When
tragedy
strikes,
some
people
fall
into
deep
depression
(抑郁)
sometimes
losing
hope
and
even
the
will
to
carry
on.
They
may
worry
continuously
about
the
disaster
and
suffer
nightmares.
Other
people,
however,
react
differently.
Instead
of
becoming
depressed
and
unable
to
cope,
they
are
able
to
deal
with
painful
experiences
and
move
on.
Boris
Cyrulnik
is
interested
in
this
difference
of
reaction.
To
find
out
why
some
people
are
so
deeply
affected,
while
others
are
seemingly
able
to
recover,
he
has
devoted
his
career
to
the
study
of
psychological
resilience
(复原力).
Cyrulnik
found
resilience
is
a
quality
that
builds
through
a
natural
process.
He
says
that
alone,
a
child
has
no
resilience.
We
build
resilience
from
developing
relationships.
Positive
emotions
and
humour
are
key
factors
in
resilience.
Cyrulnik's
research
has
shown
that
people
who
are
better
able
to
deal
with
life's
difficulties
or
traumas
(创伤)are
able
to
find
meaning
in
hardship,
seeing
it
as
a
useful
and
inspiring
experience,
and
even
to
find
ways
to
laugh.
Resilient
people
always
remain
able
to
see
how
things
may
turn
out
for
the
better
in
the
future,
even
if
the
present
is
painful.
It
had
previously
been
thought
that
people
who
show
more
resilience
are
less
emotional
in
general,
but
Cyrulnik
believed
that
the
pain
is
no
less
for
resilient
people
than
it
is
for
others;
it
is
a
matter
of
how
they
choose
to
use
it.
The
pain
may
continue,
even
over
a
whole
lifetime,
but
for
these
people
it
raises
a
challenge
that
they
decide
to
meet.
The
challenge
is
to
overcome
what
has
happened,
to
find
strength
in
the
experience
instead
of
letting
it
defeat
them,
and
to
use
the
strength
to
move
forward.
Given
the
right
support,
children
are
especially
able
to
complete
recovery
from
trauma.
Cyrulnik
has
shown
that
the
human
brain
is
easily
influenced
and
will
recover
if
allowed.
If
a
child
is
well
supported
and
loved
after
the
trauma,
his
brain
is
able
to
return
to
normal
within
a
year.
Cyrulnik
thinks
it
important
not
to
label
(贴标)
children
who
have
suffered
a
trauma,
misleading
them
to
a
hopeless
future.
Trauma
consists
of
two
things:
the
injury
and
the
repeated
description
of
that
injury.
Often
the
most
damaging
post-traumatic
experience
for
children
is
experiencing
embarrassing
adult
descriptions
of
events.
Labels,
he
says,
can
be
more
damaging
than
the
experience.
4.
According
to
Cyrulnik's
research,
resilient
people
are________
A
patient
and
forgiving.
B.
sensitive
and
controlling.
C.
optimistic
and
humorous.
D.
considerate
and
committed.
5.
What's
Cyrulnik's
attitude
towards
children
with
traumas?
A.
They
should
be
treated
differently.
B.
They
should
be
labeled
as
poor
little
ones.
C.
They
should
be
given
the
right
support.
D.
They
should
be
helped
to
accept
the
reality.
6.
What
does
Cyrulnik's
research
find?
A.
Resilience
is
a
person's
ability
to
grow
in
the
face
of
terrible
problems.
B.
Resilience
is
found
in
less
emotional
people
in
general.
C.
Resilience
is
built
either
by
being
alone
or
communicating
with
others.
D.
Resilience
is
a
person's
power
to
avoid
painful
experiences.
7.
From
which
is
the
text
probably
taken?
A.
A
biology
textbook.
B.
A
travel

C.
A

D.

magazine.

这是一篇说明文。这是一篇有关心理学中心理复原力的研究,指出良好的复原力可以让人更好地面对挫折,并且指出受过创伤的孩子应该得到很好的支持和爱来使自己的大脑得到恢复。
【4题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段中“Positive
emotions
and
humour
are
key
factors
in
resilience.
(积极情绪和幽默是复原力的关键因素)”可知乐观和幽默是复原力的重要因素,可以得出有复原力的人是乐观且幽默的。故选C。
【5题详解】
推理判断题。根据倒数第二段最后一行“If

the
trauma,
his
brain
is

return
to
normal
within
a

(如果一个孩子在创伤后得到了很好的支持和爱,他的大脑在一年内就能恢复正常)”可知受过创伤的孩子得到很好的支持和爱就能很快复原自己的大脑,由此可以得出Cyrulnik的态度是受过创伤的孩子应该得到正确的支持。故选C。
【6题详解】
细节理解题。根据文章第三段开头“Cyrulnik
found
resilience
is

(Cyrulnik发现复原力是一种通过自然过程构建的品质)”以及第四段中“Positive

”可知,复原力是人们在自然过程中建立的一种能力。积极的情绪和幽默感是复原力的关键因素,复原力强的的人在困难或创伤过程中仍然保持积极情绪甚至想办法笑的人,因此推断复原力是一个人在面对可怕的问题时成长的能力。故选A。
【7题详解】
推理判断题。根据第二段中“To

