B
Jack
Andraka
was
15
when
he
came
up
with
an
idea
for
a
new
way
to
test
for
pancreatic
(胰腺)
cancer.
When
Andraka
was
14,
a
family
friend
died
of
the
disease,
and
this
affected
him
deeply.
This
kind
of
cancer
is
particularly
serious
because
there
is
no
test
you
can
have
done
to
find
it
in
the
early
stages.
By
the
time
standard
tests
determine
you
have
the
disease,
it
is
often
too
late.
Realizing
that
this
was
the
case,
Andraka
decided
to
try
to
develop
a
test
that
might
catch
problems
at
the
earliest
stages.
The
road
ahead
looked
difficult
for
Andraka.
He
was
still
a
high
school
student,
and
he
wanted
to
create
something
that
no
one
else
had
done.
But
Andraka
read
endlessly
about
the
disease,
wrote
a
proposal
for
his
idea,
and
sent
it
out
to
200
cancer
researchers.
Only
one
professor,
Dr.Anirban
Maitra,
responded
positively.
Dr.Maitra
agreed
to
work
with
Andraka
on
his
idea,
giving
him
guidance
and
access
to
a
laboratory.
The
next
big
reward
for
Andraka’s
perseverance
was
winning
the
grand
prize
at
the
Intel
International
Science
and
Engineering
Fair.
This
great
award
is
given
to
young
innovators
who
have
developed
a
world-changing
idea.
Developing
the
test
is
likely
to
take
many
years,
but
Andraka
hopes
the
test
will
eventually
improve
people’s
lives
and
maybe
save
them.
Jack
Andraka
is
not
alone
as
a
young
innovator.
After
all,
there
were
1,499
other
contestants
for
the
Intel
award,
and
all
of
them
had
ground-breaking
ideas.
For
Andraka,
having
a
family
that
loves
science
and
encourages
creative
thinking
gave
him
an
advantage.
But
the
key
for
Andraka
is
that
reading,
research,
and
discovery
are
just
plain
fun,
and
the
chance
to
improve
the
world
around
him
in
the
process
makes
it
even
better.
4.
Why
did
Andraka
decide
to
develop
a
test
for
pancreatic
cancer?
A.
His
friend’s
encouragement.
B.
An
upsetting
experience.
C.
His
extensive
reading.
D.
An
important
test.
5.
What
difficulty
did
Andraka
meet
at
the
beginning
of
his
research?
A.
Lack
of
positive
replies
from
experts.
B.
Heavy
pressure
from
his
schoolwork.
C.
Little
access
to
research
equipment.
D.
Great
need
of
money
to
develop
a
test.
6.
Which
of
the
following
leads
to
Andraka’s
award
winning?
A.
The
competition
with
other
contestants.
B.
His
determination
to
improve
the
world.
C.
The
support
from
his
family.
D.
His
passion
for
discovery.
7
What
can
we
learn
from
Andraka’s
story?
A.
Practice
makes
perfect.
B.
Hard
work
leads
to
success.
C.
One
good
turn
deserves
another.
D.
Failure
is
the
mother
of
success.

