B
  If
we
have
a
close
look
at
the
pages
of
history,
we
will
realize
that
there
were
numerous
ancient
Chinese
inventions
that
ranged
from
mathematics
and
engineering
to
agriculture
and
industry.
All
these
inventions,
including
well-known
paper,
gun
powder,
printing
and
compass,
have
contributed
to
the
improvement
of
the
human
race.
  China
has
had
a
very
active
part
to
play
in
technology
reaching
where
it
is
today.
For
over
a
thousand
years,
we
have
been
using
the
things
the
ancient
Chinese
invented.
Mathematics,
warfare(军事),
and
transportation
are
but
a
few
of
the
fields
where
the
Chinese
did
well
in.
Many
of
these
treasured
inventions
were
taken
by
the
Europeans
back
to
their
homeland
and
made
famous.

The
chain
pump(水车)
was
invented
by
the
Chinese
in
the
1st
century
BC;
this
device
allows
water
to
be
pumped
from
lower
to
higher
places.
This
is
also
used
for
irrigation
(灌溉)that
is
needed
in
farming.
In
Europe,
the
first
chain
pump
appeared
in
the
16th
century.
  Mechanical
clocks
were
invented
in
China
in
the
8th
century
AD.
The
Chinese
people
invented
this
device
connected
with
astrology(占星术)because
Chinese
Emperors
were
regarded
as
cosmic(宇宙的)
figures.
  Matches
were
another
invention
of
the
Chinese.
Poor
court
ladies
invented
the
first
version
of
matches
around
577
AD,
which
were
sulfur-made.
There
was
no
evidence
that
matches
appeared
in
Europe
before
1530.
Hence,
it’s
possible
that
the
first
matches
that
appeared
in
Europe
were
brought
over
by
travelers
that
visited
the
East.
  The
ancient
Chinese
calculator
is
known
as
the
Abacus(算盘).
This
is
an
early
version
of
the
calculator
that
Chinese
folks
invented
around
5,
000
years
ago.
This
invention
was
so
successful
that
it
soon
spread
to
all
other
countries.
Even
though
technology
has
left
the
abacus
behind
only
as
a
memory,
it
is
still
used
today
by
a
few
people
around
the
globe.

复现原则在做完型填空题时的作用很大,
往往能够帮助考生迅速确定答案。复现原则是指所选答案会在原文中以原词、同义词、近义词、同根词等形式存在,
只要考生做题时认真阅读,
很容易发现它们。比如文章的第7小题和第13小题:

10.
【解析】from/against。考查介词。固定短语protect
from/against“保护,

【方法技巧】定语从句的关系词的选择可考虑以下三点:
(1)一看先行词的意义,
即分清先行词是指人、指物、时间、地点还是原因(如指物时不能用who或whom,
指人时通常不用which等)
(2)二看关系词的句法功能,
即分清关系词是充当什么句子成分,
是作主语还是宾语、是定语还是状语等(如作定语通常用whose,
有时也用which;
作状语要用when,
where,
why)
(3)三看定语从句的种类,
即分清是限制性定语从句还是非限制性定语从句(如that和why通常不引导非限制性定语从句)
如第7小题,
本句为定语从句修饰先行词those,
且先行词在从句中作主语,
指人,

A
  Confucius(551
BC-479
BC)was
a
thinker,
educator,
and
founder
of
the
Ru
School
for
Chinese
thought.
He
was
a
well-known
leader
in
philosophy
and
he
also
made
many
wise
phrases
and
theories
about
the
law,
life,
and
the
government
that
helped
many
people
learn
about
nature,
the
world
and
human
beings.
Confucius’s
social
philosophy
largely
centers
around
the
concept
of
“ren”,
which
is
“loving
others”
and
“honoring
one’s
parents”.
Those
who
have
developed
“ren”
are
“simple
in
manner
and
slow
of
speech”.
For
Confucius,
such
concern
for
others
is
proved
through
the
practice
of
the
Golden
Rule:
“What
you
do
not
wish
for
yourself,
do
not
do
to
others.

Confucius
thinks
a

rulership
was

which
allows
one

without
troubling
himself,
and
that
a
ruler
should
rule
his
people
by
his
own
example
and
treat
them
with
love
and

A
characteristic
of
Confucius’s
thought
is
his
emphasis(强调)
on
education
and
study,
“A
good

is
someone
who
knows

set
men
apart.
Socrates
focused
on
the
individual,
and
thought
that
the

purpose
of
man
was
to
seek
wisdom.
He
believed
that
some
had
more

others
did.
Like
Confucius,
he
believed
that
the
superior
class

rule
the
inferior(下层的)
class.
  For
Socrates,
the
family
was
of
no

and
the

For
Confucius,
however,
the

diary,

his
first
view
of
Kamala
(as
the

was
named)
and
Amala
(the

?
Kamala
was
a
terrible-looking
being,
the
head,
a
big
ball
of
something
covering
the
shoulders.
 4 Their
eyes
were
bright
and
sharp,
unlike
human
eyes.
They
were
very
fond
of
raw
meat
and
raw
milk.
Gradually,
as
they
got
stronger,
they
began
going
on
all
fours,
and
afterwards
began
to
run
on
all
fours,
just
like
squirrels.
