Like
all
big
cities,
Paris
has
a
traffic
problem:
lots
of
cars,
lots
of
traffic
jams
and
lots
of
pollution
from
exhaust
fumes.
So
the
city
began
a
scheme(计划)
to
improve
the
situation.
Under
the
Velib
scheme
(‘Velib’
comes
from
vélo
liberté,
or
‘bicycle
freedom’)
people
can
take
a
bicycle,
use
it
for
as
long
as
they
want,
and
then
leave
it
at
the
same
or
another
bicycle
station.
The
first
half-hour
on
the
bike
is
free,
but
if
you
don’t
return
it
after
30
minutes,
you
have
to
pay.
But
it’s
only
?
1
a
day
or
?
29
a
year!
The
bicycles
are
heavy
(25
kg),
and
they
are
all
grey
and
have
baskets.
There
are
about
20,000
of
them
in
the
city,
and
around
1,450
bicycle
stations.
So
there
are
a
lot
more
Velib
stations
than
the
298
subway
stations!
Paris爄s
not
the
first
city
to
have
a
scheme
like
this.
But
not
everybody
thinks
it抯
a
great
idea.
One
Parisian
said,
揟hese
bicycles
are
only
for
short
journeys.
If
people
want
to
travel
across
the
city,
they
won抰
use
a
bicycle
theyll
still
use
their
cars.
A
city
spokesman
said,
揟he
bicycle
scheme
won抰
solve
all
our
traffic
problems,
of
course.
But
it
might
help
reduce
air
pollution.
Traffic,
together
with
factory
fumes,
is
a
big
problem.
There
aren抰
any
simple
answers
to
traffic
problems
and
pollution
in
cities.
But
unless
we
do
something
now,
there
will
be
more
traffic
jams
and
temperatures
will
continue
to
rise,
so
the
problems
in
our
environment
will
get
worse.
The
bikes
might
help
people
to
lead
a
healthier
life,
too..
24.
What
can
we
learn
about
the
Velib
scheme?
A.
Its
bikes
have
no
baskets.
B.
Its
bikes
are
light
and
colorful.
C.
It
aims
to
make
traveling
easier.
D.
It
owns
more
stations
than
the
subway.
25.
If
you
use
a
Velib
for
1
hour,
you
should
pay
_____.
A.
?
1
B.
?
30
C.
?
29
D.no
money
26.
Why
do
some
people
disagree
with
the
Velib
scheme?
A.
The
cost
is
rather
high.
B.
It's
hard
to
find
a
Velib
station.
C.
It's
not
suitable
for
a
long
journey.
D.
The
distance
between
two
Velib
stations
is
long.
27.
What’s
the
city
spokesman’s
attitude
towards
the
bicycle
scheme?
A.Positive.
B.Doubtful.
C.Uncaring.
D.Worried.
C
California
has
lost
half
its
big
trees
since
the
1930s,
according
to
a
study
to
be
published
Tuesday
and
climate
change
seems
to
be
a
major
factor(因素).
The
number
of
trees
larger
than
two
feet
across
has
decreased
by
50
percent
on
more
than
46,
000
square
miles
of
California
forests,
the
new
study
finds.
No
area
was
spared
or
unaffected,
from
the
foggy
northern
coast
to
the
Sierra
Nevada
Mountains
to
the
San
Gabriels
above
Los
Angeles.
In
the
Sierra
high
country,
the
number
of
big
trees
has
fallen
by
more
than
55
percent;
in
parts
of
southern
California
the
decrease
was
nearly
75
percent.
Many
factors
led
to
the
decrease,
said
Patrick
Mclntyre,
an
ecologist
who
was
the
lead
author
of
the
study.
Woodcutters
targeted
big
trees.
Housing
development
pushed
into
the
woods.
Aggressive
wildfire
control
has
left
California
forests
crowded
with
small
trees
that
compete
with
big
trees
for
resources(资源).
But
in
comparing
a
study
of
California
forests
done
in
the
1920s
and
1930s
with
another
one
between
2001
and
2010,
Mclntyre
and
his
colleagues
documented
a
widespread
death
of
big
trees
that
was
evident
even
in
wildlands
protected
from
woodcutting
or
development.
The
loss
of
big
trees
was
greatest
in
areas
where
trees
had
suffered
the
greatest
water
shortage.
The
researchers
figured
out
water
stress
with
a
computer
model
that
calculated
how
much
water
trees
were
getting
in
comparison
with
how
much
they
needed,
taking
into
consideration
such
things
as
rainfall,
air
temperature,
dampness
of
soil,
and
the
timing
of
snowmelt(融雪).
Since
the
1930s,
Mclntyre
said,
the
biggest
factors
driving
up
water
stress
in
the
state
have
been
rising
temperatures,
which
cause
trees
to
lose
more
water
to
the
air,
and
earlier
snowmelt,
which
reduces
the
water
supply
available
to
trees
during
the
dry
season.
28.
What
is
the
second
paragraph
mainly
about?
A.
The
seriousness
of
big-tree
loss
in
California.
B.
The
increasing
variety
of
California
big
trees.
C.
The
distribution
of
big
trees
in
California
forests.
D.
The
influence
of
farming
on
big
trees
in
California.
29.
Which
of
the
following
is
well-intentioned
but
may
be
bad
for
big
trees?
A.
Ecological
studies
of
forests.
B.
Banning
woodcutting.
C.
Limiting
housing
development.
D.
Fire
control
measures.
30.
What
is
a
major
cause
of
the
water
shortage
according
to
Mclntyre?
A.
Inadequate
snowmelt.
B.A
longer
dry
season.
C.A
warmer
climate.
D.
Dampness
of
the
air.
31.
What
can
be
a
suitable
title
for
the
text?
A.

