【3题详解】
细节理解题。根据第一段最后一句
“Whether

high
school,
there
are
fun,
educational,
and
even
some

B
The
smartphone
has
long
since
become
our
constant
companion.
While
gaming
used
to
be
limited
to
computers
and
consoles(操控台),
gaming
on
mobile
phones
has
become
very
popular
in
recent
years.
New
developments
in
the
area
of
smartphone
production
make
mobile
gaming
particularly
attractive.
Tablets
in
particular
have
a
sufficiently
large
display
to
allow
gaming
with
very
high
resolution(分辨率).
In
addition,
there
are
eight-core
processors
that
are
not
only
installed
in
current
flagships,
but
also
in
the
middle
class.
With
appropriate
graphics
card(显卡),
nothing
stands
in
the
way
of
mobile
gaming.
That
being
said,
it
is
much
more
convenient
to
play
games
on
the
smartphone
or
tablet.
One
advantage
that
mobile
games
have
is
their
low
price.
Many
games
are
offered
for
free
in
the
app
stores.
The
developers
generate
their
income
through
so-called
in-game
purchases.
The
users
can,
for
example,
activate
special
features
for
which
he
would
otherwise
have
to
wait
a
certain
time,
or
which
he
would
otherwise
not
be
able
to
access
at
all.
And
ever
if
the
mobile
games
cost
something,
gamers
pay
a
lot
less
than
when
playing
on
the
console.
While
there
were
more
card
games
or
hits
like
Snake
on
the
first
mobile
phones,
more
and
more
complex
games
can
be
found
in
app
stores
today.
This
includes
sports
games,
role-playing
games.
What
also
attract
gamers
to
smartphones
are
mobile
versions
of
well-known
games.
So
you
can
control
the
life
of
your
Sims
from
your
mobile
phones,
catch
Pokemon
on
your
smartphone
and
finally
get
your
Hogwarts
letter
that
you’ve
been
waiting
for
so
many
years.
That
attracts
customers.
You
can
also
find
a
lot
of
self-growth
and
many
other
brain
training
games
like
Sharp
Knife
Target,
Hexagong
Brain
Workout,
and
etc,
in
Play
Stores.

learn
from
the
passage?

appealing
and
popular.

Players
enjoy
playing
mobile
games
on
devices
with
high
resolution.
D.

can
not
find
any
complex

stores

C
The
Earth
is
losing
some
of
its
major
freshwater
supplies.
But
the
water
is
not
in
lakes
or
rivers.
They
are
called
“aquifers(含水层)”.
Some
aquifers
are
so
deep
that
water
from
very
heavy
rains
cannot
reach
them
through
all
the
rock
and
dirt.
Many
aquifers
provide
irrigation(灌溉)water
for
crops.
The
freshwater
is
helping
farmers
in
many
countries.
But
a
new
report
says
some
aquifers
are
being
emptied.
Irrigated
agriculture
is
responsible
for
about
80
percent
of
freshwater
use
worldwide.
A
growing
part
of
that
comes
from
underground
aquifers
because
of
dry
weather
or
farmers
growing
crops
in
areas
with
little
rainfall.
But
researchers
say
taking
water
from
aquifers
is
creating
a
large
problem.
Scientists
warn
that
there
is
not
much
that
can
be
done
to
repair
them.
It
is
difficult
to
measure
ground-water
and
to
know
how
much
water
is
there
and
where
it
is,
because
it
is
so
deep
underground.
The
water
from
these
aquifers
many
not
be
replaced
for
hundreds
of
years.
The
report
says
some
countries
use
the
most
non-renewable
groundwater
for
agricultural
production.
If
China
and
India
use
up
the
groundwater
they
need
to
feed
their
populations,
they
would
be
forced
to
buy
more
food.
This
increased
demand
could
cause
food
prices
to
rise.
The
study
shows
that,
while
countries
like
Somalia
are
dealing
with
little
rainfall,
the
world
may
someday
face
an
underground
drought.
It’s
a
global
issue.
We
don’t
have
any
great
solutions
or
strategies
to
deal
with
this.
So,
at
least,
we
need
to
have
discussions
to
come
up
with
new
ways,
new
strategies
that
recognize
this
problem
and
manage
how
we
might
adjust
our
policies.
Any
strategy
must
balance
the
short-term
need
for
food
with
the
long-term
survival
of
the
Earth’s
aquifers.
8.
Why
is
it
tough
to
recover
underground
water?
A.
More
water
is
drawn
than
it
is
added.
B.
Researchers
have
no
way
to
know
about
it.
C.
Underground
is
too
deep
for
rainwater
to
reach.
D.
There
are
more
areas
with
little
rainfall
around
the
world.
9.
What’s
the
final
result
of
the
disappearance
of
underground
water?
A
Food
will
become
more
expensive.
B.
More
people
in
the
world
will
be
fed
on.
C.
It
is
harder
to
discover
underground
water.
D.
There
will
be
less
rainfall
due
to
dry
weather.
10.
How
does
the
author
feel
when
stating
the
fact
in
the
text?
A.
Amazed
B.
Concerned
C.
Subjective
D.
Calm
11.
What
may
be
the
best
title
for
the
text?
A.
It’s
Time
to
Stop
Using
Underground
Water!
B.
To
Save
Underground
Water
Is
Everyone’s
Duty.
C.
The
Earth’s
Underground
Water
Is
Being
Emptied.
D.
Human
Is
the
Main
Reason
for
the
Lack
of
Underground
Water
【答案】8.

