The
cost

living
in
countries
like
the
U.S.,
Britain,
Australia
or
France
has
skyrocketed
in
recent
years.
However,
if
you're
willing

leave
your

Check

Ecuador

and
as
a
result
has
become
a
popular
American
getaway.
They
even
use
the
U.S.
Dollar
for
their
currency.
In
this
country,
it's
cheaper
to
eat
out
every
day
than
cook
for
yourself
on
a
budget
in
the
U.S.
You
can
even
buy
a
property
for
around
$50,000
and
hire
someone
to
tend
to
it
while
you're
away.
Mexico
Although
the
country
is
known
for
its
poverty-ridden
streets,
there
are
many
wealthier
areas
that
provide
every
facility
you
might
need.
You
can
live
off
a
mere
$700
to
$800
a
month
in
Mexico,
and
this
includes
rent
for
a
nice
place,
facilities,
food,
and
any
sightseeing.
Argentina
Argentina
has
been
a
popular
tourist
destination
for
many
years.
It
has
great
restaurants,
a
rich
history,
and
many
places
to
explore.
Not
to
mention,
it's
not
very
expensive
to
live
here.
A
decent
sized
home
can
cost
around
$139,000,
which
is
relatively
cheap
in
relation
to
homes
in
the
United
States.
Vietnam
Vietnam
has
also
become
a
popular
tourist
destination
in
recent
years.
There
are
many
million-dollar
luxury
homes
by
the
beach,
but
you
can
find
a
modest
flat
or
small
home
for
around
$25,000
to
$50,000
if
you
search
in
the
right
areas.

are
singing
the
Chinese

by
another
tune
in
Chinese—one
typically
sung
during
the
Lunar
New
Year.
But
this
scene
is
not
taking
place
in
a
Chinese
school
but
at
Lakewood

a
language
spoken
by
nearly
1
billion
people
almost
8,000
kilometers
away
from
their
home.
More

to
benefit

African
countries
to
build
highways,
dams,
stadiums
and
airports.
Henry
Adramunguni,
a
specialist
at
Uganda's
National
Curriculum(课程)Development
Centre,
said
Mandarin
was
included
in
the
curriculum
because
it
is
one
of
the
United
Nations'

of
work.
"We
want
to
give
the
opportunity
for
our
young
Ugandans
to
have
access
to
jobs,
education
and
business
beyond
our
borders.
That's
why

given
them
this
opportunity
to
learn
Chinese,"

C
When
there
are
some
strangers
in
front
of
us,
which
of
them
will
we
trust?
According
to
a
new
study
in
the
online
PLOS
One,
people
make
their
decisions
to
trust
others
largely
based
on
their
faces.
Your
appearance
can
do
a
lot
for
you,
especially
if
you
are
in
the
financial
industry.
The
more
trustworthy
you
look,
the
more
likely
people
will
buy
what
you're
selling.
Researchers
from
Britain's
University
of
Warwick
Business
School,
University
College
London,
and
Dartmouth
College,
US,
did
a
number
of
experiments.
The
research
team
used
computer
software
to
make
40
faces
from
the
least
to
the
most
trustworthy-looking.The
study
said
that
the
difference
between
a
trustworthy
face
and
one
that
isn't
as
trustworthy
comes
from
features
that
look
slightly
angry
or
slightly
happy,
even
when
the
face
is
at
rest.
However,
a
slightly
happy
face
is
more
likely
to
be
trusted.
Researchers
gave
participants
some
money
and
asked
them
which
face
they
trusted
to
invest
the
money
for
them.
Then
researchers
gave
some
good
and
bad
information
about
the
people
with
these
faces,
and
asked
the
participants
again
whom
they
trusted.
The
results
showed
that
even
if
they
got
different
information,
the
participants
didn't
change
their
choices.
They
were
still
more
likely
to
invest
their
money
with
the
more
trustworthy-looking
faces.
Chris
Olivola,
one
of
the
study's
authors,
said
in
the
University
of
Warwick's
press
release:
"It
seems
we
are
still
willing
to
go
with
our
own
instincts
about
whether
we
think
someone
looks
like
we
can
trust
them."
8.
According
to
the
study,
which
of
the
following
faces
is
most
likely
to
be
trusted?
A.
A
slightly
smiling
face.
B.
A
disappointed
face.
C.
An
embarrassed
face.
D.
A
nervous
face.
9.
What
do
we
know
about
the
experiments?
A.
The
trustworthy
faces
were
given
good
information.
B.
Researchers
took
photos
of
the
40
people's
faces
in
colleges.
C.
Participants
liked
to
choose
the
faces
with
good
information.
D.
Most
participants
gave
their
money
to
the
trustworthy-looking
faces.
10.
Which
of
the
following
best
explains
"instincts"
underlined
in
the
last
paragraph?
A.
Opinions
that
grow
out
of
social
practice.
B.
Judgments
that
are
easily
changed
by
others.
C.
Good
information
that
are
given
by
people
around.
D.
Feelings
rather
than
opinions
or
ideas
based
on
facts.
11.
What
is
the
text
mainly
about?
A.
Why
people
trust
a
stranger
with
good
appearance.
B.
People
usually
judge
strangers
according
to
their
faces.
C.
How
different
information
affects
people's
decisions.
D.
Why
the
research
team
carried
out
the
experiment.
【答案】8.
A
9.

