be
trusted.
They
don’t
think
strangers
can
be
trusted.
Unfortunately,
this
thought
slowly
starts
to
prevent
them
from
meeting
new
people.
38
In
this
way,
you
can
make
more
friends,
who
can
increase
your
happiness.
Unhappy
people
like
comparing
themselves
with
others
and
feel
jealous.

This

Instead
you
should

inspired
and
try
to

more,
Learn
to

Don’t
get
upset
and

that
somebody’s

life.
Unhappy
people

their

Unhappy
people
fill
the
head
space
with
worry
and
fear.
How
can
you
be
happy
if
you
are
always
in
worry
or
fear?
When
worry
or
fear
crosses
your
mind,
ask
yourself
if
there
is
an
action
you
can
take
to
prevent
your
fear
or
worry
from
happening.
If
there
isn’t,
just
lay
it
down
because
worry
or
fear
does
you
no
good
at
all.
Everyone
will
probably
swim
in
negative
waters
once
in
a
while,
but
what
matters
is
how
long
you
stay
there.
Follow
the
ways
mentioned
above
and
then
you
will
be
much
happier.
A.
You
can
choose
to
be
happy.
B.
Unhappiness
is
also
a
choice.
C.
There
is
only
so
much
space
between
your
ears.
D.
They
believe
that
someone

their
own.
E.
You
should
try
to
be
kind
to
others
in
order
to
make
more
friends.
F.
But
you
should
have
a
positive
attitude
towards
life
instead
of
complaining
all
the
time.
G.
Instead,
you
should
believe
in
the
good
in
people
and
stay
open

towards
those
you
meet.

读后续写(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
It
was
one
of
the
hottest
days
of
the
dry
season.
We
had
not
seen
rain
in
almost
a
month.
The
crops
were
dying.
Cows
had
stopped
giving
milk.
The
streams
were
long
gone
back
into
the
earth.
If
we
didn’t
see
some
rain
soon
we
would
lose
everything.
It
was
on
this
day
that
I
learned
the
true
lesson
of
sharing
and
witnessed
the
best
miracle
I
have
ever
seen
in
my
life.
I
was
in
the
kitchen
making
lunch
for
the
family
when
I
saw
my
six?year?old
son,
Billy,
walking
toward
the
woods.
I
could
only
see
his
back.
He
wasn’t
walking
with
his
usual
steps.
He
was
obviously
walking
with
great
effort...
trying
to
be
as
still
as
possible.
Minutes
after
he
disappeared
into
the
woods,
he
came
running
out
again,
toward
the
house.
I
went
back
to
make
sandwiches,
thinking
that
whatever
he
had
been
doing
was
completed.
Moments
later,
however,
he
was
once
again
walking
in
that
slow
purposeful
long
step
toward
the
woods.
This
activity
went
on
for
over
an
hour:
walking
cautiously
to
the
woods,
then
running
back
to
the
house.
Finally,
my
curiosity
got
the
best
of
me.
I
crept
out
of
the
house
and
followed
him
on
his
journey.
He
was
cupping
both
hands
in
front
of
him
as
he
walked;
being
very
careful
not
to
spill(溅出)
the
water
he
held
in
them.
I
stepped
close
as
he
went
into
the
woods.
Branches
and
thorns
slapped
his
little
face
but
he
did
not
try
to
avoid
them.
He
might
have
a
much
greater
purpose,
I
thought.
As
I
came
closer,
I
saw
the
most
amazing
sight.
Several
large
deer
stood
in
front
of
him.
Billy
walked
right
up
to
them,
at
the
sight
of
which
I
almost
screamed
for
him
to
get
away.
A
huge
buck(雄鹿)
was
dangerously
close.
But
the
buck
neither
threatened
him
nor
even
moved
as
Billy
knelt
down.
And
I
saw
a
baby
deer
lying
on
the
ground,
obviously
suffering
from
heavy
loss
of
water
and
heat
exhaustion,
lifting
its
head
with
great
effort
to
lap(舔)
up
the
water
cupped
in
my
boy’s
hands.
注意:1.
续写词数应为150左右;
2.
请按如下格式作答。
When
the
water
was
gone,
Billy
jumped
up
to
run
back
to
the
house.
I
followed
him

how
to

It’s
July

I
thought
Jim
was
supposed
to
come
back
today.
Why
isn’t
he
here
yet?
W:
Oh,
he
decided
to
put
off
his
return
date.
He’ll
be
back
the
day
after
tomorrow.