water
from
very
heavy
rains
cannot
reach
them
through

food.
This
increased
demand
could
cause
food
prices
to
rise.”(如果中国和印度耗尽了他们养活人口所需的地下水,他们将被迫购买更多的食物。这种需求的增加可能会导致食品价格上涨。)可知,地下水消失的后果是食物会变得很贵。选项A与文意一致,故选A项。

this.”(但世界可能有一天会面临地下干旱。这是一个全球性的问题。世界各国都面临着这一挑战。我们没有任何好的解决方案或策略来处理这个问题。)可推测,作者在文章中陈述现状时是担忧的。选项B符合题意,故选B项。
4.主旨大意题。根据第二段“a

report
says
some
aquifers
are
being
emptied.”(一份新的报告称,一些含水层正在被清空。)以及最后一段“Any

Jose
Adolfo
is
a
banker
from
Peru.
He
encourages
children
to
save
money
and
offers
his
customers
cash
for
recycling
plastic
wastes.
But
the
remarkable
thing
is
that
he
is
still
a
child
himself.
By
the
age
of
7,he
decided
to
create
a
bank
for
children.
He
was
motivated
by
seeing
his

lunch
because
they
had
spent
the
little
money
they
had
on
sweets
or
football
cards.
What
drove
him
even
more
was
the
poverty
he
saw
among
children.
With
the
support
of
a
local
company,
the
14-year-old
founded
the
Bartselana
student
bank
which
now
has
more
than
2,000
customers
between
the
ages
of
10

Children
can
withdraw(提取)
money
from
several
cashpoints
of
the
bank.

What

it

traditional

is

savings
goals

The

Students
can
bring
recyclable
plastic
bottles,
used
school
books
and
old
newspapers
to
the
schools
and
put
them
into
the
collecting
boxes.
The
recycling
is
weighed
and
the
money
goes
to
their
bank
accounts.
The
bank
recycles
4.4
tons
of
material
a
month
and
has
collecting
boxes
in
seven
schools
in
Arequipa.
More

the

also
helping

【解析】
【分析】这是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了秘鲁少年Jose
Adolfo创立了Bartselana学生银行,鼓励同学们通过回收利用的方式存钱。
【12题详解】
推理判断题。根据第二段中“He

seeing
his
classmates

the
little
money
they
had
on
sweets

cards.
What
drove
him
even
more
was
the
poverty
he
saw
among
children.”可知,看到同学们因为把仅有的一点钱花在糖果或足球卡上而不吃午饭,他感到很受刺激。更让他感到不安的是他所看到的孩子们的贫穷。由此可推知,Jose为孩子们创建一个银行是为了帮助贫穷的孩子。故选D项。
【13题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段中“What
makes
it
different
from
traditional
banks
is
that
it
sets
savings
goals
for

