B
People
often
ask
how
I
decide
where
to
go,
and
I
usually
get
hesitated
with
my
response,
as
I
don’t
actually
have
an
answer
to
that.
For
more
than
three
years,
I
have
been
making
movements
with
the
universe,
travelling
from
location
to
location
at
seemingly
random
intervals.
A
friend
of
mine
posted
a
Facebook
status
asking
if
anybody
was
interested
in
a
job
teaching
English
in
China.
So
I
jumped
on
a
coming
plane.
Walking
into
my
first
class,
I
was
bombed
by
16
strange
children
who
couldn’t
understand
a
single
word
out
of
my
mouth.
When
I
walked
out
of
my
last
class,
six
months
later,
I
had
made
a
personal
connection
with
them.
Some
of
my
students
could
barely
speak
Chinese
or
English.
But
somehow,
through
determination
and
force,
we
connected.
Every
class
was
not
only
a
lesson
in
English,
but
in
good
fellowship,
being
a
role
model,
being
a
parent,
and
being
a
friend.
I
became
a
father
to
some,
an
older
brother
to
others.
I
was
loved
and
adored,
feared
and
hated.
I
had
to
learn
discipline,
and
not
only
how
to
deal
it
out,
but
how
to
discipline
and
conduct
myself
as
a
role
model.
But
in
between
the
discipline,
I
had
to
make
learning
a
fun
experience.
And
they
forgave
me
when
I
yelled
or
got
upset.
And
when
they
threw
a
temper
or
bruised
their
knees
or
missed
their
mummy,
I
forgave
them,
kissed
their
bruises
better,
and
gave
them
a
shoulder
to
cry
on.
Teaching
English
in
China
is,
by
far,
the
most
emotionally
rewarding
and
fulfilling
thing
I’ve
ever
challenged
myself
to
do.
I
have
walked
away
from
this
job
with
a
softened
heart,
knowing
that
I
have
made
a
difference
in
so
many
lives.
I
want
that.
I
want
my
teachings
to
be
reciprocal
because
they
taught
me
how
to
unconditionally
open
my
heart
and
how
to
be
a
more
loving
and
patient
person.
( )4.
What
can
we
learn
about
the
writer
before
he
came
to
China?
A.He
didn’t
have
a
fixed
job.
B.He
was
a
professional
writer.
C.He
worked
in
a
travel
agency.
D.He
taught
in
a
language
school.
( )5.
What
was
the
situation
like
when
the
writer
met
his
students
for
the
first
time?
A.Hard.
B.Exciting.
C.Touching.
D.Inspiring.
( )6.
What
can
we
infer
about
the
writer
from
Paragraph
3?
A.He
was
casual
and
patient.
B.He
was
responsible
but
sensitive.
C.He
was
cautious
but
bad-tempered.
D.He
was
self-reflective
and
considerate.
( )7.What
does
the
underlined
word
“reciprocal”
in
Paragraph
4
most
probably
mean?
A.Beneficial.
B.Interacted.
C.Encouraging.
D.Acceptable.
C
While
the
start
of
a
new
school
year
is
always
exciting,
this
year
was
even
more
so
for
some
elementary
school
students
in
Auckland,
New
Zealand.
They
became
the
world’s
first
kids
to
be
“taught”
by
a
digital
teacher.
Before
you
start
imagining
a
human-like
robot
walking
around
the
classroom,
Will
is
just
an
avatar
that
appears
on
the
student’s
desktop,
or
smartphone
screen,
when
ordered
to
come.
The
autonomous
animation
platform
has
been
modeled
after
the
human
brain
and
nervous
system,
allowing
it
to
show
human-like
behaviour.
The
digital
teacher
is
assigned
to
teach
Vector’s
“Be
sustainable
with
energy”—a
free
program
for
Auckland
elementary
schools.
Just
like
the
humans
it
replaced,
Will
is
able
to
instantly
react
to
the
students’
responses
to
the
topic.
Thanks
to
a
webcam
and
microphone,
the
avatar
not
only
responds
to
questions
the
kids
may
have,
but
also
picks
up
non-verbal
cues.
For
instance,
if
a
student
smiles
at
Will,
he
responds
by
smiling
back.
This
two-way
interaction
not
only
helps
attract
the
students’
attention,
but
also
allows
the
program’s
developers
to
monitor
their
engagement,
and
make
changes
if
needed.
Nikhil
Ravishankar
believes
that
Will-like
avatars
could
be
a
novel
way
to
catch
the
attention
of
the
next
generation.
He
says,
“I
have
a
lot
of
hope
in
this
technology
as
a
means
to
deliver
cost-effective,
rich,
educational
experience
in
the
future.”
The
program,
in
