Intelligent
people
are
more
likely
to
trust
others,
while
those
who
score
lower
on
measures
of
intelligence
are
less
likely
to
do
so.
Oxford
university
researchers
based
their
findings
on
an
analysis
of
the
General
Social
Survey.
The
authors
say
one
explanation
could
be
that
more
intelligent
individuals
are
better
at
judging
characters
and
may
spend
more
time
building
relationships
with
people
they
can
trust.
Another
reason
could
be
that
smarter
people
are
better
at
weighing
up
situations
and
assessing
whether
or
not
the
other
person
will
keep
his
or
her
side
of
a
bargain.
“Intelligence
is
shown
to
be
linked
with
trusting
others,”
said
the
study’s
lead
author,
Noah
Carl
of
Oxford
University.
“This
finding
supports
what
other
researchers
have
argued,
namely
that
being
a
good
judge
of
characters
is
a
distinct
part
of
human
intelligence.”
In
addition,
the
study
shows
that
individuals
who
are
more
trusting
are
also
happier
with
their
lives
and
have
higher
levels
of
physical
health.
The
Oxford
researchers
found,
however,
that
the
links
between
trust
and
health,
and
between
trust
and
happiness,
are
not
explained
by
intelligence.
The
findings
confirmed
that
trust
is
a
valuable
resource
for
an
individual,
and
is
not
simply
a
measure
of
intelligence.
The
authors
say
the
research
is
significant
because
the
study
of
social
trust
could
have
far-reaching
implications
for
public
welfare,
as
social
trust
contributes
to
the
success
of
important
social
institutions,
such
as
welfare
systems
and
financial
markets.
According
to
the
Organization
for
Economic
Co-operation
and
Development,
trust
is
in
increasingly
short
supply
in
the
current
generation.
This
decline
threatens
world
leaders’
ability
to
handle
some
of
today’s
key
challenges
like
global
warming,
and
the
political
systems.
There
are
good
reasons
to
think
that
governments
should
try
to
develop
more
trust
in
society.
“Distrust
usually
causes
friction
in
personal
relationships,
careers
and
politics
among
people,”
says
Stephen
Covey.
Although
the
majority
of
people
say
that
trust
can
never
be
restored
once
it’s
broken,
Stephen
feels
it
can
be
brought
back.
“It’s
not
easy,
and
it
takes
time,
but
you
do
it
through
your
behavior,
not
just
things
you
say.”
It
can
be
concluded
from
the
analysis
of
the
General
Social
Survey
that
______.
A.
intelligent
individuals
spend
less
time
on
interpersonal
relationships
B.
judgment
of
characters
determines
the
level
of
intelligence
C.
intelligence
accounts
for
the
connection
between