Credit
cards
(信用卡)
are
a
recent
invention,
which
dates
back
to
the
middle
of
the
20th
century.
Although
buying
based
on
credit
was
common
by
the
end
of
the
1800s,
the
current
plastic
card
dates
back
to
a
single
person.
Its
wide
use
was
encouraged
by
another
person
who
built
on
the
idea
of
the
original
inventor.
While
payment
based
on
credit
has
existed
since
the
late
19th
century,
it
was
John
Biggins
who
invented
the
plastic
card
we
use
today.?John
Biggins
was
a
banker
in
Brooklyn,
New
York.
Seeking
to
make
the
credit
buying
process
much
simpler,
Biggins
invented
the
"Charge-It"
card
in
1946.
The
card
was
available
(可用的)
only
to
customers
of
Biggins’
bank,
where
bills
would
be
forwarded
(转交)
after
purchase.
Biggins’
bank
would
then
pay
the
money
to
the
businessmen,
and
the
bank
customers
would
deliver
payment
at
a
later
date.
In
its
original
form,
the
card
could
only
be
used
locally.
While
the
invention
of
the
plastic
credit
card
can
be
attributed
to
John
Biggins,
Frank
McNamara
discovered
the
first
popular
use
of
the
card
in
1949.
McNamara
was
eating
dinner
at
a
New
York
City
restaurant,
but
he
realized
that
he
had
forgotten
his
wallet
when
the
bill
arrived.燗fter
this
experience,
McNamara
decided
that
credit
cards
should
be
allowed
in
many
places.
Thus,
with
McNamara抯
creation
of
the
"Diners
Club"
card,
the
payment
method
became
popular.
Soon,
credit
cards
were
being
used
in
a
variety
of
entertainment
and
restaurant
venues.
Today,
credit
cards
are
widely
accepted
in
many
businesses
and
restaurants.
While
popularized
by
Frank
McNamara,
these
plastic
wonders
owe
their
lives
to
the
vision
of
a
modest
banker
in
Brooklyn,
New
York.
Now
you
know
whom
to
thank
whenever
you
run
out
of
spare
cash
and
need
to
pay
a
bill
right
away.

