Different
Types
of
Volunteering
Activities
Traditional
Volunteering
I
couldn’t
think
of
a
better
name.
This
is
what
volunteering
has
been
since
age-old.
You
go
to
a
local
NGO(Non-Governmental
Organization)and
work
on
one
of
their
projects.
These
projects
can
be
as
short
as
a
few
hours
or
as
long
as
one
year
or
longer.
You
may
wish
to
spend
your
birthday
at
the
local
orphanage
and
that
would
be
a
one-day
volunteering.
But
you
may
choose
to
teach
them
and
thus
visiting
them
regularly;
making
it
a
long-term
association.
Internship/
Gap
Year
Volunteering
More
and
more
students
are
turning
to
volunteering
with
NGOs
as
their
preferred
internship
and
gap-year
option.
Working
in
the
development
sector
provides
valuable
career
experience
and
skills
useful
in
placements(就业).
Since
in
this
case
you
will
be
working
closely
day-in
and
day-out
with
the
NGO,
it
is
important
you
research
well
before
joining
them.
And
more
so
if
it’s
in
a
foreign
country.
Voluntourism
Volun-Tourism
or
volunteer
travel
is
a
great
way
of
combining
tourism
and
volunteering.
It
provides
the
unique
opportunity
to
see
a
place
as
an
insider;
live
with
locals
and
get
access
to
many
behind-the-scene
activities
in
an
area.
Before
you
plan
a
trip,
search
for
NGOs
and
connect
with
them
to
explore
how
you
can
help
in
the
amount
of
time
that
you
have.
You
should
also
connect
with
other
travelers
on
various
forums
such
as
Lonely
Planet
or
Tripadvisor.
Online
Volunteering
The
world-wide-web
has

respects!
Online
volunteering
makes
it
possible
to
volunteer
for
different
organizations
in
different
countries
from
your
home/
office
and
at
your
convenience.
Projects
may
involve
helping
with
social

designing
some
material,
guiding
youth,
proof-reading
articles,
translations
etc.

Voluntourism是一种把旅游和做志愿活动结合起来的方式。故选C。
B
Seasickness
and
sunburn.
Taking
care
of
old
people
in
different
situations.
My
medical
friends
did
their
best
to
persuade
me.
Everyone
said
that
running
away
to
sea
would
ruin
my
career.
But
after
five
sleep-deprived
(睡眠不足的)
years
working
as
a
junior
doctor,
I
was
willing
to
take
the
risk.
Hungry
for
adventure,
I
boarded
a
bright
white
ship
in
Singapore.
With
2,
000
passengers
and
crew,
it
was
the
size
of
a
small
town.
To
my
relief,
the
hospital
was
well
equipped,
with
an
X-ray
machine
and
a
blood
analyzer.
That
first
cruise
(航行)
was
a
learning
experience,
a
tight
schedule
full
of
safety
drills
(演习).
There
was
so
much
new
information
to
take
in.
Even
remembering
which
of
the
uniforms
to
wear
each
day
was
a
challenge.
Most
confusing,
I
often
forgot
to
change
my
clock
when
the
ship
crossed
time
zones.
As
a
doctor,
I
was
responsible
for
the
600
crew
including
waiters,
engineers,
cooks
and
navigators
(领航员),
and
I
was
on
call
(随时待命的)
for
the
entire
ship.
Far
from
treating
seasickness
and
sunburn,
as
I’d
been
warned,
my
patients
were
wide
and
varied.
The
ship’s
medical
center
was
essentially
a
floating
emergency
room,
but
we
didn’t
have
a
team
of
specialists
on
hand
for
a
second
opinion.
With
long
and
unpredictable
hours,
it
required
mental
toughness.
As
you
can
guess,
many
of
the
passengers
were
elderly.
Heart
attacks
don’t
care
about
geography
and
emergency
evacuations
(疏散)
were
difficult
to
arrange.
I
recall
one
such
patient,
who
was
taken
off
the
ship
on
a
stretcher
(担架)
halfway
through
the
Panama
Canal.
After
a
terrifying
ride
in
the
back
of
an
old
ambulance,
I
was
relieved
that
the
patient
survived
long
enough
to
arrive
at
the
hospital
in
Panama
City.
Thankfully,
there
were
several
unexpected
benefits
to
the
job.
I
regularly
enjoyed
the
passenger
facilities,
including
the
gym,
spa
and
deck
buffet
(甲板自助餐).
I
even
hosted
my
own
table
of
passengers
in
the
evenings.
On
rare
days
off,
I
volunteered
as
a
tour
guide
on
trips
ashore
(在陆地).
I
got
to
fly
over
Alaska