【14题详解】
短语猜测题。根据第五段内容“The

in
the
rest
of
Peru
and
abroad.”可知,该银行每月回收4.4吨材料,并在Arequipa的7所学校里收集了箱子。更多的人还在等待名单上。这种模式在秘鲁其他地区和国外越来越受欢迎。由此可推知,划线短语所在句“The
student
bank
really
caught
on
when
he
came
up
with
the
“Recycle
Plan”,”意为:当他提出“回收计划”时,学生银行真的大受欢迎,划线短语“caught
on”意为“突然大受欢迎,突然成功”。故选B项。

the
country.”可知,秘鲁环境部长Lucia
Ruiz表示:“他在理财教育方面做出了许多成年人可能无法实现的惊人改变。他实现了双重目标,因为他不仅为儿童和青少年设计了一个理财机会,而且帮助减少了国家的浪费。”由此可知,Lucia
Ruiz认为Jose的工作对理财教育和回收利用做出了贡献。故选B项。

【解析】
【分析】这是一篇说明文。文章主要说明了如今的年轻人很多有睡眠问题,分析了睡眠对身体的重要性以及提出了养成良好睡眠习惯的建议。
【16题详解】
根据上文“One
in
every
five
young
people
has
a
sleep
problem,
so
you’re
not
alone.
Getting
enough
sleep
has
become
as
important
as
eating
vegetables
and
exercising
regularly,(每五个年轻人中就有一个有睡眠问题,所以你不是一个人。充足的睡眠已经变得和吃蔬菜和定期锻炼一样重要)”可知,上文提到年轻人有睡眠问题,指出充足的睡眠已经变得和吃蔬菜和定期锻炼一样重要,可见是在强调睡眠对身体的重要性,A选项中It指代上文Getting
enough
sleep。故A选项“它对你的身体非常重要”符合语境,故选A。
【17题详解】
根据上文“Most
young
people
only
get
seven
hours
of
sleep
each
night,
when
they
actually
need
nine
hours.(大多数年轻人每晚只睡7个小时,而实际上他们需要9个小时)”以及后文“In
fact,
sleeping
late
on
weekends
may
actually
do
you
more
harm
than
good,
if
you
have
sleep
problems.(事实上,如果你有睡眠问题,周末晚懒觉可能弊大于利)”可知,后文提到了周末睡懒觉的问题,可推测是想通过周末弥补睡眠的不足,但这是行不通的,后文说明了原因。故G选项“在周末弥补睡眠不足是行不通的”符合语境,故选G。
【18题详解】
根据上文“If
your
sleep
problem
continues
for
a
few
nights,
you
could
suffer
serious
problems.(如果你的睡眠问题持续几个晚上,你可能会遭受严重的问题)”以及后文“Worse,
if
your
sleep
difficulties
last
a
long
time,
that
could
lead
to
anxiety.(更糟糕的是,如果你的睡眠困难持续很长时间,可能会导致焦虑)”可知,上文提到了睡眠问题可能导致的问题,可推测本句应承接上文,具体说明睡眠不足会导致哪些问题,故D选项“睡眠不足会影响学习和记忆”符合语境,故选D。
【19题详解】
根据上文“Wake
up
around
the
same
time
every
morning.
When
you
sleep
late
just
one
morning
during
the
week,
it
may
disturb
your
body
clock.(每天早上都在同一时间醒来。当你在一周中的某一天早上睡懒觉时,它可能会干扰你的生物钟)”可知,上文提到睡懒觉会干扰生物钟,本句为本段最后一句,应承接上文说明干扰生物钟的结果:会让你那晚难以入睡。故E选项“这会让你那晚难以入睡”符合语境,故选E。
【20题详解】
根据上文“If
trying
these
tips
over
a
couple
of
weeks
does
not
help
you,
consult
your
doctor.
Don
not
take
any
medicine
without
first
asking
your
doctor.(如果在几周内尝试这些方法没有帮助,请咨询你的医生。在没有问过医生之前不要服用任何药物)”可知,上文提到了服用药物的问题,B选项中them指代上文中medicine。故B选项“许多药物有强烈的副作用”符合语境,故选B。

