七选五
【答案】36.A
37.F
38.D
39.C
40.G
【分析】本文是一篇说明文。主要讲了在比赛中哪些因素影响你的表现。
36.根据下文的There
are
many
physical
factors(因素)that
play
a
part
in
sports
performance.可知,A选项中的factors和下文内容相呼应,且语意联系上下文,运动成绩受许多不同的因素影响。了解这些因素很重要。有许多身体因素在运动成绩中起作用。故选A。
37.根据下文的The
natural
talent
and
strength
of
the
players
will
make
a
difference.运动员们的天赋和力量将会发挥作用。可知F选项中的perform
better和下文中的make
a
difference是顺承关系,且语意(如果一个人身体很好,那么他当然会表现得更好)承接下文,
故选F。
38.根据上文的Also,it
is
important
to
get
enough
sleep
before
you
are
in
a
sports
event.可知,同时,充足的睡眠是很重要的,在你进行体育赛事之前。如果你累了,你可能不会像往常一样表现。其中D选项中的are
tired与上文get
enough
sleep相对应,且语意承接上文,故选D。
39.根据空后的If
you
can
figure
out
where
to
hit
the
ball
in
tennis
that
would
confuse
your
competitor,for
example,then
this
can
help
you
score
points.
例如,如果你能找出在网球击球时迷惑你的竞争对手,这可以帮助你得分。由此可知,在比赛中还有一些小方法能帮你取得胜利,故C项语意(此外,还有一些方法可以玩得更聪明,做得更好),故选C。
40.G.
There
are
many
psychological
factors
that
can
play
a
part
in
how
well
you
perform.
根据下文的If
someone
is
very
pessimistic
about
a
game,for
example,and
is
sure
that
he
will
lose,then
he
might
increase
his
chances
of
doing
so.
如果一个人对比赛很消极,确信他会失败,所以此处表示心理因素会影响你的表现,故G项能承接下文,其中pessimistic和psychological
factors是相对应的,故选G。

For
Deaf
People,
Face
Masks
with
Windows
Mean
More
Than
Smiles
For
the
last
few
months,
Michael
Conley
has
felt
very
alone.
Conley
is
a
deaf
man,
and
he
reads
lips
to
understand
what
people
are
saying
to
him.
However,
people
have
been
wearing
masks
to
help
slow
the
spread
of
COVID-19,
a
new
virus
that
spreads
from
person
to
person
when
infected
people
breathe
out
virus
particles
(颗粒).
People
who
are
deaf
and
hard
of
hearing
communicate
in
many
different
ways.
Some
might
learn
to
read
lips.
Many
people
also
use
American
Sign
Language
(ASL).
It
is
a
way
to
communicate
using
gestures
and
signs
for
people
who
are
deaf
and
hard
of
hearing.
For
both
reading
lips
and
ASL,
being
able
to
see
someone’s
face
and
facial
expressions
is
critically
important.
Particularly
for
ASL,
facial
expressions
play
a
role
in
grammar
and
wording.
Helping
Lip
Readers
See
Mouths
Move
Conley
told
his
co-worker,
Chris
LaZich,
about
his
situation.
LaZich
asked
her
friend,
Helton,
for
help.
Ingrid
Helton
is
a
costume
designer
with
the
San
Diego
Opera.
She
makes
masks
with
plastic
windows
for
hearing
people
to
wear,
making
it
possible
for
lip
readers
to
see
mouths
move.
For
a
long
time,
lip
readers
have
struggled
to
understand
hospital
workers
who
wear
masks.
The
problem
has
only
gotten
worse
during
COVID-19.
Many
interpreters
for
the
deaf
have
not
been
able
to
enter
hospitals
because
they
could
catch
the
virus.
More
Challenges
For
Deaf
People
Now,
more
people
are
wearing
masks
outside
of
hospitals,
too.
This
creates
even
more
challenges
for
deaf
people.
When
people
began
wearing
masks,
Conley
felt
cut
off
from
the
world.
Since
he
could
not
read
lips,
he
did
not
know
when
people
were
speaking
to
him
or
what
they
were
saying.
Conley
was
nervous
to
go
to
the
pharmacy
or
the
grocery
store.
Once,
he
felt
so
nervous
to
enter
his
favorite
restaurant
that
he
waited
outside
for
45
minutes.
He
did
not
know
what
he
would
do
if
a
masked
worker
asked
him
questions
about
his
order.
Luckily,
the
employee
recognized
him
and
pulled
down
her
mask
to
talk
to
Conley.
Conley
was
grateful
for
her
action.
Not
everyone
knows
Conley,
though,
and
would
not
know
he
is
deaf.
He
carries
pieces
of
paper
with
him
so
he
can
ask
people
to
write
what
they
are
saying.
This
way,
other
people
don’t
have
to
remove
their
mask.
However,
it
also
means
touching
the
same
paper.
Touching
common
surfaces
can
spread
germs.
Spreading
germs
risks
contracting
COVID-19.
Because
of
that,
Conley
was
refused
service
many
times.
“It
makes
you
lose
your
confidence,”
said
Conley,
who
has
been
deaf
his
entire
life.
However,
Helton’s
windowed
masks
helped
him
get
his
independence
back.
Conley
and
his
co-worker,
Chris
LaZich,
tried
out
the
masks
and
he
had
no
trouble
reading
LaZich’s
lips.

