Can

M:
⑩I’m
going
to
rent
a
one-bedroom
apartment
near
the
bus
station.
W:
I’m
afraid
there
are
only
two
available
for
you.
The
first
apartment
is
well-furnished
and
modern.
It’s
very
neat
and
clean.
It
has
a
bedroom,
a
kitchen,
a
bathroom
and
a
large
living
room.
It’s
in
the
Bridge
Street
and
there
it
is
very
quiet.
M:
So
what
about
the
rent?
W:
The
owner
is
asking
$700
a
month
for
it.
MThat’s
a
little
expensive.
So
what
about
the
other
one?
W:
Well,
compared
to
the
first
one,
the
second
one
has
less
furniture.
It’s
near
a
school,
so
it’s
likely
to
be
a
little
bit
noisy.
But
the
good
news
is
that
it’s
in
the
Baker
Street
and
just
a
short
walk
from
the
Green
Park.
M:
What’s
the
rent,
then?
WIt’s
only
$500
a
month.
The
point
is
that
rents
in
that
area
are
usually
up
to
$600
a
month.
M:
It’s
really
a
bargain.
But
I
think
I’ll
look
at
the
first
one.

Shigehiro
Oishi
of
the
University
of
Virginia.
“Given
that
meaning
in
life
is
an
important
aspect
of
overall
well-being,
we
wanted
to
look
more
carefully
at
differential
patterns,
correlates
(相关物),
and
predictors
for
meaning
in
life.
”
Oishi
and
colleague
Ed
Diener
of
the
University
of
Illinois
at
Urbana-Champaign
investigated
life
satisfaction,
meaning,
and
well-being
by
examining
data
from
the
2007
Gallup
World
Poll,
a
large-scale
survey
of
over
140,
000
participants
from
132
countries.
In
addition
to
answering
a
basic
life
satisfaction
question,
participants
were
asked:
“Do
you
feel
your
life
has
an
important
purpose
or
meaning?
”
and
“Is
religion
an
important
part
of
your
daily
life?
”
The
data
revealed
some
unexpected
trends:
“Among
Americans,
those
who
are
high
in
life
satisfaction
are
also
high
in
meaning
in
life,
”
says
Oishi.
“But
when
we
looked
at
the
societal
level
of
analysis,
we
found
a
completely
different
pattern
of
the
association
between
meaning
in
life
and
life
satisfaction.
”
When
looking
across
many
countries,
Oishi
and
Diener
found
that
people
in
wealthier
nations
were
more
educated,
had
fewer
children,
and
expressed
more
individualistic
attitudes
compared
to
those
in
poorer
countries—all
factors
that
were
associated
with
higher
life
satisfaction
but
a
significantly
lower
sense
of
meaning
in
life.
”
The
data
suggest
that
religiosity
may
play
an
important
role:
Residents
of
wealthier
nations,
where
religiosity
is
lower,
reported
less
meaning
in
life
and
had
higher
suicide
rates
than
poorer
countries.
According
to
the
researchers,
religion
may
provide
meaning
to
life
to
the
extent
that
it
helps
people
to
overcome
personal
difficulty
and
cope
with
the
struggles
of
working
to
survive
in
poor
economic
conditions:
“Religion
gives
a
system
that
connects
daily
experiences
with
the
coherent
whole
(连贯的整体)and
a
general
structure
to
one’s
life.
.
.
and
plays
a
critical
role
in
constructing
meaning
out
of
extreme
hardship,
”
the
researchers
write.
Oishi
and
Diener
hope
to
reproduce
these
findings
using
more
comprehensive
measures
of
meaning
and
religiosity,
and
are
interested
in
following
countries
over
time
to
track
whether
economic
prosperity
gives
rise
to
less
religiosity
and
less
meaning
in
life.