【解析】
【分析】这是一篇应用文。文章中作者向对方就关于Ledchester无家可归的人的文章做出回复。作者认为更有效的帮助无家可归人的方式是去慈善商店买东西,作者还认为慈善活动根本不能真正解决问题,只是为了让人们在这一天自我感觉良好。所以作者和妻子决定资助一个孩子,并鼓励其他人也应当去资助一个孩子,这样做至少是有意义的。
【36题详解】
考查冠词。句意:我认为更有效的捐钱方式是去Ledchester的某个慈善商店买东西,诸如Oxfam商店。way是可数名词,根据句意,此处表示泛指“一个更有效的方法”,应用不定冠词,more是以辅音因素开头的单词,故填a。
【37题详解】
考查连词。句意:这不是真正的慈善,因为你在买东西,但是你知道这笔钱将用于一项好的事业。结合句意可知,前后文是转折关系。故填but。
【38题详解】
考查动词时态和主谓一致。句意:在最近几年,如同我们都知道的,为了给慈善机构筹集资金,已经组织了很多大型活动。分析句子可知,空格处是谓语动词,由时间状语in
recent
years可知,用现在完成时,主语是a
lot
of
big
events,是复数,故助动词用have,故填have
been。
【39题详解】
考查动词时态。句意:许多人会记得1985年的“拯救生命”。许多著名的乐队聚在一起举办音乐会,并录制了一张唱片,所有的钱都流入了埃塞俄比亚,因为那里的食物短缺。分析句子可知,get是谓语动词,根据上文提到的时间“in
1985”可知,讲述过去发生的事情用一般过去时,与主语bands是主动关系,故填got。
【40题详解】
考查非谓语动词。句意同上。分析句子可知,此处考查“with+宾语+宾语补足语”,go是宾语补足语,与宾语all
the
money是主动关系,故用现在分词作宾语补足语,故填going。
【41题详解】
考查名词。句意同上。冠词修饰名词,此处表示“食物短缺”,short是形容词,名词形式是shortage,既可用作可数名词也可用作不可数名词,故填shortage(s)。
【42题详解】
考查副词。句意:英国广播公司每年都有一个“需要帮助的孩子”日。分析句子可知,空格用副词作时间状语,yearly“每年;一年一度”。故填yearly
【43题详解】
考查定语从句。句意:然而,我不相信这些事件能解决这个问题,在我看来,这只是让人们自我感觉良好一天,然后在这一年剩下的时间里忘记慈善和发展中国家的问题。分析句子成分可知,空格处引导非限制性定语从句,从句中作主语,指代整个主句,用关系代词which,故填which。
【44题详解】
考查形容词。句意同上。修饰名词用形容词,根据句意,此处为“发展中国家”的问题,developing“发展中的”符合句意,故填developing。
【45题详解】
考查固定短语。句意:我们不知道这是否是最好的帮助方法,但至少它是有意义的。“at
least”至少,是固定短语,故填at。

47.
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成以一篇完整的短文。
On
a
trip
to
California,
my
family
stopped
for
lunch.
As
we
walked
toward
the
entrance
to
the
restaurant,
a
man,
with
messy
beard
and
dirty
hair,
jumped
up
from
a
bench
and
opened
the
door
for
us.
Regardless
of
his
appearance,
he
greeted
us
in
a
friendly
way.
Once
inside,
my
daughters
whispered,
“Mom,
he
smells.”
After
we
ordered
our
lunch,
I
explained
,
telling
the
kids
to
look
beyond
the
dirt.
We
then
watched
other
customers
approach
the
restaurant
but
many
ignored
him.
Seeing
this
rudeness
truly
upset
me.
The
day
I
became
a
mother,
I
had
resolved
to
set
a
good
example
for
my
children.
Yet
sometimes
when
things
didn’t
go
right,
being
a
good
example
was
tough.
When
our
meal
arrived,
I
realized
I
had
left
the
car-sick
pills
in
the
truck.
With
the
windiest
trip
ahead,
the
kids
needed
them,
so
I
excused
myself
from
the
meal
and
went
to
get
them.
Just
then,
the
“doorman”
was
opening
the
door
for
couple.
They
rushed
past
him
without
even
acknowledging
his
presence.
Letting
them
in
first,
I
said
a
loud
“thank
you”
to
him
as
I
exited.
He
seemed
a
bit
surprised,
and
then
smiled
back
me,
unnoticed,
even
showing
a
little
shyness
and
bitterness.
When
I
returned,
we
talked
a
bit,
He
said
he
was
not
allowed
inside
unless
he
purchased
food.
I
went
back
and
told
my
family
his
story.
Then
I
asked
our
waitress
to
add
one
soup
and
sandwich.
The
kids
looked
puzzled
as
we
had
already
eaten,
but
when
I
said
the
other
was
for
the
“doorman”,
they
smiled.