M:
Hi,
Laura.
Could
you
translate
this
report
for
me?
The
manager
needs
it
by
4
pm,
but
I
have
to
attend
a
meeting
now.
W:
All
right.
I’ll
do
it
right
away.

W:
I
was
supposed
to
hand
in
my
paper
today.
My
teacher
gave
us
a
task
to
research
and
write
about
unusual
animals.
I
was
supposed
to
write
about
the
golden
monkey
and
the
panda.
M:
So
did
you
get
it
done?
W:
Not
really.
I
only
wrote
a
little
about
the
panda.

M:

I’ve
just
finished
painting

W:
What
color
this

Kathy?
Green?
M:
I
painted
it
blue.
W:
Oh
well,
that’s
nicer
than
before.
I
dislike
those
pink
walls.

W:
Sam,
your
English
is
very
good.
How
long
have
you
learned
it?
M:
I
began
to
learn
it
when
I
was
fifteen
years
old.
W:
That’s
hard
to
believe.
You’ve
learned
it
for
only
three
years
and
you
can
speak
it
so
well
now.
So
how
do
you
usually
learn
it?
M:
I
have
an
old
video
recorder
and
I
used
to
record
movies
and
other
TV
shows.
Then
I
watched
them
later.
But
now
I
like
reading
Harry
Potter
books.
It’s
a
very
successful
method
for
me.

M:
Sophie!
Did
you
see
that
show
last
night,
the
one
presented
by
Frank
Jones?
W:
No.
Was
it
any
good?
M:
It
was
great.
Frank
Jones
always
makes
me
laugh.
W:
I
think
he
should
be
more
serious.
All
the
questions
are
really
easy,
and
just
about
pop
music
or
movie
stars
I’m
not
interested
in.
M:
Actually,
they
start
off
a
bit
easy
but
they
get
harder
and
harder
as
the
show
goes
on.
W:
Usually
I’m
not
bad
at
general
knowledge
questions

especially
ones
about
history
or
geography.
M:
Yeah,
you’re
good
at
those
subjects,
but
I’m
better
at
math
and
science.

W:
Hello,
Children’s
Fun
Club.
M:
Oh,
hello!
My
name’s
Paul.
Could
you
tell
me
where
your
offices
are?
W:
Our
offices
are
in
England,
but
we
have
members
in
other
countries.
M:
What’s
the
club
about?
W:
We
want
to
help
children
get
better
at
school,
mainly
in
reading
and
writing.
M:
What
do
you
send
to
the
members?
W:
This
month,
it’s
a
magazine
about
films
and
videos.
A
month
ago
everyone
got
a
red
pen.
It’s
always
something
different.
M:
How
nice.
Are
there
any
competitions?
W:
Yes.
M:
Are
they
every
month
too?
W:
Just
once
a
year,
and
this
year’s
competition
is
next
week!
M:
Great!
And
how
much
does
it
cost?
W:
For
twelve
months
it’s
six
pounds.
So
for
six
months
it’s
half?price.
M:
OK,
thanks.

W:
Hi!
I
know
you
were
really
worried
about
your
first
night.
How
did
it
go?
M:
You
weren’t
there?
I
thought
you
were
coming
with
Peter.
W:
No.
Thursdays

school
is
Arts

and
it
finished
really
late
yesterday.
M:
Actually,
it’s
probably
a
good
thing
you
didn’t
come
last
night

so
many
things
went
wrong!
W:
First
nights
are
always
like
that!
I
remember
when
I
was
in
a
play
in
my
second
year.
We
all
forgot
our
lines
and
one
student
was
so
nervous
she
couldn’t
continue
with
the
play.
M:
Surprisingly,
I
didn’t
forget
my
words,
but
Harry
did.
W:
So,
what
happened?
M:
Well,
luckily
I
knew
his
lines
too,
so
I
told
him
very
quietly.
But
that
wasn’t
the
only
thing.
Mark
fell
over
a
chair.
It
was
supposed
to
be
a
sad
bit!
Oh,
and
you
won’t
believe
this

the
lights
all
went
off
at
the
end
of
the
play.
It
was
so
funny

we
had
to
act
in
darkness.
In
fact,
Fred
turned
off
the
wrong
lights.
Our
teacher
Mr.
Tim
was
very
angry!
W:
I’m
not
surprised!