B
【解析】
【分析】这是一篇说明文。文章介绍了一项调查研究发现人们会对笑脸更信任,会把钱给值得信任的脸,由此研究人员得出结论,人们往往会看脸来判断陌生人。
【8题详解】
细节理解题。根据第四段中的“However,
a
slightly
happy
face
is
more
likely
to
be
trusted.”(
然而,一张略快乐的脸更有可能被信任。)可知,微笑的脸是最值得信任的脸,故选A。
【9题详解】
细节理解题。根据第五段的“The
results
showed
that
even
if
they
got
different
information,
the
participants
didn't
change
their
choices.
They
were
still
more
likely
to
invest
their
money
with
the
more
trustworthy-looking
faces.
”(结果显示,即使他们得到不同的信息,参与者也不会改变他们的选择。他们仍然更有可能把钱投资在更值得信赖的面孔上。)可知,我们从试验中可以得知,绝大多数参与者把钱给了更值得信赖的面孔。故选D。
【10题详解】
词义猜测题。根据倒数第二段的“They
were
still
more
likely
to
invest
their
money
with
the
more
trustworthy-looking
faces.”(他们仍然更可能把钱投给那些看起来更值得信任的人。)以及划线词后的内容“about
whether
we
think
someone
looks
like
we
can
trust
them”(我们是否觉得某人值得信任)对画线词的解释可知,划线词所在句子的意思是“我们只从‘看起来是的’角度来评判一个人,而不是根据事实或所给的信息来评判”,由此可知画线词的意思是“感觉而非建立在事实基础之上的观点或者意见”。故选D。
【11题详解】
主旨大意题。文章第一段“When
there
are
some
strangers
in
front
of
us,
which
of
them
will
we
trust?
”(当我们面前有陌生人时,我们信任他们中的哪一个?)提出了问题。第二段的“According
to
a
new
study
in
the
online
PLOS
One,
people
make
their
decisions
to
trust
others
largely
based
on
their
faces.”(根据在线PLOS
One的一项最新研究可知,人们在很大程度上是根据他们的面孔来决定是否信任他人)结合下文通过一些试验来证明这个说法可知,本文主要讲述人们往往会通过看脸来判断陌生人。故选B。

