B
Ever
since
I
graduated
from
high
school
I’ve
worked
in
the
factories
surrounding
my
hometown
every
summer.
However,
making
the
transformation
between
school
and
full-time
blue-collar
work
during
the
break
never
gets
any
easier.
For
a
student
like
me
who
considers
any
class
before
noon
to
be
unacceptable,
getting
to
a
factory
by
6
o’clock
each
morning
is
suffering.
My
friends
never
seem
to
understand
why
I’m
so
relieved
to
be
back
at
school
or
that
my
summer
vacation
has
been
anything
but
a
vacation.
There
are
few
people
as
self-confident
as
a
college
student
who
has
never
been
out
in
the
real
world.
People
of
my
age
always
seem
to
overestimate
the
value
of
their
time
and
knowledge.
In
fact,
all
the
classes
did
not
prepare
me
for
my
battles
with
the
machine
I
ran
in
the
plant,
which
would
jam
whenever
I
absent-mindedly
put
in
a
part
backward
or
upside
down.
The
most
stressful
thing
about
blue-collar
life
is
knowing
your
job
could
disappear
over
night.
Issues
like
being
laid
off
and
overseas
relocation
had
always
seemed
distant
to
me
until
my
co-workers
told
me
that
the
unit
I
was
working
in
would
shut
down
within
six
months
and
move
to
Mexico,
where
people
would
work
for
60
cents
an
hour.
After
working
12-hour
shifts
(轮班)
in
a
factory,
the
other
options
have
become
only
too
clear.
“This
job
pays
well,
but
it’s
hell
on
the
body,”
said
one
co-worker.
“Study
hard
and
keep
reading.”
she
added.
When
I’m
back
at
the
university,
skipping
classes
and
turning
in
lazy
re-writes
seems
too
irresponsible
after
seeing
what
I
would
be
doing
without
school.
All
the
advice
and
public-service
announcements
about
the
value
of
an
education
that
used
to
sound
stale
(陈腐的)
now
ring
true.
My
experiences
in
the
factories
have
inspired
me
to
make
the
most
of
my
college
years
before
I
enter
the
real
world
for
good.
24.
What
does
the
author
think
of
his
summer
holiday?
A.
It
was
no
holiday
for
him
at
all.
B.
It
brought
him
nothing
but
suffering.
C.
It
was
a
relief
from
his
hard
work
at
school.
D.
It
offered
him
a
chance
to
make
more
friends.
25.
What
can
we
infer
about
most
college
students?
A.
They
do
better
in
the
real
world.
B.
They
are
confident
when
they
work.
C.
They
think
too
highly
of
themselves.
D.
They
are
expert
at
handling
machines.
26.
What
is
the
biggest
pressure
for
blue-collar
workers?
A.
A
low
income
B.
The
lack
of
security
C.
An
unstable
location
D.
Less
break
27.
How
did
the
working
experiences
change
the
author?
A.
He
became
responsible
for
his
work.
B.
He
learned
to
be
more
practical
at
work.
C.
He
began
to
respect
blue-collar
workers.
D.
He
came
to
appreciate
his
college
education.

