Even
as
Google
plans
to
test
its
fleet
(车队)
of
self-driving
cars
on
public
roads
this
summer,
its
business
model
remains
a
bit
of
a
mystery.
By
2025,
as
many
as
250,
000
self-driving
vehicles
could
be
sold
each
year
globally,
according
to
a
study
by
an
industry
research
firm.
“Vehicles
that
can
take
anyone
from
A
to
B
at
the
push
of
a
button
could
transform
mobility
for
millions
of
people,”
said
Chris
Urmson,
director
of
Google's
self-driving
car
project.
For
now,
Google
has
no
plans
to
sell
any
of
its
self-driving
cars.
They
are
strictly
for
research.
But
they
will
hit
public
roads
this
summer
near
Google's
headquarters
in
Mountain
View,
California.
Previous
testing
has
taken
place
only
on
closed
courses.
The
cars
are
built
to
operate
without
a
steering
wheel,
accelerator
or
brake
pedal.
“Our
software
and
sensors
do
all
the
work,

Urmson
said.
“the
vehicles
will
be
very
basic
--
we
want
to
learn
from
them
and
adapt
them
as
quickly
as
possible
--
but
they
will
take
you
where
you
want
to
go
at
the
push
of
a
button.

The
prototype
(雏形)
are
the
first
of
a
100-car
fleet
the
tech
giant
is
building.
In
the
long
run,
Urmson
sees
a
future
of
safer
roads
--
the
majority
of
auto
accidents
are
caused
by
human
error
--
and
fewer
traffic
jams.
Robotic
cars
could
also
shuttle
people
who
can't
drive
because
of
age
or
illness.
Google
has
said
that
self-driving
cars
could
launch
new
business
models
in
which
people
buy
the
use
of
vehicles
they
don't
own.
The
company
has
already
tested
other
types
of
self-driving
cars
on
public
streets,
including
modified
Lexus
sport-utility
vehicles,
under
a
special
permit
program
by
the
California
Department
of
Motor
Vehicles
that
requires
a
human
driver
at
the
controls.
The
state
has
issued
six
other
companies
permits
to
operate
such
cars,
including
Delphi,
Mercedes-Benz,
Volkswagen,
Tesla,
Bosch
and
Nissan.
The
vehicles
that
will
be
tested
on
open
roads
this
summer
will
have
removable
steering
wheels,
accelerators
and
brake
pedals
to
allow
“safety
drivers”
to
take
control
if
needed.
Google
says
the
cars
are
safe.
The
vehicles
have
sensors
that
“can
detect
objects
out
to
a
distance
of
more
than
two
football
fields
in
all
directions,
which
is
especially
helpful
on
busy
streets
with
lots
of
intersections,

Urmson
said.
“We're
looking
forward
to
learning
how
the
community
understands
and
interacts
with
the
vehicles,
and
to
uncovering
challenges
that
are
unique
to
a
fully
self-driving
vehicle,

Urmson
said.

have
already
passed
necessary
tests
C.
will
keep
the
drivers
in
good
spirits
D.
have
been
purchased
by
some
companies
22.
According
to
Chris
Urmson_____.
A.
software
and