A
new
study,
published
this
week
in
the
journal
Frontiers
in
Veterinary
Science,
reveals
that
non-human
animals'
tears
are
not
so
different
from
our
own.
The
chemical
similarities
are
so
great,
in
fact,
that
the
composition
of
other
species'
tears—and
how
they're
adapted
to
their
environments-may
provide
insights
into
better
treatments
for
human
eye
disease.
Previously,
scientists
had
studied
closely
only
the
tears
of
a
handful
of
mammals,
including
humans,
dogs,
horses,
camels,
and
monkeys.
In
the
new
study,
Brazilian
veterinarians
analyzed
the
tears
of
reptiles
and
birds
for
the
first
time
,
focusing
on
seven
species.
Tears,
which
are
released
from
tear
tubes,
form
a
film
over
the
eye
that's
composed
of
three
ingredients:
mucus,
waler,
and
oil.
The
mucus
coats
the
eyes
surface
and
helps
to
attach
the
film
to
the
eye,
the
water
is
a
natural
salty
solution
containing
crucial
proteins
and
minerals,
and
the
oil
prevents
the
eye
from
drying
out.
Humans
are
the
only
known
species
to
produce
emotional
tears;
the
expression
"crocodile
tears,"
which
refers
to
a
person's
phony
display
of
emotion,
comes
from
the
mysterious
tendency
of
crocodiles
to
release
tears
as
they
eat.
But
tears
play
key
roles
beyond
weeping,
notes
Lionel
Sebbag
at
Iowa
State
University,
who
was
not
involved
in
the
new
research.
They
help
with
vision
by
lubricating
and
clearing
the
eye.
They
also
protect
the
eye
against
infection
and
provide
nutrition
to
the
cornea,
the
eye's
clear
outer
layer,
which
lacks
blood
tubes,
he
says.
Learning
how
reptiles
and
birds'
use
tears
may
also
inspire
new
medications
for
conditions
such
as
dry
eye,
which
occurs
when
tear
tubes
don't
produce
enough
oil.
The
disease,
common
in
cats,
dogs,
and
people,
can
sometimes
lead
to
blindness.
8.
What
is
paragraph
3
mainly
about?
A.
The
source
of
tears.
B.
The
composition
of
tears.
C.
The
classification
of
tears,
D.
The
definition
of
tears.
9.
What
does
the
underlined
word
"phony”
in
paragraph
4
mean?
A.
Tricky.
B.
Regretful.
C.
Cold.
D.
False.
10.
Which
statement
does
Lionel
Sebbag
agree
with?
A.
Weeping
contributes
to
eye
disease.
B.
The
cornea
has
rich
blood
tubes.
C.
Tears
oil
and
clear
the
eyes.
D.
More
tears
mean
better
vision.
11.
What
might
be
the
best
title
for
the
text?
A.
Tears,
a
barrier
to
eyes
B.
A
better
treatment
for
eye
disease
C.
Non-human
tears
promise
new
cures
D.

In
a
country
where
over
80%
of
residents
live
in
public
housing,
a
government
commitment
to
sustainable

could
have
huge
influence.
And
when
it’

a
tropical
country

Singapore
where
convenience

a
way

It
is,
however,
the
first
with
centralized

automated
trash

and
a
car-free
town
center,
with
which
environment
lovers
hope
to
offer
a
roadmap
for
reducing
carbon
emissions
in
the
Southeast
Asian
city-state.
The
development
is
named
as
“Forest
Town”
by
officials,
due
to
its
abundant
greenery
and
public
gardens.
Once
home
to
brickmaking

and
later
used
for
military
training,
the
2.7-square-mile

he
said
in
a

“We’re

of

with
everything

and
then
the
ground
level
totally
freed
up
for
pedestrians
—
for
people.
So,
it’s
a
very
safe
environment
for
all.”
“We
want
a
town
that
allows
walking
and
cycling
in
a
very
user-friendly
manner,”
he
added,
saying
that
cycling
has
“taken

in
Singapore
in
the
“last

根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
What’s
the
purpose
of
building
patience
abilities?
In
a
word,
happiness.
Better
relationships,
more
success.
But
indeed
it
takes
efforts
to
build
them
successfully.
___16___.
Thus,
when
the
big
ones
come,
we
will
have
developed
the
patience
we
need
for
hard
times.
Understand
the
addictive
nature
of
anger
and
impatience.
We,
human
beings,
are
still
constructed
with
our
old
reptilian
(爬行动物似的)
brain
that
protects
our
physical
and
emotional
survival.
On
the
emotional
survival
side,
we
want
our
way
to
get
ahead,
to
achieve,
to
“look
good.”
Let’s
just
face
it.
___17___
So
the
first
step
in
growing
patience
is
to
get
in
touch
with
the
addictive
quality
of
the
opposite
of
patience—anger,
impatience,
blaming
and
shaming.
We
all
have
them.
And
we
can
grow
beyond
them.
Upgrade
our
attitude
towards
discomfort
and
pain.
Pain
has
its
purposes
and
pushes
us
to
find
solutions—we
try
to
change
the
other
person,
situation
or
thing
that
we
think
is
causing
our
discomfort.
But
the
problem
is
that
it
is
not
the
outside
thing
that’s
the
source
of
our
pain,
but
how
our
mind
is
set.
___18___
Pay
attention
when
the
impatience
or
pain
starts.
Most
of
us
don’t
really
realize
it
when
we
are
feeling
even
the
smallest—but
very
present—painful
feelings.
___19___
But
to
really
care
for
ourselves,
get
curious
about
what’s
actually