And
of

Michael
Jackson
was
on
the
road
of
performing
when
he
was
five
years
old.
As
is
known
to
all,
the
road
to
fame
and
fortune
is
a
long,
hard
one.
Michael
remembered
those
early
years
when
he
was
young.
“My
father
was
a
machine
operator,”
he
explained,
“and
he
worked
at
a
steel
plant.
My
mother
worked
at
Sears,
a
big
department
store.
But
they
were
both
musicians.”
Michael’s
father
Joe
Jackson
realized
his
sons
had
a
lot
of
talent,
and
he
knew
he
could
train
them
to
become
fine
musicians.
In
those
days
there
were
plenty
of
music
groups
and
some
of
them
were
very
good.
He
knew
if
his
sons
were
to
stand
out,
they
would
have
to
be
the
best.
Practice
makes
perfect.
And
they
practised!
Gradually
the
group
took
shape.
Then
word
of
this
group
began
to
get
around.
Thus
Michael
got
a
chance
to
do
some
solo(独唱)
songs.
In
the
following
years,
Michael
was
always
on
the
top.
One
million
records
of
his
were
sold
in

only
a
total
population
of
three
million!
When
Michael

eighteen,
he
entered
another
field
of
his
career(生涯)

acting.
“I
plan
to
star
in
movies,”
he
told
his
friends,
“but
of
course,
my
first
love
is
music.”
Michael
wrote
a
lot
of
his
own
songs.
“Songs
came
about
in
the
strangest
ways,”
he
said.
“I’ll
just
wake
up
from
sleeping
and
there
is
a
whole
song
coming
into
my
head.
And
then
I
put
it
down
on
the
paper.”
Still,
with
all
his
success,
Michael
managed
to
keep
his
head
calm.
“I
just
do
a
different
job
from
other
people,”
he
said,
“but
it
doesn’t
make
me
think
I’m
better
than
other
people.”
To
be
quite
honest,
his
fans
just
love
to
hear
and
watch
him!

complex
structures
of
the
human
brain,
and
is
far
more
ancient
than
previously
suspected.
In
the
articles
that
discuss
the
field
of
bio?musicology,
the
study
of
the
biological
basis
for
the
creation
and
appreciation
of
music,
researchers
present
various
evidence
to
show
that
music?making
is
at
once
an
original
human
“business”,
and
an
art
from
with
skillful
performers
throughout
the
animal
kingdom.
The
new
reports
stress
that
humans
hold
no
copyright
on
sound
wisdom,
and
that
a
number
of
nonhuman
animals
produce
what
can
rightly
be
called
music,
rather
than
random
sound.
Recent
in?depth
analyses
of
the
songs
sung
by
humpback
whales
show
that,
even
when
their
organ
would
allow
them
to
do
otherwise,
the
animals
converge
on
the
same
choices
relating
to
sounds
and
beauty,
and
accept
the
same
laws
of
song
composition
as
those
preferred
by
human
musicians,
and
human
ears,
everywhere.
For
example,
male
humpback
whales,
who
spend
six
months
of
each
year
doing
little
else
but
singing,
use
rhythms
similar
to
those
found
in
human
music
and
musical
phrases
of
similar
length?a
few
seconds.
Whales
are
able
to
make
sounds
over
a
range
of
at
least
seven
octaves(八度音阶),
yet
they
tend
to
move
on
through
a
song
in
beautiful
musical
intervals,
rather
than
moving
forwards
madly.
They
mix
the
sounds
like
drums
and
pure
tones
in
a
ratio(比例)
which
agrees
with
that
heard
in
much
western
music.
They
also
use
a
favorite
technique
of
human
singers,
the
so?called
A?B?A
form,
in
which
a
theme
is
stated,
then
developed,
and
then
returned
to
in
slightly
revised
form.
Perhaps
most
impressive,
humpback
songs
contain
tunes
that
rhyme.
“This
suggests
that
whales
use
rhyme
in
the
same
way
we
do:
as
a
technique
in
poem
to
help
them
remember
complex
material,”
the
researchers
write.

A.
They

What

A.
Animals

A.

B.

C.

D.

