B
The
first
time
you
hear
somebody
mention
O.
Henry,
you
might
think
they’re
talking
about
some
guy
named
Henry
(Oh,
Henry!),
rather
than
referring
to
a
particular
person.
But
yes,
there
is
an
important
author
named
O.
Henry.
Well,
he’s
not
really
named
O.
Henry—that
was
just
a
pen
name
for
the
man
whose
real
name
was
William
Sydney
Porter.
And
though
he
might
not
be
quite
as
crazily
popular
as
he
was
a
hundred
years
ago
when
he
was
writing,
he’s
still
considered
one
of
the
greatest
American
short
story
authors.
He
was
good
at
telling
stories
of
everyday
people.
Despite
the
great
popularity
of
the
nearly
300
stories
he
published,
he
had
a
hard
life,
struggling
with
financial
(金融的)
problems
and
alcoholism
(酗酒)
until
his
death.
O.
Henry’s
stories
are
known
for
the
warmth
that
shines
through
many
of
them,
their
playful
and
positive
sense
of
humor,
and
especially
for
their
surprising
endings.
In
1904,
O.
Henry’s
first
story
collection,
Cabbages
and
Kings,
was
published.
Additional
collections
appeared
in
1906
and
1907,
and
two
collections
a
year
were
published
from
1908
until
his
death,
in
1910.
“The
Gift
of
the
Magi”
was
in
O.
Henry’s
second
collection
of
short
stories,
The
Four
Million.
It’s
about
a
poor
but
devoted
couple
who
are
willing
to
give
up
what
means
the
most
to
them
to
buy
a
gift
for
the
other.
“The
Gift
of
the
Magi”
is
probably
his
greatest
hit,
and
shows
all
of
the
major
O.
Henry
characteristics.
Since
it
was
first
published,
it’s
buried
itself
deep
in
popular
culture.
It’s
been
retold
and
repackaged
in
many
stories,
magazine
columns,
TV
specials,
musicals,
movies,
parodies,
you
name
it.
It’s
also
one
of
those
classic
“Christmas
stories”
that
people
usually
read
during
the
holidays.
But
even
if
you
know
well
about
one
or
more
of
the
many
imitations—
whether
it’s
the
Sesame
Street
holiday
special
or
The
Simpsons—it’s
worth
reading
again.

D.
In

7.
What
does
the
underlined
sentence
in
the
last
paragraph
mean?
A.
It
has
enjoyed
great
popularity
with
us.
B.
It
becomes
a
new
form
of
popular
culture.

culture.

C
This
winter,
there’s
a
good
chance
you
might
be
looking
for
anything
and
everything
to
say
goodbye
to
a
terrible
cold.
You
may
want
to
add
yogurt
to
your
list
of
cold-fighting
diets.
“When
it
comes
to
yogurt,
I’d
say
there’s
not
a
lot
of
research
that
we
can
point
to
that
shows
yogurt
reduces
a
cold,”
said
Mickey
Rubin,
vice
president
of
nutrition
research
for
the
National
Dairy
Council.
“But,
there
are
some
things
(in
yogurt)
that
might
be
beneficial.
For
example,
yogurt
is
full
of
probiotics,
which
can
help
improve
the
immune
(免疫的)
system.”
Studies
that
have
looked
at
probiotics
have
found
promising
results
in
terms
of
reducing
colds.
However,
benefits
can
only
be
caused
by
the
actual
strains
(菌株)
studied—which
traditional
yogurt
do
not
necessarily
have,
according
to
Rubin.
For
example,
traditional
yogurt
contains
Lactobacillus
bulgaricus
and
Streptococcus
thermophilus—two
cultures
that
are
key
to
making
yogurt,
and
as
such
are
known
as
“starter
cultures.”
While
these
are
beneficial
bacteria,
they
are
not
necessarily
the
same
probiotics
that
have
been
studied
in
the
experiments,
according
to
Rubin.
“We
know
yogurt
is
a
nutritious
food
choice
and
we
know
probiotics
are
good
for
health,
so
including
them
in
an
overall
healthy
eating
plan
makes
sense,
but
suggesting
them
specifically
for
the
common
cold
would
be
too
early,”
said
Rubin.
Though
the
ability
of
yogurt
to
help
fight
a
cold
is,
at
best,
theoretical
right
now,
experts
say
there’s
no
good
reason
not
to
choose
yogurt
when
you
have
difficulty
eating.
“I
wouldn’t
only
be
incumbent
on
yogurt
to
fight
the
cold,
but
together
with
a
healthy
diet,
yogurt
may
be
useful,”
said
King.
“Yogurt
is
smooth
and
goes
down
easy,
so
if
you
have
a
sore
throat,
or
even
a
runny
nose,
it’s
comfortable
to
eat,”
added
Rubin.
8.
What’s
Mickey
Rubin’s
attitude
towards
the
role
of
yogurt
in
diets?
A.
Doubtful.
B.
Supportive.
C.
Uncaring.
D.
Critical.
9.
What
does
Paragraph
3
mainly
tell
us?
A
Traditional
yogurt
promises
good
health.
B.
Traditional
yogurt
may
not
prove
useful.
C.
Traditional
yogurt
is
key
to
experiments.
D.
Traditional
yogurt
is
good
for
our
health.
10.
What
does
the
underlined
phrase
“be
incumbent
on”
mean
in
the
last
paragraph?
A.
Depend
on.
B.
Stick
to.
C.
Take
on.
D.
Turn
to.
11.
Which
of
the
following
may
be
the
best
title
for
the
passage?
A.
A
healthy