Five
Ways
to
End
Procrastination
Never
put
off
till
tomorrow
what
may
be

today.
Waiting
until
later
is
one
of
life's
guilty
secrets,
but
procrastination

is
linked
to
poorer
health,
work
and
relationship
outcomes.
Here
are
five
ways
to
try
to
remedy
(纠正)
procrastination.
1.
A
five-minute
start
Five
minutes
is
nothing
—
it's
just
three
hundred
seconds.
It's
the
length
of
a
song
or
a
TV
commercial.
Pick
up
a
project
you've
been
putting
off
and
spare
just
300
seconds
of
your
time
to
do
it.___16___
After
a
while,
the
momentum
(动力)
of
beginning
the
task
will
push
you
forward.
2.
Set
goals
and
rewards
During
the
day,
set
goals
and
rewards.
Each
time
you
achieve
a
goal,
you
earn
the
reward:
a
short
break,
a
funny
YouTube
video
or
something
else.____17____Make
sure
you
select
a
time
to
review
your
progress
and
adjust
your
targets
accordingly.
3.
Be
good
to
yourself
—
me
today
versus
me
tomorrow
Sometimes,
when
you
find
yourself
buried
in
work,
you
are
upset
with
yourself
for
not
having
started
earlier.
Imagine
a
conversation,
between
―you
today
and
―you
tomorrow.
___18___
4.
I
was
there
—
witnessing
accountability
(责任制)
___19___
Consider
going
on
a
diet:
Is
there
more
pressure
if
you
don't
tell
a
soul,
or
if
you
announce
it
to
all
your
friends,
with
strict
rules
to
follow
if
you
are
invited
to
dinner?
It
seems
an
obvious
way
of
making
you
feel
guilty,
but
it
can
also
be
highly
effective.
5.
Set
creative
punishments
—
negative
consequences
Make
the
consequences
of
inaction
so
unbearable
that
you
have
no
choice
but
to
get
busy
now.
You
could
write
a
note
to
someone
that
you
don't
like.
Give
the
note
to
a
friend
with
strict
instructions
to
mail
the
note
if
you
do
not
achieve
your
goal.
The
more
you
dislike
the
other
party,
the
stronger
the
motivation
to
get
the
task
done.
Procrastination
is
a
silent
killer
of
dreams._____20_____By
understanding
and
fixing
your
procrastination,
you'll
discover
you
jump-start
many
areas
of
your
life.
A.
Everyone
suffers
from
it.
B.
Once
the
five
minutes
is
up,
stop
and
reassess.
C.
Everyone
likes
to
have
a
dream
of
procrastination.
D.
Going
public
with
a
goal
increases
your
support
and
accountability.
E.
What
is
the
future
of
my
life
with
the
intention
of

考查定语从句。句意:它们被他们的主人训练地很好,它们的主人在照顾这些动物方面很有经验。先行词为masters(主人),且从句缺主语。故关系词填who。
【45题详解】
考查一般过去时。句意:我们的主人跟我们分享了很多他们的经历并推荐了一些很好的吃饭、购物和参观的地方。“and”前后两个动作“shared”与“recommended”是并列关系,时态一致。故填recommended。
【46题详解】
考查名词。由空格前的不定冠词an与空格后的不定式to
watch可以确定空格处应该填名词形式。故填competition。
【47题详解】
考查形容词。空格修饰名词stories,应用形容词形式,tradition的形容词为traditional,故填traditional。
【48题详解】
考查副词。空格处修饰形容词popular,应用副词形式,huge的副词为hugely,故填hugely。
【49题详解】
考查一般过去时的被动语态。句意:我们被邀请去参加一场私人音乐会。由“on
the
last
day
of
our
week-long
stay”可知,句子时态为一般过去时,用被动语态。主语为we,故填were
invited。
【50题详解】
考查非谓语动词。本句谓语动词为“were
invited”,所以空格处动词listen应用非谓语动词形式。听音乐这个动作是由we发出的,所以选用现在分词形式。也可由and前后连接两个并列的结构这一规律解题,and后meeting
interesting
locals为分词形式,故空格处填listening。