The
term
“gig
economy(零工经济)”
has
been
out
there
for
a
while,
but
what
does
it
mean
for
the
people
involved?
On
the
consumer
side,
we
think
of
it
as
shopping
with
smart
devices
and
social
media.
On
the
job
side,
it
is
working
as
a
freelance
contractor(working
independently
for
different
companies
rather
than
being
employed
by
one
particular
company).
Like
anything
else,
there
are
pros
and
cons
to
consider
before
joining
the
gig
economy.
Happy
“giggers”
appreciate
the
independence
and
flexibility
that
it
can
offer.
It
can
give
them
more
control
over
their
lives,
for
example,
and
they
can
often
work
from
home.
The
downsides
include
the
lack
of
benefits
such
as
sick
leave,
vacation
pay
and
health
insurance,
reduced
job
security,
and
potentially
higher
taxes.
Unsurprisingly,
employers
like
gig
workers!
Not
paying
benefits
can
save
them
almost
40
percent
on
staff
costs.
But
if
you’re
seeking
gig
work,
you
don’t
have
to
sell
yourself
cheap.
Joe

This

an
American
phenomenon.
In

the

that,
“The

Part-time
self-employment
grew
88
percent
from
2001
to
2015,
but
just
25
percent
for
full-time
workers.

Gig
workers
must
find
out
work
opportunities
themselves.
In
addition
to
the
skills
that
a
worker
applies
on
the
job,
a
gigger
needs
to
create
a
strong
online
personal
brand,
know
how
to
navigate
gig
platforms,
and

both
in

through

A
gigger

take
several
gigs
if
time
doesn’t
conflict,
which
can
ensure
him

her
a
respectable
income.

Brian
Hamilton’s
life
changed
in
a
prison.
He
wasn’t
imprisoned;
he
was
accompanying
his
friend
Robert,
who
frequented
local
prisons
to
do
ministry
work.
During
the
visit,
Hamilton
started
talking
to
one
of
the
prisoners
and
asked
what
he
was
going
to
do
when
he
got
out.
“He
said
he
was
going
to
get
a
job,

Hamilton
recalls.
“I
thought
to
myself,
wow,
that’s
going
to
be
difficult
with
a
criminal
background.

The
conversation
made
Hamilton
consider
how
to
help
those
who
came
out
from
prison.
Finally
in
2008,
16
years
after
that
initial
conversation,
Hamilton
created
a
nonprofit
organization
that
helps
people
with
criminal
backgrounds
start
their
own
small
businesses.
At
the
time,
Hamilton
was
building
his
own
company,
a
software
technology
company
for
the
banking
industry.
As
his
company
grew,
so
did
Hamilton’s
time
devoted
to
giving
lessons
to
prisoners.
He
averaged
three
to
four
courses
a
month
at
prisons
throughout
North
Carolina.
Eventually,
Hamilton
decided
to
shift
his
focus
to
his
true
passion.
In
May
2018,
he
sold
his
company
and
focused
on
helping
those
who
were
imprisoned.
His
online
courses
will
be
set
in
motion
next
year.
“By
March
1,
2019,
anyone
will
be
able
to
access
the
courses,
either
to
become
a
certified
instructor
or
to
access
it
for
themselves
as
an
imprisoner,

Hamilton
explains.
In
addition,
he
visits
middle
schools
and
presents
the
courses
to
at-risk
students
as
a
preventative
measure
against
incarceration.
The
free
curriculum
is
funded
by
the
recently
established
Brian
Hamilton
Foundation,
which
also
offers
assistance
to
military
members
as
they
return
to
civilian
life
and
provides
loans
to
small
businesses.
“Starting
up
a
business
isn’t
for
everyone,
but
if
we
make
opportunities
available,
and
let
people
know
that
other
people
care
about
them,
it
makes
a
difference.