Most
people
want
to
be
happy,
but
few
know
how
to
find
happiness.
Money
and
success
alone
do
not
bring
lasting
happiness.
Aristotle,
a
Greek
thinker,
said,
“Happiness
depends
upon
ourselves.
”
In
other
words,
we
make
our
own
happiness.
Here
are
a
few
suggestions
to
help
you
be
happier.
The
first
secret
of
happiness
is
to
enjoy
the
simple
things
in
life.
Too
often,
we
spend
so
much
time
thinking
about
the
future
—for
example,
getting
into
college
or
getting
a
good
job
—that
we
fail
to
enjoy
the
present.
You
should
enjoy
life’s
simple
pleasures,
such
as
reading
a
good
book,
listening
to
your
favorite
music,
or
spending
time
with
close
friends.
People
who
have
several
close
friends
often
live
happier
and
healthier
lives.
Another
secret
to
living
a
happy
life
is
to
be
active,
and
have
hobbies
where
you
forget
your
problems
and
time.
Many
people
experience
this
dancing,
or
playing
a
sport,
such
as
swimming.
You
can
forget
about
your
problems,
and
only
think
about
the
activity.
Finally,
many
people
find
happiness
in
helping
others.
Studies
show
that
people
feel
good
when
they
spend
their
time
helping
others.
If
you
want
to
feel
happier,
do
good
things
for
someone.
You
can
help
a
friend
with
his
or
her
studies,
go
shopping
to
buy
food
for
an
elderly
person,
or
simply
help
out
around
the
house
by
washing
the
dishes.

(2021·北京高二检测)
I
used
to
think
the
whole
purpose
of
life
was
pursuing
happiness.
Everyone
said
the
path
to
happiness
was
success,
so
I
searched
for
that
ideal
job,
that
perfect
boyfriend,
and
that
beautiful
apartment.
But
instead
of
ever
feeling
fulfilled,
I
felt
anxious
and
lost.
Eventually,
I
decided
to
go
to
graduate
school
for
positive
psychology
to
learn
what
truly
makes
people
happy.
And
what’s
the
difference
between
being
happy
and
having
meaning
in
life?
Many
psychologists
describe
happiness
as
a
state
of
comfort
and
ease,
feeling
good
in
the
moment.
Meaning,
though,
is
deeper.
The
famous
psychologist
Martin
Seligman
says
meaning
comes
from
belonging
to
and
serving
something
beyond
yourself
and
from
developing
the
best
within
you.
Our
culture
is
obsessed
with
happiness,
but
I
came
to
see
that
seeking
meaning
is
the
more
fulfilling
path.
There
are
four
pillars
of
a
meaningful
life.
The
first
pillar
is
belonging.
Belonging
comes
from
being
in
relationships
where
you’re
valued
for
who
you
are
and
where
you
value
others
as
well.
For
many
people,
belonging
is
the
most
essential
source
of
meaning.
For
others,
the
key
to
meaning
is
the
second
pillar:
purpose.
Finding
your
purpose
is
not
the
same
thing
as
finding
that
job
that
makes
you
happy.
A
doctor
told
me
her
purpose
is
healing
sick
people.
Many
parents
tell
me,
“My
purpose
is
raising
my
children.
”
The
key
to
purpose
is
using
your
strengths
to
serve
others.
Without
something
worthwhile
to
do,
people
flounder,
thus
losing
the
aim
of
life.
The
third
pillar
of
meaning
is
also
about
stepping
beyond
yourself,
but
in
a
completely
different
way:
transcendence
(超然).
Transcendent
experiences
can
change
you.
Transcendent
states
are
those
rare
moments
when
you’re
lifted
above
the
hustle
and
bustle
of
daily
life,
your
sense
of
self
fades
away,
and
you
feel
connected
to
a
higher
reality.
For
me,
I’m
a
writer,
and
it
happens
through
writing.
Sometimes
I
get
so
in
the
zone
that
I
lose
all
sense
of
time
and
place.
The
fourth
pillar
is
storytelling,
the
story
you
tell
yourself
about
yourself.
Creating
a
narrative
from
the
events
of
your
life
brings
clarity.
It
helps
you
understand
how
you
became
you.
But
we
don’t
always
realize
that
we’re
the
authors
of
our
stories
and
can
change
the
way
we’re
telling
them.
Your
life
isn’t
just
a
list
of
events.
You
can
edit,
interpret
and
retell
your
story,
even
as
you’re
constrained
by
the
facts.
That’s
the
power
of
meaning.
Happiness
comes
and
goes.
But
when
life
is
really
good
and
when
things
are
really
bad,
having
meaning
gives
you
something
to
hold
on
to.