and
health
D.
intelligent

tend
to
show
more
trust
in
others

Air
pollution
may
be
causing
baldness,scientists
have
shown
for
the
first
time.A
new
study
found
that
fine
particulate
matter
emitted
by
cars
would
damage
the
skin
that
holds
hair
follicles(毛囊)in
place.A
series
of
laboratory
tests
on
human
cells
showed
that
levels
of
the
crucial
proteins
needed
for
hair
to
grow
and
be
retained
decreased
when
they
were
exposed
to
pollution
particles.While
there
is
a
growing
body
of
evidence
showing
how
these
tiny
particles
can
damage
internal
health,including
by
entering
the
bloodstream
through
the
lungs,this
is
the
first
to
demonstrate
such
a
risk
to
the
surface
of
the
body.
The
study
was
conducted
by
exposing
cells
from
the
human
follicle
dermal
papilla
cells(HFDPCs),to
various
concentrations
of
PM10-like
dust
and
diesel
particles(柴油颗粒)After
24
hours
the
researchers
performed
a
process,known
as
western
blotting,to
detect
the
levels
of
specific
proteins
in
the
cells.
The
results
showed
that
the
presence
of
PM10
and
diesel
particles
decreased
levels
of
B-catenin,
the
protein
responsible
for
hair
growth.The
study
also
revealed
that
the
levels
of
three
other
proteins---cyclin
D1,cyclin
E
and
CDK2,which
are
responsible
for
hair
growth
and
hair
retention,were
decreased
by
PM10-like
dust
and
diesel
particles
in
a"dose-dependent"manner.
Dr
Hyuk
Chul
Kwon,who
led
the
study
at
the
Future
Science
Research
Centre,said,"While
the
link
between
air
pollution
and
serious
diseases
such
as
cancer
and
lung
diseases
is
well
established,
there
is
little-to-no
research
on
the
effect
of
particulate
matter
exposure
on
the
human
skin
and
hair
in
particular.Our
research
explains
the
mode
of
action
of
air
pollutants
on
HFDPCs,showing
how
the
most
common
air
pollutants
lead
to
hair
loss."
Sources
of
PM
include
the
burning
of
fossil
fuels---petrol
and
diesel,as
well
as
other
solid
fuels,and
other
industrial
activities
such
as
building,mining
and
the
manufacturing
of
building
materials
like
bricks.
"While
it
is
difficult
to
escape
from
the
surrounding
pollution,limiting
the
time
for
walking
in
busy
streets,especially
during
rush
hour,should
help
reduce
exposure,"said
Dr
Kwon."If
you
are
exercising
outdoors,try
to
do
so
in
areas
that
are
less
polluted
and
do
not
spend
too
much
time
waiting
at
traffic
hot
spots
such
as
traffic
lights."
28.What
did
the
new
study
find?
A.Air
pollution
can
do
great
harm
to
our
lungs.
B.The
color
of
our
skin
can
be
influenced
by
air
pollution.
C.Serious
air
pollution
can
probably
prevent
hair
from
growing.
D.Air
pollution
can
affect
hair
growth
by
entering
the
bloodstream.
29.What
is
western
blotting
used
to
do?
A.To
discover
the
protein
helpful
for
hair
growth.
B.To
show
the
protein
contents
in
the
cells.
C.To
compare
different
proteins
in
the
cells.
D.To
analyze
the
composition
of
hair
cells.
30.What
can
we
learn
from
Dr
Hyuk
Chul
Kwon's
words?
A.His
new
research
is
superior
to
previous
research.
B.The
research
he
conducted
is

of
great
importance.
C.The
results
of
his
new
research
need
to
be
further
improved.
D.A
link
between
air

be
established.
31.What
does
Dr

do?
A.To
do
as
much

as
possible..
B.To
take

to
reduce
air
pollution.
C.To
avoid
being
exposed
to
air
pollution.
D.To
take
public
transport
to
avoid
traffic