Hamilton
said.

Parties

the
same

 36
At

more
people
are
on
their
smartphones
than
on
their
drinks.
According
to
a
recent
International
Data

study,
well
over
half
of
all
Americans
have
a

and
reach
for
it

they

In

too
much
of

Thirty-four
percent

texting
while

 37 People’s
attachment
to
their
smartphones
is
unbelievably
becoming
more
important
than
the
lives
of
themselves
and
others.
Just
as
drivers
dismiss
the
importance
of
focusing
while
on
the

many
people
also
fail
to
recognize
the
significance
of
human
interaction.
We
are

people
seemingly
talking

everywhere.
 38
It
is
actually
sending
a
message
to
that
friend:
the
person
I
am
texting
is
more
important
than
you.
In
addition,
relying
on
our
smartphones
to
make
friends
does
not
give
us
the
same
advantage
as
being
able
to
make
new
friendships
in
the
real
world.
 39 ?
As
many
people
risk
their
lives
and
the
lives
of
people
around
them
just
to
send
a
text
or
mindlessly
check
their
messages,
smartphones
are
in
many
ways
more
dangerous
to
people.
This
technology
is
seriously
preventing
social
achievements
and
weakening
the
value
of
communication.
 40 ?
A.
It
is
true
that
we
can
make
new
friends
using
smartphones.
B.
This
is
not
due
to
a
lack
of
desire
to
socialize,
but
the
smartphone.
C.
Over
dependence
on
the
smartphone
gives
rise
to
many
problems.
D.
And
they
confirm
that
text
messaging
is
their
number
one
driving
interruption.
E.
Face-to-face
conversations
will
give
us
much
stronger
communication
skills
in
the
long
run.
F.
When
with
their
friends,
some
people
pointlessly
check
or
send
text
messages
in
the
presence
of
a
friend.
G.
Not
only
is
the
smartphone
affecting
our
desire
to
interact
face
to
face
but
it
is
also
lowering
society’s
ability
to
communicate.

选项中的this就是前文所描述的现象,
social和socialize是关键词,
故选B。
37.

一些人当着朋友的面查看或者发送短信)承接自然,
故选F。
39.
【解析】选E。根据上文可知此外,
用我们的智能手机交朋友并不能给我们带来和结交真实世界新朋友一样的优势,
与E(从长远来看,
面对面的交谈会让我们拥有更强的沟通能力)承接自然,
上下文把用智能手机交朋友和面对面交朋友进行了对比,
real
world和face-to-face是关键词,
故选E。
40.
【解析】选G。根据上文可知,
这项技术严重阻碍了社会的进步,
削弱了交流的价值,
与G(智能手机不仅影响了我们面对面交流的愿望,
也降低了社会沟通能力)承接自然,
上下文结合在一起可以总结本文,
故选G。

Upon

another
episode
of
Gilmore

It
was
what
I
had
to
 47
in
my
day,
because
I
was
having
a
tough
day
and
I
simply
loved
to
laugh
at
their
humorous
dialogues.
Each
of
the
characters
had
a

The
more
I
watched
Gilmore

I
found
myself
wanting
to
be
a
“Rory

Much
of
Rory’s
success
came
from
her
mother.
In
the
process
of
 49
Harvard
or
any
college,
I
have
recently
discovered
it
is
a
long
process.
My
mother
has
also
encouraged
me
to
follow
my
dreams
and
to
make
my
own
 50 .
I
am
a
particularly
hesitant
person,
so
 51
this
task
is
not
easy
for
me.
In
 52
and
developing
into
her
own
person,
Rory
Gilmore
discovered
her
dreams
and
how
to
achieve
them;
that
was
how
she
 53
me.
?
Although
I
am
a
girl
who
is
still
trying
to
find
my
true
self,
Rory
made
me
feel
as
if
I
could
 54
everything.
No
matter
which
college
I
may
 55 ,
I’ll
always
know
that
the
road,
which
I

to
get
there,
is
a
road
well
worth
traveling.