Life
Lessons
Everyone
Learns
the
Hard
Way
No
matter
how
much
we
try
to

life
has
its

ways
of
teaching
us
the
valuable
lessons.
Though
initially

Lying

harmful.
Everyone
at

must
have
definitely

that
lying
is
a
very
dangerous
thing
for
the

which

too.
Lying
makes

option.
Some

sometimes,
circumstances

arrange
in
such
a

that
it

move
ahead.
38
At

it

to
move
on
with
the
memories,
rather
than
stay
there
and
live

a
blank
space

In
the

every
mistake

a
mistake
in

with
ourselves.

“To

We

all
humans,
so
nobody
knows
everything,
and
it
is
fine
to
forgive
ourselves
for
the
things
that
went
wrong.
40 ?
A.
It
is
natural
to
make
mistakes.
B.
Happiness

the
care

everything.
C.
It
is
wrong

some

work
out.
D.
We

its
own
flaws

F.
Everything
has
its
tenure

and
it

of
it.

we

is
try
to
avoid
repeating
them
or
doing
any

Can
money
buy
happiness?
People
have
various
answers
to
the
question.
Some
people
think
they
can
use
money
to
buy
everything
they
need.
Therefore,
they
believe
that
money
is
the
source
of
happiness.
On
the
other
hand,
a
lot
of
others
think
that
money
is
the
root
of
all
evil.
For
these
people,
money
brings
them
nothing
but
evil
and
misery.
In
my
view,
money,
when
justly
obtained
and
properly
used,
can
bring
us
happiness

blessings.
However,
if
we

Do

the
music

No?
Often
it

very
difficult
to

out.
It
is
similar
to
the
music
you
listen
to,
but
it
is
not
the

The
music
played
in
stores
is
changed
to
be
more
relaxing
and
to
give
you
more
mental
energy.
This
style
of
music
is
called
“elevator
music”.
Elevator
music
is
also
referred
to
as
Muzak.
Muzak
is
very
commonly
listened
to
in
the
USA.
About
1/3
of
Americans
will
listen
to
Muzak
for
about
15
minutes
a
day
in
order
to
relax
themselves.
The
music
is
played
and
contains
short
pauses.
The
most
common
time
to
hear
elevator
music
played
is
between
ten
and
eleven
in
the
morning,
and
three
to
four
in
the
afternoon.
This
is
when
most
people
are
the
most
tired
and
could
use
the
extra
energy.
Elevator
music
is
often
played
in
public
places
because
it
is
designed
to
make
people
feel
less
lonely
and
refreshes
their
brain.
It
has
been
proven
that
Muzak
does
what
it
is
supposed
to
do.
Studies
have
shown
that
tired
office
workers
have
more
energy
when
Muzak
is
played
in
the
background
of
the
office.
In
addition,
factory
workers
produce
13%
more
and
shoppers
buy
38%
more
groceries
in
supermarket
when
listening
to
Muzak.
Some
people
do
not
like
Muzak.
They
say
it’s
boring
to
hear
the
same
songs
all
the
time,
but
other
people
enjoy
hearing
Muzak
in
public
places.
They
say
it
helps
them
relax
and
feel
calm.
Often
you
may
recognize
the
songs
being
played.
That
is
because
many
of
the
songs
have
been
bought
from
the
musicians
or
songwriters.
Some
of
them
do
not
like
their
music
to
be
used
for
Muzak
but
others
are
happy
when
their
songs
are
chosen.
The
top
musicians
that
allow
their
music
to
turn
into
Muzak
music
can
make
up
to
4
million
US
dollars
a
year.
One
way
or
another,
Muzak
affects
everyone.