Wood
has
many
great
characteristics
that
make
it
the
perfect
building
material.
It
is
cheap,
durable,
easily
available,
and
most
importantly,
environmentally
sustainable.
The
one
thing
it
is
not,
is
transparent!
Now
thanks
to
a
team
of
scientists
at
Stockholm’s
KTH
Royal
Institute
of
Technology
the
material
may
even
be
able
to
add
that
feature
to
its
already
impressive
list.
Lead
researcher
Dr,
Lars
Berglund
said
he
was
inspired
to
create
the
transparent
wood
after
learning
how
Japanese
researchers
had
developed
a
see-through
paper
for
use
in
flexible
display
screens
for
electronic
devices.
The
team
began
by
pulling
out
the
wood’s
lignin(木质素).
The
lignin-free
wood
was
then
dipped
into
a
polymer(聚合物)and
baked
at
a
temperature
of
158°F
for
four
hours.
The
result
was
a
hybrid
product
that
was
not
only
stronger
and
lighter
than
the
original
wood
but
also,
almost
transparent.
The
researchers
were
able
to
adjust
the
level
of
transparency
by
varying
the
amount
of
the
polymer
injected
and
also
by
changing
the
thickness
of
the
wood.
While
scientists
have
previously
created
a
see-through
wood
for
small-scale
applications
like
computer
chips,
the
transparent
wood
is
the
first
one
to
be
considered
for
large
scale
applications.
The
researchers,
who
revealed
their
findings
in
Biomacromolecules
on
April
11,
picture
using
the
transparent
wood
in
buildings
to
allow
for
more
natural
light,
or
to
create
windows
that
let
in
the
desired
amount
of
light
without
sacrificing
privacy.
Wood
that
allows
light
to
pass
through
could
lead
to
a
brighter
future
for
homes
and
buildings.
Berglund
also
thinks
the
wood
could
play
a
significant
role
in
the
design
of
solar
panels.
The
semitransparent
material
would
be
able
to
keep
light
longer
and
give
it
more
time
to
interact
with
the
conductor,
thus
resulting
in
better
solar
efficiency.
Additionally,
substituting
the
currently
used
glass
with
this
new
product
would
help
solar
energy
manufacturers
improve
their
carbon
footprint
and
lower
the
cost.
They
are
now
experimenting
with
ways
to
scale
up
the
manufacturing
process
so
that
the
transparent
material
is
cost-effective
to
make
and
easy
to
use.
24.

does
the
underlined
part“that
feature”in
Paragraph
1
refer
to?

25.
Which
of
the
following
correctly
shows
the
process
in
which
the
transparent
wood
is
made?
①Dip
the
wood
into
a
polymer.
②Adjust
the
amount
of
the
polymer.
③Make
the
wood
lignin-free.

the
wood
for
some
time.

wood’s
hardness.
C.
The
transparent
wood
would
be
used
only
for
homes
and
buildings.

wood
still
needs
to
be
cut
down.