On
the
night
of
June
seventeenth,
happily
unaware
that
I
was
now
less
than
forty-eight
hours
from
my
little
“date”
with
Bryan
Smith,
I
sat
down
at
our
dining
room
table
and
listed
all
the
questions
I
wanted
to
answer,
all
the
points
I
wanted
to
address
in
my
book
On
Writing-A
Memoir
of
the
Craft.
On
the
eighteenth,
I
wrote
the
first
four
pages
of
the
“On
Writing”
section.
That
was
where
my
writing
still
stood
in
late
July,
when
I
decided
I'd
better
get
back
to
work...
or
at
least
try.
My
wife
Tabby
is
the
person
in
my
life
who's
most
likely
to
say
I'm
working
too
hard,
it's
time
to
slow
down,
stay
away
from
that
disgusting
PowerBook
for
a
little
while.
When
I
told
her
on
that
July
morning
that
I
thought
I'd
better
go
back
to
work,
I
expected
a
lecture.
Instead,
she
asked
me
where
I
wanted
to
set
up.
She
thought
about
it,
and
said:
"I
can
lay
a
table
for
you
in
the
back
hall.
There
are
plenty
of
plugins
so
you
can
have
your
laptop,
the
little
printer,
and
a
fan.
"A
couple
of
hours
later,
she
had
made
me
a
wonderful
little
nest
there:
laptop
and
printer,
my
notes,
pens,
and
reference
materials...Standing
on
the
corner
of
the
desk
was
a
framed
picture
of
our
younger
son,
which
she
had
taken
earlier
that
summer.
“Is
it
all
right?”
she
asked.
“It's
wonderful,”
I
said,
and
hugged
her.
It
was
wonderful.
So
is
she.
That
first
writing
session
lasted
an
hour
and
forty
minutes,
by
far
the
longest
period
I'd
spent
sitting
upright
since
being
struck
by
Bryan
Smith's
car.
When
it
was
over,
I
was
sweating
and
almost
too
tired
to
sit
up
straight
in
my
wheelchair.
And
the
first
five
hundred
words
were
uniquely
terrifying--it
was
as
if
I'd
never
written
anything
before
them
in
my
life.
All
my
old
tricks
seemed
to
have
deserted
me.
I
stepped
from
one
word
to
the
next
like
a
very
old
man
finding
his
way
across
a
stream
on
a
winding
line
of
wet
stones.
There
was
no
inspiration
that
first
afternoon,
only
a
kind
of
stubborn
determination
and
the
hope
that
things
would
get
better
I
kept
at
it.
There
was
no
breakthrough
that
afternoon,
unless
it
was
the
ordinary
miracle
that
comes
with
any
attempt
to
create
something.
All
I
know
is
that
the
words
started
coming
a
little
faster
after
a
while,
then
a
little
faster
still.
My
back
still
hurt,
my
leg,
too,
but
those
hurts
began
to
seem
a
little
farther
away.
I
started
to
get
on
top
of
them.
There
was
no
sense
of
excitement-
not
that
day-but
there
was
a
sense
of
accomplishment
that
was
almost
as
good.
After
that,things
can
only
get
better.