There

a
rich

who

New

party
at
their
house.
So
they
went
shopping
at
a
market
where
everything
was
of
high
cost
and
had
a
fixed
price.
They
wanted
to
maintain
their
high
level
of
standard
so
they
didn’t

paying

it.
After
purchasing
all
they
needed,
they
called
a
porter
to
carry
everything
and
drop
it
at
their
home.
The
porter
who
came
was
of
an
old
age,
and
looked
very
unhealthy,
and
his
clothes
were
torn,
and
he
looked
as
if
he

to

his
daily
needs.
They
asked
the
porter
about
the
charge
for
delivering
their
goods
to
their
home.
The
old
porter
quoted
just
$20,
well
below
the
market
price.
Yet,
the
couple
argued
and
bargained
with
the
porter
and
finally
he
settled
for
$15.
The
porter
was
struggling
to
make
money
for
even
one
time’s
meal,
so
he
needed
anything
he
could
earn.
The
couple
was
very
happy
thinking
how
well
they
bargained
with
the
poor
porter
and
paid
him
$15
in
advance
and
left
after
giving
the
porter
their
address
for
delivery.
They
reached
their
home
and
one
hour
passed,
and
two
hours
passed,

the
porter
still
didn’t

“I

to
me.
I
am
sure
instead
of
delivering
the
goods
to
our

he
must
have
disappeared
with
everything.
We
must
immediately
go
back
to
the
market
to
inquire
more
about
the
porter
and
then
go
to
the
police
station
to
file
a
complaint
against
him.
”
They
both
left
towards
the
market.
On
their
way
near
the
market,
they
saw
another
porter.
They
stopped
him
to
inquire
about
the
old
porter
but
noticed
that
he
was
carrying
their
goods
in
his
cart!
The
angry
wife
asked
him,
“Where
is
that
old
thief?
This
is
our
goods
and
he
was
supposed
to
deliver
them.
It
seems
you
poor
thieves
are
stealing
our

and
are
going
to

Any
plans

W:
Not

to
go

dinner.
M:
But
I
thought
you
always
eat
at

W:

I
do.

I’d

Well,
a

opened

I
went
there

W:
In

way?
M:
They
offered
food

well
as
music
show.
W:
Music
show?
M:
Yeah.
You
know,
songs,
dances.
W:
Sounds
good.
When
does
it
start?
M:
⑨At
8
pm.
And
it
will
last
an

W:

What’s
their
menu
like?
M:
They
offer
food
of
different
kinds.
You
know,
Japanese
food,
French
food,
Indian
food
.
.
.

Great.

W:
Good
morning!
Can
I
help
you?
M:
⑩I’m
going
to
rent
a
one-bedroom
apartment
near
the
bus
station.
W:
I’m
afraid
there
are
only
two
available
for
you.
The
first
apartment
is
well-furnished
and
modern.
It’s
very
neat
and
clean.
It
has
a
bedroom,
a
kitchen,
a
bathroom
and
a
large
living
room.
It’s
in
the
Bridge
Street
and
there
it
is
very
quiet.
M:
So
what
about
the
rent?
W:
The
owner
is
asking
$700
a
month
for
it.
MThat’s
a
little
expensive.
So
what
about
the
other
one?
W:
Well,
compared
to
the
first
one,
the
second
one
has
less
furniture.
It’s
near
a
school,
so
it’s
likely
to
be
a
little
bit
noisy.
But
the
good
news
is
that
it’s
in
the
Baker
Street
and
just
a
short
walk
from
the
Green
Park.
M:
What’s
the
rent,
then?
WIt’s
only
$500
a
month.
The
point
is
that
rents
in
that
area
are
usually
up
to
$600
a
month.
M:
It’s
really
a
bargain.
But
I
think
I’ll
look
at
the
first
one.
10.
Where
does
the
man
want
to
rent
an
apartment?
A.
Near
the
school.
B.
Near
the
park.
C.
Near
the
bus
station.
11.
What
doesn’t
the
man
like
about
the
first
apartment?
A.
The
traffic
is
not
convenient.
B.
The
rent
is
a
little
bit
high.
C.
The
living
room
is
small.
12.
What
is
the
monthly
rent
for
the
second
apartment?
A.
$500.
B.
$600.
C.
$700.