【解析】
【分析】本文以人物为线索展开,讲述了作者和孩子旅行时遇到一个胡子凌乱、头发肮脏的男人在餐厅门口给人们开门,但很多人都不理他,这个“看门人”为作者开门时,作者大声地和他道谢,还给他买了食物,他感动得哭了,作者也感悟到对不幸的人心存感激,可以带给他们温暖,把善良传递给更多需要帮助的人。
【详解】1.段落续写:
①由第一段首句内容“到了我们继续旅行的时候,我注意到那个‘看门人’正在享受他的饭菜。”可知,第一段可描写“看门人”对作者的感谢以及作者的反应。
②由第二段首句内容“回到卡车上,我转向我的孩子们。”可知,第二段可描写孩子们和作者从这件事中得到的感悟。
2.续写线索:“看门人”享受饭菜——“看门人”和作者握手——作者和“看门人”拥抱——孩子们和作者感悟

The
smartphone
has
long
since
become
our
constant
companion.
While
gaming
used
to
be
limited
to
computers
and
consoles(操控台),
gaming
on
mobile
phones
has
become
very
popular
in
recent
years.
New
developments
in
the
area
of
smartphone
production
make
mobile
gaming
particularly
attractive.
Tablets
in
particular
have
a
sufficiently
large
display
to
allow
gaming
with
very
high
resolution(分辨率).
In
addition,
there
are
eight-core
processors
that
are
not
only
installed
in
current
flagships,
but
also
in
the
middle
class.
With
appropriate
graphics
card(显卡),
nothing
stands
in
the
way
of
mobile
gaming.
That
being
said,
it
is
much
more
convenient
to
play
games
on
the
smartphone
or
tablet.
One
advantage
that
mobile
games
have
is
their
low
price.
Many
games
are
offered
for
free
in
the
app
stores.
The
developers
generate
their
income
through
so-called
in-game
purchases.
The
users
can,
for
example,
activate
special
features
for
which
he
would
otherwise
have
to
wait
a
certain
time,
or
which
he
would
otherwise
not
be
able
to
access
at
all.
And
ever
if
the
mobile
games
cost
something,
gamers
pay
a
lot
less
than
when
playing
on
the
console.
While
there
were
more
card
games
or
hits
like
Snake
on
the
first
mobile
phones,
more
and
more
complex
games
can
be
found
in
app
stores
today.
This
includes
sports
games,
role-playing
games.
What
also
attract
gamers
to
smartphones
are
mobile
versions
of
well-known
games.
So
you
can
control
the
life
of
your
Sims
from
your
mobile
phones,
catch
Pokemon
on
your
smartphone
and
finally
get
your
Hogwarts
letter
that
you’ve
been
waiting
for
so
many
years.
That
attracts
customers.
You
can
also
find
a
lot
of
self-growth
and
many
other
brain
training
games
like
Sharp
Knife
Target,
Hexagong
Brain
Workout,
and
etc,
in
Play
Stores.
4.
What
can
we
learn
from
the
passage?
A.
Game
players
are
used
to
playing
on
computers
and
consoles.
B.
New
technology
makes
mobile
gaming
appealing
and
popular.
C.
Players
enjoy
playing
mobile
games
on
devices
with
high
resolution.
D.
We
can
not
find
any
complex
games
in
app
stores
nowadays.
5.
How
does
the
author
probably
introduce
different
mobile
games?
A.
Sharing
some
details.
B.
Giving
some
examples.
C.
Analyzing
a
phenomenon.
D.
Listing
the
names
of
games.
6.
What’s
the
author
towards
mobile
games?
A.
Acceptable
B.
Critical
C.
Worried
D.
Doubtful
7.
What’s
the
purpose
of
the
article?
A.
To
tell
the
readers
how
to
play
mobile
games
well.
B.
To
inform
the
readers
of
why
not
limit
mobile
gaming.
C
To
explain
the
reason
why
mobile
gaming
is
so
popular.
D.
To
give

