地球总是自西向东自转，东边总比西边先看到太阳，东边的时间也总比西边的早。东边时刻与西边时刻的差值不仅要以时计，而且还要以分和秒来计算，这给人们的日常生活和工作都带来许多不便。
为了克服时间上的混乱，1884年在华盛顿召开的一次国际经度会议上，规定将全球划分为24个时区。它们是中时区（零时区）、东1-12区，西1-12区。每个时区横跨经度15度，时间正好是1小时。最后的东、西第12区各跨经度7.5度，以东、西经180度为界。每个时区的中央经线上的时间就是这个时区内统一采用的时间，称为区时。相邻两个时区的时间相差1小时。例如，我国东8区的时间总比泰国东7区的时间早1小时，而比日本东9区的时间晚1小时。因此，出国旅行的人，必须随时调整自己的手表，才能和当地时间相一致。凡向西走，每过一个时区，就要把表拨慢1小时；凡向东走，每过一个时区，就要把表拨快1小时。

Is Zhu Hui also watching the races and eating zongzi? Well, it’s 9:00 p.m. in New York, and it’s the night before the festival. But there isn’t a Dragon Boat Festival in the US, so it’s like any other night for Zhu Hui and his host family. The mother is reading a story to her young children. The father is watching a soccer game on TV. And what’s Zhu Hui doing? He’s talking on the phone to his cousin in Shenzhen. Zhu Hui misses his family and wishes to have his mom’s delicious zongzi . Zhu Hui likes New York and his host family a lot, but there’s still “ no place like home”.

e.g. I wish you success. 我祝你成功。

wish n. 可数名词：1. 希望；愿望 2. (wishes) 祝愿
Language points
相同点：
二者都可跟“to +动词原型”做宾语，不可跟动词的ing形式。
I hope (wish) to visit Guilin .
不同点：
（1）wish +宾+ to +动词原形，表示命令，hope无此用法 。
（2）wish可跟双宾语,hope则不能。

（3）hope和wish可跟that从句，但hope + that表示希望；wish + that表示“愿望”，且从句动词用虚拟语气

（4）hope和wish后都不能直接跟名词作宾语，hope for +名词，表示可实现的“希望”，wish for +名词，但表示难实现的“愿望”。