US
author
Henry
Rollins
once
wrote:
“Loneliness
adds
beauty
to
life.
It
puts
a
special
burn
on
sunsets
and
makes
night
air
smell
better.”
Indeed,
in
the
eyes
of
artists,
loneliness
never
seems
to
go
out
of
style.
There
are
paintings
that
portray
loneliness,
songs
that
are
inspired
by
loneliness,
and
many
works
of
literature
that
center
around
this
theme.
In
the
eyes
of
UK
economist
Rachel
Reeves,
however,
loneliness
is
far
from
romantic.
Instead,
it’s
a
“giant
evil”
that’s
become
a
serious
problem
in
the
country.
So
just
how
serious
is
it?
On
Jan
17,
UK
Prime
Minister
Theresa
May
appointed
politician
Tracey
Crouch
as
the
country’s
very
first
“Minister
for
Loneliness”.
Her
job
is
to
tackle
(处理)
the
loneliness
that
the
country’s
been
feeling—a
problem
which,
according
to
UK
government
research,
is
affecting
more
than
9
million
people
in
the
country,
and
is
more
harmful
to
one’s
physical
and
mental
health
than
smoking
15
cigarettes
a
day.
And
the
problem
hasn’t
just
appeared
recently.
Back
in
2014,
the
UK
was
given
the
title
of
the
“loneliness
capital
of
Europe”
by
The
Telegraph.
A
survey
carried
out
by
the
newspaper
found
that
British
people
were
less
likely
to
get
to
know
their
neighbors
or
build
strong
relationships
with
people
than
those
from
other
European
countries.
“There
is
something
about
British
wanting
to
deal
with
problems
themselves,”
Christian
Guy,
director
of
the
Centre
for
Social
Justice
think-tank
(智囊团),
told
The
Telegraph.
But
this
doesn’t
mean
that
the
problem
only
affects
Britons.
In
fact,
we’re
all
suffering
from
loneliness
now
more
than
ever,
in
spite
of
most
of
the
world
now
having
access
to
the
Internet,
which
has
enabled
us
to
be
more
connected
than
ever.
What
we
need,
according
to
Kim
Leadbetter,
sister
of
the
late
UK
politician
Jo
Cox,
is
to
have
“proper
human
connections”.
“Our
lives
nowadays
are
so
busy.
We
spend
the
vast
majority
of
our
time
on
our
phones,
on
our
laptops.
We
need
to
press
pause
on
that
and
actually
sit
down
and
speak
to
human
beings,”
Leadbetter
said
at
an
event
last
year.
But
the
first
steps
toward
fighting
this
problem
are
to
accept
its
existence
and
not
be
ashamed
or
intimidated
(吓倒)
by
it.
After
all,
without
loneliness,
many
beautiful
paintings,
songs,
and
literary
works
wouldn’t
even
exist.
And
“evil”
or
not,
being
lonely
is
simply
part
of
the
experience
of
being
human.
28.
What
can
we
learn
about
the
UK’s
loneliness
problem?
A.
The
UK
became
the
loneliest
country
in
the
world
in
2014.

More
than
half
of
British
people
suffer
from
loneliness.
C.
The
government
is
working
to
solve
the
problem.
D.
British
people
communicate
less
with
their
neighbors
than
ever.
29.
According
to
the
text,
social
loneliness
_______.
A.
has
become
a
problem
worldwide
B.
didn’t
attract
the
public’s
attention
until
recently
C.
is
mainly
caused
by
the
wide
use
of
the
Internet
D.
does
more
harm
mentally
than
physically
30.
What
does
Leadbetter
suggest
doing
to
cope
with
loneliness?
A.
Making
more
phone
calls
to
our
friends.
B.
Stopping
the
use
of
electronic
products.
C.
Interacting
with
the
people
around
us
face
to
face
more
often.
D.
Accepting
its
existence
calmly.
31.
Which
of
the
following
would
the
author
probably
agree
with?
A.
Loneliness
is
a
giant
evil
of
society.
B.
Only
artists
can
appreciate
the
beauty
of
loneliness.
C.
It
is
hard
to
find
a
solution
to
social
loneliness.
D.
Loneliness
is
just
a
normal
part
of
our
life.
D
For
those
who
think
that
wealth
can
come
without
love,
you
should
reconsider
your
position.
To
get
wealth,
if
you
believe
what
you
see
in
movies,
seems
to
mean
that
you
have
to
give
up
love
because:
how
can
people
get
wealth
if
they
are
afraid
to
roll
over
others
who
stand
in
their
way?
I
would
disagree
with
this
view
because
I’ve
seen
a
bad
example.
Several
years
ago,
I
knew
a
man
who
lost
not
only
his
wealth
but
also
his
respect,
and
at
last
was
put
into
prison
for
deceiving
(欺骗)
his
customers
to
make
money.
He
was
a
man
who
pretended
to
care
for
the
well-being
of
his
customers
who
gave
him
their
trust.
He
had
been
a
man
with
good
fame
for
many
years,
often
admired
and
talked
about
as
a
true
model
of
a
caring
business
person.
However,
all
he
saw
was
the
opportunity
to
deceive
and
make
money.
But
I
have
also
seen
the
opposite.
Some
people
have
got
great
wealth
too,
because
they
first
feel
love
towards
others
and
start
businesses
that
help
meet
other
people’s
growth
needs.
For
example,
people
like
Dale
Carnegie,
Anthony
Robbins
and
other
famous
people
who
devoted
their
talents
and
lives
to
helping
other
people
move
forward.
?
And
there
is
also
another
kind
of
wealth.
Some
people
love
others
and
their
point
of
view
is
to
help
others.
These
people
will
get
wealth
that
is
not
measured
in
dollars
and
cents.
Instead,
it
is
measured
in
caring,
kindness,
and
the
appreciation
and
admiration
of
others
who
they
meet
and
deal
with
in
their
everyday
life.
They
are
quiet
millionaires
of
life;
millionaires
with
wealth
that
is
not
affected
by
the
ups
and
downs
of
the
stock
market
or
the
cost
of
daily
necessities.
32.
The
man
mentioned
in
Para.
3
failed
in
the
end
because
________.
?
A.
he
was
deceived
by
others
B.
he
wasn’t
good
at
deceiving
C.
he
didn’t
want
to
help
others
D.
he
made
money
in
a
wrong
way
33.
The
underlined
part
“the
opposite”
in
Para.
4
refers
to
those
who
________.
?
A.
get
wealth
by
helping
others
B.
succeed
by
deceiving
others
C.
help
others
but
ask
for
nothing
D.
make
efforts
to
meet
other
people’s
needs
34.
According
to
the
author,
if
you
love
and
help
others,
________.
?
A.
you
will
lose
a
lot
of
money
B.
you
won’t
care
about
money
C.
you
will
get
another
kind