【解析】
这是一篇记叙文。主要讲述作者出车祸后重新拾笔写作那一天的心理活动和感受。
【8题详解】
推理判断题。根据文章第一段开头“On
the
night
of
June
seventeenth,happily
unaware
that
I
was
now
less
than
forty-eight
hours
from
my
little“date”with
Bryan
Smith.
(6月17日晚,高兴的是,我没有意识到自己离和布Bryan
Smith的小“见面”还不到四十八小时的时间)
”可知,作者遇到Bryan
Smith是在6月19日。根据第六段中“That
first
writing
session
lasted
an
hour
and
forty
minutes,
by
far
the
longest
period
I'd
spent
sitting
upright
since
being
struck
by
Bryan
Smith's
car.
(第一次写作持续了一小时四十分钟,这是我被Bryan
Smith的车撞倒后直坐着的时间最长的一次)”,可知作者是被Bryan
Smith的车撞了。综合可知,作者在6月19日这天,和Bryan
Smith的“见面”,是作者被Bryan
Smith的车撞了,故选D。
【9题详解】
细节理解题。根据第一段中“That
was
where
my
writing
still
stood
in
late
July,
when
I
decided
I'd
better
get
back
to
work...
or
at
least
try.
(那是我七月底写作停留的地方,也是那时我决定最好回去工作……或者至少试试)”,可知作者是在七月底决定继续写作的,故选B。
【10题详解】
词句猜测题。根据第二段开头“My
wife
Tabby
is
the
person
in
my
life
who's
most
likely
to
say
I'm
working
too
hard,
it's
time
to
slow
down,
stay
away
from
that
disgusting
PowerBook
for
a
little
while.
(我妻子Tabby是我生活中最有可能说我工作太辛苦,是时候放慢脚步了,离那恶心的笔记本远一点的人)
”可知,作者的妻子经常唠叨作者工作太辛苦,需要休息。所以当出了车祸的他重新决定开始写作的时候,以为妻子更会唠叨,长篇大论阻止他写作。故选B。
【11题详解】
推理判断题。根据倒数第二段最后一句“There
was
no
sense
of
excitement-
not
that
day-but
there
was
a
sense
of
accomplishment
that
was
almost
as
good.
(没有兴奋的感觉——那天没有,但有一种几乎一样好的感觉——成就感)”,可知,虽然那天作者没有兴奋感,但是还是感觉到了成就感,这种成就感会让作者获得一点满足感,故选D。
【12题详解】
推理判断题。根据倒数第三段中“There
was
no
inspiration
that
first
afternoon,
only
a
kind
of
stubborn
determination
and
the
hope
that
things
would
get
better
I
kept
at
it.
(第一个下午没有任何灵感,只有一种坚定的决心和事情会好起来的希望)”以及倒数第二段中
“There
was
no
breakthrough
that
afternoon,
unless
it
was
the
ordinary
miracle
that
comes
with
any
attempt
to
create
something.
All
I
know
is
that
the
words
started
coming
a
little
faster
after
a
while,
then
a
little
faster
still.
(那天下午并没有什么突破,除非是任何创造尝试都会带来的普通奇迹。我所知道的是,过了一段时间,文字开始出现得更快一些,然后又更快一些
”可知,虽然车祸后第一次尝试写作,没有突破,但是作者有坚定的决心,一直尝试创造出一些东西,所以坚持写,然后写得越来越快,情况越来越好。所以就是作者想要创造出一些东西的决心让他写得越来越快,故选B。
D
So
far
we
have
focused
on
the
textual
elements
of
the
Great
Gatsby,
but
it's
time
to
turn
to
structural
concerns-the
ways
in
which
the
patterns
of
language
and
imagery
create
the
backbone
of
a
story.
I
would
say
it's
almost
impossible
to
see
these
patterns
in
a
single
reading:
it
took
me
six
to
understand
their
full
effects.
Where
did
that
ending,the
thinking
of
the
green
light,
come
from?
Books
have
endings
but
a
do
chapters.
The
seeds
for
the
ending
of
Gatsby
are
Planted
at
the
end
of
chapter
1
,
where
Nick
sees
Gatsby
for
the
first
time:
But
I
didn't
call
to
him,
for
he
gave
a
sudden
hint
that
he
was
content
to
be
alone--he
stretched
out
his
arms
toward
the
dark
water
in
a
curious
way,
and,
far
as
I
was
from
him,
I
could
see
he
was
trembling.
I
glanced
seaward--and
saw
nothing
except
a
single
green
light,
minute
and
far
away,
that
might
have
been
the
end
of
a
dock
(码头).
When
I
looked
once
more
for
Gatsby,
he
had
vanished
(消失),
and
I
was
alone
again
in
the
unquiet
darkness.
It's
all
there:the
dark
water,
the
green
light,
the
end
of
a
dock,
the
stretching,reaching
and
desperate
struggling-as
well
as
the
mysterious
character
of
Gatsby.
Should
a
reader
at
the
last
chapter
be
expected
to
remember
that
scene
in
Chapter
1?
Maybe.
But
perhaps
the
reader
could
benefit
from
a
reminder.
I
found
it
in
the
novel's
central
scene
in
which
Gatsby
and
Daisy
are
reunited
after
five
years.
"If
it
wasn't
for
the
mist
we
could
see
your
home
across
the
bay,"said
Gatsby.
"You
always
have
a
green
light
that
burns
all
night
at
the
end
of
your
dock."
Daisy
put
her
arm
through
his
unexpectedly,
but
he
seemed
absorbed
in
what
he
had
just
said.
Possibly
it
had
occurred
to
him
that
the
great
significance
of
that
light
had
now
vanished
forever....Now
it
was
again
a
green
light
on
a
dock.
His
count
of
enchanted
(看魔)
objects
had
reduced
by
one.
It
is
important
to
note
the
repetition
of
key
words
over
significant
spaces
of
text.
The
word
vanished
echoes
(呼应)the
end
of
chapter
1,
Gatsby's
vanishing
act.
But
enchanted
appears
before
the
phrase
at
the
end
of
the
book,"a
short
enchanted
moment.”
It
just
so
happened
that
I
was
visiting
Long
Island
while
I
was
rereading
this
passage,
when
I
noticed
that
it
fell
on
the
central
chapter.
The
physical,structural,virtual
center
of
the
novel.
What
are
we
to
learn
from
this?
It
should
remind
us
that
a
truly
great
work
of
art
is
beautifully
and
finely
created.
It
should
reveal
how
purposeful
the
strategic
vision
of
the
author
is.Whatever
its
effect
in
Gatsby,
it
also
serves
as
a
writing
lesson
for
the
rest
of
us,
whether
we
are
writing
fiction,
nonfiction,biography,
screenplays,
or
poetry.
13.