place
since
August
2018,
has
been
a
great
success
thus
far.
Ravishankar
says,
“What
was
fascinating
to
me
was
the
reaction
of
the
children
to
Will.
The
way
they
look
at
the
world
is
so
creative
and
different,
and
Will
really
captured
their
attention.”
However,
regardless
of
how
popular
it
becomes,
Will
is
unlikely
to
replace
human
educators
any
time
soon.
( )8.What
was
special
for
some
elementary
school
students
in
Auckland?
A.A
digital
teacher
taught
them.
B.They
first
saw
something
digital.
C.This
was
the
start
of
a
new
school
year.
D.They
could
get
close
to
the
smartphone
screen.
( )9.What
is
the
benefit
of
this
two-way
interaction?
A.It
can
smile
back.
B.It
can
use
a
microphone.
C.It
can
talk
any
topic
for
free.
D.It
can
change
if
necessary.
( )10.What’s
Ravishankar’s
attitude
to
Will’s
replacing
human
educators
soon?
A.Optimistic.
B.Doubtful.
C.Unclear.
D.Disapproving.
( )11.What
might
be
the
best
title
for
the
passage?
A.New
high-tech
contributes
to
education
B.The
world’s
first
digital
teacher
appears
in
classrooms
C.The
world’s
first
digital
teacher,
a
help
to
students
D.New
Zealand
will
replace
teachers
in
classrooms
D
Have
you
ever
experienced
such
an
annoying
thing
as
it
took
so
long
to
open
a
web
page?
You’re
watching
stops
every
few
minutes,
which
ruined
your
Internet
experience.
But
it
could
be
a
thing
of
the
past.
On
June
3,
the
Ministry
of
Industry
and
Information
Technology
announced
that
China
would
issue
licences
for
the
commercialization
of
5G.It
means
major
telecoms
carriers
will
start
to
provide
5G
services.
The
“G”
in
“5G”
refers
to
the
generation
of
mobile
network
technologies.
1G
let
us
talk
to
each
other,
2G
let
us
send
messages,
3G
gave
us
mobile
data
and
the
Internet,
and
4G
made
all
of
these
things
faster.
Now
5G
promises
much
faster
data
download
and
upload
speeds,
and
more
stable
connections.
This
means
that
you
will
be
able
to
download
an
entire
HD
movie
in
seconds
and
only
experience
a
short
delay
between
sending
and
receiving
data.
For
example,
when
you
have
a
video
chat
with
your
friend,
there
is
generally
a
100
to
200
milliseconds(毫秒)
delay
with
4G,
but
5G
will
reduce
the
delay
to
1
millisecond
or
less,
which
is
almost
real
time.
With
a
5G
network,
the
short
delay
in
information
exchange
will
allow
driverless
cars
to
run
more
safely,
as
they
will
be
able
to
communicate
in
real
time
and
avoid
potential
dangers.
Meanwhile,
5G-enabled
wearable
devices
will
keep
doctors
constantly
updated
on
the
health
status
of
their
patients
and
warn
them
immediately
if
there’s
something
wrong.
Besides,
VR
games
will
become
more
popular
with
5G.The
short
delay
of
5G
will
make
the
games
feel
even
more
real.
Though
5G
will
make
our
lives
more
convenient,
it
will
not
be
perfect.
For
one
thing,
5G
will
not
“travel”
far.
On
4G
networks,
you
can
be
10
kilometres
away
from
the
nearest
transmission(传输)
base
and
barely
lose
signals.
But
5G
will
only
cover
about
300
metres,
meaning
we
will
need
more
transmitters
so
that
we
can
get
signals.
And
in
order
to
use
5G,
we
will
have
to
buy
new
products
specially
designed
for
5G
that
are
currently
expensive.
( )12.What
is
the
function
of
the
first
paragraph?
A.To
provide
a
background
of
the
topic.
B.To
offer
basic
knowledge
of
the
topic.
C.To
use
an
example
to
support
the
topic.
D.To
draw
readers’
attention
to
the
topic.
( )13.According
to
the
passage,
what
is
likely
to
happen
to
our
life
with
5G?
A.Doctors
can
treat
more
patients.
B.No
drivers
are
needed
in
the
near
future.
C.Many
advanced
technologies
will
be
further
improved.
D.Children
will
hate
playing
VR
games
in
the
real
world.
( )14.What
can
be
found
when
5G
is
compared
with
4G?
A.4G
covers
smaller
areas.
 B.4G
needs
more
transmitters.
C.5G
signals
can
travel
farther.
 D.5G
costs
higher
in
early
stage.
( )15.What
is
the
text
mainly
about?
A.The
development
of
5G.
B.Challenges
