Now many young people are traveling around the world on their own,not because they have no one to travel with, but because they prefer to go alone.
Kristina Wegscheider from California first traveled alone when she was at college. She believes that it is something everyone should do at least once in their life.“It opens up your mind to new things and pushes you out of your comfort zone.”Wegscheider has visited 46 countries covering all seven continents.
In foreign countries, with no one to help you read a map, look after you if you get ill, or lend you money if your wallet is stolen, it is challenging. This is what drives young people to travel alone. It is seen as character building and a chance to prove that they can make it on their own.
Chris Richardson decided to leave his sales job in Australia to go traveling last year.He set up a website,The Aussie Nomad,to document his adventures. He said he wished he had traveled alone earlier.“The people you meet, the places you visit,or the things you do,everything is up to you and it forces you to grow as a person,” said the 30?year?old man.
Richardson describes traveling alone like “a shot in the arm”,which“makes you a more confident person that is ready to deal with anything”.He said,“The feeling of having conquered something on my own is a major part of what drives me each day when I’m dealing with a difficult task.I walk around with my head up because I know deep down inside that nothing is impossible if you try.”
The great 19th century explorer John Muir once said,“Only by going alone in silence can one truly get into the heart of the wilderness.”
Which of the following will Kristina Wegscheider agree with?
A. Traveling alone is a necessary experience for everyone.
B. It is more meaningful to travel in foreign countries.
C. It is comfortable to travel around without a friend.
D. Traveling abroad helps people to find new things.
25. What can we infer about Chris Richardson?
A. He started traveling at an early age.
B. He was once shot in the arm.
C. His website inspires others a lot.
D. He used to work as a salesman.
26. What is the best title of the passage?
A.Travel Abroad B.Travel Alone

Top Tips for Traveling Abroad
Traveling abroad, for business or pleasure, should be a fun experience. 30 Plan well in advance for your trip, prepare yourself for what you might experience, and protect yourself as much as you can from any accidents. Here are some tips:
?Check you are fit for travel. Before you book your trip abroad you should be aware of any health problems at your destination. 31 Besides this, you should make sure you receive the necessary vaccines(疫苗).
? 32 Don’t forget to take your medication with you. You can carry your necessities on the plane with you. It is wise to take the double amount of necessities that you need—put half in your carry?on bag and half in your “in the hold” bag. That way, if your carry?on bag gets stolen, you still have your necessities in your hold bag.
? 33 Your medication makes your skin weaker, so protect it from sun by wearing sunscreen or a hat, and seeking shade where possible. Also, you may find that you are more sensitive to the heat, so drink plenty of water and carry a handy cooler fan.
?Eat and drink wisely. While abroad, drink bottled water and even clean your teeth with bottled water. Take extra care of your diet to avoid any stomach upsets. Eat vegetables and fruit that have been washed. 34 If in doubt, speak to a medical person to check what food to avoid.

Check your medicine, ticket, passport and other necessities.
Avoid eating uncleaned food, shellfish and ice cream.
Just remember the three “p” s.
On the website, you can search for travel advice on different countries.
You should check about your fitness to travel to certain countries.
Travel insurance is a must.
Protect yourself against the sun and heat.

六、书面表达
【范文】
Dear Henry,
I'm happy to receive your letter and know that you're coming to China. I’m writing to sincerely express my warmest welcome.
I'd like to tell you something about some places of interest in China. Personally, one of the best is the Great Wall of China. It came into being during the Warring States period and reached its best in Ming Dynasty as defence working against enemies. With a history of over 2,000 years, it runs like a huge dragon across North China. And now it’s a world-famous tourist attraction. As an old Chinese saying goes, “A man who hasn't been to the Great Wall is not a true man, “it’s almost a must for foreigners to visit in China.”
If you come to visit the Great Wall, you'd better come a day before climbing the Wall and avoid weekends or holidays, when it is too crowded with tourists, so as to enjoy its beauty more peacefully. Moreover, I can be your guide if you like.
Yours,
Li Hua