15.
Which
of
the
following
is
true
according
to
the

the

of
the
novel.
B.
The

【解析】
这是一篇说明文。主要介绍了作者对于《了不起的盖茨比》这本书结构的分析和理解,以及对这部作品的欣赏和赞美。
【13题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第一段中“So
far
we
have
focused
on
the
textual
elements
of
the
Great
Gatsby,but
it's
time
to
turn
to
structural

create
the
backbone
of
a
story.
(到目前为止,我们关注的是《了不起的盖茨比》的文本元素,但现在是时候转向结构问题了,即语言和意象的模式如何构成故事的主干)
”可知,作者要关注的是《了不起的盖茨比》这个故事的结构。文章的开头点题,下文对于这个故事结构的举例介绍,说明这篇文章主要关于故事的结构的,故选C。
【14题详解】
细节理解题。根据第二段中“Where
did
that
ending,the
thinking
of
the
green
light,
come
from?
(那个结局,绿灯的想法,从何而来?)”可知,这本书结尾处提到了green
light。根据第二种“The
seeds
for
the
ending
of
Gatsby
are
Planted
at
the
end
of
chapter
1
,where
Nick
sees
Gatsby
for
the
first
time
(《了不起的盖茨比》结局的种子在第一章结尾被种下,第一章结尾时尼克第一次见到盖茨比)”以及接下来作者引用这一章节原文“I
glanced
seaward--and
saw
nothing
except
a
single
green
light,
minute
and
far
away,
that
might
have
been
the
end
of
a
dock
(码头).
(我望向海面,那里除了一盏绿灯,什么也没有,它渺小而遥远,或许是在码头的尽头)”可知,这本书的第一章节提到了green
light。根据第四段中“I
found
it
in
the
novel's
central
scene
in
which
Gatsby
and
Daisy
are
reunited
after
five
years.
(我在小说的中间场景中发现了它,在这一章节盖茨比和黛西在五年后重逢)”以及第六段对这个场景描述“You
always
have
a
green
light
that
burns
all
night
at
the
end
of
your
dock.
(你那码头的尽头总有一盏通宵不灭的绿灯)”可知,在这本书的中间章节,提到了green
light,综上,在《了不起的盖茨比》中,至少三个章节提到了green
light,故选B。
【15题详解】
推理判断题。根据第二段中“The

at
the
last
chapter
be
expected
to
remember
that
scene
in
Chapter
1?
Maybe.
(最后一章的读者是否应该记住第一章的那一幕?也许)”可知,《了不起的盖茨比》的结局在第一章节已经有所暗示或提示,也许读者在看到最后一章节时,会想到第一章节的那一幕,也即是小说的结尾也许会使读者想起第一章的内容。故选D。

C
【解析】
这是一篇说明文。作者用一个故事引出睡眠障碍的话题,并说明睡眠不足的危害以及日常的睡眠建议并不能起到很好的效果。作者也给我们提供了有助于睡眠的科学的建议。
【16题详解】
上文“Mary
Ladd's
husband
could
sleep
through
the
night,
but
she
couldn't.
(Mary
Ladd的丈夫可以睡一整夜,但她睡不着)”是写她的丈夫能够入睡,但她不能。下文“And
part
of
it
felt
out
of
her
control.
(有一部分她感觉无法控制)
”是分析她不能入睡的另一个原因,而选项F“她的问题部分是因为她有一些坏习惯:比如太多咖啡。”是写了一部分的原因,符合逻辑,故选F。
【17题详解】
下文“It's
not
just
a
matter
of
feeling
tired.Over
the
long
run,
lack
of
sleep
can
contribute
to
diseases
like
depression,obesity,heart
attack,and
even
cancer.
(这不仅仅是感觉累的问题。长期来看,睡眠不足会导致抑郁症、肥胖症、心脏病甚至癌症等疾病)”表明睡眠不足产生的不良影响。此空在段首,要引出睡眠不足会有糟糕影响的话题。选项D
“有什么比严重需要睡眠而得不到睡眠更糟糕的吗?”句意上连贯,逻辑衔接顺畅。故选D。
【18题详解】
上文“Unfortunately,telling
patients
to
sleep
more
doesn't
mean
they'll
be
able
to
do
it.
(不幸的是,告诉病人多睡并不意味着他们能做到)”是说医生让病人多睡觉并不能起到作用。下文“Exercise
more,stick
to
a
sleep
schedule,avoid
caffeine
in
the
evening.
(多运动,坚持睡眠计划,晚上避免咖啡因)”是列举了几个具体的建议例子。空处应该表达重复很多遍这样的建议没有用。选项G表达和病人重复很多遍这样的建议没有用,符合上下文逻辑,从语法上,nor和前文的否定呼应。故选G。
【19题详解】
上文“Unfortunately,
some
sleeping
pills
can
disturb
REM
sleep-the
last
and
most
dream-filled
sleep
cycle.
Alcohol
does
too.
(不幸的是,一些安眠药会干扰快速眼动睡眠(REM)——最后一个也是最充满梦境的睡眠周期。酒精也是如此。)”表明一些药物和酒精会影响睡眠。下文
“Training
yourself
to
wake
naturally
takes
practice,but
you'll
be
more
rested
if
you
can
do
it.
(训练自己自然地醒来需要练习,但如果你能做到的话,你会更加精力充沛)”表明需要慢慢锻炼让自己自然醒来。而B项“另一个常见的原因是闹钟,它会中断睡眠周期
”表明了另一个影响睡眠的原因,承接上文,alarm
clock与下文wake
naturally相对应,也就是“被闹钟叫醒”和下文“自然醒”之间的对应,引出下文,故选B。
【20题详解】
根据下文“Such
anxieties
can
transform
lack
of
sleep
into
chronic
insomnia
(这种焦虑会把睡眠不足转变成慢性失眠)”中的such
anxieties提示,可知此空处应选择一个具体的anxiety。C项“人们觉得睡不好第二天做什么也做不好”,这属于一种anxiety。故选C。