【解析】
【分析】这是一篇说明文。文章倡议为世界上最贫穷的人选择真正有用的礼物,给需要的社区带来美好未来的希望。
这项捐赠将在新的农业方法方面培训整个村庄,并提供种子和简单的农业设备。
【详解】1.考查冠词。句意:你愿意捐赠一份不寻常的礼物吗?此处unusual是发音以元音音素开头的单词,应用不定冠词an。故a改为an。
2.考查定语从句。句意:你给的礼物不是你所爱的人留下的东西。此处为定语从句修饰先行词something,先行词在从句中作宾语,且为不定代词,只能用关系代词that引导。故which改为that。
3.考查介词。句意:这是对真正需要帮助的人的一种贡献。结合句意表示“对……的贡献”可知短语为contribution
to/towards。故in改为to/towards。
4.考查主谓一致。句意:这是对真正需要帮助的人的一种贡献。此处为定语从句修饰先行词people,先行词在从句中作主语,时态为一般现在时,故谓语动词用原形。故needs改为need。
5.考查冠词。句意:为世界上最贫穷的人选择一份真正有用的礼物,为有需要的社区带来美好未来的希望。gift为可数名词,此处表泛指应用不定冠词,且really是发音以辅音音素开头的单词,应用a。故really前添加a。
6.考查固定短语。句意:为世界上最贫穷的人选择一份真正有用的礼物,为有需要的社区带来美好未来的希望。结合句意表示“需要”可知短语为in
need。故去掉the。
7.考查形容词。句意:这项捐赠将在新的农业方法方面培训整个村庄,并提供种子和简单的农业设备。修饰后文名词methods,应用形容词agricultural,作定语。故agriculture改为agricultural。
8.考查名词。句意:这项捐赠将在新的农业方法方面培训整个村庄,并提供种子和简单的农业设备。equipment为不可数名词,没有复数形式。故equipments改为equipment。
9.考查名词。句意:仅仅多20%的农产品就意味着疾病和健康,家庭挨饿和家庭自给自足之间的区别。此处作宾语,表示“疾病”应用名词sickness,为不可数名词。故sick改为sickness。
10.考查非谓语动词。句意:仅仅多20%的农产品就意味着疾病和健康,家庭挨饿和家庭自给自足之间的区别。分析句子结构可知go在句中应用非谓语动词形式,与逻辑主语families构成主动关系,故应用现在分词。故go改为going。

When
there
are
some
strangers
in
front
of
us,
which
of
them
will
we
trust?
According
to
a
new
study
in
the
online
PLOS
One,
people
make
their
decisions
to
trust
others
largely
based
on
their
faces.
Your
appearance
can
do
a
lot
for
you,
especially
if
you
are
in
the
financial
industry.
The
more
trustworthy
you
look,
the
more
likely
people
will
buy
what
you're
selling.
Researchers
from
Britain's
University
of
Warwick
Business
School,
University
College
London,
and
Dartmouth
College,
US,
did
a
number
of
experiments.
The
research
team
used
computer
software
to
make
40
faces
from
the
least
to
the
most
trustworthy-looking.The
study
said
that
the
difference
between
a
trustworthy
face
and
one
that
isn't
as
trustworthy
comes
from
features
that
look
slightly
angry
or
slightly
happy,
even
when
the
face
is
at
rest.
However,
a
slightly
happy
face
is
more
likely
to
be
trusted.
Researchers
gave
participants
some
money
and
asked
them
which
face
they
trusted
to
invest
the
money
for
them.
Then
researchers
gave
some
good
and
bad
information
about
the
people
with
these
faces,
and
asked
the
participants
again
whom
they
trusted.
The
results
showed
that
even
if
they
got
different
information,
the
participants
didn't
change
their
choices.
They
were
still
more
likely
to
invest
their
money
with
the
more
trustworthy-looking
faces.
Chris
Olivola,
one
of
the
study's
authors,
said
in
the
University
of
Warwick's
press
release:
"It
seems
we
are
still
willing
to
go
with
our
own
instincts
about
whether
we
think
someone
looks
like
we
can
trust
them."