第二节(满分25分)
  阅读下面材料,
根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,
使之构成一篇完整的短文。
One
spring
morning
many
years
ago,
I
had
been
prospecting
for
gold
along
Coho
Creek.
As
I
emerged
from
a
forest,
I
froze
in
my
tracks.
No
more
than
20
paces
away
in
the
bog(泥塘)was
a
huge
Alaskan
timber
wolf-caught
in
one
of
Trapper
George’s
traps.
Old
George
had
died
the
previous
week
of
a
heart
attack,
so
the
wolf
was
lucky.
Confused
and
frightened
at
my
approach,
the
wolf
backed
away,
pulling
hard
on
the
trap
chain.
Then
I
noticed
something
else:
It
was
a
female,
and
her
teats(奶头)were
full
of
milk.
Somewhere
there
was
a
den(窝)of
hungry
pups
waiting
for
their
mother.
From
her
appearance,
I
guessed
that
she
had
been
trapped
only
a
few
days.
That
meant
her
pups
were
probably
still
alive.
But
I
suspected
that
if
I
tried
to
release
the
wolf,
she
would
turn
aggressive
and
try
to
tear
me
to
pieces.
So
I
decided
to
search
for
her
pups
instead
and
began
to
look
for
incoming
tracks
that
might
lead
me
to
her
den.
Fortunately,
there
were
still
a
few
remaining
patches
of
snow.
The
tracks
led
a
half
mile
through
the
forest,
and
I
finally
spotted
the
den.
There
wasn’t
a
sound
inside.
Wolf
pups
are
shy
and
cautious,
and
I
didn’t
have
much
hope
of
tricking
them
outside.
But
I
had
to
try.
So
I
began
copying
the
squeak(吱吱声)of
a
mother
wolf
calling
her
young.
No
response.
A
few
moments
later,
after
I
tried
again,
four
tiny
pups
appeared.
I
extended
my
hands,
and
they
tentatively(试探性地)suckled
at
my
fingers.
Perhaps
hunger
had
helped
overcome
their
natural
fear.
Then,
one
by
one,
I
placed
them
in
a
bag
and
headed
back.
When
the
mother
wolf
spotted
me,
she
stood
straight.
Possibly
picking
up
the
scent(气味)of
her
young,
she
let
out
a
sorrow-stricken
crying.
I
released
the
pups,
and
they
raced
to
her.
Within
seconds,
they
were
slurping(啜食)at
her
belly.

What
next?
I
wondered.
So
tender
were
the
pups
that
it
was
impossible
for
them
to
resist
danger
without
mother’s
protection.
Hence,
I
made
up
my
mind
to
release
her.
But
how?
A
good
idea
occurred
to
me.
I
went
back
to
my
truck
and
fetched
an
iron
bar.
Using
a
rock
as
the
supporting
point,
I
unlocked
the
chain
and
set
the
wolf
free.
Realizing
my
rescue,
the
wolf
kept
still
to
cooperate.
After
gaining
freedom,
she
howled
at
me
with
her
head
low,
showing
her
gratitude.
Then,
the
mother
wolf
led
her
pups
to
go
forward,
disappearing
in
the
forest.
Four
years
later,
I
returned
to
Coho
Creek.
The
previous
gold
searching
spot
had
been
transformed
into
a
natural
wildlife
reserve.
As
I
paced,
the
sound
of
my
footsteps
was
accompanied
only
by
the
gracefully
waving
leaves.
All
of
a
sudden,
a
beautiful
mid-sized
pool
came
into
my
sight,
with
a
group
of
wolves
scattered
around,
licking
water
or
lying
on
the
grass
leisurely.
Noticing
my
approaching,
the
wolves
gathered.
I
was
seized
by
a
strong
sense
of
horror,
my
palms
sweating.
Meanwhile,
a
leading
wolf
came
forwards,
howling
at
me
with
her
head
low.
The
memory
crossed
my
mind.
It
was
the
wolf
that
I
saved
years
ago.
Before
long,
she
turned
back,
leading
her
offspring
to
the
forest.
How
amazing
to
see
them
again!