【解析】
这是一篇说明文。通主要介绍女性领导者之间的相似性以及和男性领导者的差别。
【36题详解】
考查连词。句意:例如,默克尔在从政前做了十多年的化学家,而孟加拉国第一任总统的女儿哈西娜在大学期间担任父亲的政治助理。分析句子可知,此空需要连词连接空前后两句话。根据句意,两句话的逻辑关系可理解为两句话的对比,这时用while;也可理解为两句之间的转折,用but;也可理解为作者只是阐述了两个人的事例,不强调语义之间的对比,直接用and连接,故填while/but/and。
【37题详解】
考查名词。句意:参见上题。空前有形容词修饰,作serve
as的宾语,应用名词形式,根据句意“助手;助理”,名词assistant符合句意,此处表示单数概念,故填assistant。
【38题详解】
考查时态。句意:她们每个人都在谈到如何在餐桌上找到自己的声音和自信。分析句子可知,此空是动词作谓语,结合上句,采访是过去的事,那么采访对象“谈论”的事,也是过去,用一般过去时态,故填talked。
【39题详解】
考查时态语态。句意:我还采访了三位女性领导人,她们都提到了自己成长的家庭环境。分析句子可知,they
4
(raise)
in是定语从句,空处是从句中的谓语,根据句意,她们是“被抚养”,应该用被动语态。抚养是过去的事,应用一般过去时态,结合主语they,所以填were
raised;如果强调定语从句的谓语“被抚养”发生在主句表示过去的谓语动词“提到”之前,即:过去的过去,这时用过去完成时态,此时用had
been
raised;故填were
raised/had
been
raised。
【40题详解】
考查介词。句意:例如,伊戈耶称赞父亲送他的女儿们去上学。固定搭配praise
sb.
for
sth.“因某事称赞某人”,符合句意,故填for。
【41题详解】
考查定语从句。句意:她的母亲回到学校提升她的教师职业能力,伊戈耶说这对她影响很大。分析句子可知,此空引导非限制性定语从句,关系词指代前面整个主句内容并在从句中作described的宾语,用which引导,故填which。
【42题详解】
考查非谓语动词。句意:男性往往以更直接的方式成为领导者。空前to是介词,应用动名词作宾语,故填becoming。
【43题详解】
考查副词。句意:女人不一定会向前看,然后想,“我要处在领先地位。”修饰动词短语look
ahead用副词,故填necessarily。
【44题详解】
考查非谓语动词。句意:事实上,女性领导者必须比男性更努力地工作才能达到人们的期望。分析句子可知,此句已有谓语动词,空处应用非谓语动词,根据句意,此处表目的,应用不定式作目的状语,故填to
live。
【45题详解】
考查名词性从句。句意:女性领导人有多大的发言权影响着一个国家的领导能力以及它对女性的意义。分子句子可知,and连接两个宾语从句作influences的宾语,空后从句中的means缺少宾语,且表示“意味着什么”,指代物,故填what。