第二节(满分25分)
47.
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Lungs
nearly
bursting,
I
struggled
to
lift
my
head
out
of
the
water.
Inch
by
inch,
my
tired
body
reached
for
the
end
of
the
pool.
The
extent
of
my
swimming
career
was
purely
recreational,
while
the
competitive
swimmers
nearby
thought
nothing
of
the
seemingly
simple
task
of
a
500-meter
swim
test.
Pushing
myself
to
finish
what
I
had
started,
I
could
only
think:
why
not
take
the
easy
way
out?
Earlier
that
week,
I
had
turned
in
my
first
job
application
at
a
local
pool.
Overqualified,
I
was
hired
on
the
spot.
However,
the
tasks
were
boring:
helping
confused
visitors
and
measuring
the
height
of
children
before
they
went
down
the
slide,
those
sorts
of
things.
I
was
capable
of
more.
So
a
swim
test
was
required,
establishing
the
mere
fact
that
I
was
not
completely
helpless
in
a
pool.
Midway
through,
the
manager
administering
the
test
remarked,
“This
looks
really
easy
for
you.
Why
aren't
you
applying
to
become
a
guard?"
“The
thought
hadn't
crossed
my
mind."
“Well,
lifeguarding
demands
more
responsibility,
strength
and
respect.
Thus
the
position
pays
$2
more
per
hour.
Your
swimming
skills
are
strong
enough.
All
you
need
to
do
is
complete
a
certification
class.”
Inside
I
was
unsure
of
myself,
but
his
words
inspired
me-You
never
know
what
you
are
capable
of
until
you
force
yourself
to
do
it.
Soon
I
passed
the
swim
test.
All
left
was
to
practice
and
learn
first
aid,
CPR(心肺复苏),
and
procedures
for
different
land
and
water-based
emergencies.
Work
started
soon.
A
well-
intentioned
yet
anxious
feeling
in
me
soon
passed.
Days,
weeks,
and
months
went
by
without
incident;
emergencies
were
rare.
The
skills
and
training
I
had
so
carefully
studied
and
acquired
seemed
unnecessary.
Today
appeared
to
be
another
uneventful
day.
However,
shortly
after
the
other
guards
signaled
to
the
children
to
exit
the
pool,
I
noticed
one
boy
was
still
in
the
middle
while
the
others
had
climbed
up.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
“Something

I

【解析】
【分析】本文是一篇应用文。文章主要介绍了参观雅茅斯美术馆的各种信息。
【1题详解】
细节理解题。根据最后一段“Your
admission
to
our
Yarmouth
location
can
be
used
(max
7
days
after
purchase)
for
a
50%
discount
off
admission
at
our
location

