A
young
woman
one
day
said
something
that
hurt
her
best
friend
of
many
years.
She
regretted
it
immediately
and
would
like
to
do
anything
to
take
the
words
back.What
she
had
said
hurt
her
friend
so
much
that
the
woman
herself
also
felt
very
painful.
To
make
up
what
she
had
done,
she
went
to
an
old
wise
man
in
the
village
and
asked
for
advice.
The
old
man
understood
the
young
woman's
suffering.
He
knew
he
must
help
her.
He
knew
he
could
never
remove
her
pain,
but
he
could
teach.
And
he
also
knew
the
result
would
depend
only
on
her
character.
“Tonight
take
your
best
feather
pillows
and
put
single
feather
on
the
doorstep
of
each
house
in
the
village
before
the
sun
rises”,he
said.
The
young
woman
hurried
home
to
prepare
for
it,
even
though
the
feather
pillows
were
very
dear
to
her.
All
night
long,
she
made
her
efforts
alone
in
the
cold.
Finally
it
got
light
and
she
placed
the
last
feather
on
the
step
of
the
last
house.
Just
as
the
sun
rose,
she
returned
to
the
old
man.
“Now,”said
the
man,
“go
back
and
refill
your
pillows
with
the
feathers
you
have
put
on
the
steps.
Then
everything
will
be
as
it
was
before.”
“You
know
that's
impossible!
The
wind
blew
away
each
feather
as
fast
as
I
placed
them
on
the
doorsteps!”
The
young
woman
was
surprised.
“That's
true.”
said
the
old
man,
“Each
of
your
words
is
like
a
feather
in
the
wind.
Once
your
words
are
spoken,
no
matter
how
much
effort
you
make
and
how
sincere
you
are,
you
can
never
return
them
to
your
mouth.
Choose
your
words
well
and
protect
people
you
love
from
being
hurt.”

for
the
biggest

of
the
year.
Home
automation(自动化),
health

once
again
be
hot
topics,
but
many
companies
will

our

Each
year,
reporters,

and
investors
typically
explore

showrooms
filled
with
giant

and
robots,

CES
will
be
online
only
for
the

54-year
history
due

The

Technology
Association,
the
nonprofit
behind
the
four-day
event
starting
Monday,

1,800

will
fill
its
"digital
venue"
this
year—a
number
that's
down
significantly
from
4,000
in-person
exhibitors?last
year.
The
move
will
allow
tech
companies
from
countries
which
have
never
attended
before
to
take
part
in
the
online
exhibition,
but
could
also
make
it
harder
for
smaller
companies
to
get
noticed
without
a
physical
showroom.
Registered
attendees
will
be
able
to
stream
and
re-watch
keynotes

companies
such
as?Verizon?(_VZ_)?and?General
Motors?(_GM_),
tune
in
to
breakout
sessions

about
how,
for
example,
technology
is
playing
a
role
in
vaccine
deployment(疫苗的应用)—and

through
a
registry
of
exhibitors
to
watch
new
product
presentations.
It'll
lack
some
of
the
signature
ingredients(因素)of
the
trade
show,
such
as
hands-on
time
with
the
latest
small
machines
and
networking.
But?the

have
been
taken
to
cut
down
on
food
waste,
but
one
young
man
is
making
a
big
difference
with
technology.
Liu
Jichen,
23,
a
student
from
Tsinghua
University,
has
developed
a
WeChat
mini-program
called
“Clear
Your
Plate”.
After
a
meal,
users
can
open
the
mini-program
and
take
a
picture
of
their
empty
plates.
Once
the
image
is
recognized
by
the
AI,
students
can
collect
points
and
use
them
to
buy
gifts
or
purchase
charity
meals
for
children
in
poor
rural
areas.
Liu
and
his
team,
together
with
other
organizations,
launched
the
“Clear
Your
Plate”
campaign
in
November
for
the
third
year.
It
has
swept
over
1,017
universities
across
the
country.
Furthermore,
the
one-month
campaign
attracted
almost
1.6
million
participants
and
collectively
reduced
food

China
Youth
Daily
reported.
“Technological

Liu
thought.
He
organized
a
team
to
work
on
the
project
at
the
end
of
2017.
To
solve
the
AI’s
problem
of
identifying
photos
of
empty
plates,
the
team
spent
half
a
year
collecting
over
100,000
samples
in
canteens
and
restaurants.
In
2018,
the
mini-program
was
officially
put
into
operation
on
Oct
16,
World
Food
Day.
They
then
launched
a
campaign
later
that
year.
“There
were
so
many
unknowns
in
research
and
development.
For
our
team
members,
the
biggest
challenge
was
whether
we
were
confident
enough
to
complete
it,”
Liu
said.
They
not
only
achieved
their
goal,
but
now,
the
mini-program
has
more
than
5
million
registered
users.
“We
hope
our
efforts
can
start
a
new
trend
among
the
younger
generation
by
encouraging
them
to
cherish
their
food
and
contribute
Chinese
wisdom
and
solutions
to
global
food
security
challenges,”
he
added.
37.

food
for
rewards.

helped
reduce
food
waste
by
3,337
tons.
C.
Its
5

registered
users

students.

aims

As
well
as
learning
the
language,
students
should
get
familiar
with
their
host
country's
legal
system
and
culture.