When
tragedy
strikes,
some
people
fall
into
deep
depression
(抑郁)
sometimes
losing
hope
and
even
the
will
to
carry
on.
They
may
worry
continuously
about
the
disaster
and
suffer
nightmares.
Other
people,
however,
react
differently.
Instead
of
becoming
depressed
and
unable
to
cope,
they
are
able
to
deal
with
painful
experiences
and
move
on.
Boris
Cyrulnik
is
interested
in
this
difference
of
reaction.
To
find
out
why
some
people
are
so
deeply
affected,
while
others
are
seemingly
able
to
recover,
he
has
devoted
his
career
to
the
study
of
psychological
resilience
(复原力).
Cyrulnik
found
resilience
is
a
quality
that
builds
through
a
natural
process.
He
says
that
alone,
a
child
has
no
resilience.
We
build
resilience
from
developing
relationships.
Positive
emotions
and
humour
are
key
factors
in
resilience.
Cyrulnik's
research
has
shown
that
people
who
are
better
able
to
deal
with
life's
difficulties
or
traumas
(创伤)are
able
to
find
meaning
in
hardship,
seeing
it
as
a
useful
and
inspiring
experience,
and
even
to
find
ways
to
laugh.
Resilient
people
always
remain
able
to
see
how
things
may
turn
out
for
the
better
in
the
future,
even
if
the
present
is
painful.
It
had
previously
been
thought
that
people
who
show
more
resilience
are
less
emotional
in
general,
but
Cyrulnik
believed
that
the
pain
is
no
less
for
resilient
people
than
it
is
for
others;
it
is
a
matter
of
how
they
choose
to
use
it.
The
pain
may
continue,
even
over
a
whole
lifetime,
but
for
these
people
it
raises
a
challenge
that
they
decide
to
meet.
The
challenge
is
to
overcome
what
has
happened,
to
find
strength
in
the
experience
instead
of
letting
it
defeat
them,
and
to
use
the
strength
to
move
forward.
Given
the
right
support,
children
are
especially
able
to
complete
recovery
from
trauma.
Cyrulnik
has
shown
that
the
human
brain
is
easily
influenced
and
will
recover
if
allowed.
If
a
child
is
well
supported
and
loved
after
the
trauma,
his
brain
is
able
to
return
to
normal
within
a
year.
Cyrulnik
thinks
it
important
not
to
label
(贴标)
children
who
have
suffered
a
trauma
misleading
them
to
a
hopeless
future.
Trauma
consists
of
two
things:
the
injury
and
the
repeated
description
of
that
injury.
Often
the
most
damaging
post-traumatic
experience
for
children
is
experiencing
embarrassing
adult
descriptions
of
events.
Labels,
he
says,
can
be
more
damaging
than
the
experience.
4.
According
to
Cyrulnik's
research,
resilient
people
are________
A.
patient
and
forgiving.
B.
sensitive
and
controlling.
C.
optimistic
and
humorous.
D.
considerate
and
committed.
5.
What's
Cyrulnik's
attitude
towards
children
with
traumas?
A.
They
should
be
treated
differently.
B.
They
should
be
labeled
as
poor
little
ones.
C.
They
should
be
given
the
right
support.
D.
They
should
be
helped
to
accept
the
reality.
6.
What
does
Cyrulnik's
research
find?
A.
Resilience
is
a
person's
ability
to
grow
in
the
face
of
terrible
problems.
B.
Resilience
is
found
in
less
emotional
people
in
general.
C.
Resilience
is
built
either
by
being
alone
or
communicating
with
others.
D.
Resilience
is
a
person's
power
to
avoid
painful
experiences.
7.

A.
A

On
the
night
of
June
seventeenth,
happily
unaware
that
I
was
now
less
than
forty-eight
hours
from
my
little
“date”
with
Bryan
Smith,
I
sat
down
at
our
dining
room
table
and
listed
all
the
questions
I
wanted
to
answer,
all
the
points
I
wanted
to
address
in
my
book
On
Writing-A
Memoir
of
the
Craft.
On
the
eighteenth,
I
wrote
the
first
four
pages
of
the
“On
Writing”
section.
That
was
where
my
writing
still
stood
in
late
July,
when
I
decided
I'd
better
get
back
to
work...
or
at
least
try.
My
wife
Tabby
is
the
person
in
my
life
who's
most
likely
to
say
I'm
working
too
hard,
it's
time
to
slow
down,
stay
away
from
that
disgusting
PowerBook
for
a
little
while.
When
I
told
her
on
that
July
morning
that
I
thought
I'd
better
go
back
to
work,
I
expected
a
lecture.
Instead,
she
asked
me
where
I
wanted
to
set
up.
She
thought
about
it,
and
said:
"I
can
lay
a
table
for
you
in
the
back
hall.
There
are
plenty
of
plugins
so
you
can
have
your
laptop,
the
little
printer,
and
a
fan.
"A
couple
of
hours
later,
she
had
made
me
a
wonderful
little
nest
there:
laptop
and
printer,
my
notes,
pens,
and
reference
materials...Standing
on
the
corner
of
the
desk
was
a
framed
picture
of
our
younger
son,
which
she
had
taken
earlier
that
summer.
“Is
it
all
right?”
she
asked.
“It's
wonderful,”
I
said,
and
hugged
her.
It
was
wonderful.
So
is
she.
That
first
writing
session
lasted
an
hour
and
forty
minutes,
by
far
the
longest
period
I'd
spent
sitting
upright
since
being
struck
by
Bryan
Smith's
car.
When
it
was
over,
I
was
sweating
and
almost
too
tired
to
sit
up
straight
in
my
wheelchair.
And
the
first
five
hundred
words
were
uniquely
terrifying--it
was
as
if
I'd
never
written
anything
before
them
in
my
life.
All
my
old
tricks
seemed
to
have
deserted
me.
I
stepped
from
one
word
to
the
next
like
a
very
old
man
finding
his
way
across
a
stream
on
a
winding
line
of
wet
stones.
There
was
no
inspiration
that
first
afternoon,
only
a
kind
of
stubborn
determination
and
the
hope
that
things
would
get
better
I
kept
at
it.
There
was
no
breakthrough
that
afternoon,
unless
it
was
the
ordinary
miracle
that
comes
with
any
attempt
to
create
something.
All
I
know
is
that
the
words
started
coming
a
little
faster
after
a
while,
then
a
little
faster
still.
My
back
still
hurt,
my
leg,
too,
but
those
hurts
began
to
seem
a
little
farther
away.
I
started
to
get
on
top
of
them.
There
was
no
sense
of
excitement-
not
that
day-but
there
was
a
sense
of
accomplishment
that
was
almost
as
good.
After
that,things
can
only
get
better.