I
always
had
the

I
should
when
I
was
young.
At
times,
I
wanted

that
I
could

At
other
times,
my
purpose
was
to

my

Sometimes
this
led
to
stress

frustration.
When
I

I
took

the

happily,

this

However,
the

demands
proved
to

more

I

And
the
company
chose

the
customer
and
tried
to
meet
his
unreasonable
requirements
rather
than
stick
to
what
we
had
originally
offered
in
the
contract.
As
you
can
imagine,
this
led
to
a
lot
of
unexpected
problems
and
arguing
with
some
of
the
staff
who
refused
to
do
anything
outside
their
scope
(范围)
of
work.
I
remember
walking

morning,
opening
my
laptop
and
staring
at
the
blank
screen
for
long,
thinking
to
myself:
What
should
I
do?
That
was
a
difficult
time
in
my
life
and
then
I
finally
had
to
give
up
my
first
job
and
left
that
company
sadly.
Perhaps,
I
thought
then,
I
could
find
the
job
that
didn’t
involve
dealing
with
difficult
people
and
difficult
situations.
But
later
I
realized:
Is
this
possible
in
our
modern
world?
No,
it
is
impossible.
Now,
I
know,
I
shouldn’t
run
away
from
the
challenges
I
faced
in
life:
I
had
to
learn
how
to
deal
with
them.
I
regret
not
persevering
(坚

)
in
my
job.
We
should
train
ourselves
to
look
at
things
from
a
positive
point
of
view,
because
that
is
far
better
than
being
trapped
in
the
bad
circle
depression.
I’ve
come
to
see
that
when
faced
with
difficulties,
I
should
not
give
up,
but
persevere.
【文章大意】这是一篇夹叙夹议文。文章讲述了作者一直是个好强的人,
却在大学毕业后从事第一份工作时,
遇到了挫折。最终,
丢掉了工作,
失意地离开。从这段经历中,
他悟出了面对困难时,
要坚持下去,
不能放弃。

Why
did
the
author
take
the
work
assigned
to
him
happily?
A.
He
wanted
to
please
the
boss.
B.
The
work
was
very
easy
for
him
to
do.
C.
He
failed
to
find
a
job
many
times
before.
D.
He
thought
it
was
time
to
prove
his
ability.
【解析】选D。细节理解题。根据第二段第二句“I
took
on
the
assignment
happily,
thinking
that
this
might
be
my
time
to
shine.
”可知,
第一段中作者就自述了是个好强的人,
之所以欣然接受委派,
就是觉得到自己大显身手、证明能力的时候了,
与D选项描述相符。故选D。
6.
What
does
the
underlined
word
“this”
in
the
second
paragraph
mean?
A.
Arguing
with
some
of
the
staff.
B.
Meeting
the
customer’s
unreasonable
requirements.
C.
Accepting
the
assignment
without
hesitation.
D.
Sticking
to
what
had
been
originally
offered
in
the
contract.
【解析】选B。词义猜测题。根据第二段可知,
公司选择站在客户一边,
努力满足客户不合理的要求,
而不是坚持我们在合同中最初的报价。由此推断,
画线词所在句表示“此举”导致了一系列问题的出现,
而问题的根源就是前句中指出的公司的错误决策——罔顾合同承诺,
而一味迎合客户的不合理要求,
所以第二段中画线的“this”指满足客户不合理的要求。故选B。
7.
What
made
the
author
leave
his
first
job?
A.
The
depressing
job
situation.
B.
The
low
payment.
C.
His
lack
of
ability.
D.
A
better
job
waiting
for
him.
【解析】选A。推理判断题。根据第二段最后一句可知,
那是我人生中最困难的一段时间,
最后我不得不放弃我的第一份工作,
遗憾地离开了那家公司。根据第三段第一句可知,
那时我想,
也许我能找到一份不需要和难相处的人打交道、不需要面对困难情况的工作。由此可推知,
就是因为在第一份工作中常常落入让人犯难的处境和情形中,
不得不对付一些难办的事务,
才使得作者放弃了工作,
A选项“令人沮丧的工作处境”符合文意。故选A。
8.
What’s
the
best
title
of
the
text?
A.
Running
away
from
challenges.
B.
Persevering
instead
of
giving
up.
C.
Refusing
to
argue
with
customers.
D.
Learning
to
take
on
more
than
one
can.
【解析】选B。主旨大意题。根据文章最后一句我明白了,
面对困难时,
不应该放弃,
而应该坚持下去。并结合全文内容可知,
本文就是作者通过分享自己的第一份工作经历,
想要表达“面对困难时,
应该坚持,
而非放弃”这一主题,
故选B。