that
5G
will
face.
C.Benefits
that
people
will
get
from
5G.
D.The
difference
that
5G
will
make
to
our
lives.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Beginning
with
Chinese
efforts
to
explore
and
connect
with
Central
Asia,
the
Silk
Road
consisted
of
massive
small
routes
and
was
named
after
the
silk
cloth
the
Chinese
produced.
16.
Through
these
routes,
Chinese
silk,
porcelain,
lacquer
work
and
ironware
were
shipped
to
the
West,
while
pepper,
flax,
spices,
grapes
and
pomegranates
entered
China.?
17.
They
promoted
the
flow
of
knowledge
as
well.
The
Arab
astronomy,
calendar
and
medicine
found
their
way
to
China,
while
China’s
four
great
inventions
and
silkworm
breeding
spread
to
other
parts
of
the
world.
18.
For
example,
Buddhism
originated
in
India,
blossomed
in
China
and
was
enriched
in
South-east
Asia.
Confucianism,
which
was
born
in
China,
gained
appreciation
by
European
thinkers
such
as
Leibniz
and
Voltaire.
Herein
lies
the
appeal
of
mutual
learning.?
The
ancient
silk
routes
witnessed
the
busy
scenes
of
visits
and
trade
over
land
and
ships
calling
at
ports.
Along
these
major
routes,
capital,
technology
and
people
flowed
freely.
19.
The
ancient
prosperous
cities
and
ports
developed,
so
did
the
Roman
Empire
as
well
as
Parthia
and
Kushan
Kingdoms.
The
Han
and
Tang
dynasties
of
China
entered
the
golden
age.
The
ancient
silk
routes
brought
prosperity
to
these
regions
and
contributed
to
their
development.?
Some
regions
along
the
ancient
Silk
Road
used
to
be
a
land
of
milk
and
honey.
Yet
today,
these
places
are
often
associated
with
conflict,
crisis
and
challenges.
20.
Now,
the
Belt
and
Road
Initiative
intends
to
build
an
open
platform
of
cooperation
and
a
broad
community
of
shared
interests.
It
will
not
only
achieve
economic
growth
and
balanced
development,
but
also
connect
different
civilizations.
Mutual
understanding,
mutual
respect,
and
mutual
trust
among
different
countries
will
be
boosted.?
A.More
importantly,
ideas
were
also
exchanged.
B.The
ancient
silk
routes
were
not
only
for
trade.
C.Goods,
resources
and
benefits
were
widely
shared.
D.Such
state
of
affairs
should
not
be
allowed
to
continue.
E.However,
silk
was
just
one
of
many
goods
traded
on
these
routes.
F.Large
empires
provided
stability
and
protection
for
the
trade
routes.
G.The
Silk
Road
was
never
an
actual
road,
or
even
a
single
massive
trade
route.
第二部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分)
阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。
I’d
planned
to
spend
my
weekend
in
the
sun,
enjoying
flowers
outdoors.
But
that
was
 21
the
pair
of
disgusting
crows(乌鸦)
arrived.
Out
of
nowhere,
they
had
set
up
their
base
 22
in
our
backyard.?
We
first
 23
our
feathered
enemies
on
Friday
morning.
It
was
early,
and
the
sound
the
birds
made
 24
through
our
neighbourhood.
I
figured
they’d
 25
soon.
But,
no.
They
were
getting
louder
and
probably
 26
my
neighbours
nearly
as
much
as
us
with
the
noise.
I
admit
I
got
a
little
 27 .?
Then,
on
Sunday
afternoon,
I
saw
our
dog
Quatchi
staring
at
something
on
the
ground.
I
went
to
 28
and
found
a
small
coal-black
bird
in
the
grass.
Its
eyes
were
milky,
and
it
stayed
perfectly
 29
as
my
dog
walked
towards
it.
Only
when
Quatchi
 30
his
nose
to
its
head
did
it
walk
away.
I
 31
the
dog
inside
and
came
back
with
my
camera.?
It
never
occurred
to
me
that
the
young
would
be
hanging
out
on
the
ground,
growing
and
gaining
 32
as
its
parents
guarded
it
from
above.
The
second
I
saw
this
little
creature
I
 33
the
crows.?
To
be
honest,
I’ve
never
been
much
of
a
bird
person.
And
I
wish
they’d
chosen
another
backyard.
But
I’m
also
 34
that
I
got
to
see
this
little
bit
of
nature
unfold
up
close.
It’s
pretty
amazing.?
The
experience
has
also
 35
my
desire
to
create
a
beautiful
backyard
garden
that
attracts
lots
of
bees,
butterflies,
and
yes,
birds.
They
are
welcome
here.?