D.
On

17th.
10.
What
does
the
underlined
sentence"I
expected
a
lecture."in
paragraph
3
mean?
A.
I
was
expecting
my
wife
to
advise
me
what
to
write
about.
B
I
thought
my
wife
would
talk
a
lot
to
discourage
me
from
writing.
C.
I
had
prepared
a
lecture
to
get
myself
back
to
work.
D.
I
was
waiting
for
my
wife
to
show
me
where
to
set
up.
11.
How
did
the
writer
feel
at
the
end
of
his
writing
in
the
wheelchair
that
afternoon?
A.
Greatly
disappointed.
B.
Extremely
excited.
C.
Deeply
depressed.
D.
A
little
satisfied.
12.
What
made
the
words
start
coming
a
little
faster
after
a
while?
A.
All
his
old
tricks
that
had
come
back.
B.
His
determination
to
create
something.
C.
His
pains
that
had
gone
a
little
farther
away.
D.
His
wonderful
little
nest
made
by
his
wife.
D
So
far
we
have
focused
on
the
textual
elements
of
the
Great
Gatsby,
but
it's
time
to
turn
to
structural
concerns-the
ways
in
which
the
patterns
of
language
and
imagery
create
the
backbone
of
a
story.
I
would
say
it's
almost
impossible
to
see
these
patterns
in
a
single
reading:
it
took
me
six
to
understand
their
full
effects.
Where
did
that
ending,the
thinking
of
the
green
light,
come
from?
Books
have
endings
but
a
do
chapters.
The
seeds
for
the
ending
of
Gatsby
are
Planted
at
the
end
of
chapter
1
,
where
Nick
sees
Gatsby
for
the
first
time:
But
I
didn't
call
to
him,
for
he
gave
a
sudden
hint
that
he
was
content
to
be
alone--he
stretched
out
his
arms
toward
the
dark
water
in
a
curious
way,
and,
far
as
I
was
from
him,
I
could
see
he
was
trembling.
I
glanced
seaward--and
saw
nothing
except
a
single
green
light,
minute
and
far
away,
that
might
have
been
the
end
of
a
dock
(码头).
When
I
looked
once
more
for
Gatsby,
he
had
vanished
(消失),
and
I
was
alone
again
in
the
unquiet
darkness.
It's
all
there:the
dark
water,
the
green
light,
the
end
of
a
dock,
the
stretching,reaching
and
desperate
struggling-as
well
as
the
mysterious
character
of
Gatsby.
Should
a
reader
at
the
last
chapter
be
expected
to
remember
that
scene
in
Chapter
1?
Maybe.
But
perhaps
the
reader
could
benefit
from
a
reminder.
I
found
it
in
the
novel's
central
scene
in
which
Gatsby
and
Daisy
are
reunited
after
five
years.
"If
it
wasn't
for
the
mist
we
could
see
your
home
across
the
bay,"said
Gatsby.
"You
always
have
a
green
light
that
burns
all
night
at
the
end
of
your
dock."
Daisy
put
her
arm
through
his
unexpectedly,
but
he
seemed
absorbed
in
what
he
had
just
said.
Possibly
it
had
occurred
to
him
that
the
great
significance
of
that
light
had
now
vanished
forever....Now
it
was
again
a
green
light
on
a
dock.
His
count
of
enchanted
(看魔)
objects
had
reduced
by
one.
It
is
important
to
note
the
repetition
of
key
words
over
significant
spaces
of
text.
The
word
vanished
echoes
(呼应)the
end
of
chapter
1,
Gatsby's
vanishing
act.
But
enchanted
appears
before
the
phrase
at
the
end
of
the
book,"a
short
enchanted
moment.”
It
just
so
happened
that
I
was
visiting
Long
Island
while
I
was
rereading
this
passage,
when
I
noticed
that
it
fell
on
the
central
chapter.
The
physical,structural,virtual
center
of
the
novel.
What
are
we
to
learn
from
this?
It
should
remind
us
that
a
truly
great
work
of
art
is
beautifully
and
finely
created.
It
should
reveal
how
purposeful
the
strategic
vision
of
the
author
is.Whatever
its
effect
in
Gatsby,
it
also
serves
as
a
writing
lesson
for
the
rest
of
us,
whether
we
are
writing
fiction,
nonfiction,biography,
screenplays,
or
poetry.