C
Every
year
in
mid-November,
nature
treats
us
to
one
of
her
most
spectacular
firework
displays
in
the
form
of
the
Leonid
meteors
(狮子座流星雨).
A
meteor
is
a
space
rock
that
enters
the
Earth’s
atmosphere,
and
as
it
falls
to
the
Earth,
the
air
resistance
(阻力)
makes
it
extremely
hot.
What
we
see
is
a
“shooting
star”.
When
the
Earth
meets
many
meteors
at
once,
we
call
it
a
meteor
shower.
Over
the
course
of
a
few
nights,
the
number
of
shooting
stars
increases,
reaching
a
peak
rate
of
up
to
1,000
meteors
an
hour.
The
galactic
(星系的)
storm
happens
when
the
Earth
passes
through
the
broken
rock
pieces
left
by
the
Temple-Tuttle
comet
as
it
approaches
the
Sun
on
its
33-year
orbit.
As
the
Earth
crosses
the
comet’s
trail
(尾迹)
,
grains
of
dust
hit
the
Earth
at
44
miles
per
hour
and
turn
to
water
high
up
in
the
atmosphere,
burning
up
in
a
flash
of
light.
The
size
of
the
storm
varies
from
year
to
year,
and
the
dust
seen
burning
up
on
an
annual
basis
is
usually
dust
that
was
deposited
(沉积)
well
over
one
hundred
years
previously.
Although
they
have
been
part
of
the
calendar
of
the
sky
for
thousands
of
years,
the
Leonid
meteors
can
bring
surprises.
Quite
recently,
astronomers
were
astonished
when
a
series
of
bright
fireballs
flashed
across
the
sky
a
day
earlier
than
they’d
expected.
Since
then,
however,
they
have
improved
their
computer
equipment
and
announced
that
they
can
now
predict
the
shooting
star
peak
to
within
one
minute.
If
you’re
hoping
to
catch
the
display,
you
should
seek
out
a
clear,
dark
site
away
from
street
lights
if
possible,
as
they
will
decrease
the
clarity
of
the
meteor
shower.
And
rather
than
focusing
on
one
part
of
the
sky,
you
would
be
well
advised
to
keep
your
eyes
moving
over
as
much
of
the
sky
as
possible.
28.
What
can
we
learn
about
shooting
stars
from
the
first
paragraph?
A.
The
number
of
them
can
reach
1,000
per
hour
for
some
nights.
B.
We
can
see
1,000
of
them
per
hour
during
the
first
night.
C.
The
number
of
them
increases
by
1,000
per
hour.
D.
We
can
see
at
most
1,000
of
them
a
night.
29.
What
are
burning
up
during
a
meteor
shower?
A.
Deposits
that
vary
from
year
to
year.
B.
Deposits
that
are
thousands
of
years
old.
C.
Deposits
that
are
often
over
one
hundred
years
old.
D.
Deposits
left
in
the
atmosphere
over
the
same
year.
30.
What
are
astronomers
able
to
do
now?
A.
Adjust
their
observation
equipment
within
a
minute.
B.
Correctly
count
the
number
of
stars
falling
in
a
minute.
C.
Use
their
new
equipment
to
watch
the
stars
more
clearly.
D.
Accurately
predict
when
the
greatest
number
of
shooting
stars
appear.
31.
What
is
the
main
purpose
of
the
text?
A.
To
describe
how
comets
travel.
B.
To
introduce
the
process
of
meteors’
formation.
C.
To
provide
information
about
the
Leonid
meteors.
D.
To
explain
how
astronomers
make
their
observations.