D
No
one
is
sure
where
and
when
the
expression
“apple?pie
order”
began.
It’s
said
that
the
housewives
of
New
England
liked
to
cut
their
apples
in
pieces.
Then
they
filled
pie
pans
with
them
in
an
organised
way,
row
upon
row.
As
one
writer
said,
the
women
of
New
England
loved
to
have
everything
in
its
place.
This
perhaps
explains
why
it
is
generally
believed
that
“apple?pie
order”
began
in
New
England.
Another
old
expression,
“apple
of
discord”,
comes
from
ancient
myth(神话),
however.
The
myth
says
that
all
the
gods
and
goddesses
were
sitting
around
the
table
to
celebrate
the
marriage
of
Thetis
and
Peleus.
One
of
the
goddesses

Eris
was
a
troublemaker.
She
threw
a
golden
apple
on
the
table
to
be
given
as
a
prize
to
the
most
beautiful
goddess.
It
was
not
an
easy
decision
to
make.
How
could
they
choose
among
Hera,
Athena
and
Aphrodite?
Paris
was
given
the
task
of
deciding.
He
decided
to
give
the
golden
apple
to
Aphrodite.
Hera
and
Athena
were
very
angry
and
threatened
him.
This,
the
myth
says,
began
the
long
Trojan
War.
At
one
time,
the
tomato
was
called
a
love
apple.
That
was
a
mistake.
In
the
sixteenth
century,
Spain
brought
the
tomato
from
South
America.
Spain
then
sold
the
tomato
to
Morocco.
Italian
traders
carried
it
on
to
Italy.
The
Italian
name
for
the
tomato
was
“pomo
di
Moro”

apple
of
the
Moors.
When
French
growers
brought
it
in
from
Italy,
they
thought
“di
Moro”
meant
“d’amour”

the
French
word
for
love.
And
so

pomo
di
Moro”
became
the
apple
of
love.
People
believe
many
things
about
the
apple.
One
belief
is
that
it
has
great
power
of
keeping
people
healthy.
A
very
common
expression
is
“An
apple
a
day
keeps
the
doctor
away.”
Another
belief
is
based
on
fact.
The
expression
is
“One
rotten
apple
spoils
the
barrel.”
When
an
apple
begins
to
go
bad,
it
ruins
all
the
other
apples
around
it
in
the
box.
The
expression
has
come
to
mean
that
one
bad
person
in
a
group
can
cause
everyone
to
act
badly.
32.
Which
of
the
following
is
TRUE
about
the
phrase
“apple?pie
order”?
A.
It
began
in
New
England.
B.
Nobody’s
sure
where
and
when
it
began.
C.
Everyone
is
sure
where
it
began.
D.
It
has
been
put
into
use
recently.
33.
What’s
the
meaning
of
“apple
of
discord”?
A.
Cause
of
disagreement.
B.
Situation
of
danger.
C.
Everything
in
agreement.
D.
Everything
in
good
order.
34.
What’s
the
purpose
of
the
third
paragraph?
A.
To
show
us
a
mistaken
idea.
B.
To
tell
us
a
love
story
about

C.
To
explain
how
the
tomato
was
called
the
apple
of
love.
D.

America.

of
the

One
winter
Sunday,
my
little
sister,
Colleen,
and
I
built
the
greatest
snowman
ever.
We
gave
him
a
carrot
nose,
beautiful
hat,
cozy
scarf
and
gloves.
He
was
a
masterpiece(杰作).
The
next
morning
when
looking
outside,
we
smiled
lovingly
at
him
over
our
meal.
We
gave
him
a
high
five
as
we
passed
by
on
our
way
to
school.
A
lot
of
kids
went
past
our
house,
so
he
was
the
hot
topic
at
our
school
that
morning.
It
was
our
pride!
The
day
dragged
on
until
finally
we
could
rush
home.
But
as
our
yard
came
into
sight,
we
saw
something
wrong.
The
snowman
was
gone!
We
only
found
a
broken
stick
here,
a
torn
glove
there
and
balls
of
snow
everywhere.
Worst
of
all,
the
snowman’s
once?proud
carrot
nose
lay
limp(无力的)
and
half?eaten.
What
had
happened?
We
were
both
astonished
and
angry.
But
then,
we
were
only
kids,
who
wouldn’t
have
anything
take
away
our
happiness.
Actually
we
knew
only
one
thing:
Our
snowman
would
rise
again.
And
so
we
rebuilt
him.
The
next
day
we
came
home
to
find
another
mess
on
the
front
lawn(草坪).
For
the
rest
of
the
week,
the
destruction
was
repeated
daily.
Each
afternoon
we’d
return
to
find
our
snowman
had
fallen
apart,
and
then
we
built
again.
By
Saturday
morning,
we
had
a
plan.
We
borrowed
a
really
big
bucket(水桶)
from
Mom,
filled
it
with
water
and
left
it
outside.
The
next
morning,
it
was
frozen
solid.
We
packed
snow
all
around
the
ice
block
as
the
base(底座)
of
the
snowman.
Then
we
built
the
other
parts
of
it
once
again.
The
trap
was
set,
and
we
waited
for
the
snowman
bullies(破坏者)
to
come.

think
of
it?
W:
Well,
it
has
a
very
interesting
beginning,
but
after
reading
for
about
twenty
pages,
I
was
disappointed.
M:
How
come?
W:
It
is
not
kind
of
boring.
But
I
kept
reading
and
now
I
find
it
interesting
again.