B.
It’s
easy
to
love

C.
Yogurt

D.
A

D
Trees
and
other
plants
remove
carbon
dioxide
from
the
air
as
they
grow.
To
absorb
it,
and
slow
the
warming,
many
cities
have
been
planting
trees.
Studies
had
shown
forests
readily
take
in
this
gas.
But
there
hadn’t
been
much
data
on
whether
city
trees
grow,
die
and
absorb
carbon
dioxide,
at
the
same
rate
that
forest
trees
do.
So
Lucy
Hutyra
and
her
teammates
at
Boston
University
decided
to
find
out.
The
team
focused
on
trees
growing
on
Boston
streets.
These
grew
four
times
faster
than
did
the
same
species
in
a
nearby
forest.
Over
nine
years,
the
researchers
tracked
these
trees
and
found
that
city
ones
absorbed
four
times
as
much
as
carbon
dioxide
from
the
air
as
did
the
forest
trees.
The
city
trees
also,
however,
were
twice
as
likely
to
die.
So
over
the
lifetime
of
each
tree,
forest
trees
actually
absorbed
more
carbon
dioxide.
City
trees
grew
faster
because
they
had
less
competition
for
light
from
their
neighbors,
Hutyra
says.
Street
trees
also
benefit
from
higher
levels
of
nitrogen
in
rainwater,
she
says.
Nitrogen
is
an
element
that
helps
plants
grow.
It’s
also
an
ingredient
of
the
exhaust
that
gas-burning
cars
send
out
from
their
tailpipes.
That
tailpipe
pollution
enriches
city
air
with
nitrogen,
she
says.
Later,
rainwater
may
wash
much
of
it
to
the
ground.
Some
street
trees
also
may
have
better
access
to
water
than
trees
in
the
country,
Hutyra
notes.
That’s
because
the
underground
water
pipes
can
leak.
So
why
were
Boston’s
street
trees
twice
as
likely
as
their
country
cousins
to
die
young?
Roads
and
sidewalks
can
leave
big-tree
roots
less
room
to
grow.
What’s
more,
homeowners
and
city
planners
often
decide
to
take
down
trees
that
are
sick,
unsightly
or
in
the
way
of
some
structure
or
view.
Shaun
Watmough
is
an
environmental
scientist
at
Trent
University
in
Peterborough,
Canada.
He
says
it’
s
important
to
keep
in
mind
that
people
don’t
plant
city
trees
along
city
streets
just
to
absorb
carbon
dioxide;
trees
also
help
clean
the
air,
provide
shade
and
make
a
city
more
beautiful
-
even
if
it’s
only
for
several
tens
of
years,
not
centuries.