Researchers
say
they
have
translated
the
meaning
of
gestures
that
wild
chimpanzees
(黑猩猩)
use
to
communicate.
They
say
wild
chimps
communicate
19
specific
messages
to
one
another
with
a
"vocabulary"
of
66
gestures.
The
scientists
discovered
this
by
following
and
filming
groups
of
chimps
in
Uganda,
and
examining
more
than
5,000
incidents
of
these
meaningful
exchanges.
Dr
Catherine
Hobaiter,
who
led
the
research,
said
that
this
was
the
only
form
of
intentional
communication
to
be
recorded
in
the
animal
kingdom.
Only
humans
and
chimps,
she
said,
had
a
system
of
communication
where
they
deliberately
sent
a
message
to
another
group
member.
"That's
what's
so
amazing
about
chimp
gestures,"
she
said.
"They're
the
only
thing
that
looks
like
human
language
in
that
respect.
”
Although
previous
research
has
shown
that
apes
and
monkeys
can
understand
complex
information
from
another
animal's
call,
the
animals
do
not
appear
to
use
their
voices
intentionally
to
communicate
messages.
This
was
a
significant
difference
between
calls
and
gestures,
Dr
Hobaiter
said.
Chimps
will
check
to
see
if
they
have
the
attention
of
the
animal
with
which
they
wish
to
communicate.
In
one
case,
a
mother
presents
her
foot
to
her
crying
baby,
signaling:"
Climb
on
me.
"
The
youngster
immediately
jumps
on
to
its
mothers
back
and
they
travel
off
together.
"The
big
message
from
this
study
is
that
there
is
another
species
(物种)
out
there.
that
is
meaningful
in
its
communication,
so
that's
not
unique
to
humans,"
said
Dr
Hobaiter.
Dr
Susanne
Shultz,
an
evolutionary
biologist
from
the
University
of
Manchester,
said
the
study
was
praiseworthy
in
seeking
to
enrich
our
knowledge
of
the
evolution
of
human
language.
But,
she
added,
the
results
were
"a
little
disappointing".
"The
vagueness
of
the
gesture
meanings
suggests
either
that
the
chimps
have
little
to
communicate,
or
we
are
still
missing
a
lot
of
the
information
contained
in
their
gestures
and
actions,"
she
said.
"Moreover,
the
meanings
seem
to
not
go
beyond
what
other
animal
convey
with
non-verbal
communication.
So,
it
seems
the
gulf
remains.
"
32.
What
do
chimps
and
humans
have
in
common
according
to
Dr
Hobaiter?
A.
Memorizing
specific
words.
B.
Understanding
complex
information.
C.
Using
voices
to
communicate.
D.
Communicating
messages
on
purpose.
33.
What
did
Dr
Shultz
think
of
the
study?
A.
It
was
well
designed
but
poorly
conducted.
B.
It
was
a
good
try
but
the
findings
were
limited.
C.
It
was
inspiring
but
the
evidence
was
unreliable.
D.
It
was
a
failure
but
the
methods
deserved
praise.
34.
What
does
the
underlined
word
"gulf"
in
the
last
paragraph
mean?
A.
Difference.
B.
Conflict.
C.
Balance.
D.
Connection.
35.
Which
of
the
following
is
the
best
title
for
the
text?
A.

B.
Chimpanzees

(满分25分)
阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
Pumpkin
(南瓜)
carving
at
Halloween
is
a
family
tradition.
We
visit
a
local
farm
every
October.
In
the
pumpkin
field,
I
compete
with
my
three
brothers
and
sister
to
seek
out
the
biggest
pumpkin.
My
dad
has
a
rule
that
we
have
to
carry
our
pumpkins
back
home,
and
as
the
eldest
child
I
have
an
advantage-I
carried
an
85-pounder
back
last
year.
This
year,
it
was
hard
to
tell
whether
my
prize
or
the
one
chosen
by
my
14-year-old
brother,
Jason,
was
the
winner.
Unfortunately
we
forgot
to
weigh
them
before
taking
out
their
insides,
but
I
was
determined
to
prove
my
point.
All
of
us
were
hard
at
work
at
the
kitchen
table,
with
my
mom
filming
the
annual
event.
I’m
unsure
now
why
I
thought
forcing
my
head
inside
the
pumpkin
would
settle
the
matter,
but
it
seemed
to
make
perfect
sense
at
the
time.
With
the
pumpkin
resting
on
the
table,
hole
uppermost,
I
bent
over
and
pressed
my
head
against
the
opening.
At
first
I
got
jammed
just
above
my
eyes
and
then,
as
I
went
on
with
my
task,
unwilling
to
quit,
my
nose
briefly
prevented
entry.
Finally
I
managed
to
put
my
whole
head
into
it,
like
a
cork
(软木塞)
forced
into
a
bottle.
I
was
able
to
straighten
up
with
the
huge
pumpkin
resting
on
my
shoulders.
My
excitement
was
short-lived.
The
pumpkin
was
heavy.
“I’m
going
to
set
it
down,
now,”
I
said,and
with
Jason
helping
to
support
its
weight,I
bent
back
over
the
table
to
give
it
somewhere
to
rest.
It
was
only
when
I
tried
to
remove
my
head
that
I
realized
getting
out
was
going
to
be
less
straightforward
than
getting
in.
When
I
pulled
hard,
my
nose
got
in
the
way.
I
got
into
a
panic
as
I
pressed
firmly
against
the
table
and
moved
my
head
around
trying
to
find
the
right
angle,
but
it
was
no
use.
“I
can’t
get
it
out!”
I
shouted,
my
voice
sounding
unnaturally
loud
in
the
enclosed
space.