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。续写的词数应为150左右。
Freddie
woke
up
to
see
it
was
snowing
again.
The
world
outside
was
white.
Snow
covered
the
roads,
the
cars,
the
houses,
and
even
the
driveway
Freddie
had
just
shoveled(铲)
the
day
before.
“Ugh,”
said
Freddie.
“No
more
snow!”He
got
out
of
bed
and
headed
to
the
bathroom
for
his
regular
morning
shower.
As
he
reached
for
the
tap,
his
mother
appeared
in
the
doorway.
“I’ve
got
news,”she
said.
“There’s
been
so
much
snow
overnight
that
the
roads
are
slippery
and
dangerous.
I
just
heard
on
the
radio
that
they
canceled
the
school
buses
for
the
day.”
Freddie
groaned,“Then
how
am
I
supposed
to
get
to
school?”
His
mum
grinned,
“I
guess
you
don’t.
It’s
a
snow
day!”
Freddie’s
eyes
lit
up.
He’d
never
had
a
snow
day
off
from
school
before.
What
would
he
do
first?
“I’m
going
back
to
bed!”
Freddie
headed
back
to
his
room
and
climbed
under
the
covers.
After
a
few
minutes,
he
realized
that
it
was
too
late.
He
was
already
wide
awake.
He
headed
down
to
the
kitchen
and
then
sat
at
the
table,
watching
his
father
fry
the
eggs
over
in
the
pan
and
his
mother
pour
juice
and
coffee.
It
was
relaxing,
thought
Freddie.
After
breakfast
his
mother
suggested
he
go
out
and
build
a
snowman.
Freddie
wasn’t
too
sure.
He
didn’t
really
like
the
cold
and
the
snow.
He’d
rather
stay
inside
and
play.
“You
can
play
afterwards,
but
how
about
going
outside
for
a
little
bit?
It’s
good
to
get
some
fresh
air,
and
who
knows,
you
might
even
enjoy
yourself.”
Freddie
unwillingly
put
on
the
warm
clothes
and
headed
outside.
Standing
alone
in
the
front
yard,
with
the
cold
wind
blowing,
was
not
Freddie’s
idea
of
a
good
time.
Knowing
his
mum
meant
what
she
said,
the
boy
sighed,
thinking
the
quicker
he
completed
his
snowman,
the
faster
he
could
go
back
inside
to
his
video
games.
He
set
to
work
packing
up
some
snow
into
a
large
ball.
Moments
later,
he
saw
one
of
his
friends
appearing
from
his
house
up
the
street.
Dion
waddled(蹒跚)
out
in
his
big
snow
trousers
and
heavy
overcoat.
He
waved
to
Freddie.
“Hey
there!
I
saw
you
out
here
and
thought
you
might
want
company.
Snow
days
are
awesome!”
Dion
laughed.