Growing
up,
Deka
Ismail
says
she
let
labels
define
what
she
could
be.
“I
was
a
black
girl,
from
a
refugee
family,”
Deka
said.
“It
was
as
if
I
was
only
allowed
to
explore
in
this
predetermined
(命中注定的)
box.”
After
a
high
school
chemistry
class
inspired
her
to
think
about
a
career
in
science
and
gave
her
confidence
in
the
field,
Deka
learned
to
live
outside
labels
and
began
making
big
plans
for
her
future.
Now
she
is
about
to
begin
her
freshman
year
at
the
University
of
California,
planning
to
become
a
professor.
Born
and
raised
in
San
Diego's
City
Heights
neighborhood,
Deka
is
the
daughter
of
a
Somali
refugee
couple.
When
Deka
was
eight
years
old,
her
mother
got
a
job
by
studying
hard
back
in
school
in
order
to
support
the
whole
family.
That
made
Deka
realize
that
education
could
make
a
difference
to
one's
life.
She
spent
a
lot
of
time
in
the
library
reading
books,
and
didn't
do
many
of
the
things
her
peers
did,
like
partying
or
having
romantic
relationships.
“I
always
felt
like
I
had
to
be
the
perfect
girl
for
my
family,”
Deka
said.
“You
have
to
do
your
best
and
do
much
better
than
everyone
else.
I
felt
like
the
whole
world
was
waiting
for
me
to
mess
up.”
Deka's
efforts
paid
off.
The
summer
before
her
senior
year
of
high
school,
she
was
accepted
to
the
American
Chemical
Society
Project
SEED
Programme.
“She
brought
both
enthusiasm
and
focus,”
Botham,
a
researcher
at
this
research
institute,
recalled.
“She
arrived
every
day
ready
to
work,
ready
to
learn
and
ready
to
tackle
new
challenges
regardless
of
whether
or
not
she
had
done
anything
similar.”
When
asked
what
advice
she
would
give
to
others
like
her,
Deka
warned
them
not
to
underestimate
themselves.
“Don't
tell
yourself
that
scholarship
is
too
big
or
this
programme
is
too
competitive
or
I'll
never
get
into
this
school,”
she
said.
“I
was
not
sure
whether
I
could
make
it
until
I
started
seeing
the
acceptance
letters
rolling
in.”
28.
From
the
passage,
we
can
learn
that
_____.
A.
Deka
was
adopted
by
a
refugee
family
B.
Deka
spent
a
lot
of
time
going
to
parties
C.
Deka
finally
became
a
professor
after
graduation
D.
Deka's
experiences
drove
her
to
work
hard
29.
Deka
realized
the
importance
of
education
_____.
A.
after
her
chemistry
class
B.
from
her
mother's
experience
C.
by
reading
books
in
the
library
D.
through
working
at
the
institute
30.
According
to
the
last
paragraph,
Deka
advised
that
students
be
______.
A.
confident
B.
ambitious
C.
patient
D.
generous
31.
What
does
the
story
intend
to
tell
us?
A.
Life
is
not
all
roses.
B.
Practice
makes
perfect.
C.
Hard
work
leads
to
success.
D.
Well
begun
is
half
done.
D
It's
true
that
high-school
coding
(编程)
classes
aren't
essential
for
learning
computer
science
in
college.
Students
without
experience
can
catch
up
after
a
few
introductory
courses,
said
Tom
Cortina,
a
professor
at
Carnegie
Mellon's
School
of
Computer
Science.
However,
Cortina
said,
early
exposure
is
beneficial.
When
younger
kids
learn
computer
science,
they
learn
that
it's
not
just
a
confusing,
endless
string
of
letters
and
numbers
but
a
tool
to
build
apps,
or
create
artwork,
or
test
hypotheses(假说).
It's
not
as
hard
for
them
to
transform
their
thought
processes
as
it
is
for
older
students.
Breaking
down
problems
into
bite-sized
chunks
(块)
and
using
code
to
solve
them
becomes
normal.
Giving
more
children
this
training
could
increase
the
number
of
people
interested
in
the
field
and
help
fill
the
jobs
gap,
Cortina
said.
Students
also
benefit
from
learning
something
about
coding
before
they
get
to
college,
where
introductory
computer
science
classes
are
packed
to
the
brim
(边缘),
which
can
drive
the
less-experienced
or-determined
students
away.
The
Flatiron
School,
where
people
pay
to
learn
programming,
has
become
popular
for
adults
looking
for
a
career
change.
The
high-schoolers
get
the
same
curriculum,
but
"we
try
to
adjust
lessons
based
on
things
they're
interested
in,"
said
Victoria
Friedman,
an
instructor.
For
instance,
one
of
the
apps
the
students
are
developing
suggests
movies
based
on
your
mood.
The
students
in
the
Flatiron
class
probably
won't
drop
out
of
high
school
and
build
the
next
Facebook.
Programming
languages
have
a
quick
turnover,
so
the
"Ruby
on
Rails"
language
they
learned
may
not
even
be
relevant
by
the
time
they
enter
the
job
market.
But
the
skills
they
learn
--
how
to
think
logically
through
a
problem
and
organize
the
results
--
apply
to
any
coding
language,
said
Deborah
Seehorn,
an
education
consultant
for
the
state
of
North
Carolina.
Indeed,
the
Flatiron
students
might
not
go
into
IT
at
all.
But
creating
a
future
army
of
coders
is
not
the
only
purpose
of
the
classes.
These
kids
are
going