How
to
Get
the
Sleep
You
Need
Mary
Ladd's
husband
could
sleep
through
the
night,
but
she
couldn't.____16____
And
part
of
it
felt
out
of
her
control.
A
breast
cancer
survivor
with
an
elderly
mother,
Ladd
found
that
her
worries
would
come
to
her
mind
at
bedtime.
___17___It's
not
just
a
matter
of
feeling
tired.
Over
the
long
run,
lack
of
sleep
can
contribute
to
diseases
like
depression,
obesity,
heart
attack,
and
even
cancer.
Unfortunately,
telling
patients
to
sleep
more
doesn't
mean
they'll
be
able
to
do
it.____18____Exercise
more,
stick
to
a
sleep
schedule,
avoid
caffeine
in
the
evening.
As
a
result,
a
third
of
adults
report
that
they
fail
to
get
a
seven-to-nine-hour
sleep
a
night.
The
good
news
is
that
science
has
begun
figuring
out
sleep's
mysteries
and
the
following
are
some
of
the
latest
ideas
to
improve
our
bedtime.
Don't
Go
Toward
the
Light
Our
brains
react
to
the
blue
light
given
off
by
computers,
smart-phones,
and
even
LED
bulbs
much
as
they
do
to
daylight.
If
you
can't
avoid
screens
before
you
head
to
bed,
try
wearing
light-blocking
glasses.
Become
a
Dream
Weaver.
People
with
fewer
dreams
are
more
likely
to
be
sensitive
to
pain
and
anxious.
Unfortunately,
some
sleeping
pills
can
disturb
REM
sleep-the
last
and
most
dream-filled
sleep
cycle.
Alcohol
does
too.____19____Training
yourself
to
wake
naturally
takes
practice,
but
you'll
be
more
rested
if
you
can
do
it.
Don't
Worry
About
It.
____20____
Such
anxieties
can
transform
lack
of
sleep
into
chronic
insomnia
(慢性失眠).
A
recent
research
shows
you
will
still
get
through
the
day
if
you
don't
get
enough
sleep.
Therefore,
if
you
lose
sleep,
tell
yourself
that
it's
OK.
A.
Often
it
involves
relaxation
training
or
meditation
(冥想)
to
reduce
anxiety.
B.
Another
common
cause
is
alarm
clocks,which
interrupt
sleep
cycles.
C.
People
often
think
they
won't
be
able
to
function
if
they
don't
have
a
good
night.
D.
Is
there
anything
worse
than
badly
needing
sleep
and
not
being
able
to
get
it?
E.
Ask
your
doctor
for
advice
in
time.
F.
Part
of
her
problem
was
that
she
had
some
bad
habits:too
much
coffee,for
one.
G.

they've

语法填空
On
the
surface
it
is
hard
to
find
some
similarities
between
female
leaders.
Merkel,
for
example,
spent
more
than
a
decade
as
a
chemist
before
going
into
politics____36____
Hasina,
the
daughter
of
Bangladesh's
first

____37____(assist)
while
at
college.
But
is
there
something
deeper
that
they
share?
The
researcher
Susan
R.
Madsen
from
Utah
interviewed
some
women
about
their
paths
to
leadership.
“Every
single
one
of
them
____38____(talk)
about
finding
their
voices
and
their
confidence
at
dinner-table
conversations.”
Madsen
said.
I
also
interviewed
three
women
leaders,
all
of
whom
pointed
to
the
family
environment
they
____39____(raise)
in.
Igoye,
for
example,
praised
her
father
___40___
having
sent
his
daughters
to
school.
Her
mother
went
back
to
school
to
improve
her
career
as
a
teacher,
___41___Igoye
described
as
being
a
big
influence
on
her.
Madsen
drew
another
conclusion,
“Men
tend
to
follow
a
more
straight
path
to
____42____(become)
a
leader.
Women
tend
to
not
____43____(necessary)
look
ahead
and
think,'I
want
to
be
on
top.'
Actually,
women
leaders
have
to
work
harder
than
men
____44____(live)
up
to
people's
expectations.”
Having
women
leaders
can
change
the
opportunities
available
for
generations
of
women
to
come.
How
much
of
a
voice
the
women
leaders
are
having
influences
what
leadership
is
in
a
nation
and
_____45_____it
means
to
its
women.

根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。续写词数应为150左右。
I
was
a
taxi
driver,
a
father
of
a
16-year-old
boy
at
that
time.
My
son
was
good
at
school,
and
he
would
graduate
from
senior
high
school
and
go
to
university,
but
he
was
hesitating
to
choose
his
future
job
and
he
always
changed
his
mind.
I
did
give
him
advice
but
he
didn’t
follow
it.
And
one
Monday
morning,
I
stopped
at
New
York
Hospital
when
I
found
a
well-dressed
man
coming
over.
He
was
waving
to
me.
I
waited
patiently
until
he
jumped
into
the
taxi.
“La
Guardia
Airport,
please.”
He
said.
As
always,
I
wondered
about
my
passenger.
So
I
asked,
“What
do
you
do?”
“I
am
working
at
the
hospital.”
For
some
unknown
reason,
I
decided
to
ask
for
his
help.
“Could
I
ask
a
favor?”
He
didn’t
answer
at
first.
But
I
continued,
“I
have
a
son,
16.
He’s
doing
well
in
school.
He
will
graduate
from
senior
high
school.
He
wants
a
job
this
summer.
Is
there
any
possibility
that
you
might
get
him
a
summer
job?”
After
a
minute,
he
said,
“The
medical
students
have
a
research
project.
Maybe
he
could
fit
in.
Have
him
send
me
his
school
records.”
He
searched
his
pocket
and
handed
me
a
card.
That
evening,
when
I
got
home,
I
pulled
the
card
from
my
pocket.
“Robbie,”
I
said
proudly,
“This
could
be
a
summer
job
for
you.
Send
him
your
school
records.”
Robbie
took
the
card
and
read
it
out
loud,
“Fred
Plum,
New
York
Hospital.”
“Is
this
a
joke?”
he
said
in
doubt.
After
I
shouted
and
threatened
to
cut
off
his
pocket-money,
Robbie
promised
to
send
off
his
grades
the
next
morning.