(2021·北京高二检测)
While
residents
of
wealthy
nations
tend
to
have
greater
life
satisfaction,
new
research
shows
that
those
living
in
poorer
nations
report
having
greater
meaning
in
life.
These
findings,
published
in
Psychological
Science,
a
journal
of
the
Association
for
Psychological
Science,
suggest
that
meaning
in
life
may
be
higher
in
poorer
nations
as
a
result
of
greater
religiosity
(笃信宗教).
As
countries
become
richer,
religion
becomes
less
central
to
people’s
lives
and
they
lose
a
sense
of
meaning
in
life.
“Thus
far,
the
wealth
of
nations
has
been
almost
always
associated
with
longevity,
health,
happiness
or
life
satisfaction,
”
explains
psychological
scientist
Shigehiro
Oishi
of
the
University
of
Virginia.
“Given
that
meaning
in
life
is
an
important
aspect
of
overall
well-being,
we
wanted
to
look
more
carefully
at
differential
patterns,
correlates
(相关物),
and
predictors
for
meaning
in
life.
”
Oishi
and
colleague
Ed
Diener
of
the
University
of
Illinois
at
Urbana-Champaign
investigated
life
satisfaction,
meaning,
and
well-being
by
examining
data
from
the
2007
Gallup
World
Poll,
a
large-scale
survey
of
over
140,
000
participants
from
132
countries.
In
addition
to
answering
a
basic
life
satisfaction
question,
participants
were
asked:
“Do
you
feel
your
life
has
an
important
purpose
or
meaning?
”
and
“Is
religion
an
important
part
of
your
daily
life?
”
The
data
revealed
some
unexpected
trends:
“Among
Americans,
those
who
are
high
in
life
satisfaction
are
also
high
in
meaning
in
life,
”
says
Oishi.
“But
when
we
looked
at
the
societal
level
of
analysis,
we
found
a
completely
different
pattern
of
the
association
between
meaning
in
life
and
life
satisfaction.
”
When
looking
across
many
countries,
Oishi
and
Diener
found
that
people
in
wealthier
nations
were
more
educated,
had
fewer
children,
and
expressed
more
individualistic
attitudes
compared
to
those
in
poorer
countries—all
factors
that
were
associated
with
higher
life
satisfaction
but
a
significantly
lower
sense
of
meaning
in
life.
”
The
data
suggest
that
religiosity
may
play
an
important
role:
Residents
of
wealthier
nations,
where
religiosity
is
lower,
reported
less
meaning
in
life
and
had
higher
suicide
rates
than
poorer
countries.
According
to
the
researchers,
religion
may
provide
meaning
to
life
to
the
extent
that
it
helps
people
to
overcome
personal
difficulty
and
cope
with
the
struggles
of
working
to
survive
in
poor
economic
conditions:
“Religion
gives
a
system
that
connects
daily
experiences
with
the
coherent
whole
(连贯的整体)and
a
general
structure
to
one’s
life.
.
.
and
plays
a
critical
role
in
constructing
meaning
out
of
extreme
hardship,
”
the
researchers
write.
Oishi
and
Diener
hope
to
reproduce
these
findings
using
more
comprehensive
measures
of
meaning
and
religiosity,
and
are
interested
in
following
countries
over
time
to
track
whether
economic
prosperity
gives
rise
to
less
religiosity
and
less
meaning
in
life.