参考答案
第一部分
第一节
A
【文章大意】
本文是一篇应用文,介绍了三种听节日音乐的高科技工具。
1.A 细节理解题。根据Apple
Music部分中的“This
is
the
first
year
that
you
can
use
Apple
Music
to
listen
to
holiday
songs.”可知,这是你可以用苹果音乐听节日歌曲的第一年。由此可知,苹果音乐是一种听节日音乐的新工具,故选A。
2.B 细节理解题。根据Google
Play
Music部分中的“Google
Play
Music
is
available
for
free…”可知,谷歌音乐播放器的特殊之处在于它一直都是免费的,故选B。
3.C 细节理解题。根据TuneIn
Radio部分中的“This
is
an
online
service
and
offers
stations
from
all
seven
continents
in
the
world,
including
Antarctica.”可知,TuneIn
Radio是一个在线收听服务,提供来自世界七大洲(包括南极洲)的电台,故选C。
B
【文章大意】
本文是一篇夹叙夹议文。文章讲述了作者在中国做英语老师的一段经历以及他的感想和领悟。
4.A 推理判断题。
根据第二段“A
friend
of
mine
posted
a
Facebook
status
asking
if
anybody
was
interested
in
a
job
teaching
English
in
China.
So
I
jumped
on
a
coming
plane.”可知,“我”的一个朋友在Facebook上发布了一个动态,询问是否有人对在中国教英语的工作感兴趣。
“我”(得知后)立马登上了飞机前往中国。再结合第一段中“…I
have
been
making
movements
with
the
universe…”可知,他在来中国之前是没有稳定工作的。故选A。
5.A 推理判断题。根据第二段中“Walking
into
my
first
class,
I
was
bombed
by
16
strange
children
who
couldn’t
understand
a
single
word
out
of
my
mouth.”可知,上第一堂课时作者发现孩子们无法理解他说出的每一个词,由此可知他面对的处境很艰难。故选A。
6.D 推理判断题。根据文中第三段“I
became
a
father
to
some,
an
older
brother
to
others.”以及“But
in
between
the
discipline,
I
had
to
make
learning
a
fun
experience.”可知,作者是一个很体贴,会自我反思的老师。故选D。
7.B 词义猜测题。根据画线单词所在句子“I
want
my
teachings
to
be
reciprocal
because
they
taught
me
how
to
unconditionally
open
my
heart
and
how
to
be
a
more
loving
and
patient
person.”可知,“我”希望“我”的教导是相互的,因为它们教会了“我”如何无条件地打开“我”的心扉,如何成为一个更加充满爱和有耐心的人。由此可见,从教的这一段经历教会了作者很多,因此作者希望自己的教学工作既帮助了自己也帮助了孩子们,也就是教学相长,画线单词与B项interacted意思上最相近。故选B。
C
【文章大意】
本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了Will走进小学课堂,为孩子们讲授能源可持续发展。
8.A 细节理解题。根据第一段中“They
became
the
world’s
first
kids
to
be
‘taught’
by
a
digital
teacher.”可知,他们成为世界上第一批由智能机器人老师“教”的孩子。由此可知,对于奥克兰的这些小学生们来说,新学期的特殊之处是机器人老师教他们。故选A。
9.D 细节理解题。根据第三段中“This
two-way
interaction