从短文后各题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,
选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。
Once
upon
a
time
there
lived
an
old
man
in
a
nice
cottage
with
a
large
garden.
The
old
man
was
seen
41 his
flowers
all
the
time.
They
were
so
well-tended
that
every
passer-by
could
not
but
42 for
a
glance.
One
day
a
young
man
went
by
the
garden.
He
gazed
at
the
splendid
garden,
43
in
admiration
for
the
beauty
of
these
sceneries.
Then,
suddenly
he 44 the
old
gardener
was
blind.
45 ,
the
young
man
asked,
"Why
are
you
busy
tending
these
flowers
every
day
which
you
can’t
46 in
fact?"
The
old
man
smiled
and
answered
that
"I
can
tell
you
47
reasons.
First
I
was
a
48
when
I
was
young,
and
I
really
like
this
job.
Second,
although
I
can’t
see
these
flowers,
yet
I
can
49 them.
Third,
I
can
smell
the
sweetness
of
them.
As
to
the
last
one,
that’s
50 ."
"Me?
But
you
don’t
know
me,"
responded
the
young
man
51 .
"Yeah,
it’s
52 that
I
don’t
know
you.
But
I
know
everyone
loves
flowers
and
would
never
53 them
down.
I
know
the
beauty
of
my
garden
will
get
many
people
into
a
good 54 .In
the
meantime,
it
also
55 a
chance
to
me
to
have
a
word
with
you
here
and
to
enjoy
the
happiness
these
flowers
have
brought
us."
The
old
man’s
56 astonished
me.
The
blind
man
grows
flowers
and
57 them
as
a
link
of
minds
so
as
to
make
58 enjoy
the
sunshine
in
spring.
Isn’t
it
one
kind
of
happiness?
I
believe
every
flower
has
59 with
which
people
can
see
the
kindness
of
the
old
man’s
heart.
The
blind
man
grows
flowers
in
his
heart.
Though
60 to
see
the
beauty
of
blossoming,
he
surely
can
hear
the
voice
of
it,
I
suppose.

M:
Qureshi
lives
in
the
city
of
Karachi.
It
is
a
city
in
Pakistan.
It
is
one
of
the
hottest
places
on
Earth.
In
2015,
more
than
1,000
people
there
died
because
of
the
extremely
hot
weather.
Qureshi
believed
he
wanted
to
do
something
about
it.
W:
So
what
does
the
group
mainly
do?
M:
It
plants
trees
in
cities
across
Pakistan.
For
its
first
project,
Urban
Forest
planted
about
1,300
trees
in
a
park
in
Karachi.
Qureshi
hopes
the
park
will
become
a
forest
of
50,000
trees
one
day.

W:
Hi,
David.
There
is
a
new
gym
opening
in
town
today.
Would
you
like
to
go
with
me
this
afternoon?
M:
Yes,
more
than
glad
to.
W:
They
sent
me
an
invitation
with
a
note
saying
I
could
take
a
friend
free
on
the
first
day.
Also,
if
we
both
sign
up
before
Friday,
there
is
20
percent
off
on
the
six-month
membership.
M:
Great.
But
I抦
not
sure
which
gym
equipment
is
suitable
for
me.
W:
Well,
I
think
you
can
try
lifting
weights
and
do
at
least
200
sit-ups
twice
a
day.
M:
I抳e
never
tried
weight-lifting
before.
Is
it
dangerous?
W:
No.
Don抰
worry.
I抣l
show
you
the
rules.
I
used
to
practice
this
at
another
gym
before
my
membership
ended.
I抣l
be
your
personal
trainer.
M:
Thank
you.
What
other
equipment
do
they
have?
W:
Well,
like
all
gyms,
they
have
all
sorts
of
things
to
help
you
do
exercise,
like
leg
press
machines,
running
machines
and
applied
bicycles.
Now
the
gym
will
be
open
at
noon.
So
can
we
meet
up
in
town
at
1:30
pm?
M:
Perfect.
Applied
bicycles
sound
interesting.
I
think
I抣l
have
a
try.
See
you
there.