The
Earth
is
losing
some
of
its
major
freshwater
supplies.
But
the
water
is
not
in
lakes
or
rivers.
They
are
called
“aquifers(含水层)”.
Some
aquifers
are
so
deep
that
water
from
very
heavy
rains
cannot
reach
them
through
all
the
rock
and
dirt.
Many
aquifers
provide
irrigation(灌溉)water
for
crops.
The
freshwater
is
helping
farmers
in
many
countries.
But
a
new
report
says
some
aquifers
are
being
emptied.
Irrigated
agriculture
is
responsible
for
about
80
percent
of
freshwater
use
worldwide.
A
growing
part
of
that
comes
from
underground
aquifers
because
of
dry
weather
or
farmers
growing
crops
in
areas
with
little
rainfall.
But
researchers
say
taking
water
from
aquifers
is
creating
a
large
problem.
Scientists
warn
that
there
is
not
much
that
can
be
done
to
repair
them.
It
is
difficult
to
measure
ground-water
and
to
know
how
much
water
is
there
and
where
it
is,
because
it
is
so
deep
underground.
The
water
from
these
aquifers
many
not
be
replaced
for
hundreds
of
years.
The
report
says
some
countries
use
the
most
non-renewable
groundwater
for
agricultural
production.
If
China
and
India
use
up
the
groundwater
they
need
to
feed
their
populations,
they
would
be
forced
to
buy
more
food.
This
increased
demand
could
cause
food
prices
to
rise.
The
study
shows
that,
while
countries
like
Somalia
are
dealing
with
little
rainfall,
the
world
may
someday
face
an
underground
drought.
It’s
a
global
issue.
We
don’t
have
any
great
solutions
or
strategies
to
deal
with
this.
So,
at
least,
we
need
to
have
discussions
to
come
up
with
new
ways,
new
strategies
that
recognize
this
problem
and
manage
how
we
might
adjust
our
policies.
Any
strategy
must
balance
the
short-term
need
for
food
with
the
long-term
survival
of
the
Earth’s
aquifers.
8.
Why
is
it
tough
to
recover
underground
water?
A.
More
water
is
drawn
than
it
is
added.
B.
Researchers
have
no
way
to
know
about
it.
C.
Underground
is
too
deep
for
rainwater
to
reach.
D.
There
are
more
areas
with
little
rainfall
around
the
world.
9.
What’s
the
final
result
of
the
disappearance
of
underground
water?
A.
Food
will
become
more
expensive.
B.
More
people
in
the
world
will
be
fed
on.
C.
It
is
harder
to
discover
underground
water.
D.
There
will
be
less
rainfall
due
to
dry
weather.
10.
How
does
the
author
feel
when
stating
the
fact
in
the
text?
A.
Amazed
B.
Concerned
C.
Subjective
D.
Calm
11.
What
may
be
the
best
title
for
the
text?
A.
It’s
Time
to
Stop
Using
Underground
Water!
B.
To
Save
Underground

Is
Everyone’s
Duty.