【文章大意】这是一篇说明文。远程办公,
也称为在家工作,
或电子通勤,
是一种工作安排,
员工在办公室外工作,
经常在家或离家近的地方工作。文章说明了一些不能够通过远程办公进行的职业以及远程办公的优势。
1.
【解析】选G。根据后文可知医生、牙医和世界上无数的医疗工作者总是需要亲自与病人打交道。由此可知,
并不是所有的工作都适合远程工作。故选G。
2.
【解析】选F。根据下文
Scientists
need
to
be
in
labs.
可知科学家们需要待在实验室里。由此可知,
此处在列举必须在工作场所进行工作的职业,
故F选项“建筑工人需要在建筑工地工作”符合上下文语境,
故选F。
3.
【解析】选D。根据后文可知有时你可能很容易被洗衣机等家用电器分散注意力,
或者你实际上需要老板的监督才能专心工作。由此可知,
上文中提到的“在家办公可以让你更有效率”并不一定是真的。故选D。
4.
【解析】选C。根据后文可知远程通勤者也可能对工作更满意,
因此更有可能留在公司。远程办公甚至可以节省公司的办公费用(如租金和办公用具)。由此可知,
此处是在说明远程工作对于公司的好处。故选C。
5.
【解析】选A。根据后文可知有些人还觉得在家工作有点孤立,
因为你不在同事身边。那些喜欢团队合作的人可能会因为单独的电话会议而失去与同事建立联系的机会。由此可知,
本段是在说明对于那些喜欢团队合作的人来说,
可能会感觉远程工作会让他们失去与同事建立联系的机会,
从而可能会导致员工感觉孤立的心理健康问题。故选A。(共66张PPT)