If
you’ve
visited
a
museum,
you’ve
seen
it.
Maybe
you’ve
even
done
it
taken
a
picture
of
yourself
with
a
piece
of
art.
Perhaps
it’s
because
you
love
the
painting
or
sculpture,
or
maybe
it
was
just
a
famous
piece
of
art
and
you
wanted
to
share
with
the
world
that
you’d
seen
it
in
person.
But
the
majority
of
museums
ban(禁止)
photography
at
the
museum.
The
reasons
for
banning
photography
differ.
Some
museums
have
pieces
lent
to
them
that
aren’t
allowed
to
be
photographed
according
to
the
owner’s
wishes,
like
most
of
the
exhibits
at
The
Tate
in
London.
Others
are
concerned
about
what
camera
flashes
will
do
to
the
art;
bright
lights
can
damage
certain
paints.
Some
want
to
preserve
a
certain
atmosphere.
Sir
John
Soane’s
Museum,a
small
museum
in
London,
states
that
it
bans
photography
to
“maintain
the
unique,
magical
atmosphere
insides”.
For
other
museums
the
“no
photography”
rule
is
based
on
observed
behavior
that
seems
to
fly
against
the
idea
of
what
the
museum
is
for:
“Personally,
what
I’ve
noticed
is
that
people
spend
more
time
taking
pictures
than
looking
at
pieces
of
art,”
said
Benoit
Parayre,
the
director
of
communications
at
the
Center
Pompidou
in
Paris.
“They
take
a
picture,
and
don’t
even
stop
in
front
of
the
paintings.
”
For
most
museums.
it’s
purely
practical.
“People
taking
selfies(自拍)are
more
concerned
with
getting
their
shot
than
paying
attention
to
where
their
bodies
are.
some
nearly
backing
into
objects,”
complained
Heidi
Rosenau.
the
Frick’s
communication
director.
What’s
worse,
in
a
busy
museum,
people
taking
photos
with
the
art
causes
traffic-flow
issues.
Sure,
some
people
only
take
a
quick
shot,
but
we
all
have
a
friend
or
two
who
spends
minutes
getting
the
“perfect”
photo--now
just
imagine
them
in
a
museum
blocking
people
from
seeing
famous
works
of
art
that
they’ve
spent
time
and
money
to
come
and
see.
A
selfie
can
be
fun
and
harmless,
but
it
can
also
be
rude
and
get
in
the
way
of
other
people’s
experiences.
32.What
do
we
learn
from
the
first
paragraph?
A.Visitors
can
copy
a
famous
piece
of
art.
B.Taking
pictures
is
not
allowed
in
most
museums.
C.Most
visitors
carry
cameras
in
the
museum.
D.Most
exhibits
of
art
are
borrowed
from
others
33.Sir
John
Soane’s
Museum
bans
photography
with
the
purpose
of
________.
A.ensuring
safety
B.preserving
art
works
C.keeping
order
D.maintaining
an
atmosphere
34.Heidi
Rosenau
thinks
that
________.
A.selfie-takers
may
damage
the
exhibits
B.selfie-takers
may
inspire
other
visitors
C.selfie-takers
may
steal
the
piece
D.selfie-takers
can
better
enjoy
art
35.Which
of
the
following
is
the
writer’s
viewpoint?
A.A
harmless
selfie
should
be
allowed
in
all
museums.
B.Some
museums
can
be
open
to
a
selfie.
C.A
selfie
should
be
banned
in
museums
D.A
selfie
can
be
dangerous
in
museums.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
We
all
have
to
make
decisions
all
the
time,
and
we
have
an
abundance
of
choices,
ranging
from
tiny
issues
to
vital
ones.
Unfortunately,
people
often
find
it
hard
to
make
decisions.
36
If
you
would
like
to
improve
your
skill
of
decision?making,
here
are
four
suggestions
for
you.
Don't
expect
to
have
it
all.
37
You
can't
order
every
delicious
dish
on
the
menu.
And
there
will
be
paths
not
taken,
careers
not
chosen,
to
name
a
few.
You
can
imagine
some
“what
if”
situations
if
you
must,
but
do
not
let
them
take
up
too
much
space
in
your
brain.
38
It's
often
good
to
think
through
your
decisions.
But
don't
overdo
it.
Research
can
reach
a
point
where
returns
begin
to
reduce,
which
makes
it
confusing
more
than
clarifying.
Many
good
decisions
can
be
made
based
as
much
on
intuition
(直觉)as
on
careful
assessment
of
endless
data.
Don't
delay
making
decisions.
Yes,
there
is
a
time
to
put
off
making
a
decision.
Perhaps
you
need
more
information.
39
Or
it's
likely
that
you
wait
for
a
less
stressful
time.
Just
don't
wait
so
long
that
the
decision
is
made
by
your
own
indecisiveness.
Don't
be
hard
on
yourself.
You
decide
to
go
on
a
voyage.
You
choose
an
expensive
liner.
Everything
should
work
out
just
right.
Only
you
didn't
expect
a
bug
that
ran
around
on
the
ship,
making
you
and
your
family
sick
for
five
days.
40
But
please
remember
it
is
unavoidable
sometimes.
A.Decisions
force
us
to
close
the
door
on
other
possibilities.
B.That
means
the
skill
of
good
decision?making
counts
a
lot.
C.Don't
count
on
emotion
to
make
decisions.
D.You
may
regret
making
such
a
stupid
decision.
E.Maybe
you
wish
to
consult
with
your
advisor.
F.Don't
spend
too
much
time
thinking.
G.It
is
an
important
source
of
information.