语言知识运用(共两节,满分30分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,
满分15分)
阅读下面短文,
从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。
Double
Trouble
  When
I
was
eight,
I
wanted
a
toy
and
needed
$10
to
buy
it.
I
decided
to
ask
my
11-year-old
sister,
Kathleen,
for
a
loan.
I
went
to
her
room,
 41
her
for
the
cash.
Laughing,
she
agreed
to
lend
me
the
money,
but
added,
“I
will
charge
you
10
percent
compound
interest
every
 42
until
you
pay
me
back.
”?
  “Compound
interest—what’s
that?”
I
asked.
  “Well,
interest
is
what
you
call
the
 43
money
borrowers
have
to
pay
back
on
a
loan,

she
explained.
“Compound
interest
means
that
the
interest
payments
get
bigger
and
bigger
the
 44
you
take
to
pay
back
the
loan.
To
repay
the
loan,
you
will
need
to
give
me
$11
after
one
month.
If
you
wait
two
months
to
pay
me
back,
your
 45
will
grow
from
$10
to
$11.
So
I’ll
be
charging
you
interest
on
$11.
Then
I
will
add
that
interest
to
the
$11
you
already
owe
me,
for
a
 46
of
$12.
10.
That’s
what
you’ll
owe
after
two
months.
”?
  “Sure.
I
get
it.

I
said.
Though
truthfully,
I
was
getting
 47 .
?
  Kathleen
lent
me
the
money,
and
I
bought
the
toy.
My
birthday
came
a
month
later,
and
my
mom
gave
me
$10.
 48 ,
that
was
just
the
amount
I
needed
to
buy
another
toy
I
wanted
desperately.
I
put
off
paying
my
sister
for
a
month.
After
another
month,
I

about
the
loan.

  Several
months
later,
on
Christmas
morning,
my
sister
and
I
each
found
a
$20
bill
in
our
stockings.
I
was
just
putting
it
into
my
pocket
 50
Kathleen
tapped
me
on
the
shoulder.
?
  “Sorry
kiddo.
That’s
mine.
I’m
collecting
on
your
debt.
”“Huh?”
Then
I
remembered
the
loan.
“Hey!
How
can
it
be
that
much?
I
 51
borrowed
$10.
”?
  “True,

she
said,
“but
interest
has
been
compounding
for
eight
months.
Now
you
 52
me
$21.
43.
”?
  I
refused
to
believe
that
a
$10
loan
could
more
than
double
so
quickly.
Much
to
my
 53 ,
my
sister
got
her
pencil
and

and
showed
me
exactly
how
it
all
added
up.

