Would like sb. to do sth. 意为“想要某人去做某事”， 相当于want sb. to do sth. 如：

（2）What’s the matter 什么事啊？
Matter 是名词，意为“问题，要紧事，事情”如：
They have important matters to do. 他们有重要的事情要做。
【注意】What’s the matter with sb./sth.＝What’s wrong with sb./sth. ＝What’s the trouble with sb./sth. 某人/某物怎么了？口语中常用“What’s up ”怎么啦？
Matter 还可以作动词，意为“要紧，有重大关系”如：
It doesn’t matter to me what you do. 你做什么我都无所谓。
（3）I can hear you playing the piano. 我听到你在弹钢琴。
Hear sb. doing sth. 意为“听见某人正在做某事”。Hear 为感官动词，后面跟动词的ing 形式作宾语补足语，表示正在进行的动作。它后面还可以跟动词原形作宾语补足语，表示经常发生的动作或动作的全过程。
I hear them singing songs in the next room. 我听到他们正在隔壁唱歌。(正在唱歌)
I often hear them sing songs in the next room. 我经常听到他们在隔壁唱歌。（经常唱歌）
（4）Mr. Smart lives at the end of Elm Road. 斯玛特先生居住在榆树路的尽头。
At the end of……在……的尽头。作名词，意为“末尾，终点”，既可以指时间，又可以指地点。如：He goes to visit his grandparents at the end of every month. 他每月底都去看望祖父母。
