What is a park What is a park for
A park is a place for people to experience nature in a peaceful environment. In China, parks usually contain water, rocks, bridges and pavilions. In the west, parks are generally considered to be large enclosed (被围起来的)areas of land with grass and trees.
The general purpose of a park is for people to walk in it for pleasure or for children to play in it.

A theme park is a large area based on a specific subject such as water, food, culture, science or history. In these parks, there are a lot of things for people to see and do. They have big rides or games to play. They have restaurants or even hotels. People, especially children, enjoy visiting these places.

Disneyland
Named for its creator, Walt Disney, Disneyland attracts millions of visitors each year. The theme park opened in California, in 1955. It occupies a 75-acre site and has different sections devoted to specific themes. A second and larger amusement complex, Walt Disney World, was opened near Orlando, Florida, in 1971. In 1983, Tokyo Disneyland was opened. In 1992, the Disney Company completed the building of Euro Disneyland in Pairs. Hong Kong Disneyland Park was opened in September, 2005 with four parts: Main Street USA, Adventureland, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. (美国小镇大街,探险世界,幻想世界,明日世界 )
In the Disneyland, people can not only enjoy the exciting activities there, but also get close to the life-sized cartoon characters like the Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, which appear in some of Walt Disney’s famous cartoon films.
Hong Kong Ocean Park
Ocean Park is the largest leisure paradise in Southeast Asia and one of the largest marine parks in the world. Covering an area of over 200 acres, the park was built on both sides of a mountain. A cable car system links the lowland and headland sections and provides spectacular views of Hong Kong and the South China Sea. There are over 40 major attractions in this park.
China Folk Cultural Village is the first large –scale cultural and scenic spot assembling (聚集)folk arts, customs and folk villages. With an area of 200 thousand square meters and 24 life-sized villages with houses and streets, China Folk Cultural Village reflects the colorful Chinese culture in many respects. The performances of folk dancing and singing and large-scale joint performance on the Folk Cultural Plaza(广场)vividly display Chinese folk arts.

World Water park , located in Canada , covering over 5 acres with 20 water activities, is a theme park where people can take part in all kinds of activities in water indoors.
Central Park
Central Park is a city park in the borough(区) of Manhattan, New York City. The park offers varied scenery, with small rocky hills, wooden slopes, lawns, four lakes, two ponds and a pool. There are 22 children’s playgrounds, a carousel (旋转木马) and a children’s zoo. Facilities are provided within the park for row boating, ice skating, roller skating, baseball, softball, football and so on. In the summer, Central Park is the site of free concerts.