not
only
helps
attract
the
students’
attention,
but
also
allows
the
program’s
developers
to
monitor
their
engagement,
and
make
changes
if
needed.”可知,这种双向互动不仅有助于吸引学生的注意力,还可以让程序的开发人员监视学生们的参与度,并在需要时做出更改,由此可得出,其优势在于,必要时可以做出变化。故选D。
10.D 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“However,
regardless
of
how
popular
it
becomes,
Will
is
unlikely
to
replace
human
educators
any
time
soon.”可知,Ravishankar认为它不会在短期内代替人类教育工作者。故选D。
11.B 主旨大意题。通读文章可知,从新学年开始,新西兰奥克兰的一些小学生将成为世界上第一批被机器人老师教的孩子。之后文章就此展开,由此可推断出“The
world’s
first
digital
teacher
appears
in
classrooms”作为本文的标题最合适。故选B。
D
【文章大意】
本文为一篇说明文。本文讲述了即将到来的5G时代给人们的生活带来的影响。
12.D 推理判断题。根据第一段“Have
you
ever
experienced
such
an
annoying
thing
as
it
took
so
long
to
open
a
web
page?
You’re
watching
stops
every
few
minutes…”可知,第一段使用打开网页时间长且卡顿的例子来吸引读者并引出主题。故选D。
13.C 推理判断题。根据第四段可知,5G使无人驾驶汽车更安全;使医生更精准地获取病人的病情;使VR游戏玩起来更逼真。所有这些都得益于5G传输速度的极大提高。由此可推知,5G将使许多先进技术得到进一步优化。故选C。
14.D 细节理解题。根据最后一段“And
in
order
to
use
5G,
we
will
have
to
buy
new
products
specially
designed
for
5G
that
are
currently
expensive.”可知,为了使用5G,我们需要购买目前价格昂贵并与之配套的新产品。由此可知,早期使用5G的成本要高于4G。故选D。
15.D 主旨大意题。通读全文可知,文章从一个现象引出对5G的讨论,介绍了5G的优势和早期存在的缺陷,并讲述了5G将给人们生活带来的影响。故D项“5G对我们生活的影响”符合文章主要内容。故选D。
第二节
【文章大意】
本文是一篇说明文,介绍了丝绸之路的发展历史和意义。丝绸之路不仅促进了物资贸易,还传播了知识和观念,同时也为“一带一路”倡议提供了一个合作、均衡发展的平台。
16.E 前一句提到丝绸之路以中国生产的丝绸命名。空格后提到通过这些路线,中国的丝绸、瓷器、漆器和铁器被运往西方,而辣椒、亚麻、香料、葡萄和石榴进入中国。由此可知,此段说的是丝绸之路上物资的贸易。silk是原词复现。选项E(然而,丝绸只是在这些路线上交易的许多商品之一)符合题意。故选E。
17.B 后一句中的as
well
表示与上文之间是递进关系。选项B意为:(人们去往)古代丝绸之路不仅是为了贸易。B项中的not
only与as
well相关联,且文中They指代B项中的the
ancient
silk
routes。故选B。
18.A 空后以Buddhism(佛教)、Confucianism(儒家思想)为例说明丝绸之路带给了人们观念上的交流。选项A(更重要的是,还交流了思想)引出了下一句的话题。故选A。
19.C 前一句提到资本、技术和人员自由流动(flowed
freely),这和选项C中were
widely
shared
意思相关联。故选C。
20.D 空前一句意为:然而今天,这些地方往往与冲突、危机和挑战联系在一起。选项D中such
state
of
affairs
指代上一句中陈述的状况。选项D意为:这种状况不应被允许继续下去。故选D。
第二部分
第一节