What
are
your
legal
rights
as
a
foreigner
abroad?
Research
your
destination.
Before
you
leave,
find
out
as
much
as
you
can
about
the
local
area
using
travel
advisories
(公告)and
alumni(校友)recommendations.
42
Pay
attention
to
everyday
safety.
In

friend
as

as
your

embassy
or
consulate(领事馆).
Protect

Pennsylvania

an

People
in
Pennsylvania
view
it
as

My

we

In
the

we

第二卷(三部分,共50分)
第一部分:语法填空。(共10小题;每小题1.5分;满分15分)
阅读下面短文,根据上下文填入适当的词语,或使用括号中的词语的适当形式填空。并将答案填在答题卡上标号为61—70的相应位置。
The
English
word
“dinner”
used
to
refer
to
breakfast.
It
comes
from
the
Old
French
word
“disnar”,
61
in
fact
means
“breakfast”.
So
62
did
this
word
come
to
have
a
different
meaning?
63
(tradition),
dinner
(what
we
now
refer
to
as
breakfast)
was
the
first
meal
of
the
day,
eaten
around
noon.
It
also
happened
to
be
the
64
(big)
meal
of
the
day,
with
a
lighter
meal
coming
later
65
(know)
as
supper.
Today
many
people
find
66
strange
that
the
biggest
meal
of
the
day
once
centered
around
noon,
67
it
made
great
sense
at
that
time.
Artificial
lighting
such
as
oil
lamps
and
candles
were
expensive,
and
provided
weak
light
at
best.
So
people
went
to
sleep
at
sundown,
because
it’s
difficult
68
(work)
and
eat
in
the
dark.
The
last
meal
of
the
day
was
a
rushed
affair,
a
quick
snack
before
the
lights
went
out.
Eventually,
more
meals
69
(add)
to
the
day.
This
meant
that
people
were
eating
smaller
meals
before
the
bigger
meal.
So
the
word
that
once
70
(refer)
to
our
first
meal,
now
refers
to
our
last.
However,
it
is
true
that
in
many
Western
cultures
dinner
still
remains
the
biggest
meal
of
the
day.

第二节
读后续写(满分
10
分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写一段,使之构成一个完整的故事。
When
my
daughter
Lily
reached
the
fourth
grade,
I
occasionally
allowed
her
to
walk
to
and
from
school
alone.
One
warm
spring
day,
a
small
friend
followed
her
home
after
school.
This
friend
had
short
stumpy
legs
and
long
floppy
ears.
She
was
the
cutest
puppy
I
had
ever
seen.
And
Lily
begged
me
to
keep
her.
I
didn’t
know
what
to
do.
I
thought
about
running
an
ad
in
the
lost-and-found
(失物
招领处)but
I
really
didn’t
want
to.
It
would
break
Lily’s
heart
if
someone
showed
up.
Besides,
her
owners
should
have
watched
her
more
closely,
I
told
myself.
By
the
end
of
the
week
she
was
part
of
our
family.
She
was
very
intelligent
and
good
with
Lily.
This
was
a
good
idea,
I
thought.
We
had
named
the
puppy
Molly.
She
followed
us
everywhere
we
went.
When
we
went
outside,
she
was
one
step
behind
us.
When
we
were
back
from
school
or
work,
she
greeted
us
by
wagging
her
tail
and
barking
cheerfully.
When
we
did
chores,
she
was
there
to
lend
a
hand,
or
rather,
a
paw.
It
seemed
as
if
she
had
belonged
to
us
long
before.
The
following
week
something
told
me
to
check
the
lost-and-found
section
in
the
local
paper.
One
particular
ad
jumped
out
at
me
and
my
heart
pounded
with
fear
at
what
I
read.
Someone
was
begging
for
the
return
of
a
lost
puppy
near
the
school.
They
sounded
desperate.
My
hand
shook.
I
couldn’t
bring
myself
to
pick
up
the
phone.
But
my
conscience
(良心)
was
bothering
me.
I
knew
in
my
heart
I
had
to
call
that
number
and
see
if
our
Molly
was
the
puppy
they
were
desperately
seeking.
But
it
was
the
most
difficult
thing
I’d
ever
done.
Finally,
with
sweaty
palms,
I
lifted
the
phone
and
dialed.
A
woman
answered.
As
I
described
the
dog
to
her
in
detail,
her
voice
shook
with
excitement
and
she
wanted
to
come
right
over.
Within
minutes
I
heard
a
vehicle
pull
up
at
the
driveway
and
some
footsteps
stop
at
the
door.
Head
cradled
in
my
hands
and
heart
hammering,
a
thousand
thoughts
crossed
my
mind:
I
could
pretend
I
wasn’t
home
or
tell
her,
“I’m
sorry,
you
have
the
wrong
address.”
But
it
was
too
late:
the
bell
rang
and
Molly
was
barking.

One

and

“Here,

she

“Come

Molly
instantly
obeyed,
wagging
her

wildly.
My
heart
sank.
Seemingly
sensing
my

the

explained
that
Lucy(Molly)

more

just
a

to
her

an

“Lucy

she

Suddenly
I

God

As

that
puppy
was
exactly