Jose
Adolfo
is
a
banker
from
Peru.
He
encourages
children
to
save
money
and
offers
his
customers
cash
for
recycling
plastic
wastes.
But
the
remarkable
thing
is
that
he
is
still
a
child
himself.
By
the
age
of
7,he
decided
to
create
a
bank
for
children.
He
was
motivated
by
seeing
his
classmates
skipping
lunch
because
they
had
spent
the
little
money
they
had
on
sweets
or
football
cards.
What
drove
him
even
more
was
the
poverty
he
saw
among
children.
With
the
support
of
a
local
company,
the
14-year-old
founded
the
Bartselana
student
bank
which
now
has
more
than
2,000
customers
between
the
ages
of
10
and
18.
Children
can
withdraw(提取)
money
from
several
cashpoints
of
the
bank.
They
can
also
monitor
their
balances
online.
What
makes
it
different
from
traditional
banks
is
that
it
sets
savings
goals
for
children.
They
have
to
reach
those
goals
in
order
to
withdraw
their
money.
The
student
bank
really
caught
on
when
he
came
up
with
the
“Recycle
Plan”,
a
new
way
for
the
children
to
earn
money
by
collecting
recyclable
plastic
or
paper
waste.
Students
can
bring
recyclable
plastic
bottles,
used
school
books
and
old
newspapers
to
the
schools
and
put
them
into
the
collecting
boxes.
The
recycling
is
weighed
and
the
money
goes
to
their
bank
accounts.
The
bank
recycles
4.4
tons
of
material
a
month
and
has
collecting
boxes
in
seven
schools
in
Arequipa.
More
are
on
a
waiting
list.
Increasingly
the
model
is
in
demand
in
the
rest
of
Peru
and
abroad.
His
efforts
have
been
noticed
by
Peru’s
environment
ministry.
“He’s
making
an
amazing
change
in
financial
education
that
perhaps
many
adults
could
not
come
up
with,”
said
the
Peru’s
environment
minister,
Lucia
Ruiz.
“He’s
achieving
a
double
goal
because
he’s
not
just
designing
a
financial
opportunity
for
children
and
teenagers
but
also
helping
to
reduce
waste
in
the
country.”
12.
What’s
the
purpose
of
creating
a
bank
for
children
for
Jose?
A.
To
recycle
the
waste.
B.
To
provide
free
lunch.
C.
To
learn
to
manage
money.
D.
To
help
children
in
poverty.
13.
What
is
special
about
the
student
bank?
A.
Saving
goals
are
set
for
children.
B.
The
balances
are
monitored
online.
C.
Customers
should
obey
the
bank
rules.
D.
Money
can
be
withdrawn
from
some
cashpoints.
14.
What’s
the
similar
meaning
of
caught
on
in
paragraph
4
?
A.
Drew
on.
B.
Took
off.
C.
Looked
forward.
D.
Gave
rise
to.
15.
According
to
Lucia
Ruiz,
why
is
Jose’s
job
meaning?
A.
He
told
children
the
significance
of
running
a
bank.
B
He
contributed
to
financial
education
and
recycling.
C.
He
let
children
know
how
important
saving
money
is.
D.
He
solved
children’s
realistic
problem—skipping
lunch.

Sleep
Struggle
One
in
every
five
young
people
has
a
sleep
problem,
so
you’re
not
alone.
Getting
enough
sleep
has
become
as
important
as
eating
vegetables
and
exercising
regularly,
____16____
.
Most
young
people
only
get
seven
hours
of
sleep
each
night,
when
they
actually
need
nine
hours.
____17____
In
fact,
sleeping
late
on
weekends
may
actually
do
you
more
harm
than
good,
if
you
have
sleep
problems.
What
happens
if
you
don’t
get
enough
sleep?
If
your
sleep
problem
continues
for
a
few
nights,
you
could
suffer
serious
problems.
____18____
Worse,
if
your
sleep
difficulties
last
a
long
time,
that
could
lead
to
anxiety.
Therefore,
you’ve
got
to
have
some
healthy
sleep
habits.
Below
are
some
suggestions:
※Go
to
bed
at
the
same
time,
including
weekends,
if
possible.
※Wake
up
around
the
same
time
every
morning.
When
you
sleep
late
just
one
morning
during
the
week,
it
may
disturb
your
body
clock.
____19____.
※Do
something
relaxing
before
going
to
bed.