本文是一篇记叙文。作者讲述了自己对在后院安家的乌鸦的态度从讨厌到怜爱的转变过程,也告诉我们对待小动物要一视同仁。
21.D “我”本打算在阳光下度过周末,在户外赏花。但那是在那对令人讨厌的乌鸦到来之前。根据后面的语境可知,作者在乌鸦来之前(before)心情极好,想要舒适地度过周末。

were
getting
louder
and
probably…my
neighbours
nearly
as
much
as
us
with
the
noise.
I
admit
I
got
a
little…”可知,乌鸦的叫声很大,穿越街区,travel
through意为“穿越,穿过”。
25.D “我”想它们很快就会安静下来。根据下文“But,
no.
They
were
getting
louder…(它们的声音越来越大)”可知,“我”认为它们会安静下来(quiet
down),但它们不仅没有,反而声音越来越大。
26.B 根据本段“…on
Friday
morning.
It
was
early,
and
the
sound
the
birds
made…through
our
neighbourhood.”可知,在周五的早上很早的时候,乌鸦很吵的叫声回荡在街区中,这会让人恼火(annoying)。
27.D 根据上文的语境可知,在早上听到乌鸦那么大的叫声,作者很是恼火,却又无可奈何,有点绝望(desperate)。excited激动的;amazed惊讶的;curious好奇的。
28.C 根据前一句“…I
saw
our
dog
Quatchi
staring
at
something
on
the
ground.”可知,作者看到他们的狗Quatchi盯着地上的东西,出于好奇,作者也去一探究竟,explore符合题意。prevent阻止;defend防御;assist协助。
29.C 根据下文可知,只有当狗用鼻子触碰它的头时,它才走开,由此可知,在狗走近它时,它是一动不动的(still)。cold冷漠的;enthusiastic热情的;friendly友好的。
30.A 根据常识及语境可知,此处是指狗用鼻子触碰(touch)到它的头时,它才走开。throw扔掉;point指向;connect连接。
31.B 上文提到狗用鼻子触碰了小乌鸦,所以作者担心小乌鸦的处境,怕狗伤害它而把狗锁(lock)起来。award授予;praise表扬;feed喂食。
32.A “我”从未想到小乌鸦会在父母的保护下在地面上玩耍,成长并壮大,也就是获得力量(strength)。pity怜悯;advantage优势;freedom自由。
33.D 乌鸦来到作者的后院安了家,吵到了他们,作者非常生气。但看到这只小乌鸦,作者就宽恕(forgive)了它们。hate憎恨;respect尊敬;admire钦佩。
34.B 根据上句可知,作者从来都不怎么喜欢鸟,并且他希望它们选择另一个后院。但根据but可知,作者虽然不怎么喜欢鸟,却因为小乌鸦的可爱,而感激(grateful)大自然能让其近距离观察它。pitiful可怜的;painful痛苦的;careful仔细的。
35.C 根据语境可知,此处是指看见小乌鸦的经历让作者增强(strengthen)了建立一个美丽后花园的愿望。discourage阻止;ensure确保;prove证明。

Dear

I’m
glad
to
receive
your

I’d

my

about
the
life
in
the

As
far
as
I’m
concerned,
in
the
future,
man’s
life
will
be
very
different
from
what
it
is
today.
Firstly,
with
the
development
of
medicine,
on
average,
a
person
will
live
to
the
age
of
about
120.
Secondly,
because
of
the
discovery
of
new
energy,
the
environmental
pollution
will
be
under
control.
Thirdly,
people’s
daily
life
will
change
greatly,
too.
For
example,
robots
will
do
all
housework
for
you;your
chair
will
change
its
colour
to
match
what
you
are
wearing;you
can
even
take
a

for
your

where
there
will

no
traffic
accidents

pollution
at
all.
Life

What
a
