阅读理解
A
(2021·安徽模拟)
It’s
true
that
quite
a
few
most
respected
scientific
authorities
have
confirmed
that
the
world
is
becoming
hotter
and
hotter.
There’s
also
strong
evidence
that
humans
are
contributing
to
the
warming.
Countless
recent
reports
have
proved
the
same
thing.
For
instance,
a
2010
summary
about
the
climate
science
by
the
Royal
Society
noted
that:
“The
global
warming
over
the
last
half-century
has
been
caused
mainly
by
human
activity.
”
You
may
not
believe
that
humans
could
change
the
planet’s
climate,
but
the
basic
science
is
well
understood.
Each
year,
billions
of
tons
of
greenhouse
gases
are
released
into
the
atmosphere
because
of
human
activity.
As
has
been
known
for
years,
these
gases
hold
heat
that
would
otherwise
escape
to
space,
wrapping
the
planet
in
an
invisible
blanket.
Of
course,
the
earth’s
climate
has
always
been
changing
due
to
“natural”
factors
such
as
volcanic
eruption
or
changes
in
solar,
or
cycles
concerning
the
Earth’s
going
around
the
sun.
According
to
the
scientific
research,
however,
the
warming
observed
by
now
matches
the
pattern
of
warming
we
would
expect
from
a
build-up
of
greenhouse
gas
in
the
atmosphere—not
the
warming
we
would
expect
from
other
possible
causes.
Even
if
scientists
did
discover
another
reasonable
explanation
for
the
warming
recorded
so
far,
that
would
give
birth
to
a
difficult
question.
As
Robert
Henson
puts
it:
“If
some
newly
discovered
factor
is
to
blame
for
the
climate
change,
then
why
aren’t
carbon
dioxide
and
the
other
greenhouse
gases
producing
the
warming
that
basic
physics
tells
us
they
should
be?
”
The
only
way
to
prove
with
100%
certainty
that
humans
are
responsible
for
global
warming
would
be
to
run
an
experiment
with
two
identical
Earths—one
with
human
influence
and
one
without.
That
obviously
isn’t
possible,
and
so
most
scientists
are
careful
not
to
state
human
influence
as
an
absolute
certainty.

分析:
as引导非限制性定语从句,
修饰后面整个句子。that引导另一个定语从句,
修饰heat。wrapping
the
planet
in
an
invisible
blanket是现在分词短语作伴随状语。
翻译:

B
Walk
through
the
Amazon
rainforest
today
and
you
will
find
it
steamy,
warm,
damp
and
thick.
But
if
you
had
been
there
around
15,
000
years
ago,
during
the
last
ice
age,
would
it
have
been
the
same?
For
more
than
30
years,
scientists
have
been
arguing
about
how
rainforests
might
have
reacted
to
the
cold,
dry
climate
of
the
ice
ages,
but
till
now,
no
one
has
reached
a
satisfying
answer.
Rainforests
like
the
Amazon
are
important
for
mopping
up
CO2
from
the
atmosphere
and
helping
to
solve
global
warming.
Currently
the
trees
in
the
Amazon
take
in
around
500
million
tons
of
CO2
each
year:
equal
to
the
total
amount
of
CO2
given
off
in
the
UK
each
year.
But
how
will
the
Amazon
react
to
the
future
climate
change?
If
it
gets
drier,
will
it
survive
and
continue
to
draw
down
CO2?
Scientists
hope
that
they
will
be
able
to
learn
in
advance
how
the
rainforest
will
manage
in
the
future
by
understanding
how
rainforests
reacted
to
climate
change
in
the
past.
Unfortunately,
collecting
information
is
incredibly
difficult.
To
study
the
past
climate,
scientists
need
to
look
at
fossilized
pollen
(花粉)
kept
in
lake
mud.
Going
back
to
the
last
ice
age
means
drilling
down
into
lake
sediments
(沉淀物),
which
requires
specialized
equipment
and
heavy
machinery.
There
are
very
few
roads
and
paths,
or
places
to
land
helicopters
and
aeroplanes.
Rivers
tend
to
be
the
easiest
way
to
enter
the
forest,
but
this
still
leaves
vast
areas
between
the
rivers
completely
unsampled
(未取样).
So
far,
only
a
handful
of
cores
have
been
drilled
that
go
back
to
the
last
ice
age
and
none
of
them
provide
enough
information
to
prove
how
the
Amazon
rainforest
reacts
to
climate
change.

past
climate
change?
A.
By
predicting
the
climate
change
in
the
future.
B.
By

into
land
sediments.
C.
By
taking
samples
from
rivers
in
the
Amazon.
D.
By
analyzing
fossilized

【解析】选D。细节理解题。根据文中第三段“To
study
the
past
climate,
scientists
need
to
look
at
fossilized
pollen
kept
in
lake
mud.
”可知研究过去气候,
科学家需要看保存在湖泥中的花粉化石。故选D。
6.
What
is
needed
for
drilling
down
into
lake
sediments?
A.
The
latest
helicopter.
B.
The
special
equipment.
C.
The
light
machinery.
D.
The

【解析】选B。细节理解题。根据文中的第三段“Going
back
to
the
last
ice
age
means
drilling
down
into
lake
sediments,
which
requires
specialized
equipment
and
heavy