Halifax,
the
main
complex
of
the
Art
Gallery
of
Nova
Scotia.(您可以使用我们雅茅斯的门票(购买后最多7天)在我们位于哈利法克斯的位置,新斯科舍省艺术画廊的主要综合体,以五折的价格入场)”可知,新斯科舍省美术馆的主楼位于哈利法克斯,雅茅斯美术馆是新斯科舍省美术馆的一个分馆。故选D。
【2题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段的内容,尤其是“Save
your
receipt
and
receives50%
off
admission
at
the
Halifax
Gallery.
Ask
the
front
desk
for
more
details.(保存您的收据,并获得50%的入场费在哈利法克斯画廊。更多的细节可以问前台)”可知,在购买雅茅斯分馆门票的七天内,凭借此门票,可以享受哈利法克斯美术馆门票5折的的优惠。由此推知,作者在最后一段中鼓励游客去参观哈利法克斯美术馆。故选B。
【3题详解】
细节理解题。根据文章中介绍票价的相关内容可知,这个家庭最佳的购票方式是选择购得一张家庭票12.50美元,另一张按
Youth(age
6-17)购买是2.5美元,合计为15美元。根据题干中的“four
adolescent
children”可知,这个家庭有四个处于青春期的孩子,他们应该属于
Youth(age
6-17)类,所以部分考生想当然的认为这个家庭的购买方式应该是:一张按
Member购买是免费的,一张按
Adult购买是6美元,另外四张按
Youth(age
6-17)购买是10美元,一共是16美元,但这并不是这个家庭可选的支付最少的购票方式,所以D项错误。故选C。
B
Jack
Andraka
was
15
when
he
came
up
with
an
idea
for
a
new
way
to
test
for
pancreatic
(胰腺)
cancer.
When
Andraka
was
14,
a
family
friend
died
of
the
disease,
and
this
affected
him
deeply.
This
kind
of
cancer
is
particularly
serious
because
there
is
no
test
you
can
have
done
to
find
it
in
the
early
stages.
By
the
time
standard
tests
determine
you
have
the
disease,
it
is
often
too
late.
Realizing
that
this
was
the
case,
Andraka
decided
to
try
to
develop
a
test
that
might
catch
problems
at
the
earliest
stages.
The
road
ahead
looked
difficult
for
Andraka.
He
was
still
a
high
school
student,
and
he
wanted
to
create
something
that
no
one
else
had
done.
But
Andraka
read
endlessly
about
the
disease,
wrote
a
proposal
for
his
idea,
and
sent
it
out
to
200
cancer
researchers.
Only
one
professor,
Dr.Anirban
Maitra,
responded
positively.
Dr.Maitra
agreed
to
work
with
Andraka
on
his
idea,
giving
him
guidance
and
access
to
a
laboratory.
The
next
big
reward
for
Andraka’s
perseverance
was
winning
the
grand
prize
at
the
Intel
International
Science
and
Engineering
Fair.
This
great
award
is
given
to
young
innovators
who
have
developed
a
world-changing
idea.
Developing
the
test
is
likely
to
take
many
years,
but
Andraka
hopes
the
test
will
eventually
improve
people’s
lives
and
maybe
save
them.
Jack
Andraka
is
not
alone
as
a
young
innovator.
After
all,
there
were
1,499
other
contestants
for
the
Intel
award,
and
all
of
them
had
ground-breaking
ideas.
For
Andraka,
having
a
family
that
loves
science
and
encourages
creative
thinking
gave
him
an
advantage.
But
the
key
for
Andraka
is
that
reading,
research,
and
discovery
are
just
plain
fun,
and
the
chance
to
improve
the
world
around
him
in
the
process
makes
it
even
better.
4.
Why
did
Andraka
decide
to
develop
a
test
for
pancreatic
cancer?
A.
His
friend’s
encouragement.
B.
An
upsetting
experience.
C.
His
extensive
reading.
D.
An
important
test.
5.
What
difficulty
did
Andraka
meet
at
the
beginning
of
his
research?
A.
Lack
of
positive
replies
from
experts.
B.
Heavy
pressure
from
his
schoolwork.
C.
Little
access
to
research
equipment.
D.
Great
need
of
money
to
develop
a
test.
6.
Which
of
the
following
leads
to
Andraka’s
award
winning?
A.
The
competition
with
other
contestants.
B.
His
determination
to
improve
the
world.
C.
The
support
from
his
family.
D.
His
passion
for
discovery.
7.
What
can
we
learn
from
Andraka’s
story?
A.
Practice
makes
perfect.
B.
Hard
work
leads
to
success.