根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Do
you
get
easily
annoyed?
At
times,
does
that
emotion
quickly
turn
into
anger?
____16____
Easily
getting
bent
out
of
shape,
even
angry,
is
my
problem,
too.
It
was
happening
more
than
I
wanted,
so
I
set
a
goal
to
come
up
with
an
easy
system.
Below
are
the
simple
steps
I
use
to
gain
distance
from
irritation(恼怒)and
anger.
10
breaths.
When
you
realize
you
are
experiencing
annoyance
or
anger,
just
breathe.
Ten
slow,
deep,
and
even
breaths
do
wonders.
Sometimes,
the
annoyance
will
pass
in
just
that
time.____17____
Deep
breaths
deliver
more
oxygen
to
your
body,
which
stabilizes
blood
pressure
and
helps
cause
your
body's
relaxation
response.
____18____
Make
use
of
this
step
when
another
person
is
part
of
the
reason
you
are
upset.
Try
hard
to
see
the
situation
from
their
reality
and
find
a
reason
for
their
behavior.
Your
assumption
will
probably
be
rooted
in
a
cause
that's
about
them,
not
you.
Next
time
someone
cuts
you
off
in
traffic,
maybe
you
can
think
about
an
emergency
that
might
be
affecting
their
behavior.
Find
a
funny
thing
in
your
life.
____19____
If
you
can
find
some
humor
in
the
situation,
smiling,
laughing
and
even
being
silly
can
all
relieve
anger
and
annoyance.
It's
not
psychologically
possible
to
experience
two
emotions
at
once.
Seek
solutions.
If
you've
made
it
this
far
up
the
steps
and
you
are
still
really
annoyed,
here's
a
good
(if
seemingly
obvious)
question
to
ask
yourself:
“Is
there
something
I
can
do
to
make
it
better?”
If
you
can
then
come
up
with
a
successful
solution,
so
much
the
better.
If
you
can't,
that's
useful,
too.___20___
A.
You
are
not
alone.
B.
Walk
a
meter
in
their
shoes.
C.
Focus
on
your
own
behavior.
D.
Even
if
it
hasn't,
the
breaths
still
help.
E.
Whatever
the
annoyance,
make
a
joke
about
it.
F.
Taking
action
gets
you
out
into
acting
instead
of
reacting.
G.
Knowing
that
you
can't
change
something
is
the
first
step
in
accepting
it.

读后续写(满分25分)
47.
阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
“How
did
the
tryouts
(试镜)
go,
Shayna?”
Mom
asked
after
school.
“Terrible,”
I
said.
“Kristie
got
Cinderella’s
part!”
“What
part
did
you
get?”
Mom
asked.
“None,”
I
said.
I
ran
to
my
room
and
started
drawing
in
my
sketchbook.
Drawing
always
makes
me
feel
better.
The
next
day,
Kristie
was
very
happy.
But
when
the
last
bell
rang,
her
mood
changed.
“I’m
nervous,
Shayna,”
she
said.
Will
you
come
to
rehearsal
(排练)?”
I
wanted
to
say
no.
Then
I
realized
I
couldn’t
leave
yet.
My
parents
had
signed
me
up
for
the
late
bus
because
I
thought
I’d
be
in
the
play.
“All
right,”
I
said,
“but
only
today.”
In
the
auditorium,
Ms.
Carson
handed
out
copies
of
the
script(剧本)
to
the
cast.
I
sat
in
the
third
row,
wishing
I
were
in
my
room
drawing.
Ms.
Carson
pulled
a
cardboard
castle
onto
the
middle
of
the
stage.
It
was
brown
with
small
windows
and
doors.
Ms.
Carson
turned
on
the
music,
and
Kristie
and
the
Prince
started
dancing.
I
had
to
say,
Kristie
was
really
good.
Ms.
Carson
hit
a
metal
bell
with
a
little
stick
12
times.
Kristie
ran
off
the
stage
and
dropped
her
left
shoe.
The
curtain
came
down.
“Thanks,
everyone,”
said
Ms.
Carson.
“We'’ll
go
through
the
rest
tomorrow.
“When
will
we
get
the
real
sets
(布景)?”
Kristie
pointed
to
the
cardboard
castle.
“These
are
the
real
sets,”
Ms.
Carson
said.
“We
don’t
have
an
art
teacher
this
year.
So
that’s
the
best
we
could
do.”
Kristie
and
I
walked
outside.
“You
were
great,”
I
said.
“Everyone
will
love
the
play.”
“Thanks,”
Kristie
said.
“But
did
you
see
the
sets?”
I
thought
for
a
moment.
“Maybe
there’s
something
we
can
do.”
I
spent
that
evening
drawing.
In
the
morning,
I
stuck
my
sketchbook
into
my
backpack
and
ran
to
the
bus.
The
day
passed
slowly.
Finally,
the
last
bell
rang.
“Thanks
for
yesterday,”
Kristie
said.
“I’ll
see
you
tomorrow.”