根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
The

of
you
stay
up
late
every
night,
and
you
may
plan
to
make

for
the
lost
sleep
time
on
weekends.
36._____
A
study
published
in
the
journal
Current
Biology
shows
that
the
habit
of
sleeping
in
on
weekends
doesn't
fix
the
damage
done
by
lack
of
sleep
during
the
week.
37._____
In
the
study,
which
was
conducted
over
10
days,
36
healthy
young
men
and
women
with
different
sleep
requirements
were
divided
into
three
groups.
The
first
and
second
groups
were
asked
to
sleep
nine
hours
and
five
hours
a
night
respectively.
The
members
of
the
third
group
slept
for
five
hours
on
weekdays
but
rested
as
long
as
they
wanted
on
the
weekend.
The
researchers
found
that
people
who
lacked
sleep
ate
more
snacks
and
gained
weight
quickly.
38._____
That
could
be
partially
due
to
the
shifting(变化)
of
the
biological
clock
and
changes
to
certain
body
hormones,
especially
hunger
hormones.
39._____
So,
their
biological
clocks
shifted,
which
also
changed
the
release
of
hunger
hormones."The
hormone
leptin
(瘦素)
decreases
appetite,
while
the
hormone
ghrelin
(饥饿素)
increases
appetite,"
explained
US
researcher
Vsevolod
Polotsky.
"Sleep
deprivation
causes
leptin
to
drop
and
ghrelin
to
rise,
so
you're
hungry
and
eat
more.
"
And
even
if
they
tried
to
sleep
for
as
long
as
they
wanted
to
during
weekends,
according
to
researchers,
it
was
still
not
enough
to
meet
standard
sleep
time
because
they
found
it
difficult
to
fall
asleep.
Moreover,
they
were
more
likely
to
show
increased
sensitivity
to
insulin
(胰岛素)
in
both
their
muscles
and
their
livers.
"
40._____
"
Polotsky
told
CNN,
because
"short,
insufficient
sleep
schedules
will
lead
to
an
inability
to
change
blood
sugar
and
increase
the
risk
of
metabolic
(新陈代谢的)
disease
in
the
long
term.
"
For
this
reason,
the
American
Academy
of
Sleep
Medicine
recommends
at
least
seven
hours
of
sleep
each
night
for
adults
and
much
more
for
children.
A.
Even
worse,
it
may
damage
your
health.
B.
But
is
it
useful
to
have
such
recovery
sleep?
C.
But
what
negative
effects
does
it
bring
about?
D.
However,
this
wasn't
the
case
for
the
first
group.
E.
That
effect
could
very
well
be
why
we
don't
see
benefits
from
weekend
sleep.
F.
To
catch
up
on
sleep
during
weekends,
people
in
the
third
group
would
habitually
eat
later.
G.
That
helps
explain
why
we
have
an
increased
risk
for
things
like
diabetes
when
lacking
sleep.

完形填空(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的四个选项(A,B,C和D)中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。
MacArthur's
love
for
sailing
dates
back
to
when
she
was
just
4
years
old,
when
she
first
got
the
opportunity
to
have
a
try
on
a
boat.
“It
kind
of
41
me
that
this
boat
had
everything
we
needed
to
take
us
anywhere
in
the
world.
And
as
a
child,
that
opened
up
everything
and
made
me
feel
the
greatest
sense
of
42
,

she
explained.
This
experience
43
a
passion
within
MacArthur
that
she
wanted
to
sail
around
the
world.
Growing
up
in
the
countryside.
she
had
no
idea
how
to
44
it.
However,
she
knew
that
was
what
she
wanted
to
do
at
some
stage.
So
she
acquired
knowledge
and
45
for
years
to
seek
her
dream
in
sailing.
Having
merely
potatoes
and
beans
every
day
for
eight
years,
she
46
could
afford
the
right
equipment.
By
reaching
such
47
goals
and
asking
technical
questions
about
48
,
MacArthur
felt
as
though
she
was
getting
49
to
her
ambition.
“The
impossible
could
be
possible
and
50
high
is
not
necessarily
such
a
crazy
thing
to
do.
"she
said.
And
it
seems
that
MacArthur's
51
to
become
a
sailor
went
beyond
her
expectations.
At
the
age
of
24,
she
started
to
52
media
attention
after
winning
the
second
place
in
the
Vendee
Globe,
a
single-handed
non-stop
yacht
(帆船)race
that
went
around
the
world.
Four
years
later,
MacArthur
chose
to
sail
for
71
days
and
14
hours,
53
more
than
26,000
miles.
This
led
to
her
scoring
a
new
record.
54
this
record
has
since
been
surpassed
(超过),
MacArthur
is
still
considered
as
Britain's
most
successful
offshore
racer.
So
when
you
know
where
you're
going,
you
can
actually
get
there—even
if
it
seems

