Plogging
Plogging is a new way to jog while cleaning up the planet. It's a craze that began in Sweden in 2016 and the motivation behind it includes reducing the load of plastic litter in our environment, as well as keeping fit while running. 46 If you love outdoor exercise, enjoy exercising with others, and care about removing litter from our environment, then this might just be the sport for you.
Make good preparations before plogging. Dress suitably for the environment in which you are running. This will vary depending on the weather and surroundings, but the basics are comfortable running clothes and closed-toe running shoes. Suitable gloves are a wise and useful addition, as picking up litter can be dangerous in some situations. 47 This might be a
standard trash bag, easy to carry and capable of containing litter that might have sharp edges.
Organize your plogging group. If you're lucky enough to have ploggers already in your area, seek them out. Join up and make new friends with a shared interest. Check out such meeting groups at Meetup or ask at a local sports store to find out what opportunities exist where you live. If you don't have a group, create one. Use social media, notices on bulletin boards, or place signs in the windows of sports stores to find fellow ploggers. 48
Collect safely. One key suggestion for staying safe while collecting litter is to avoid picking up broken glass or sharp items. If you must collect such an item, only do so when you can find a very safe way to collect it without harming yourself. If in doubt, leave it and get better equipment to remove it. 49 If an item of litter presents a potential safety risk, try to mark the item clearly to encourage people to avoid it.
50 It is a way of combining individual achievement via exercise with community and environmental care. You're part of the growing movement of people who are giving back to the world at the same time as honoring self care, a sustainable and healthy way to balance your life. This could be a fantastic opportunity to show people that individual action makes a big difference.
A. Taking some photos during the process is also necessary.
B. You can also ask for assistance from the local authorities.
C. Usually performed as part of a group run, it's also a social exercise.
D. You also need to find a suitable carry bag for collecting the litter in.
E. Plogging is a great way to feel motivated as it has more than one benefit.
F. If you find a natural area with litter problem, this might be a suitable place.
G. With some advertising effort, you are likely to connect with a few interested people.

What makes a good apology? What is the right way to say we're sorry that doesn't merely relieve our guilt or get us out of hot water, but best serves the person we hurt? There is more to saying sorry than just saying "sorry". 46 They include expressing regret, explaining what went wrong, acknowledging responsibility, offering to repair the situation, and requesting forgiveness.
That may seem like a lot to remember, but acknowledgement of responsibility turned out to be the most important piece. Of course, not all the ruined situations are created equal. 47 Here are a few key tips.
Have perfect timing. Did you totally ruin the situation? A little cool-off time could help. 48 .But if the other party is angry at your wrong doing, it may be more effective to wait because their anger may prevent them from being receptive to an apology. Waiting can help you too. The best time to apologize is when one feels ready to sincerely apologize.
49 .Experts agree that face-to-face apologies beat phoned-in, e-mailed, or handwritten ones. Facial expressions, gestures, and the tone of voice have all been shown to be important channels that convey sincerity. Anyone can type I feel really ashamed," but if you say it live, it's obvious whether or not you mean it.
Explain; don't excuse. Because admitting to being wrong is painful and can make people worried that they're a bad person, they often water down their apology with excuses. Examples include " I certainly apologize if I offended anyone" and " I'm sorry, but you started it " . That sort of apology has a name: a non-apology. It uses the form of an apology but follows it up by shifting- responsibility to the offended person, Implying he or she is too sensitive. 50 Even if you did something comparably less important, like being late all the time , it's always key to remember that while you're the one apologizing, it's not about you; it's about the person you hurt and what they need now.
Let your body do the talking.
There are several types of apologies.
Get ready to change your facial expressions.
Sometimes an Immediate apology is called for.
Don't imply that the other person is wrong to feel upset or angry.
In fact, a study found that effective apologies have five components.
G. So you might need to fine-tune your apology depending on the circumstances.

More than 1.6 million people around the world are volunteers in other countries.?They help build schools,?assist?in hospitals and do farming work in?developing countries. 72 They keep in touch with their host families after they return home, and many return to visit.

Casual Dress in the Workplace
For Ruth, an employee at an insurance company, Friday isn’t just another workday. It is the day when she can wear a sweater and casual trousers instead of business suit. 71 “It is a real treat. It puts us in good mood and winds the week down.” Ruth has joined thousands of workers across the United States who happily change from jackets, ties, and dresses to jeans, polo shirts, and sweaters on Fridays.
Why dress-down Friday? “I think it gives an atmosphere of less formality(正式),” says President Matthew of Entex Industries. Today, dressing casually on the job is a way to show your company is in style. Another contributor is faxes, voice mail and email, which have reduced public contact. 72
However, even though dressing down is popular, the trend is controversial. Some workers remain strongly opposed. “You have got all the time in the world to dress down when you retire,” declared one woman. 73 “We had some very important guests come in on a Friday a few months ago,” says another worker. “These people dressed in navy suits. Our people dressed way down. I thought it was embarrassing. It sent the wrong message about our company.” Many people feel that suits, ties and dresses are superior to casual clothes in creating a positive professional image.
74 Some experts think it will go away one day. As long as the trend continues, though, dressing casually can cause a little confusion in the workplace. Business people aren’t sure what to wear, and many people just put on whatever they feel like in the morning. 75 They believe dressing down at work is one of the signs that the society is lowering its standards of everything. Czardas and John T. Malloy, author of Dress for Success, say psychological changes occur when people dress up. “There is no question what you wear affects what you do, your performance, and your attitude,” says Malloy.
A. Will the dress-down trend last?
B. Will dressing casually become popular?
C. The casual dress trend worries some fashion professionals.
D. It is when she feels more confident and gets ready for next promotion.
E. She loves the day away from her usual dressy suits and high-heeled shoes.
F. Others worry that dressing casually lowers an employer’s professional image.
G. With fewer out-of-the-office meetings, people are dressing less to impress and more for
comfort.

Trampolining
What’s more fun than standing still? Jumping up and down on a springy piece of fabric (织物)! This activity is known as trampolining and it’s sweeping the nation.
The idea of trampolining is ancient. Eskimos have been throwing each other in the air for thousands of years. Firemen began using a life net to catch people jumping from buildings in 1887. 71
A gymnast named George Nissan and his coach Larry Griswold made the first modern trampoline in 1936. They got the idea by watching swing artists bouncing off of a tight net at the circus. They named their equipment after the Spanish word trampolín, which means diving board.
72 In 1942 they began making trampolines to sell to the public.
73 Experts find that more than 100,000 people hurt themselves while using one each year. Clubs and gyms use large safety nets or other equipment to make it safer. Most trampoline injuries happen at home. Since trampolines are more affordable than ever, injuries are even more common.
These injuries happen for many reasons. People may bounce too high and land off of the trampoline or onto the springs. 74 Perhaps the worst injuries happen when untrained people try to do flips (快速翻转). Landing on your neck or head can cause injuries or even kill you.
But don’t let all that bad news keep you down. There are many things that you can do to practice safe trampolining. Trampolines have been around for a while now. They have brought a lot of joy to many people. They can be a good source of exercise and activity. 75 But they can also be deadly. It is important to follow some professional guidance. Be sure that you are practicing safety while having a good time. Happy bouncing!