Exercise
during
the
day.
Don’t
exercise
right
before
going
to
bed.
※Avoid
drinking.
Alcohol
makes
you
excited.
This
prevents
you
from
falling
asleep
or
wakes
or
wakes
you
up
during
the
night.
If
trying
these
tips
over
a
couple
of
weeks
does
not
help
you,
consult
your
doctor.
Don
not
take
any
medicine
without
first
asking
your
doctor.
____20____
.
A.
It’s
vey
important
for
your
body.
B.
Many
of
them
have
strong
side
effect.
C.
Just
keep
trying
makes
it
easier
to
fall
asleep.
D.
Lack
of
sleep
can
affect
learning
and
memory.
E.
This
will
make
it
hard
for
you
to
sleep
that
night.
F.
People
with
sleep
problems
should
make
up
for
lost
sleep
on
weekends.
G.
And
making
up
for
lost
sleep
by
on
weekends
doesn’t
really
work.

Dear
Sir,
I
am
writing
in
reply
to
your
article
about
homelessness
in
Ledchester
as
it
raises
questions
about
whether
or
how
we
should
give
money
to
charity.
I
think
____36____
more
effective
way
to
give
money
is
to
buy
things
in
one
of
the
many
charity
shops
in
Ledchester
such
as
the
Oxfam
shop.
This
isn’t
really
charity
as
you
are
buying
something,
____37____you
know
the
money
is
going
to
a
good
cause.
In
recent
years,
as
is
known
to
all
of
us,
there
____38____
(be)
a
lot
of
big
events
organized
to
raise
money
for
charity.
Many
will
remember
“Live
Aid”
in
1985.
Lots
of
famous
bands
____39____
(get)
together
to
hold
a
concert
and
make
a
record
with
all
the
money
____40____
(go)
to
Ethiopia
because
of
the
food
____41____(short)
there.
The
BBC
also
has
a
“Children
in
Need”
day
____42____
(year).
In
one
sense
you
could
say
that
these
events
are
very
successful
as
they
raise
a
lot
of
money.
However,
I
don’t
believe
that
these
events
solve
the
real
problems,
____43____
,
in
my
view,
just
allow
people
to
feel
good
about
themselves
for
a
day
and
then
forget
about
charity
and
problems
in
the
____44____(develop)
world
for
the
rest
of
the
year.
My
wife
and
I
decided
to
support
a
child.
We
give
a
certain
amount
of
money
every
month
and
this
goes
to
pay
for
the
education
of
a
girl
in
Ethiopia.
I
would
encourage
your
readers
to
support
a
child
too.
We
don’t
know
if
it
is
the
best
way
to
help,
but_____45_____least
it
is
something.

On

my

stopped
for

As
we

After
we
ordered
our
lunch,
I
explained
,
telling
the
kids
to
look
beyond
the
dirt.
We
then
watched
other
customers
approach
the
restaurant
but
many
ignored
him.
Seeing
this
rudeness
truly
upset
me.
The
day
I
became
a
mother,
I
had
resolved
to
set
a
good
example
for
my
children.
Yet
sometimes
when
things
didn’t
go
right,
being
a
good
example
was
tough.
When
our
meal
arrived,
I
realized
I
had
left
the
car-sick
pills
in
the
truck.
With
the
windiest
trip
ahead,
the
kids
needed
them,
so
I
excused
myself
from
the
meal
and
went
to
get
them.
Just
then,
the
“doorman”
was
opening
the
door
for
couple.
They
rushed
past
him
without
even
acknowledging
his
presence.
Letting
them
in
first,
I
said
a
loud
“thank
you”
to
him
as
I
exited.
He
seemed
a
bit
surprised,
and
then
smiled
back
me,
unnoticed,
even
showing
a
little
shyness
and
bitterness.
When
I
returned,
we
talked
a
bit,
He
said
he
was
not
allowed
inside
unless
he
purchased
food.
I
went
back
and
told
my
family
his
story.
Then
I
asked
our
waitress
to
add
one
soup
and
sandwich.
The
kids
looked
puzzled
as
we
had
already
eaten,
but
when
I
said
the
other
was
for
the
“doorman”,
they
smiled.