第三节
故事续写(满分20分)
77.
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一片完整的短文。
Jack
couldn’t
believe
it
when
he
saw
them.
The
trainers
(运动鞋)
were
on
top
of
a
cardboard
box,
next
to
a
pile
of
rubbish
bins.
And
they
look
really
good
and
brand
new.
He
peered
inside
the
trainers
and
found
they
were
just
his
size.
Jack
cried
out,
“Why
would
anyone
throw
them
away?”
Anna
shrugged.
Anna
was
his
best
friend,
but
Jack
didn’t
expect
her
to
understand.
She
knew
that
he
liked
running
and
she
even
helped
by
timing
him
when
he
ran
around
the
park.
But
Jack
didn’t
just
like
running---he
was
crazy
about
it.
He
unzipped
his
school
bag
and
put
the
trainers
into
his
bag.
“It’s
the
Area
Cross-Country
Championships
in
two
weeks,”
he
said.
“I’ll
never
do
well
in
my
worm
old
trainers.
These
will
give
me
a
chance.”
Anna
nodded.
She
knew
how
important
the
Championships
were
to
Jack.
Five
runners
were
selected
from
each
school
in
the
area.
Jack
hadn’t
been
chosen,
but
then
one
of
the
runners
had
gone
to
hospital.
So
they
picked
Jack
to
be
his
replacement
in
the
race.
Jack
knew
he
had
no
chance
of
beating
Beadle,
the
best
runner
in
the
school.
However,
he
would
be
happy
if
he
just
did
okay
in
the
race---he
didn’t
want
to
let
himself
down.
Much
to
their
surprise,
something
unusual
happened
when
Jack
put
on
the
trainers.
Usually
Jack
set
out
at
a
light
jog
at
first
when
he
practised
running.
But
this
time
he
reached
top
speed
straight
away.
He
didn’t
plan
it---it
just
happened.
It
felt
as
if
he
was
running
on
air.
He
zoomed
round
the
park
and
kept
picking
up
sped.
In
fact
he
just
had
to
relax
and
the
trainers
did
the
running.
However,
Anna
felt
really
upset.
She
knew
no
pair
of
normal
trainers
could
make
such
a
difference.
Anna
shook
her
head,
“You
shouldn’t
wear
them
in
the
race.
It
won’t
be
YOU
who
wins,
will
it?
Anyone
could
win
if
they
wore
those
trainers.”
But
Jack
wouldn’t
listen.
“I
won’t
give
them
up.
These
trainers
are
my
only
chance
to
win
that
Championship.
I
don’t
need
your
help!”
he
shouted.
With
that
he
turned
and
ran
off
like
a
speeding
train.
注意:
1、读写词数应为150左右;
2、请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
He
was
even
faster
with
each
practice,
but
he
didn’t
feel
happy.

第三节
(满分20分)
He
was
even
faster
with
each
practice,
but
he
didn’t
feel
happy.
No
doubt
he
would
win
the
championship
with
the
trainers.
However,
a
lingering
uncertainty
made
him
upset.
Anna’s
words
echoed
in
his
mind,
“It
won’t
prove
anything.”
He
came
to
realize
that
it
wouldn’t
mean
anything
to
win
by
using
the
trainers.
So
he
made
up
his
mind
to
run
the
race
in
his
old
trainers.
With
great
sincerity,
he
shared
his
decision
with
Anna
and
apologized
to
her.
It
was
time
for
the
big
race
and
the
organizer
called
the
runners
to
the
starting
line.
The
moment
the
whistle
blew,
all
the
runners
set
of
at
full
speed.
After
the
first
two
laps,
Jack’s
legs
ached
and
his
breath
burned
in
his
lungs.
Just
then
he
heard
a
cheer
from
Anna,
which
gave
him
an
extra
burst
of
energy.
With
dogged
determination,
he
passed
the
finish
and
ended
up
in
tenth
place.
He
felt
as
proud
as
an
Olympic
hero.
To
his
understanding,
the
essence
of
the
sports
was
not
winning
but
finding
a
better
self.