(2021·太原高二检测)
Most
people
want
to
be
happy,
but
few
know
how
to
find
happiness.
Money
and
success
alone
do
not
bring
lasting
happiness.
Aristotle,
a
Greek
thinker,
said,
“Happiness
depends
upon
ourselves.
”
In
other
words,
we
make
our
own
happiness.
Here
are
a
few
suggestions
to
help
you
be
happier.
The
first
secret
of
happiness
is
to
enjoy
the
simple
things
in
life.
Too
often,
we
spend
so
much
time
thinking
about
the
future
—for
example,
getting
into
college
or
getting
a
good
job
—that
we
fail
to
enjoy
the
present.
You
should
enjoy
life’s
simple
pleasures,
such
as
reading
a
good
book,
listening
to
your
favorite
music,
or
spending
time
with
close
friends.
People
who
have
several
close
friends
often
live
happier
and
healthier
lives.
Another
secret
to
living
a
happy
life
is
to
be
active,
and
have
hobbies
where
you
forget
your
problems
and
time.
Many
people
experience
this
dancing,
or
playing
a
sport,
such
as
swimming.
You
can
forget
about
your
problems,
and
only
think
about
the
activity.
Finally,
many
people
find
happiness
in
helping
others.
Studies
show
that
people
feel
good
when
they
spend
their
time
helping
others.
If
you
want
to
feel
happier,
do
good
things
for
someone.
You
can
help
a
friend
with
his
or
her
studies,
go
shopping
to
buy
food
for
an
elderly
person,
or
simply
help
out
around
the
house
by
washing
the
dishes.

(2021·北京高二检测)
I
used
to
think
the
whole
purpose
of
life
was
pursuing
happiness.
Everyone
said
the
path
to
happiness
was
success,
so
I
searched
for
that
ideal
job,
that
perfect
boyfriend,
and
that
beautiful
apartment.
But
instead
of
ever
feeling
fulfilled,
I
felt
anxious
and
lost.
Eventually,
I
decided
to
go
to
graduate
school
for
positive
psychology
to
learn
what
truly
makes
people
happy.
And
what’s
the
difference
between
being
happy
and
having
meaning
in
life?
Many
psychologists
describe
happiness
as
a
state
of
comfort
and
ease,
feeling
good
in
the
moment.
Meaning,
though,
is
deeper.
The
famous
psychologist
Martin
Seligman
says
meaning
comes
from
belonging
to
and
serving
something
beyond
yourself
and
from
developing
the
best
within
you.
Our
culture
is
obsessed
with
happiness,
but
I
came
to
see
that
seeking
meaning
is
the
more
fulfilling
path.
There
are
four
pillars
of
a
meaningful
life.
The
first
pillar
is
belonging.
Belonging
comes
from
being
in
relationships
where
you’re
valued
for
who
you
are
and
where
you
value
others
as
well.
For
many
people,
belonging
is
the
most
essential
source
of
meaning.
For
others,
the
key
to
meaning
is
the
second
pillar:
purpose.
Finding
your
purpose
is
not
the
same
thing
as
finding
that
job
that
makes
you
happy.
A
doctor
told
me
her
purpose
is
healing
sick
people.
Many
parents
tell
me,
“My
purpose
is
raising
my
children.
”
The
key
to
purpose
is
using
your
strengths
to
serve
others.
Without
something
worthwhile
to
do,
people
flounder,
thus
losing
the
aim
of
life.
The
third
pillar
of
meaning
is
also
about
stepping
beyond
yourself,
but
in
a
completely
different
way:
transcendence
(超然).
Transcendent
experiences
can
change
you.
Transcendent
states
are
those
rare
moments
when
you’re
lifted
above
the
hustle
and
bustle
of
daily
life,
your
sense
of
self
fades
away,
and
you
feel
connected
to
a
higher
reality.
For
me,
I’m
a
writer,
and
it
happens
through
writing.
Sometimes
I
get
so
in
the
zone
that
I
lose
all
sense
of
time
and
place.
The
fourth
pillar
is
storytelling,
the
story
you
tell
yourself
about
yourself.
Creating
a
narrative
from
the
events
of
your
life
brings
clarity.
It
helps
you
understand
how
you
became
you.
But
we
don’t
always
realize
that
we’re
the
authors
of
our
stories
and
can
change
the
way
we’re
telling
them.
Your
life
isn’t
just
a
list
of
events.
You
can
edit,
interpret
and
retell
your
story,
even
as
you’re
constrained
by
the
facts.
That’s
the
power
of
meaning.
Happiness
comes
and
goes.
But
when
life
is
really
good
and
when
things
are
really
bad,
having
meaning
gives
you
something
to
hold
on
to.
32.
What
can
we
know
from
the
first
two
paragraphs?
A.
Life
might
be
fulfilled
by
landing
ideal
jobs.
B.
Life
dilemma
is
challenging
for
us
to
get
out
of.
C.
Meaning
is
highly
valued
in
our
culture.
D.
Happiness
is
what
most
people
try
to
achieve.
33.
Which
word
is
the
closest
to
the
underlined
word?
A.
Confused B.
Distracted
C.
Disappointed
D.