C
A
new
study,
published
this
week
in
the
journal
Frontiers
in
Veterinary
Science,
reveals
that
non-human
animals'
tears
are
not
so
different
from
our
own.
The
chemical
similarities
are
so
great,
in
fact,
that
the
composition
of
other
species'
tears—and
how
they're
adapted
to
their
environments-may
provide
insights
into
better
treatments
for
human
eye
disease.
Previously,
scientists
had
studied
closely
only
the
tears
of
a
handful
of
mammals,
including
humans,
dogs,
horses,
camels,
and
monkeys.
In
the
new
study,
Brazilian
veterinarians
analyzed
the
tears
of
reptiles
and
birds
for
the
first
time
,
focusing
on
seven
species.
Tears,
which
are
released
from
tear
tubes,
form
a
film
over
the
eye
that's
composed
of
three
ingredients:
mucus,
waler,
and
oil.
The
mucus
coats
the
eyes
surface
and
helps
to
attach
the
film
to
the
eye,
the
water
is
a
natural
salty
solution
containing
crucial
proteins
and
minerals,
and
the
oil
prevents
the
eye
from
drying
out.
Humans
are
the
only
known
species
to
produce
emotional
tears;
the
expression
"crocodile
tears,"
which
refers
to
a
person's
phony
display
of
emotion,
comes
from
the
mysterious
tendency
of
crocodiles
to
release
tears
as
they
eat.
But
tears
play
key
roles
beyond
weeping,
notes
Lionel
Sebbag
at
Iowa
State
University,
who
was
not
involved
in
the
new
research.
They
help
with
vision
by
lubricating
and
clearing
the
eye.
They
also
protect
the
eye
against
infection
and
provide
nutrition
to
the
cornea,
the
eye's
clear
outer
layer,
which
lacks
blood
tubes,
he
says.
Learning
how
reptiles
and
birds'
use
tears
may
also
inspire
new
medications
for
conditions
such
as
dry
eye,
which
occurs
when
tear
tubes
don't
produce
enough
oil.
The
disease,
common
in
cats,
dogs,
and
people,
can
sometimes
lead
to
blindness.

mean?
A.
Tricky.
B.

D.
False.
10.
Which
statement
does
Lionel
Sebbag
agree
with?
A.
Weeping

【9题详解】
词义猜测题。根据画线词后文“display
of
emotion,
comes
from
the
mysterious
tendency
of
crocodiles
to
release
tears
as
they
eat”可知,鳄鱼进食的时候会流泪,所以“鳄鱼的眼泪”指的是一个人虚假的情感表达。即画线词意思是“虚假的”。A.
Tricky.狡猾的;B.
Regretful.后悔的;C.
Cold.寒冷的;D.
False.虚假的。故选D。
【10题详解】

What’s
the
purpose
of
building
patience
abilities?
In
a
word,
happiness.
Better
relationships,
more
success.
But
indeed
it
takes
efforts
to
build
them
successfully.
___16___.
Thus,
when
the
big
ones
come,
we
will
have
developed
the
patience
we
need
for
hard
times.
Understand
the
addictive
nature
of
anger
and
impatience.
We,
human
beings,
are
still
constructed
with
our
old
reptilian
(爬行动物似的)
brain
that
protects
our
physical
and
emotional
survival.
On
the
emotional
survival
side,
we
want
our
way
to
get
ahead,
to
achieve,
to
“look
good.”
Let’s
just
face
it.
___17___
So
the
first
step
in
growing
patience
is
to
get
in
touch
with
the
addictive
quality
of
the
opposite
of
patience—anger,
impatience,
blaming
and
shaming.
We
all
have
them.
And
we
can
grow
beyond
them.
Upgrade
our
attitude
towards
discomfort
and
pain.
Pain
has
its
purposes
and
pushes
us
to
find
solutions—we
try
to
change
the
other
person,
situation
or
thing
that
we
think
is
causing
our
discomfort.
But
the
problem
is
that
it
is
not
the
outside
thing
that’s
the
source
of
our
pain,
but
how
our
mind
is
set.
___18___
Pay
attention
when
the
impatience
or
pain
starts.
Most
of
us
don’t
really
realize
it
when
we
are
feeling
even
the
smallest—but
very
present—painful
feelings.
___19___
But
to
really
care
for
ourselves,
get
curious
about
what’s
actually
happening
in
the
moment
inside
you.
Focusing
on
what’s
actually
happening,
you
can
notice
the
worry
of
not
wanting
what’s
happening,
the
resistance.
___20___
When
you
find
yourself
impatient,
or
angry
with
yourself,
you
can
remind
yourself
that
you
are
growing,
and
that,
“Sure,
this
is
understandable;
this
is
what
happens
to
me
when
I’m
bothered.”
You
can
say
to
yourself,
“It’s
true.
I
don’t
like
this;
this
is
uncomfortable,
but
I
can
tolerate
it.”
A.
Practice
positive

