be familiar with…熟悉…;be popular with…受…欢迎;be similar to…
先行词是The science Museum, 且在从句中做visited的宾语,故用which; that不能引导非限定性定语从句。
先行词是a gold watch, the hands of which=whose hands。
14.C It 做形式主语,后面的watching myself on TV为句子的真正主语。
in need of…
17.C 此题中it做形式宾语,真正的宾语为when and where 引导的从句。
18.A 空白处补充完整为:as much as that one costs.
根据意思,两个人做事,否定A、C两项,因为none指三者或三者以上的人或物;此外,定语从句的先行词two people在本句中作of的宾语,且of已提前,故用neither of whom;若选B项,需在both前加并列连词and。

Are Training Classes and Tutors Necessary
Nowadays, more and more high school students choose to attend training classes or have private tutors at weekends. Some people think it necessary to do so. Firstly, it is more effective to study with a teacher’s help than by oneself. Secondly, the students can have more chances to communicate with teachers. Besides, they can make up for what they miss or fail to understand in classes on weekdays.
Others think it unnecessary. For one thing, students can easily get into the habits of dependence. For another, students need time for rest and recreation at weekends. What’s worse, attending training classes and hiring tutors even cause some students not to listen attentively in their regular classes.
In my opinion, whether a training class or tutor is needed just depends. If the student is really very weak at or interest in a certain subject, maybe it’s OK for him or her. But be sure to choose a good and suitable class or teacher, otherwise it would be a waste of time and money. Unit5 Traveling abroad

Hunting
The days of the hunter are almost over in India. This is partly because there is practically nothing left to kill, and partly because some steps have been taken, mainly by banning tiger-shooting, to protect those animals which still survive.
Some people say that man is naturally a hunter. I disagree with this view. Surely our earliest forefathers, who at first possessed no weapons, spent their time digging for roots, and were no doubt themselves often hunted by meat-eating animals.
I believe the main reason why the modern hunter kills is that he thinks people will admire his courage in overpowering dangerous animals. Of course, there are some who truly believe that the killing us not really the important thing, and that the chief pleasure lies in the joy of the hunt and the beauties of the wild countryside. There are also those for whom hunting in fact offers a chance to prove themselves and risk death by design; these men go out after dangerous animals like tigers, even if they say they only do it to rid the countryside of a threat. I can respect reasons like these, but they are clearly different from the need to strengthen your high opinion of yourself.
The greatest big-game hunters expressed in their writings something of these finer motives. One of them wrote:
“You must properly respect what you are after and shoot it cleanly and on the animal’s own territory. You must fix forever in your mind all the wonders of that particular day. This is better than letting him grow a few years older to be attacked and wounded by his own son and eventually eaten, half alive, by other animals. Hunting is not a cruel and senseless killing- not if you kill to enrich your memories, not if you kill to feed your people.”
I can understand such beliefs, and can compare these hunters with those who hunted lions with spears and bravely caught them by the tail. But this is very different from many tiger-shoots I have seen, in which modern weapons were used. The so-called hunters fired from tall trees or from the backs of trained elephants. Such methods made tigers seem no more dangerous than rabbits.

A. They hunt old animals
B. They mistreat animals
C. They hunt for food
D. They hunt for money
44. What is the author’s view on the tiger-shoots he was seen
A. Modern hunters lack the courage to hunt face to face
B. Modern hunters should use more advanced weapons
C. Modern hunters like to hunt rabbits instead of tigers

CHICAGO(Reuters)-The U.S. youths who watch television on weekdays tend to do worse in school than those who don’t watch during the week, but weekend viewing appears to have no negative effects on schoolwork, researchers said on Monday.
The study of 4,508 middle school students ranging in age from 9 to 15 years also found schoolwork suffered among those allowed to watch adult movies and cable channels with adult programming. “Our data support the suggestion that parents limit weekday television and video game time to less than one hour and restrict (限制) access to adult media by limiting exposure to cable movie channels,” wrote study author Dr Iman Sharif of Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York.
Among students who watched no television during the week, half did excellent work at school, the study said. Among those who watched between four and seven hours per week, only 24 percent had excellent school performance. Watching television over the weekend had no detrimental effect on schoolwork, a finding that emphasized the importance of not skipping weekday homework assignments to watch television, said the study published in Pediatrics, the journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Sharif said the effect of adult content on young minds ought to be studied further.

Research has shown that a drink or two per day can reduce the chance of heart attack in adult people at risk. Now, a new study suggests this benefit also extends to healthier men who eat right and exercise. The finding may help doctors feel a bit better about advising patients to drink moderately(适量地).
“Most of the discussion about moderate drinking has tended to say that there are better ways to lower one’s heart disease risk than drinking alcohol(酒).” said Dr Kennneth J Mukaml, “But what about men who are already doing those other things ”
In the study, Mukamal’s team collected data on alcohol and heart attacks among nearly 9,000 healthy men. During the study, the men completed questionnaires(问卷) about their diet and alcohol use. All these men were nonsmokers, ate a healthful diet, exercised at least 30 minutes a day and were not overweight. From 1986 to 2002, 106 of the men had heart attacks. Of these men, eight were among the 1,282 who drank about two drinks a day, nine were among the 714 who had over two drinks a day, and 28 were among the 1,889 men who did not drink at all.
Given these findings, Mukamal thinks that guidelines about drinking and heart disease need to be rethought to consider the benefit of alcohol on healthy men. He also believes the same benefit will be seen among healthy women.
Still, Mukamal is careful about the advice that nondrinkers start drinking.
“I don’t think people should begin drinking based on a finding like ours,” he said. “Heart disease is only one of the diseases that people can develop. This study doesn’t include cancer or any other illness,” he said.

It is easy to become too focused on a desire to lose weight. You can quickly become overly critical of yourself and lose self-confidence or become depressed. To be successful, you must be filled with confidence, which requires a healthy self-image and the right motivation.
Here are some suggestions on how to boost your self-esteem.
·Read fashion magazines that portray glamorous models with a more critical eye. It’s important to recognize that these images are highly stylized. Professional makeup, lighting, and camera angles are used to create the perfect images we see in magazines and on television.
·Assess (估量) what is truly important in your life. Making a list of priorities in terms of career, travel, education or commitments can put body image into better perspective(视角).
·Turn your attention toward something other than your weight. Weight loss is a long-term task; for a short-term confidence improvement, try a new hair style or get a makeup lesson.
·Stop thinking negatively. If something negative comes to mind, write it down and then think of a positive statement to deal with it.
·Take time to look at your closet(衣柜)and choose outfits that you feel good in. Select beautiful styles that skim over problem areas like stomach and hips. Long-line jackets and blouses and long flowing skirts have a slimming effect. Being bold with colors and jewelry to create a style that makes you feel confident will help distract attention from your weight.
53. What is the meaning of “critical” in Paragraph1
A. Satisfied B. Confident C. Doubt D. Strict
54. According to the whole passage, in order to improve self-esteem, which one is not necessary
