Diwali(Deepavali)is a festival of lights observed in October or November each year in Canada. During the festival, various community groups, businesses, schools and associations celebrate it in different ways. Some companies have Diwali dinners and some communities organize gatherings that feature firework displays, dances, street lighting, and plays.
Many women wear fine jewelry and silk outfits to celebrate Diwali. Some women and girls use Mehendi, a dye decoration which can last a limited time, on their palms, and then they will finally get colorful hand paintings. Many homes that celebrate Diwali have various types of sweets, salty and spiced food as well as Diwali herbs (香料). Various lights, candles and sparklers are lit inside and outside homes, particularly in courtyards, on Diwali. Diwali is not a nationwide public holiday in Canada but it is a prevalent festival celebrated in many towns and cities. There may be traffic jams and parking places may be full in areas where events are held to celebrate Diwali. Some Indian businesses may close early on Diwali.
Diwali is called the "Festival of Lights" and is celebrated to honor Rama, a hero who once fought and won a battle against the demons(恶魔). In the past, people lit their houses to celebrate his victory over demons(light over darkness). At the same time, every household did careful and complete cleaning at home in advance. It is believed that the goddess of happiness and good fortune, Lakshmi travels around the Earth on this day and enters the house that is pure, clean, and bright.

Everyone needs a roof over their heads. It could be an apartment, a home in the woods, or a converted school bus.
For Julie Atkins, turning old school buses into tiny homes for homeless people is a great solution. She came up with the idea when she was a journalist in Ashland, Oregon and began writing stories of homeless people. She spent two years living alongside homeless people in Denver, Colorado. 揟hey want to have their own home that's safe and mobile, Atkins said.
Then she came across many families living in old school buses. She met a family with seven children in an old school bus. 揑t was in a mess, said Atkins. There was no toilet, shower or kitchen inside.
That's when the idea of Vehicles for Change was born. Atkins thought that the buses have 240 square feet of space and they are retired from schools when they are only 12 years old, so they are in good shape. You could add electricity, a kitchen, as well as a bathroom to the bus.
揟his is a project that I really think can have an impact, said Alex Daniell, who saw what Atkins was doing and offered to help. Now he is working on designing and building new buses. The buses are donated by local schools.
One of the families that just moved into their own home is the Floods. The family heard about Vehicles for Change, applied for a home and moved in on Thanksgiving Day of 2018. The bus changed their life. They not only lived happily in their own home, but also found better jobs.
It becomes popular among homeless people now. They hope to build more tiny homes in other communities around the country. To some people, it is just a school bus, but to the families who are living in them, it is home.
51. Why did Atkins want to build tiny homes for the homeless? (no more than 15 words)
52. What is Vehicles for Change according to the text? (no more than 15 words)

55. What do you think of Vehicles for Change? Please explain.(no more than 20 words)