B
The
first
time
you
hear
somebody
mention
O.
Henry,
you
might
think
they’re
talking
about
some
guy
named
Henry
(Oh,
Henry!),
rather
than
referring
to
a
particular
person.
But
yes,
there
is
an
important
author
named
O.
Henry.
Well,
he’s
not
really
named
O.
Henry—that
was
just
a
pen
name
for
the
man
whose
real
name
was
William
Sydney
Porter.
And
though
he
might
not
be
quite
as
crazily
popular
as
he
was
a
hundred
years
ago
when
he
was
writing,
he’s
still
considered
one
of
the
greatest
American
short
story
authors.
He
was
good
at
telling
stories
of
everyday
people.
Despite
the
great
popularity
of
the
nearly
300
stories
he
published,
he
had
a
hard
life,
struggling
with
financial
(金融的)
problems
and
alcoholism
(酗酒)
until
his
death.
O.
Henry’s
stories
are
known
for
the
warmth
that
shines
through
many
of
them,
their
playful
and
positive
sense
of
humor,
and
especially
for
their
surprising
endings.
In
1904,
O.
Henry’s
first
story
collection,
Cabbages
and
Kings,
was
published.
Additional
collections
appeared
in
1906
and
1907,
and
two
collections
a
year
were
published
from
1908
until
his
death,
in
1910.
“The
Gift
of
the
Magi”
was
in
O.
Henry’s
second
collection
of
short
stories,
The
Four
Million.
It’s
about
a
poor
but
devoted
couple
who
are
willing
to
give
up
what
means
the
most
to
them
to
buy
a
gift
for
the
other.
“The
Gift
of
the
Magi”
is
probably
his
greatest
hit,
and
shows
all
of
the
major
O.
Henry
characteristics.
Since
it
was
first
published,
it’s
buried
itself
deep
in
popular
culture.
It’s
been
retold
and
repackaged
in
many
stories,
magazine
columns,
TV
specials,
musicals,
movies,
parodies,
you
name
it.
It’s
also
one
of
those
classic
“Christmas
stories”
that
people
usually
read
during
the
holidays.
But
even
if
you
know
well
about
one
or
more
of
the
many
imitations—
whether
it’s
the
Sesame
Street
holiday
special
or
The
Simpsons—it’s
worth
reading
again.

Henry的第二部短篇小说集《四百万》中。)”可以推断出,《麦琪的礼物》是在1906年出版的。故选B项。
【7题详解】
词句猜测题。根据最后一段中划线词句的后文“It’s

it
was
first
published,
it’s
buried
itself
deep
in
popular
culture.
(自从第一次出版以来,it’s

This
winter,
there’s
a
good
chance
you
might
be
looking
for
anything
and
everything
to
say
goodbye
to
a

cold.
You
may

to
add
yogurt
to
your

of
cold-fighting
diets.
“When

said
Mickey
Rubin,

“But,

that
might
be
beneficial.
For

Studies
that
have

promising

in

However,
benefits
can
only
be
caused
by
the
actual

(菌株)
studied—which
traditional
yogurt
do
not
necessarily
have,
according
to
Rubin.
For
example,
traditional
yogurt
contains
Lactobacillus
bulgaricus
and
Streptococcus
thermophilus—two
cultures
that
are
key
to
making
yogurt,
and
as
such
are
known
as
“starter

While
these
are
beneficial
bacteria,
they
are
not
necessarily
the
same
probiotics
that
have
been
studied
in
the
experiments,
according
to
Rubin.
“We
know
yogurt
is
a
nutritious
food
choice
and
we
know
probiotics
are
good
for
health,
so
including
them
in
an
overall
healthy
eating
plan
makes
sense,
but
suggesting
them
specifically
for
the
common
cold
would
be
too
early,”
said
Rubin.
Though
the
ability
of
yogurt
to
help
fight
a
cold
is,
at
best,
theoretical
right
now,
experts
say
there’s
no
good
reason
not
to
choose
yogurt
when
you
have
difficulty
eating.
“I
wouldn’t
only
be
incumbent
on
yogurt
to
fight
the
cold,
but
together
with
a
healthy
diet,
yogurt
may
be
useful,”
said
King.
“Yogurt
is
smooth
and
goes
down
easy,
so
if
you
have
a
sore
throat,
or
even
a
runny
nose,
it’s
comfortable
to
eat,”
added
Rubin.

