Step1. Presentation (8mins)
Activity: Greeting, free talking new words teaching
T greets Ss and then have a free talk with them.
T: Hello, boys and girls.
(Ss say hello to the teacher).
T: I think you must have a happy weekend. Could you tell me “What do you usually do on weekends?”
S1: I often go to the movies.
T: Do you think it’s interesting?
S1: Yes, it’s very interesting!
T: How about you? What do you usually do on weekends?
S2: I usually read some books.
T: Oh! Me too! But I did something different last weekend. What did I do ? If you want to know, you can ask me: What did you do last weekend?
Ss: What did you do last weekend?
T: I listened to music. (listen to a piece of music at the same time. Then T asks Ss to read this phrase twice after T.)
T: OK. Pay attention to the verb. The whole class, please read after me: listen—listened.
Ss: listen—listened.
T: listen—listened.
Ss: listen—listened.
Step2. Practice (25mins)
Activity 1: Guessing games
T shows pictures and asks different student. Let Ss answer the question according to the pictures.
T: Besides listened to music, I also did other different things. Now, please guess: “What did I do last weekend?” according to the pictures. XXX, can you try?
S3: You camp by the lake.
T: Yes, I camped by the lake. Here, don’t forget “-ed” for I did this in last weekend OK?
Ss: OK!
T: So the whole class, read after me, camp-camped, camp-camped

(T shows another three pictures and asks different to guess T’s activities. Though the guessing game, T teaches the past tense those verbs: play-played, go-went.)
Activity 2: Matching and speaking
T invites Ss to write the letter of the Activities. Finish 1a. Then check the answer and read the phrases together.
T: Now, Please look at the picture on your textbook. You should match the phrases with activities in the picture. Finish1a. I think it is easy for you.
Ss: OK.
(After 30 seconds.)
T: Time’s up. Have you finished it?
Ss: Year!
T: Let’s check the answer together.
(Check the answer together)
T: OK, the whole class, please read those phrases loudly together.
Activity 3: Listening and writing
T invites Ss to listen to the tape and write the day, morning, afternoon or night below each picture.
T: Now let’s listen! People do different things in different times. Try to write the day, morning, afternoon or night below each picture.
Ss: OK.
Then T checks the answers.
Activity4: Listening and imitating.
Listening to the material sentence by sentence, at this time, students should repeat after the tape to imitate it’s tone and intonation.
T: Now, please listen the tape and read loudly after it, pay attention to it’s tone and intonation.
Ss: OK!.
Activity5: Role-play
T shows different pictures in 1a. SB asks SA the question. Make conversations according to 1c.
B: What did you do last weekend, Lucy?
A: Well, on Saturday morning, I played badminton.
Step 3: Production (12mins)
Activity1: Making a survey
T asks Ss to make a survey about the activities of their classmates did on last weekends and fill in the following form and then T invites someone to share his/her survey results.

T sums up the law of the Past tense of verb. Then asks Ss change following words into past forms:

After class reflection
In this class, a lot of activities are organized, so Ss will be interested in class and pay attention to the class. Though above activities, Ss can talk about their weekends with others. It is difficult for students to understand grammar in English. So I tried to consolidate the past tense of verb by different kinds of practices.