【解析】
【分析】这是一篇说明文。短文介绍了培养耐心的四个步骤。
【16题详解】
由下文的“Understand
the
addictive
nature
of
anger
and
impatience.
Upgrade
our
attitude
towards
discomfort
and
pain.
Pay
attention
when
the
impatience
or
pain
starts.
Practice
positive
self-talk.”理解愤怒和不耐烦的上瘾本质。提高我们对不适和痛苦的态度。注意什么时候开始不耐烦或痛苦。进行积极的自我对话。可推断,小题1要总说“
建议用一些有效的方法来训练自己,让自己在工作中少一些痛苦和烦恼”。故G选项“建议用一些有效的方法来训练自己,让自己在工作中少一些痛苦和烦”符合句意。故G选项切题。
【17题详解】
由“
On
the
emotional
survival
side,
we
want
our
way
to
get
ahead,
to
achieve,
to
“look
good.”
Let’s
just
face
it.
___2___
So
the
first
step
in
growing
patience
is
to
get
in
touch
with
the
addictive
quality
of
the
opposite
of
patience—anger,
impatience,
blaming
and
shaming”可知,在情感生存方面,我们希望以我们的方式取得进步,实现自己的目标,让我们“看起来很好”。让我们面对现实吧。培养耐心的第一步是接触与耐心相反的上瘾品质——愤怒、不耐烦、指责和羞辱。所以小题2要起到承上启下的作用,来说明保护我们自己和我们认为有价值的东西的免于冲动是通过习惯的养成实现的。故F选项“保护我们自己和我们认为有价值的东西的免于冲动是通过习惯的养成实现的”符合句意。故F选项切题。
【18题详解】
由“But
the
problem
is
that
it
is
not
the
outside
thing
that’s
the
source
of
our
pain,
but
how
our
mind
is
set”可知,并不是外在的东西而是我们的思想是如何形成的造成了我们的痛苦,所以小题3要总结性地说明“痛苦的解决方案是一项内部工作”,故B选项“痛苦的解决方案是一项内部工作”符合句意,故B选项切题。
【19题详解】
由“
Most
of
us
don’t
really
realize
it
when
we
are
feeling
even
the
smallest—but
very
present—painful
feelings”可知,当我们经历最小的,但存在的痛苦的感觉,我们中的大多数人都不会真正意识到。所以小题4承接上文。故E选项“我们忽略了我们正处于痛苦中的事实,而完全专注于解决问题”符合句意。故E选项切题。
【20题详解】
由“When
you
find
yourself
impatient,
or
angry
with
yourself,
you
can
remind
yourself
that
you
are
growing,
and
that,
“Sure,
this
is
understandable;
this
is
what
happens
to
me
when
I’m
bothered.”
You
can
say
to
yourself,
“It’s
true.
I
don’t
like
this;
this
is
uncomfortable,
but
I
can
tolerate
it.”可知,当你发现自己不耐烦或对自己生气时,你可以提醒自己,你正在成长,“当然,这是可以理解的;当我烦恼的时候就会这样。你可以对自己说:“这是真的。”我不喜欢这样;这很不舒服,但我能忍受”。所以本段主要在说明进行积极的自我对话,也就是小题5本段的标题所要说明的内容。故A选项“进行积极的自我对话”符合句意。故A选项正确。