Doubtful怀疑的;B.
Supportive支持的;C.
Uncaring冷漠的;D.
Critical批判的。故选B。
【9题详解】
主旨大意题。根据文章第三段“However,

【10题详解】
词句猜测题。根据下文“but
together
with
a

D
Trees
and
other
plants
remove
carbon
dioxide
from
the
air
as
they
grow.
To
absorb
it,
and
slow
the
warming,
many
cities
have
been
planting
trees.
Studies
had
shown
forests
readily
take
in
this
gas.
But
there
hadn’t
been
much
data
on
whether
city
trees
grow,
die
and
absorb
carbon
dioxide,
at
the
same
rate
that
forest
trees
do.
So
Lucy
Hutyra
and
her
teammates
at
Boston
University
decided
to
find
out.
The
team
focused
on
trees
growing
on
Boston
streets.
These
grew
four
times
faster
than
did
the
same
species
in
a
nearby
forest.
Over
nine
years,
the
researchers
tracked
these
trees
and
found
that
city
ones
absorbed
four
times
as
much
as
carbon
dioxide
from
the
air
as
did
the
forest
trees.
The
city
trees
also,
however,
were
twice
as
likely
to
die.
So
over
the
lifetime
of
each
tree,
forest
trees
actually
absorbed
more
carbon
dioxide.
City
trees
grew
faster
because
they
had
less
competition
for
light
from
their
neighbors,
Hutyra
says.
Street
trees
also
benefit
from
higher
levels
of
nitrogen
in
rainwater,
she
says.
Nitrogen
is
an
element
that
helps
plants
grow.
It’s
also
an
ingredient
of
the
exhaust
that
gas-burning
cars
send
out
from
their
tailpipes.
That
tailpipe
pollution
enriches
city
air
with
nitrogen,
she
says.
Later,
rainwater
may
wash
much
of
it
to
the
ground.
Some
street
trees
also
may
have
better
access
to
water
than
trees
in
the
country,
Hutyra
notes.
That’s
because
the
underground
water
pipes
can
leak.
So
why
were
Boston’s
street
trees
twice
as
likely
as
their
country
cousins
to
die
young?
Roads
and
sidewalks
can
leave
big-tree
roots
less
room
to
grow.
What’s
more,
homeowners
and
city
planners
often
decide
to
take
down
trees
that
are
sick,
unsightly
or
in
the
way
of
some
structure
or
view.

【解析】
【分析】这是一篇说明文。本文阐述了在过去的十年里,美国汽车创新的中心已经转移到了2000英里以外的地方,密歇根州的立法者们提出了一项立法,为自动驾驶技术的商业应用做好准备。
【36题详解】
考查时态。句意:在过去的十年里,美国汽车创新的中心已经转移到了2000英里以外的地方。根据时间状语“in
the
past
decade”可知,该句谓语动词应该使用现在完成时has
moved。故填
has
moved。
【37题详解】
考查定语从句关系词。句意:它已经从底特律迁移到了硅谷,在那里自动驾驶汽车开始出现。分析句子结构可知,这是一个非限制性定语从句,先行词是Silicon
Valley,在从句中作地点状语,该空应该填关系副词where。
【38题详解】
考查形容词最高级。句意:为了将汽车生产带回底特律,密歇根州的立法者们提出了一项立法,使他们的州成为如果不是全世界,也是美国发展自动驾驶汽车并使其上路的最好地方。根据该空后的“place
in
the
country,
if
not
the
world,”可知,比较的范围是美国或者全世界的所有城市,因此,该空应该使用good的最高级the
best。故填the
best。
【39题详解】
考查定冠词。句意:“密歇根州在汽车研发方面的角色正受到几个州和国家的抨击,这些州和国家希望取代我们在交通领域的领导地位。分析句意可知,该句特指“密歇根州在交通领域的领导地位”,“取代……的位置”是take
the
place
of。故填the。
【40题详解】
考查副词。句意:“我们不能让这种情况发生,”参议员迈克·科沃尔说,他是最近提出的四项法案的主要发起人。分析句子结构可知,修饰动词introduced用副词recently在句中作状语。故填recently。
【41题详解】
考查as引导状语从句省略。句意:如果这四项被写的法案都能通过,那将是密歇根州2013年法律的重要更新,该法律允许在有限的条件下测试自动驾驶车辆。分析句子结构可知,这是一个方式状语从句,从句中主语four
bills与谓语动词write是被动关系,因此,从句应该使用被动语态并省略了主语和be动词,故填written。
【42题详解】
考查固定短语。句意:制造商将几乎完全有自由在公共道路上测试他们的自动驾驶技术。短语have
freedom
to
do
sth.
意为“拥有做某事的自由”,因此该空应该填to
test。故填to
test。
【43题详解】
考查被动语态。句意:他们将被允许在跨州公路旅行中发送一组自动驾驶汽车,甚至按需设置一排自动驾驶汽车,就像通用汽车和来福车正在开发的那样。分析句子结构可知,主语They和allow之间是被动关系,故该句应用被动语态,再根据该空前的would后跟动词原形可知,该空应该填be
allowed。
【44题详解】
考查固定搭配。句意:相比之下,硅谷所在地加利福尼亚州提出了更严格的规定,要求人工驾驶者为自动驾驶技术的商业应用做好准备。根据句意,短语in
contrast
或者
by
contrast意为“相比之下”,该空缺少介词in或者by,句首首字母大写。故填In/By。
【45题详解】
考查名词。句意:相比之下,硅谷所在地加利福尼亚州提出了更严格的规定,要求人工驾驶者为自动驾驶技术的商业应用做好准备。空格前for为介词,后接名词作宾语,由形容词commercial修饰。apply的名词形式是application,故填application。

阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
“How
did
the
tryouts
(试镜)
go,
Shayna?”
Mom
asked
after
school.
“Terrible,”
I
said.
“Kristie
got
Cinderella’s
part!”
“What
part
did
you
get?”
Mom
asked.
“None,”
I
said.
I
ran
to
my
room
and
started
drawing
in
my
sketchbook.
Drawing
always
makes
me
feel
better.
The
next
day,
Kristie
was
very
happy.
But
when
the
last
bell
rang,
her
mood
changed.
“I’m
nervous,
Shayna,”
she
said.
Will
you
come
to
rehearsal
(排练)?”
I
wanted
to
say
no.
Then
I
realized
I
couldn’t
leave
yet.
My
parents
had
signed
me
up
for
the
late
bus
because
I
thought
I’d
be
in
the
play.
“All
right,”
I
said,
“but
only
today.”
In
the
auditorium,
Ms.
Carson
handed
out
copies
of
the
script(剧本)
to
the
cast.
I
sat
in
the
third
row,
wishing
I
were
in
my
room
drawing.
Ms.
Carson
pulled
a
cardboard
castle
onto
the
middle
of
the
stage.
It
was
brown
with
small
windows
and
doors.
Ms.
Carson
turned
on
the
music,
and
Kristie
and
the
Prince
started
dancing.
I
had
to
say,
Kristie
was
really
good.
Ms.
Carson
hit
a
metal
bell
with
a
little
stick
12
times.
Kristie
ran
off
the
stage
and
dropped
her
left
shoe.
The
curtain
came
down.
“Thanks,
everyone,”
said
Ms.
Carson.
“We'’ll
go
through
the
rest
tomorrow.
“When
will
we
get
the
real
sets
(布景)?”
Kristie
pointed
to
the
cardboard
castle.
“These
are
the
real
sets,”
Ms.
Carson
said.
“We
don’t
have
an
art
teacher
this
year.
So
that’s
the
best
we
could
do.”
Kristie
and
I
walked
outside.
“You
were
great,”
I
said.
“Everyone
will
love
the
play.”
“Thanks,”
Kristie
said.
“But
did
you
see
the
sets?”
I
thought
for
a
moment.
“Maybe
there’s
something
we
can
do.”
I
spent
that
evening
drawing.
In
the
morning,
I
stuck
my
sketchbook
into
my
backpack
and
ran
to
the
bus.
The
day
passed
slowly.
Finally,
the
last
bell
rang.
“Thanks
for
yesterday,”
Kristie
said.
“I’ll
see
you
tomorrow.”

They

Over
the

Everyone

For
me!
I
never
thought
that
I
would
get
a
chance
to
stand
on
the
stage!
But
I
did
get
a
part
in
the
play
after
all.
And
it
was
just
as
good
as
being
Cinderella.