二、句子的三种基本类型
如果按照句子的结构分类,
英文句子可分为三个类别:
简单句(Simple
Sentence)、并列句(Compound
Sentence)和复合句(Complex
Sentence)。这里所说的结构,
主要是指句子中主语和谓语之间所构成的关系。
1.
简单句(Simple
Sentence)
简单句只有一个主谓结构。句子可能有两个或更多的主语,
也可能有两个或更多的谓语,
但是句子中的主谓关系只有一个。简单句还可以有定语、状语等句子成分。
The
people
in
the
meeting
room
remained
silent.
会议室里的人保持沉默。
Many
young
artists
are
advised
to
learn
by
copying
the
masters.
许多年轻艺术家们被建议通过临摹大师们的作品来学习。
2.
并列句(Compound
Sentence)
并列句有两个或两个以上存在并列、对等关系的主谓结构。从语法上讲,
这些主谓结构都能独立地表达意思,
没有从属关系。但是它们在意思或逻辑上有一定程度的内在联系,
使它们有必要构成并列句。在并列句中,
并列连词用来连接两个或几个主谓结构,
即连接平行对等(即互不从属)的分句。
Computers
are
used
widely
in
most
countries
now,
and
they
are
a
sign
of
progress.
现在计算机在大多数国家被广泛使用,
它们是进步的标志。
She
is
tall,
while
her
elder
sister
is
short.
她很高,
而她姐姐很矮。
3.
复合句(Complex
Sentence)
复合句由一个主句(Principal
Clause)和一个或一个以上的从句(Subordinate
Clause)
构成,
即有一个(或更多)主谓结构充当句子的某一(些)成分,
如主语、宾语、表语、定语、状语、同位语等。主语从句、宾语从句、表语从句、同位语从句、定语从句和状语从句都属于复合句,
主句是全句的主体,
通常可以独立存在,
从句则只用作句子的一个成分,
不能独立。
(1)主语从句
作句子主语的从句叫主语从句。主语从句通常由从属连词that,
whether,
if和连接代词what,
who,
which,
whatever,
whoever以及连接副词how,
when,
where,
why等词引导。that在句中无词义,
只起连接作用;
连接代词和连接副词在句中既保留自己的疑问含义、又起连接作用,
在从句中充当从句的成分。有时为避免句子头重脚轻,
常用形式主语it代替主语从句放于句首,
而把主语从句置于句末。
What
the
doctor
is
uncertain
about
is
whether
my
mother
will
recover
from
the
serious
disease
soon.
医生不能确定的是我母亲是否会很快从这个严重的疾病中康复。
It
is
recommended
that
the
project
not
be
started
until
all
the
preparations
have
been
made.
建议在所有准备工作完成后再开始这项工程。
(2)宾语从句
用作宾语的从句叫宾语从句。宾语从句的引导词与主语从句、表语从句大致一样,
在句中可以作谓语动词或介词及非谓语动词的宾语。
that引导宾语从句时,
that在句中不担任任何成分,
在口语或非正式的文体中常被省去,
但如从句是并列句时,
最后一个分句前的that不可省。
在demand、order、suggest、decide、insist,
desire,
request,
command,
doubt等表示要求、命令、建议、决定等意义的动词后,
宾语从句常用“(should+)
动词原形”。
who,
whom,
which,
whose,
what,
when,
where,
why,
how,
whoever,
whatever,
whichever等引导的宾语从句相当于特殊疑问句,
但句子语序要用陈述语序。
(3)表语从句
在句中作表语的从句叫表语从句。表语从句的引导词与主语从句大致一样,
表语从句位于系动词后,
有时用as
if引导。其基本结构为:
主语
+
系动词
+从句(若用that引导从句时,
不能省略)。
(4)同位语从句
同位语从句说明其前面的名词的具体内容。后跟同位语从句的名词有advice、demand、doubt、fact、hope、idea、information、message、news、order、problem、promise、question、request、suggestion、truth、wish、word等。
同位语从句和定语从句的区别:
that引导定语从句,
充当句子成分,
在从句中作宾语时可以省略;
that引导同位语从句时,
没有实际意义,
不充当句子成分,
一般不能省略。
如:
I
had
no
idea
that
you
were
here.
(that引导同位语从句,
不能省略)我不知道你在这里。
Have
you
got
the
idea
(that)
this
book
gives
you
of
life
in
ancient
Greece?
(that引导定语从句,
作宾语,
可以省略)你明白这本书让你了解古希腊的生活了吗?
(5)定语从句
定语从句(Attributive
Clauses)在句中作定语,
修饰一个名词或代词,
被修饰的名词,
词组或代词即先行词。定语从句通常出现在先行词之后,
由关系词(关系代词或关系副词)引出。
(6)状语从句
状语从句
(Adverbial
Clause)
指起副词作用的句子。可以修饰谓语、非谓语动词、定语、状语或整个句子。根据其意义可分为时间、地点、原因、条件、目的、结果、让步、方式和比较等从句。状语从句一般由从属连词引导,
也可以由词组(如the
moment等)引起。从句位于句首或句中时通常用逗号与主句隔开,
位于句尾时可以不用逗号隔开。

Perhaps

are

Seventy-six

But
the

Although
most

many