local
pool.
Overqualified,
I
was
hired
on
the
spot.
However,
the
tasks
were
boring:
helping
confused
visitors
and
measuring
the
height
of
children
before
they
went
down
the
slide,
those
sorts
of
things.
I
was
capable
of
more.
So
a
swim
test
was
required,
establishing
the
mere
fact
that
I
was
not
completely
helpless
in
a
pool.
Midway
through,
the
manager
administering
the
test
remarked,
“This
looks
really
easy
for
you.
Why
aren't
you
applying
to
become
a
guard?"
“The
thought
hadn't
crossed
my
mind."
“Well,
lifeguarding
demands
more
responsibility,
strength
and
respect.
Thus
the
position
pays
$2
more
per
hour.
Your
swimming
skills
are
strong
enough.
All
you
need
to
do
is
complete
a
certification
class.”
Inside
I
was
unsure
of
myself,
but
his
words
inspired
me-You
never
know
what
you
are
capable
of
until
you
force
yourself
to
do
it.
Soon
I
passed
the
swim
test.
All
left
was
to
practice
and
learn
first
aid,
CPR(心肺复苏),
and
procedures
for
different
land
and
water-based
emergencies.
Work
started
soon.
A
well-
intentioned
yet
anxious
feeling
in
me
soon
passed.
Days,
weeks,
and
months
went
by
without
incident;
emergencies
were
rare.
The
skills
and
training
I
had
so
carefully
studied
and
acquired
seemed
unnecessary.
Today
appeared
to
be
another
uneventful
day.
However,
shortly
after
the
other
guards
signaled
to
the
children
to
exit
the
pool,
I
noticed
one
boy
was
still
in
the
middle
while
the
others
had
climbed
up.

【答案】
“Something
must
have
gone
wrong
with
him,”
I
thought
to
myself.
Sure
enough,
with
a
closer
look,
I
found
the
boy
waving
his
hands
desperately.
I
quickly
dived
into
the
water,
swimming
towards
the
boy
at
full
speed.
By
the
time
I
reached
him,
he
had
sunk
to
the
bottom
of
the
pool,
his
head
hanging
down,
which
filled
my
heart
with
fright
and
concern.
I
picked
the
boy
up
and
headed
to
the
poolside,
keeping
his
head
above
the
water.
Having
the
boy
on
the
floor,
I
put
my
ear
to
his
mouth
and
my
fingers
at
his
neck.
I
could
tell
that
he
had
no
heartbeat
and
wasn’t
breathing.
Every
second
counted!
Without
hesitation,
I
did
first
aid,
giving
him
mouth-to-mouth
breathing
and
doing
CPR
as
trained.
Other
guards
watching
anxiously,
I
carried
on,
sweating.
Suddenly,
a
stream
of
water
burst
out
of
his
mouth
and
the
boy
coughed
intensely.
Seeing
the
boy
regain
consciousness,
those
around
broke
into
cheers.
Exhausted,
I
sighed
with
relief.
I
thought
had
I
accepted
that
easy
position,
I
would
have
been
nothing
but
a
bystander.
I’m
happy
I
didn’t
take
the
easy
way
out.
【解析】
【分析】本文以人物为线索展开,讲述了作者向一家游泳馆递交了第一份工作申请,完成一些诸如帮助困惑的游客,在孩子滑下滑梯之前测量他们的身高等事情。在进行测试时,经理提议让作者去当一名救生员,于是作者采纳了这个建议。经过一系列培训,作者成为了一名救生员,但好像所学的东西也无用武之地。
【详解】1.段落续写:
①由第一段首句内容“‘他一定是出了什么问题,’我心想。”可知,第一段可描写作者发明并营救这个溺水男孩的经过。
②由第二段首句内容“让男孩躺在地板上,我把耳朵凑到他的嘴边,手指放在他的脖子上。”可知,第二段可描写作者如何运用自己学过的救生员知识救了这个孩子的。
2.续写线索:发现男孩溺水——抱起男孩——实施急救——男孩恢复知觉——松了口气