I

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,

Through
our
lives,
we
can
gain
a
lot
and
lose
so
much.
But
being
honest
should
always
be
with
us,
as
honesty
is
always
regarded
as
a
virtue.
Every
time
I
talk
about
the
topic,
something
crowds
in
my
mind
as
if
it
had
just
happened.
I
was
16
when
one
morning,
Dad
told
me
I
could
drive
him
to
Mijas
and
then
take
the
car
in
a
nearby
garage
to
get
it
serviced.
At
that
time,
I
had
just
passed
the
driving
test,
and
I
hardly
had
a
chance
to
use
the
car,
so
I
said
yes
without
hesitation.
I
drove
my
father
to
Mijas,
promising
to
pick
him
up
again
at
4
pm,
then
I
went
to
a
nearby
garage,
and
put
the
car
in
there.
Since
I
had
several
hours
to
spare,
I
decided
to
go
to
a
movie
theater
near
the
garage
to
see
the
movie.
However,
I
was
so
absorbed
in
the
plot
of
the
movie
that
I
forgot
the
time.
When
the
last
movie
finished,
I
looked
at
my
watch:
6
pm.
I
was
two
hours
late!
I
thought
my
father
would
be
very
angry
if
he
knew
what
I
was
doing.
And
he
would
never
let
me
drive
again.
So
I
decided
to
make
up
an
excuse.
Then,
I
drove
to
the
appointed
place,
my
father
was
sitting
in
a
corner,
waiting
patiently.
I
first
apologized
for
being
late,
then
told
him
that
I
wanted
to
get
there
as
soon
as
possible,
but
that
something
was
wrong
with
some
of
the
main
parts
of
the
car.
I
would
never
forget
the
way
he
looked
at
me.
“I’m
very
disappointed
that
you
thought
you
had
to
lie
to
me,
Jason.”
My
father
looked
at
me
again
and
said,
“When
you
didn’t
show
up
on
time,
I
called
the
gas
station
and
asked
if
there
was
anything
wrong
They
told
me
you
never
picked
up
the
car.
So,
you
see,
I
know
there’s
nothing
wrong
with
the
car
at
all."
Paragraph

sometimes
at
night
it
gets
cold.
M:
Oh…
Well,
what
about
the
suit?
W:
I
have
a
big
meeting
on
Tuesday.
But
after
Tuesday,
it’s
vacation
time!
M:
Who
are
all
the
gifts
for?
W:
Oh,
my
family
lives
in
Mexico
City
so
I’m
bringing
them
some
souvenirs
from
New
York.
M:
And,
who’s
the
Yankee
cap
for?
W:
It’s
for
Della,
my
sister.
M:
What
about
this
mask?
W:
That
belongs
to
my
dad.
It’s
a
souvenir
from
his
New
York
visit,
but
he
forgot
it.
I
got
him
another
present—a
dog
whistle
I
bought
him
in
Tokyo.

M:
Creative
Rentals,
good
morning.
W:
Hello,
I’m
calling
about
the
apartment
you
have
for
rent.
M:
Yes,
what
can
I
tell
you
about
it?
W:
Where
is
it,
exactly?
M:
It’s
on
King
Street,
just
off
the
freeway.
W:
Oh,
near
the
freeway…
Can
you
hear
the
traffic?
M:
Yes,
I’m
afraid
you
do
hear
some.
But
the
apartment
has
lots
of
space.
It
has
three
small
bedrooms,
two
mid-size
balconies
and
a
very
large
living
room.
W:
I
see.
And
is
it
in
a
new
building?
M:
Well,
the
building
is
about
50
years
old.
W:
Well,
I’ll
think
about
it.
M:
OK,
thanks
for
calling.

W:
What
a
beautiful
place!
But
can
we
afford
it?
M:
I
wanted
the
best
restaurant
for
your
birthday.
And
since
you
like
the
art
of
French
cooking,
here
we
are!
Let’s
begin
with
a
cocktail
and
then
look
at
the
menu.
W:
I’m
going
to
start
looking
right
away
because
it
always
takes
me
a
year
to
make
up
my
mind
on
things
to
eat.Any
advice?
M:
You’ve
never
been
there
before,
but
everything
is
supposed
to
be
excellent.
W:
Look!
They
have
snails!
They
might
make
me
sick.
M:
I
feel
the
same
way.
I
think
I’ll
have
roast
duck.
It
comes
with
vegetables
and
potatoes.
W:
Sounds
good,
but
since
I
love
seafood,
I’m
going
to
have
the
fish,
and
let’s
have
the
salad
after
the
main
dish,
the
way
the
French
do!
M:
Fine.
We
should
have
white
wine
with
dinner
and
dessert
since
this
is
a
celebration.
W:
I
can
see
already
that
this
is
going
to
be
an
enjoyable
and
delicious
evening.

simply
part
of
the
experience
of
being
human.”(但解决这个问题的第一步是接受它的存在,而不是感到羞愧或被吓倒。毕竟,没有孤独,就不会有这么多出色的绘画、歌曲和文学作品,而不论其“邪恶”与否,孤独都只是生而为人的一种经历罢了。)可知,作者认为孤独只是我们生活中正常的一部分。选项D符合题意,故选D。