第二节
读后续写
(25分)
阅读下面短文,
根据所给情节进行续写,
使之构成一个完整的故事.
If
there's
one
thing
I
can't
stand
people
saying,
it's,
"I'm
not
good
at
anything.
I
don't
have
any
talent.
"
I
just
don't
buy
that
at
all.
To
me,
everyone
has
at
least
one
talent,
and
while
it
sometimes
takes
you
a
lifetime
to
find,
it
does
exist.
There
was
a
time
when
I
didn't
believe
that.
What
changed
my
mind
was
a
seemingly
small
event
that
took
place
in
1953.
At
that
time
I
was
a
high
school
student.
I
was
a
funny﹣looking
skinny
boy
named
Eugene
Orowitz,
who
weighed
barely
100
pounds.
I
was
a
good
student,
but
as
far
as
I
was
concerned,
in
just
about
every
other
aspect
I
was
a
loser.
I
wanted
to
fit
in,
to
be
someone
and
do
something
well.
But
I
hadn't
found
anything
I
was
good
at.
One
sunny
afternoon,
our
gym
class
went
out
to
the
school's
running
track.
The
teacher
taught
us
all
various
track
and
field
events.
I
was
a
loser
in
all
of
them.
Then
came
the
javelin(标枪).
Suddenly
something
inside
me
began
saying,
"Try
it!
Try
it!"
I
had
to
wait
for
my
turn,
though,
trying
not
to
look
too
eager.
Finally,
when
everyone
had
had
a
chance
to
throw…the
best
throw
going
about
30
yards

I
looked
at
the
teacher.
"Hey,
Orowitz,
you
want
to
try?"
he
asked.
Embarrassed,
I
looked
down,
but
managed
to
nod
my
head.
"Well,
come
on
then,"
he
said
impatiently,
and
handed
me
the
javelin.
Behind
me
I
could
hear
some
of
my
classmates
laughing.
As
I
grasped
the
javelin
in
my
hand,
I
was
seized
with
a
strange
feeling
--
a
new--found
excitement.
For
some
crazy
reason,
I
was
relaxed
over
what
I
was
about
to
do,
even
though
I'd
never
done
it
before.
I
raised
the
javelin
over
my
head,
took
six
quick
steps
and
let
the
thing
go.
The
same
voice
that
had
urged
me
to
throw
it,
now
told
me
it
was
a
good
throw.

