Part I: Analysis of the teaching materials.
1.Status and functions.
This is a reading and writing lesson. This part of the teaching focus is to make students master the target language through reading.At the same time let the students understand Chinese and western different cultural customs.The content of the TV report is related closely to students' actual life, so it can raise students’learning interests and improve their reading abilities
2.Analysis of the students.
Students of Grade7 have learned English for more than one term. They have mastered some skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing . They have taken a good interest in English now, they enjoy learning English. But they are poor in cooperative learning skills.
3.Teaching aims and demands.
(1)Knowledge objects.
To learn the new words: race ,study, young, American, children...
To learn some phrases: talking on the phone,making zongzi,reading a story.....
To use the target languages: be+ doing sth.
(2)Ability objects.
To develop the students’ abilities of reading and writing skills. ,especially reading for key information skills,guessing new words skills.
To train the students’ ability of working in pairs.
(3) Moral objects.
To enable the students to work with others and help each other.
Let students know about Chinese culture.Cultivate the students love the motherland, the hometown of quality.
4.Teaching key and difficult points.
Key points:New words and phrases, the understanding of the TV report.
Difficult points: To use be+ doing sth. Correctly.

Part 3: Analysis of the learning methods.
Cooperative learning methods. Each Unit of Go for it contains pair work, group work and games. The students who sit at the same table and groups can make a discussion and learn each other. It makes the students more relaxed, they needn’t worry about making mistakes, It can arouse the students to think and to say what they want to say. The students become more relaxed and pleased in this kind of environment.
Part 4. Analysis of the teaching steps.
Step 1 Warm up and lead in
1.Greetings
2.Show a clock and ask “What time is it?”, SS answer “It’s....”
(Purpose :To lead in 2a easily.)
Step 2 Before reading.
1.Show the time zones with different countries. SS make conversations in pairs.
T: It’s 9:00am in China now ,Do you know the time in other countries?
Eg: A:What time is it in New York? B:It’s eight o’clock in the afternoon.

2.Show the some pictures about Dragon Boat Festival. SS learn the new words and answer.
Qs: What special day is it ? What do Chinese people do and eat on this day?
(Purpose :To know about the time zones and prepare SS for the subsequent reading activity.)
Step 3. While reading
Task1.Scanning the TV report with the questions.
Play the recording ,SS scan the TV report ,then discuss the answers in groups and display.
Qs:1.Where is Zhu Hui now?
2. What time is it in New York?
3. Why are Zhu Hui’s family watching boat races and making zongzi?
4. Does Zhu Hui like his host family?
5.What does he think about his home in China?
Task2. Read the TV report again,the fill in then chart in groups.

Task3. Read the TV report aloud.Translate the sentences in groups and display the sentences.

(Purpose :To understand the difficulties.To develop the students’guessing the new words skills.)
Step 4.After reading
Task4. Complete 2c. Then use the phrases to write sentences according to the TV report, then display in groups.
Eg: Zhu Hui is living with an American family in New York.
The mother is reading a story to her children.
Task5. Retell the TV report according to the pictures and phrases.
SS work in groups,then retell in class.
(Purpose :To use the target languages correctly.To develop the students’presentation skills.)
Step 5 .Writing.
SS complete the letter in 3a individually, check the answers in groups. A group display their answers.
Show some pictures about a student family are doing. Talk about the pictures then writing .
(Purpose :To reduce the difficulty by talking about the pictures first).
Step6 Self check and summary.
1.Make a competition.Ask groups to write as the most words as they can in two minutes. The group with the most words win and read their lists aloud.
2.SS complete the conversation individually, correct and practice the conversation in groups.
(Purpose :Proper competition can stimulate the students' interest).
Step 7 Homework
Write about your family member are doing at 9:00pm at night.
(Purpose :To give Ss a real station).

Part 5. Analysis of the teaching aims
In this lesson, I design tasks according to the New English curriculum criterion. I want to lead my students to study and cooperate with each other. So I mainly adopt the task-based learning method. This is my teaching designing, Please give me some advice. Thank you very much.
