How are you I left school early yesterday because the snowstorm got worse in the afternoon. The snow was really heavy.
This morning I read a newspaper article about a car accident. A man named Su Ning called the 110 hotline at 7.40p.m using his mobile phone. His car crashed into a tree near Starlight Street in Sunshine Town . He and his wife were trapped in the car. The snow was heavy and it covered everything. The policeman arrived at 7.45p.m and they sent them to Sunshine Hospital at 7.55p.m . Mr Su felt cold and frightned but he was not hurt. Mrs Su hurt her left leg but it was not serious.
Now, I know that bad weather can be dangerous.

1.教学内容:牛津英语8A第6单元综合训练
2.教材处理:本章节由一个听力练习,一个在此基础上完成邮件的练习以及一个谈论自然灾难的对话组成。本人在上这堂课的时候对教材略作调整,并增加了一些相关内容。
如:在热身的时候就以谈论天气的话题复习词汇部分的内容,接着以图片的形式再复习了reading的内容。在处理对话与听力的时候把顺序作了调整。采取先说后听的步骤。此外,在完成邮件以后增加了一个discussion。(孙氏夫妇用了手机及时求助得以在暴风雪中获救,那么如果是学生自己被困,没有手机怎么办呢?)最后,通过讨论知道如何在暴风雪中逃生后,那么遭遇其他自然灾难又将怎么办呢?课时最后增加了一些完全措施。让学生通过学习本课知道如何面对常见自然灾难。
3.教学目标
a.学会描述,谈论自然灾难。
b.了解并掌握拨打紧急求助电话时的用语,培养细听能力。
c.通过创设真实而自然的语言环境培养学生的听说能力。
d.通过对本课的学习,学会如何面对生活中发生的自然灾难。
4.教学重点和难点
a.可以不受课本模式限制谈论自然灾难。
b.紧急求助电话中需要交代清楚的事项。
c.在自己身处灾难困境时如何逃生。
3. 教学设计
1.总体思路
本课主要让学生通过听,说, 看, 写的方式了解天气和自然灾难,并学会在遭遇这些灾难时如何逃生。通过多媒体手段,可以直观,生动地让学生了解到自然灾难的可怕性。这样可以提供学生生动的描述画面,谈论所看到或听到的灾难场面,教材中还提供了一个对话作为模式,学生视需要可以采用这个模式,也可以自由对话。通过对话,更深一步了解天气和自然灾难的关系。继而通过听一则由天气引起的事故加深学生的认识。并学会如何拨打求助电话,以获得及时的帮助。当然本课主要要让学生明白:恶劣的天气可能引发自然灾难,我们应该怎样面对这些灾难,采用什么样的逃生方式最有效,我们应该以什么样的心态,心理素质去面对等等问题。从而达到学以致用。所以处理这一块内容,我选用了集体探讨,然后师生一起得出结论。最后拓宽学生的思路,将话题扩展到:如何面对我们生活中常见的自然灾难,这时我通过列举安全措施让学生判断该如何做来达到这一教学目的。
2.教学过程
Step 1. Revision
1. Warm up by talking about weather .
2. Review some natural disasters the students are familiar with by watching a video.
3. Go over what they learnt in the passage (The Taiwan earthquake) by showing them
some pictures and describing them.

Step 2. Transition
We should say Timmy was really a lucky boy since he survived the quake and was saved at last successfully. But do you think everybody was as lucky as him No. In fact, this is the strongest earthquake in Taiwan so far. Many people were injured or killed in this quake and lots of buildings were destroyed by it. Look at the following pictures ,and you will understand how terrible it was.

Step 3.Speaking up
So we can see this earthquake is really terrible Have you ever seen or experienced such natural disasters in your life You must have heard about some, right Let’s talk about some disasters we have heard about, using Amy and Sandy’s conversation as a model.
Listen and answer the question: what disaster are they talking about
Read and answer: What happened to the school How was the fire started Was anybody hurt
Read the dialogue.
Then talk about the natural disasters you have heard about with your own ideas.
Act out their dialogues.

这个步骤是通过以所学对话为模式来谈论学生所听到的自然灾难,当然在实际对话时我们要求不一定要局限于这个模式。前面复习时我们已经接触到灾难的大量词汇以及常见的灾难种类,在这儿,学生可以把所学的知识加以运用。
Step 4.Listening
So we know bad weather can be very dangerous and can cause accidents.(a summary of their dialogues)

Look at the accident report form and fill in the blanks.(Explain some new words in the form:

Listen again and check answers.
Look at the police report and complete all the blanks.

Step 5. writing ( complete an e-mail)

Step 6. Discussion.

Work in groups of four or more and discuss.

这是对教材的补充,学生从书上学会了遇到暴风雪可以用手机求助,但要是没带手机怎么办呢?这个环节要学生充分想象当时的情景并作出有效的举措以赢得获救的可能。这也是我们很可能在生活中碰到的问题,所以我们所学不能局限于课本。
学生讨论后, 师生一起总结:能够自救的方式方法。
Step 7 Safety measures
How can we stay safe if there are some other natural disasters we are familiar with in our life
List some safety measures in an earthquake , a flood , a fire and a typhoon and ask the students to tell what we should do and shouldn’t do.

这是对教材的进一步扩充,也是学以致用的体现。通过列举生活中常见的自然灾难的安全措施让学生明白该怎么做,不明白的地方做适当解释,这正是课文的升华。也是本课的情感目标所要达到的要求。