for
the
job
well,
because
I
have
worked
as
an
English
tutor
before,
which
will
help
me
do
the
job
better.这句话运用了which引导的非限制性定语从句。
[高分句型2]:As
far
as
I'm
concerned,
being
a
volunteer
teacher
is
helpful
to
improve
my
understanding
of
the
world.
这句话运用了动名词作主语。
读后续写:
I
watched
as
the
javelin
took
off.
I
saw
it
drawing
a
beautiful
arc
in
the
air
and
flying
lightly
over
the
mark
of
30
yards.
My
heartbeat
started
to
speed
up
with
my
nerve
tightened
like
a
full
bow.
Then
came
the
teacher's
voice
in
disbelief:"44
yards!
Oh!
My!
Eugene
Orowitz
has
thrown
out
an
incredible
record!"In
no
time,
I
was
overwhelmed
by
the
loud
cheers
of
my
classmates.
But
I
could
only
hear
the
soft
inner
voice
saying
to
me:
"Now,
you
have
your
own
talent.
"
The
teacher
walked
to
me
with
the
javelin.
"Keep
it",
he
said
encouragingly,
"You
are
going
to
be
an
excellent
Javelin
thrower.
"(Eugene
Orowitz
投出超出30码的成绩,老师鼓励他)
That
night
I
took
the
javelin
home
with
me.
I
shared
the
amazing
experience
with
my
parents
and
couldn't
wait
to
show
them
my
ability
right
after
my
story.
Supported
by
my
dear
parents,
I
applied
to
join
the
school
track
team
for
more
professional
training
and
then
began
my
practice
day
after
day.
I
had
seen
the
stars
above
the
playground
early
in
the
morning
as
well
as
late
in
the
night
and
everything
finally
paid
off
as
I
came
first
in
the
National
Javelin
Championship.
So,
here
is
what
I
want
to
tell
to
those
so﹣called
"stupid
kids":
Sometimes,
you
need
to
wait
for
your
talent
to
find
you,
not
the
other
way
around.
But
when
the
opportunity
comes,
please
seize
it
without
hesitation.
Your
talent
never
fails
you.
(Eugene
Orowitz
和父母分享自己的成功喜悦,父母鼓励他继续进行专业训练)
【分析】本文以人物为线索展开,讲述的是美国电视明星Michael
Landon(原名Eugene
Orowitz)童年时期的经历,作者是Michael
Landon本人。材料一开头就通过"everyone
has
at
least
a
talent"以及"What
changed
my
mind
was
a
seemingly
small
event
that
took
place
back
in
1953"点名文章主旨,即作者
1953
年发现了自己的一项天赋,从后文可知它是掷标枪。在材料中我们须注意到作者尝试了其他的田径项目并且都失败了,在掷标枪时也遭到了身后同学的嘲笑,最终心底里的声音告诉作者:那一掷非常不错——这些都是在续写中需要注意到的前后反差。
【详解】1.段落续写:续写第一段首句紧接上一段末句,标枪飞在空中还没有落地,但显然标枪飞得比所有预料得都远,此时可以适当描写作者的心理变化。当标枪落地后,由于那一掷刷新了最好成绩,老师、同学、作者自然对其有不同反应,须重点描写。
续写第二段说作者把标枪带回了家,这跟足球运动员上演帽子戏法后可以把球带回家当纪念品性质是不一样的。作者当时还是一名学生,没有老师的许可,是不能把学校公共财产带回家的。所以要么在上一段最后,要么在此段第二句,须对此有个交代,使情节更为连贯。标枪带回家之后,作者可能会向父母炫耀,也可能拿着标枪继续练习,甚至最终成为一名出色的标枪运动员,此处适当发挥想象即可,注意要和文章主旨呼应,点名作者找到了自己的天赋——掷标枪。
2.续写线索:标枪掷得很远——作者的感受——老师鼓励—像父母炫耀——得到父母鼓励,继续联系——感悟

Text
10W:
I
started
my
school
life
in
1961
at
the
South
Corinth
School
with
Mrs
Smith
who
taught
me
the
fundamentals
of
learning

reading.
She
was
so
proud
of
my
reading
level
that
she
often
praised
me
in
public,
which
greatly
increased
my
self-confidence.
1963
found
me
at
the
Big
School
on
Oak
Street
where
my
maths
teacher
Mrs
White
came
into
my
life.
She
was
like
a
mother
to
me
because
she
paid
the
same
amount
of
attention
to
our
health
as
our
study.
In
1966
I
was
in
Mrs
Jackson5
s
fifth-grade
class.
She
inspired
us
to
learn
chemistry
by
teaching
it
through
games,
which
benefited
me
a
lot
later.
Two
years
later,
I
was
in
the
Corinth
High
School.
It
was
a
whole
new
world
where
several
teachers
shared
your
day.
Among
them,
Mr
Best,
our
science
teacher,
was
the
coolest
one.
I
hated
science
but
learned
a
lot
from
him
as
he
always
encouraged
us
to
do
what
we
wanted
to
do.
Mr
Nolan
taught
us
history
and
made
us
better
citizens.
He
made
sure
when
we
turned
18
we
registered
to
vote.
As
teenagers,
some
of
our
teachers
became
our
life
-
long
friends.
We
looked
to
them
for
sup?port
,guidance
and
approval.
But
we
had
to
leave
them
one
day.
In
1974,
I
graduated,
and
left
be?hind
the
support
group
that
had
guided
me
through
thirteen
years
in
my
life.