I
work
at
a
summer
camp
for
kids
and
I
enjoy
seeing
the
children
do
things
they抳e
never
thought
they
could
do.
Nearly
all
the
kids
know
how
to
windsurf
and
ride
a
horse
before
they
come.
But
things
like
rock
climbing
are
new
experiences
for
most.
The
kids
stay
for
several
weeks
and
some
do
miss
home.
We
don抰
let
them
use
their
mobile
phones
all
the
time.
First,
we
tell
them
they
can
phone
home
after
lunch.
Then
when
they
ask
again,
it
is
usually
after
dinner.
Most
children
are
fine
in
a
couple
of
days
and
at
the
end
of
their
stay,
it抯
amazing
how
many
come
and
thank
us
because
they
have
had
a
great
time.
It抯
not
just
the
children
who
get
lonely.
We
get
parents
who
are
on
the
phone
the
whole
time,
asking
how
their
children
are
getting
on,
which
is
quite
unnecessary.
Some
kids
arrive
dressed
in
smart,
designer,
new
clothes
and
they
sometimes
argue
when
we
tell
them
to
change
into
something
they
don’t
mind
getting
dirty,
but
soon
they
realize
what
we
mean.
二.阅读理解
21.C;
22.B;23.D
24.D;
25.A;
26.C;
27.A
解析:24.细节理解題。根据第二段中The
bicycles
are
heavy
(25
kg),
and
they
are
all
grey
and
have
baskets.可知,A、B
项错误;根据第一段中Paris
has
a
traffic
problem:
lots
of
cars,
lots
of
traffic
jams
and
lots
of
pollution
from
exhaust
fumes.
So
the
city
began
a
plan
to
improve
the
situation.可知,自行车计划的目的是改善交通拥堵和废弃污染的问题,故C项和原文不符;根据第二段中So
there
are
a
lot
more
Velib
stations
than
the
298
subway
stations.可知,自行车车站要比地铁站多得多,故选D项。
25.细节理解题。根据第二段中The
first
half-hour
on
the
bike
is
free,
but
if
you
don't
return
it
after
30
minutes,
you
have
to
pay.
But
it's
only
?
1
a
day
or
?
29
a
year!可知,前半个小时是免费的,超过半小时需要付费,一天1欧元。
因此骑自行车一个小时,需要付费?
1。
26.推理判断题。根据第三段中These
bicycles
are
only
for
short
journeys.可知,这些自行车仅仅适用于短途旅行。由此可推断出,一些人反对自行车计划的原因是自行车不适用长途旅行,故选C项。
27.推理判断题。根据最后一段中城市发言人说的话The
bikes
might
help
people
to
lead
a
healthier
life,
too.
可知,他认为自行车也可能帮助人们过一种更健康的生活。由此可以推断出,他对自行车计划的态度是积极的,故选A项。
28.A;
29.D;
30.C;
31.A
解析:28.段落主旨题。根据文章第二段第三句The
number
of
trees…declined
by
50
percent…more
than
55
percent…75
percent等数字可知,该段主要讲述了加州森林中大树急剧减少的严重性,故选A项。
29.推理判断题。根据第三段第三句Aggressive
wildfire
control…compete
with
…resources可知,由于激进的森林防火措施,虽然一定程度上保护了森林,但同时也导致小树泛滥,与大树争抢资源,从而导致大树数量骤减,所以选D项。
30.细节理解题。根据最后一段Since
the
1930s,
McIntyre
said…have
been
rising
temperatures…reduces
the
water…可知,水资源短缺的一个主因是逐渐上升的气候温度,故选C项。
31.主旨大意题。根据全文可知,主要讲述了美国加州森林中大树数量急剧下降的现象,并分析了原因。由此A项能很好地概括全文。
32.C;
33.C;
34.A;
35.A
解析:32.考查细节理解。从第一段中的"Although
buying
based
on
credit
was
common
by
the
end
of
the
1800s"可知,到19世纪末,除账购物已经是一种比较常见的购物方式了,故选C项。
33.考查细节理解。从第二段中的"Seeking
to
make
the
credit
buying
process
much
simpler,
Biggins
invented
the
Charge-It
card
in
1946"可知,John
Biggins发明"Charge-It"卡的目的是简化赊账购物的程序,故选C项。
34.考查细节理解。根据第三段的内容可知,Frank
McNamara最大的贡献是推广了信用卡的使用。
35.A【解题思路】考查主旨大意。根据文章的内容可知,文章主要介绍了对信用卡的发明、发展和推广起到重要作用的两个人,故选A项.
三.七选五:DGEAF
解析:本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了北美的五大湖区,其中包括湖的形成、经济价值、媒乐和旅游、历史和现状等。
36.?D
根据下句“The
others
form
a
natural
border
between
the
United
Stales
and
Canada.”可知,此处是说只有密歇根湖完全位于美国。
37.?G
根据下文中的“Groundwater
makes
up
most
of
the
rest.
”
可知应选G项,五大湖的水人多数来自全年的雨水和雪水。
38.?E
根据下文中的“Much
of
the
coal
produced
in
the
Appalachian
coal
fields
is
brought
to
the
Great
Lakes
by
train
where
it
is
sent
to
other
areas.
”可知这里说的是物资的运输。E项符合语境。
39.?A根据下文可知,本段主要介绍五大湖的旅游和娱乐资源。故选A。
40.?F该部分涉及的内容包括五大湖的历史?,下文是二十世纪的情况,设空处应谈到二十世纪以前的情况。