”可知回到末次冰期意味着下钻到湖泊沉淀物,
这需要专门的设备和重型机械。C
选项错在
light。故选B。
7.
What

the
purpose
of
writing
the
passage?
A.
To
attract
more
people’s

people
of
how
scientists
work
on
rainforests.
D.
To
warn
people
to
stay
away
from
the
danger
of
rainforests.
【解析】选C。目的意图题。这是一篇科普文章,
通常写作目的是提供信息。A
选项是吸引更多人对二氧化碳的注意,
和文章无关;
B
选项是号召人们保护雨林,
此文不是强调保护雨林;
D
选项是警告人们远离雨林的危险,
文章没有讲到雨林的危险。故选C。
8.
The

may
be
_______.
?
A.
Mystery
of
the
Rainforest
B.
Climates
of
the
Amazon
C.
The
History
of
the
Rainforest
D.
Changes
of
the
Rainforest
【解析】选A。标题归纳题。第一段讲人们对于雨林怎样应对变化的天气一直没有满意的答案,
第二段讲述了雨林吸收二氧化碳的作用和效果,
第三段讲述的是科学家采用不同的方法去检测,
但是没有结果,
所以标题为“雨林的神秘”是最恰当的。B、C、D
选项都仅仅是文章提到的部分信息。故选A。
【难句释疑】Scientists

分析:
that引导动词hope的宾语从句,
在该宾语从句中又含有一个以how引导的
宾语从句,
作learn的宾语,
by
understanding.
.
.
是by

(2020·全国Ⅲ卷)
When
“Rise
of
the
Planet
of
the
Apes”
was
first
shown
to
the
public
last
month,
a
group
of
excited
animal
activists
gathered
on
Hollywood
Boulevard.
But
they
weren’t
there
to
throw
red
paint
on
fur-coat-wearing
film
stars.
Instead,
one
activist,
dressed
in
a
full-body
monkey
suit,
had
arrived
with
a
sign
praising
the
filmmakers:
“Thanks
for
not
using
real
apes
(猿)!
”
The
creative
team
behind“Apes”
used
motion-capture
(动作捕捉)
technology
to
create
digitalized
animals,
spending
tens
of
millions
of
dollars
on
technology
that
records
an
actor’s
performance
and

processes
it
with

to
create
a

image
(图像).
In
this
case,
one

Yet
“Apes”
is
more
exception
than
the
rule.
In
fact,
Hollywood
has
been
hot
on
live
animals
lately.
One
nonprofit
organization,
which
monitors
the
treatment
of
animals
in
filmed
entertainment,
is
keeping
tabs
on
more
than
2,

productions
this
year.
Already,
a
number
of
films,
including
“Water
for
Elephants”,
“The
Hangover
Part
Ⅱ”
and
“Zookeeper”,
have
drawn
the
anger
of
activists
who
say
the
creatures
acting
in
them
haven’t
been
treated
properly.
In
some
cases,
it’s
not
so
much
the
treatment
of
the
animals
on
set
in
the
studio
that
has
activists
worried;
it’s
the
off-set
training
and
living
conditions
that
are
raising
concerns.
And
there
are
questions
about
the
films
made
outside
the

which
sometimes
are
not
monitored
as
closely
as
productions
filmed
in

同时兼有一种对过去希望的破灭的惋惜之情。这种用法仅限于少数动词。如hope,

think,
intend,

suppose等。我们还可以用上述动词的“一般过去时+不定式完成式”来表示这种相同的特殊含义。

Cove(《海豚湾》),
directed
by
National
Geographic
photographer
Louie
Psihoyos,
was
released
in
the
United
States
a
month
ago
but
has
not
yet
to
come
out
in
Japan.
Scenes
in
the
film,
some
of
which
were
shot
secretly,
show
fishermen
banging
on
metal
poles
stuck
in
the
water
to
create
a
wall
of
sound
that
scares
the
dolphins
—
which
have
supersensitive
sonar
(声呐)
—
and
sends
them
fleeing
into
a
cove.
There,
the
fishermen
sometimes
pick
a
few
to
be
sold
for
aquarium
shows,
for
as
much
as
$150,
000.
They
kill
the
others,
spearing
the
animals
repeatedly
until
the
water
turns
red.
The
meat
from
one
dolphin
is
worth
about
50,
000
yen,
and
is
sold
at
supermarkets
across
Japan.
Greenpeace
and
other
groups
have
tried
to
stop
the
hunt
for
years.
Activists
hope
The
Cove
will
bring
the
issue
to
more
people
internationally—and
eventually
in
Japan.
Already,
the
Australian
town
of
Broome
dropped
its
28-year
sister-city
relationship
with
Taiji
last
month,
partly
because
of
the
movie.
“Some
regions
have
a
tradition
of
eating
dolphin
meat,
”
said
fisheries
official
Toshinori
Uoya.
“Dolphin-killing
may
be
negative
for
our
international
image,
but
it
is
not
something
orders
can
stop.
”
The
town
government
in
Taiji
—
which
has
made
whales
and
dolphins
its
trademark
—
refused
to
comment
about
The
Cove,
or
the
growing
international
criticism
against
dolphin-killing.
Many
in
Taiji
take
the
dolphin
hunt
for
granted
as
part
of
everyday
life.
They
are
defensive
about
The
Cove,
seeing
themselves
as
powerless
victims
of
overseas
pressure
to
end
a
simple
and
honest
way
of
making
a
living.