M:
May
I
help
you?
W:
Yes.
I
want
to
buy
some
tickets
for
the
play.
It’s
on
this
Friday,
Saturday
and
Sunday,
right?
M:
That’s
right.
Do
you
want
to
watch
it
tonight,
tomorrow
or
the
day
after
tomorrow?
W:
The
day
is
not
important,
but
my
friends
and
I
want
to
sit
together.
Do
you
have
three
such
seats
left?
M:
Let
me
check...
Yes,
we
do.
We
have
three
seats
that
are
together
the
day
after
tomorrow.
W:
Great!
Then
I’ll
take
them.

W:
Hey,
Mark,
I
heard
you’re
going
to
Germany.
Are
you
going
there
to
do
sight?seeing?
M:
No.
A
friend
of
mine
in
Germany
invited
me
to
visit
her
and
her
family.
W:
Is
she
your
girlfriend?
M:
No.
Just
a
friend
I
met
online.
W:
Do
you
know
what
to
do
when
you
visit
someone
for
the
first
time
in
that
country?
M:
Yes.
As
a
matter
of
fact,
I
do.
I
looked
it
up
on
the
Internet.
The
first
thing
I
should
do
is
arrive
on
time.
W:
Yes.
You
can
bring
a
gift.
And
please
remember
to
avoid
calling
people’s
family
name
when
you
visit
them
for
the
first
time.
M:
Thanks.
I
won’t
forget.
听第8段材料,回答第10至12题。
(Text

W:
What
did
you
like
doing
when
you
were
a
teenager,
Sam?
M:
I
love
reading
and
writing.
As
a
matter
of
fact,
I
dreamed
of
making
a
living
on
writing
one
day.
W:
Then
why
did
you
give
up
your
dream?
M:
Because
I
was
very
busy
with
my
studies
at
college.
And
after
leaving
college,
I
was
super
busy
at
work.
W:
But
now
you
have
the
time
and
money
to
make
your
dream
come
true.
You
can
write
again.
M:
Well,
now
I’m
more
interested
in
learning
languages.
W:
So
what
languages
are
you
learning
now?
M:
I’m
learning
both
French
and
Spanish.
W:
Well,
I
think
learning
a
new
language
is
really
hard.
I
prefer
watching
TV
in
my
spare
time.
M:
I
think
that’s
a
waste
of
time.
听第9段材料,回答第13至16题。
(Text

W:
Hey,
David.
Have
you
had
your
TV
fixed?
M:
No,
not
yet.
W:
Didn’t
you
say
you’d
call
the
TV
repair
shop
three
days
ago?
Did
you
forget
to
do
that?
M:
Actually,
I
called
the
repair
shop
three
days
ago
and
a
repairman
came
this
morning.
W:
Then
why
didn’t
he
fix
it?
M:
He
was
actually
looking
for
Mrs
Brown’s
apartment.
Mrs
Brown
called
four
days
ago
to
have
her
TV
fixed,
so
he
had
to
fix
hers
first.
W:
So
will
the
repairman
come
to
your
apartment
tomorrow?
M:
No.
I
told
him
not
to
come.
W:
Why?
Is
your
TV
working
again?
M:
No.
But
I’ve
changed
my
mind.
I
surfed
the
Internet
this
noon
and
came
across
a
TV
that
I
really
like.
It’s
a
smart
TV.
It
can
even
be
connected
to
the
Internet.
W:
Well,
that’s
a
good
idea.
I
mean
you’ve
had
yours
for
quite
some
time.
You
bought
your
TV
when
you
were
just
twenty?five.
You’re
already
thirty?eight
now.
M:
Yes.
I
need
a
new
one.
听第10段材料,回答第17至20题。
(Text