well-tended"可知,老人一直在精心照料花园里的花,故选C。

43.keep"保留";drop"落下";catch"突然遭受";lose"丢失"。从语境可以判断,这个年轻人看着花园,沉浸在其中,赞赏不已。be
lost
in是固定短语,意为"沉浸于",故选D。

45.excited"兴奋的";frightened"害怕的";shocked"感到震惊的";satisfied"满意的"。由常识可知,当年轻人看到一位失明的老人竟然把花园管理得这么美的时候,他感到非常吃惊,故选C。
46.因为老人是个盲人,所以老人看不见自己培育出的这些花,故选B。
47.根据下文中的First,
Second,
Third和"As
to
the
last
one"可知,老人一共说了四个原因,故选D。
48.gardener"园艺工人";teacher"老师";farmer"农民";painter"油漆匠"。此处为老人给出的第一个理由,由后面的"I
really
like
this
job"可推断出老人年轻的时候是个园艺工人。故选A。

50.根据下文中年轻人的回答"Me?
But
you
don’t
know
me"可知,老人指的是年轻人,故选D。
51.with
pleasure"很愿意";in
surprise"吃惊地";with
fear"害怕地";in
anger"生气地"。根据上文中年轻人的话"Me?
But
you
don’t
know
me"可以判断出年轻人非常吃惊,选B。
52.通过上文内容可知,老人不认识年轻人是真实的情况,所以选A。
53.根据上下文可知人们喜欢老人种的花,从而会情不自禁地驻足欣赏,所以人们是不会拒绝美丽的花的,turn
down"拒绝",选B。
54.由常识可知,美好的事物会让人们心情舒畅,固定短语in
a
good
mood表示"心情好",故选D。
55.introduce"介绍";offer"提供";stand"忍受,站";leave"离开"。此处表示它也给我提供了一个与你在这儿交谈的机会,根据语境可知选B。

57.treat…as…"把……看作,把……视为";act
as/like…"充当,起作用";work
as…"从事……工作";serve
as…"可用作,可当……使(尤指别无选择时)"。根据上文内容可知,老人种花是把花当作了传递思想的纽带,故选A。
58.根据上文内容可知美丽的花会让每个人的心情都变得美好愉悦,故选C。
59.根据后面的see可知答案是C,意思是每朵花都有眼睛,通过这双眼睛人们可以看到老人内心的善良。
60.refuse"拒绝";try"尝试";pretend"假装";fail"失败"。此处指老人看不到花开时的美丽,fail
to
do"没能做某事",其他不符合语境,选D。