34.
Which
pillar
can
describe
an
artist
obsessed
with
her
work
despite
repeated
failures?
A.
Belonging
B.
Purpose
C.
Transcendence
D.
Storytelling
35.
The
passage
aims
to
tell
us
that
______.
?
A.
meaning
is
superior
to
happiness
B.
meaning
is
the
way

C.

Life
Lessons
Everyone
Learns
the
Hard
Way
No
matter
how
much
we
try
to
be
intellectual,
life
has
its
own
ways
of
teaching
us
the
valuable
lessons.
Though
initially
we
are
hurt
and
very
shocked,
we
eventually
learn
from
those
experiences,
and
mature.
36
And
we
learn
to
be
always
optimistic
and
happy
with
the
way
it
is.
?
Lying
is
harmful.
Everyone
at
some
point
in
life
must
have
definitely
realized
that
lying
is
a
very
dangerous
thing
for
the
mind,
which
ultimately
affects
health,
too.
Lying
makes
a
man
lose
the
trust
of
others.
37 ?
Sometimes
moving
on
is
the
only
option.
Some
things
are
very
dear
to
us,
and
we
can’t
imagine
life
without
those
activities
or
people.
But
sometimes,
circumstances
and
situations
arrange
in
such
a
way
that
it
is
better
to
leave
something
and
move
ahead.
38
At
times,
it
is
better
to
move
on
with
the
memories,
rather
than
stay
there
and
live
in
a
blank
space
with
no
possible
future.
?
39
In
the
race
of
being
a
perfectionist
and
an
ideal
grown-up,
every
mistake
committed
by
us
becomes
a
mistake
in
our
minds
and
we
become
annoyed
with
ourselves.
It
is
rightly
said,
“To
err
((犯错))is
human.
”
We
are
all
humans,
so
nobody
knows
everything,
and
it
is
fine
to
forgive
ourselves
for
the
things
that
went
wrong.
40 ?
A.
It
is
natural
to
make
mistakes.
B.
Happiness
is
the
care
of
everything.
C.
It
is
wrong
if
some
things
don’t
work
out.
D.
We
understand
that
life
is
beautiful
with
its
own
flaws
(瑕疵).
E.
And
he
would
finally
lose
confidence
and
trust
on
his
own
self.
F.
Everything
has
its
tenure
(任期),
and
it
is
the
beauty
of
it.
G.
What
we
should
do
is
try
to
avoid
repeating
them
or
doing
any
wrong
intentionally.