M:
To
begin
today’s
class,
I’d
like
to
tell
you
how
to
protect
the
environment
in
some
easy
ways.
First,
stop
buying
single?use
plastic
bottles
and
bags.
Instead,
use
a
glass
or
bottle
that
you
can
use
again
and
again.
Second,
you
can
buy
local
fruits
and
vegetables.
This
not
only
supports
farmers
in
your
area
but
helps
the
environment.
Third,
remember
to
turn
lights
off.
You
don’t
need
those
lights
to
be
on
when
you’re
not
in
the
room.
I
believe
your
parents
have
been
telling
you
this
for
years.
And
the
heating
doesn’t
need
to
be
on
for
months.
Fourth,
save
water.
Keep
an
eye
on
how
long
your
showers
last.
A
lot
of
water
is
wasted
just
by
one
person.
So
take
a
quick
shower
instead
of
wasting
water.
Fifth,
if
you
have
some
extra
money,
you
can
give
it
to
Cool
Earth
and
protect
trees.
Now
please
turn
to
page

The
students
with
laptops
will
also
have
access
to
the
Internet.
In
addition,
they
will
be
able
to
use
e?mail
to
“speak”
with
their
teachers,
their
classmates,
and
their
families.
However,
the
most
important
part
of
the
laptop
program
is
that
students
will
be
able
to
use
computers
without
going
to
computer
labs.
They
can
work
with
it
at
home,
in
a
fast?food
restaurant
or
under
the
trees

anywhere
at
all!
Because
of
the
many
changes
in
computer
technology,
laptop
use
in
higher
education,
such
as
colleges
and
universities,
is
workable.
As
laptops
become
more
powerful,
they
become
more
similar
to
desktop
computers.
In
addition,
the
portable
computers
can
connect
students
to
not
only
the
Internet,
but
also
libraries
and
other
resources.
State
higher?education
officials
are
studying
how
laptops
can
help
students.
State
officials
are
also
testing
laptop
programs
at
other
universities,
too.
At
Westlake
College,
more
than
60
percent
of
the
staff
use
computers.
The
laptops
will
allow
all
teachers
to
use
computers
in
their
lessons.
As
one
Westlake
teacher
said,
“Here
we
are
in
the
middle
of
Virginia
and
we’re
giving
students
a
window
on
the
world.
They
can
see
everything
and
do
everything.”
1.
The
main

laptop
program

schoolwork
B.
access
the
Internet
C.
work
at

B
John
didn’t
feel
well
lately
and
he
went
to
see
a
doctor.
But
all
the
advanced
equipment
there
shows
there
was
nothing
wrong
with
him.
Then
the
doctor
considered:
he
might
be
in
a
state
of
sub?health(亚健康).
Sub?health,
also
called
the
third
state
or
gray
state,
is
explained
as
a
borderline
state
between
health
and
disease.
According
to
the
report
by
the
National
Organisation,
over
45
percent
of
sub?health
people
are
middle?aged
or
elderly.
The
percentage
is
even
higher
among
people
who
work
in
management
positions
as
well
as
students
around
exam?week.
Symptoms
include
a
lack
of
energy,

agitation(焦虑),
and
poor
memory.
Other
symptoms
include
shortness

legs.
The
key
to
preventing
and
recovering
from
sub?health,
according
to
some
medical
experts,
is
to
form
good
living
habits,
alternate
work
and
rest,
exercise
regularly,
and
take
part
in
open?air
activities.
As
for
meals,
people
are
advised
to
eat
less
salt
and
sugar.
They
should
also
eat
more
fresh
vegetables,
fruits,
fish
because
they
are
rich
in
nutritional
elements—vitamins
and
traces
elements(微量元素)

that
are
important
to
the
body.
Nutrition
experts
point
out
that
it
is
not
good
to
eat
too
much
at
one
meal
because
it
may
cause
unhealthy
changes
in
the
digestive
tract(消化道).
They
also
say
that
a
balanced
diet
is
very
helpful
in
avoiding
sub?health.
5.
Middle?aged
people
may
be
easy
to
get
sub?health
because
________.
A.
they
have
used
up
their
energy
B.
they
have
lost
their
living
hopes
C.
they
have
changed
their
way
of
life
D.
they

and

Suddenly

near
their

The
father
asked
his
son,
“What
is
this?”
The
son
replied,
“It
is
a

After
a

minutes,
the
father
asked
his
son
the
second
time,
“What
is
this?”
The
son
said,
“Father,
I

now
told
you
‘It’s
a
crow’.”
After
a

the
old
father

his

the

“What

At

A

the

A

Will
he
think
of

Will
he
shout
at
me
because
of
my
poor

poor
hearing
or
poor