studied
medicine,
but
that
sounds
too
difficult.
I’ve
always
been
interested
in
art,
but
I’m
not
sure
if
I
want
to
be
a
professional
artist.
M:
Well,
you
could
study
art
history.
That
was
my
wife’s
major,
you
know.
W:
Really?
What
did
you
major
in?
M:
Oh,
I
always
wanted
to
be
a
businessman,
so
that’s
what
I
did
in
college.
(10)
It’s
not
for
everyone,
but
I
liked
it.
I
wish
I
had
taken
some
other
classes,
though.
If
you
have
a
chance
to
learn
about
a
bunch
of
different
things
and
then
make
a
decision,
I
think
that
would
be
your
best
bet.
(12)
W:
That’s
good
advice,
Mr.
Sanders.
Thanks!
M:
My
pleasure.
If
you
want
to
talk
more,
come
next
door
anytime
you
want.
(11)
W:
I
sure
will.
Thank
you!

M:
OK,
your
bill
comes
to
thirty-six
dollars.
W:
Well,
I
never
carry
cash
on
me
anymore.
Can
I
just
Venmo
it
to
you?(13)
M:
What
does
that
mean?
W:
Venmo
is
an
app
that
you
download
for
your
smartphone.(13)
It
connects
to
your
bank
or
a
credit
card,
and
you
can
transfer
money
to
other
people
in
about
ten
seconds.
M:
What?
That’s
fast!
I’ve
used
PayPal
before,
but
it
sometimes
takes
several
minutes
for
the
transfer
to
be
completed.
(14)Plus,
they
charge
you
a
fee
for
sending
the
money.
W:
Venmo
is
free
if
you
use
a
checking
account.
But
if
you
use
a
credit
card,
I
think
they
charge
you
a
small
fee.
M:
That’s
cool.
I
never
use
my
credit
card,
anyway.
So,
what
can
I
do
with
the
money
once
it’s
there?
Can
I
use
Venmo
at
stores?
W:
You
still
can’t
use
it
at
most
restaurants
and
big
chain
stores,
but
a
lot
of
smaller
shops
accept
it.
(15)
It’s
getting
more
popular
all
the
time.
M:
All
right,
how
can
I
sign
up
for
Venmo?
W:
Download
the
app
from
the
App
Store,
and
I’ll
email
you
an
invitation
to
join.

Good
morning!
I’m
Samuel
Davis,
and
this
is
the
ten
o’clock
news
report.
I
hope
everyone
is
having
a
fine
Monday
morning.
It’s
getting
pretty
wet
out
there,
so
grab
an
umbrella
and
stay
dry!
(17)
I’m
here
today
with
Matt
Miller,
who
has
completed
his
29,000-mile
journey
in
just
six
weeks,
with
a
total
of
180
hours
in
flight.
Beginning
in
California,
he
made
twenty-five
stops
in
fourteen
different
countries
including
England,
Italy,
Greece,
Egypt,
and
Thailand.
(18)
His
final
trip
was
a
sixteen-hour
flight
from
Hawaii
back
to
California,
just
half
an
hour
less
than
his
longest
flight
from
Samoa
to
Hawaii.
(19)
Born
in
South
Dakota,
Matt
is
a
freshman
at
Massachusetts
Institute
of
Technology,
and
has
said
that
as
a
child
he
was
scared
of
flying.
All
of
that
changed
when
he
received
his
pilot
license
at
just
seventeen.
After
that,
he
only
spent
a
few
years
planning
everything
out
before
beginning
his
journey
around
the
world.
Matt
is
here
with
us
today
for
an
interview.
Welcome
Matt!
First,
why
don’t
you
tell
all
our
listeners
about
the
craziest
thing
you
saw
during
your
adventure?