(2021·杭州高二检测)
Do
you
ever
notice
the
music
playing
when
you
enter
a
store?
No?
Often
it
is
very
difficult
to
point
out.
It
is
similar
to
the
music
you
listen
to,
but
it
is
not
the
same.
The
music
played
in
stores
is
changed
to
be
more
relaxing
and
to
give
you
more
mental
energy.
This
style
of
music
is
called
“elevator
music”.
Elevator
music
is
also
referred
to
as
Muzak.
Muzak
is
very
commonly
listened
to
in
the
USA.
About
1/3
of
Americans
will
listen
to
Muzak
for
about
15
minutes
a
day
in
order
to
relax
themselves.
The
music
is
played
and
contains
short
pauses.
The
most
common
time
to
hear
elevator
music
played
is
between
ten
and
eleven
in
the
morning,
and
three
to
four
in
the
afternoon.
This
is
when
most
people
are
the
most
tired
and
could
use
the
extra
energy.
Elevator
music
is
often
played
in
public
places
because
it
is
designed
to
make
people
feel
less
lonely
and
refreshes
their
brain.
It
has
been
proven
that
Muzak
does
what
it
is
supposed
to
do.
Studies
have
shown
that
tired
office
workers
have
more
energy
when
Muzak
is
played
in
the
background
of
the
office.
In
addition,
factory
workers
produce
13%
more
and
shoppers
buy
38%
more
groceries
in
supermarket
when
listening
to
Muzak.
Some
people
do
not
like
Muzak.
They
say
it’s
boring
to
hear
the
same
songs
all
the
time,
but
other
people
enjoy
hearing
Muzak
in
public
places.
They
say
it
helps
them
relax
and
feel
calm.
Often
you
may
recognize
the
songs
being
played.
That
is
because
many
of
the
songs
have
been
bought
from
the
musicians
or
songwriters.
Some
of
them
do
not
like
their
music
to
be
used
for
Muzak
but
others
are
happy
when
their
songs
are
chosen.
The
top
musicians
that
allow
their
music
to
turn
into
Muzak
music
can
make
up
to
4
million
US
dollars
a
year.
One
way
or
another,
Muzak
affects
everyone.

New
Year
party
at
their
house.
So
they
went
shopping
at
a
market
where
everything
was
of
high
cost
and
had
a
fixed
price.
They
wanted
to
maintain
their
high
level
of
standard
so
they
didn’t
mind
paying
for
it.
After
purchasing
all
they
needed,
they
called
a
porter
to
carry
everything
and
drop
it
at
their
home.
The
porter
who
came
was
of
an
old
age,
and
looked
very
unhealthy,
and
his
clothes
were
torn,
and
he
looked
as
if
he
wasn’t
even
able
to
meet
his
daily
needs.
They
asked
the
porter
about
the
charge
for
delivering
their
goods
to
their
home.
The
old
porter
quoted
just
$20,
well
below
the
market
price.
Yet,
the
couple
argued
and
bargained
with
the
porter
and
finally
he
settled
for
$15.
The
porter
was
struggling
to
make
money
for
even
one
time’s
meal,
so
he
needed
anything
he
could
earn.
The
couple
was
very
happy
thinking
how
well
they
bargained
with
the
poor
porter
and
paid
him
$15
in
advance
and
left
after
giving
the
porter
their
address
for
delivery.
They
reached
their
home
and
one
hour
passed,
and
two
hours
passed,
but
the
porter
still
didn’t
deliver
their
stuff.
The
wife
started
to
get
angry
at
her
husband,
“I
always
tell
you
not
to
trust
such
person,
but
you
never
listen
to
me.
I
am
sure
instead
of
delivering
the
goods
to
our
home,
he
must
have
disappeared
with
everything.
We
must
immediately
go
back
to
the
market
to
inquire
more
about
the
porter
and
then
go
to
the
police
station
to
file
a
complaint
against
him.
”
They
both
left
towards
the
market.
On
their
way
near
the
market,
they
saw
another
porter.
They
stopped
him
to
inquire
about
the
old
porter
but
noticed
that
he
was
carrying
their
goods
in
his
cart!
The
angry
wife
asked
him,
“Where
is
that
old
thief?
This
is
our
goods
and
he
was
supposed
to
deliver
them.
It
seems
you
poor
thieves
are
stealing
our
goods
and
are
going
to
sell
them.
”
