导入(Lead-in):观看视频,了解美国西进运动的背景,导入故事情景
通过播放视频An
Introduction
to
Westward
Expansion,让学生简单了解美国历史上的西进运动。
(1)教师简单介绍并播放视频(见课件):
The
Westward
Expansion
took
almost
the
whole
19th
century.
American
believed
their
country
would
stretch
from
sea
(Atlantic)
to
sea
(Pacific).
Many
immigrants
put
all
their
belongings
in
a
wagon
and
moved
to
the
Wild
West.
They
faced
a
lot
of
dangers
and
hardship,
such
as
wild
animals,
Indian
attacks,
criminals
and
outlaws,
etc.
The
pioneer
spirit
is
a
very
important
factor
in
American
culture.
Now
I
am
going
to
play
a
slideshow
and
let’s
have
a
brief
look
at
the
Westward
Expansion.

看图讲故事(Storytelling):了解故事背景
教师利用课件选取播放故事前4幅图片,并用丰富的表情、生动的英文和适当的肢体语言给学生绘声绘色地讲故事,引导学生观察图片,了解故事背景。

camp
on
Chip’s
bedroom
floor.
“You
won’t

survival
kit
here,”
said
Biff.

The
adventure
began.
Biff
took
the
umbrella
with
her,
but
Chip
still
thought
it
was
silly.

3.
朗读故事(Reading
Dramatically):学会绘声绘色地朗读故事,朗读与理解相结合
承接讲故事环节,引导学生带着问题去朗读,帮助学生理解故事,抓住故事主要情节。朗读时,教师要提醒学生注意Biff的伞在冒险中起到了什么作用。

(2)通过图书馆或网络,查询美国西进运动的背景资料。有条件的可以在班里做主题演示。