A
disappointed
face.
C.
An

Sarah
Stanley

got
her
findings
after

to

research
in
the
1998
bestseller
The

Next

Stanley
Fallaw
argues
that
resilience
(抗逆力)
in
the
face
of

strict
goal

are
important
to
building
wealth.
"To

Stanley
Fallaw
stresses
the
importance
of
setting
goals
and
sticking
to
them,
especially
for
budgeting.
She
says
that
living
modestly
even
as
your
income
grows
will
allow
you
to
devote
a
greater
percentage
of
your
income
towards

"Most
millionaires
we
interviewed
stressed
the
great
freedom
that
comes
from

Stanley
Fallaw
writes.
The
author
says
that
the
temptation
(诱惑)
to
keep
up
with
the
spending
habits
of
the
people
around
can
be
highly
harmful
to
building
wealth.

argues.

Five
Ways
to
End
Procrastination
Never
put
off
till
tomorrow
what
may
be
done
today.
Waiting
until
later
is
one
of
life's
guilty
secrets,
but
procrastination
(拖延症)
is
linked
to
poorer
health,
work
and
relationship
outcomes.
Here
are
five
ways
to
try
to
remedy
(纠正)
procrastination.
1.
A
five-minute
start
Five
minutes
is
nothing
—
it's
just
three
hundred
seconds.
It's
the
length
of
a
song
or
a
TV
commercial.
Pick
up
a
project
you've
been
putting
off
and
spare
just
300
seconds
of
your
time
to
do
it.___16___
After
a
while,
the
momentum
(动力)
of
beginning
the
task
will
push
you
forward.
2.
Set
goals
and
rewards
During
the
day,
set
goals
and
rewards.
Each
time
you
achieve
a
goal,
you
earn
the
reward:
a
short
break,
a
funny
YouTube
video
or
something
else.____17____Make
sure
you
select
a
time
to
review
your
progress
and
adjust
your
targets
accordingly.
3.
Be
good
to
yourself
—
me
today
versus
me
tomorrow
Sometimes,
when
you
find
yourself
buried
in
work,
you
are
upset
with
yourself
for
not
having
started
earlier.
Imagine
a
conversation,
between
―you
today
and
―you
tomorrow.
___18___
4
I
was
there
—
witnessing
accountability
(责任制)
___19___
Consider
going
on
a
diet:
Is
there
more
pressure
if
you
don't
tell
a
soul,
or
if
you
announce
it
to
all
your
friends,
with
strict
rules
to
follow
if
you
are
invited
to
dinner?
It
seems
an
obvious
way
of
making
you
feel
guilty,
but
it
can
also
be
highly
effective.
5.
Set
creative
punishments
—
negative
consequences
Make
the
consequences
of
inaction
so
unbearable
that
you
have
no
choice
but
to
get
busy
now.
You
could
write
a
note
to
someone
that
you
don't
like.
Give
the
note
to
a
friend
with
strict
instructions
to
mail
the
note
if
you
do
not
achieve
your
goal.
The
more
you
dislike
the
other
party,
the
stronger
the
motivation
to
get
the
task
done.
Procrastination
is
a
silent
killer
of
dreams._____20_____By
understanding
and
fixing
your
procrastination,
you'll
discover
you
jump-start
many
areas
of
your
life.
A.
Everyone
suffers
from
it.
B.
Once
the
five
minutes
is
up,
stop
and
reassess.
C.
Everyone
likes
to
have
a
dream
of
procrastination.
D.
Going
public
with
a
goal
increases
your
support
and
accountability.
E.
What
is
the
future
of
my
life
with
the
intention
of
putting
off
my
tasks?
F.
If
―you
tomorrow
could
chat
with
―you
today,
what
would
he
say?
G.
It's
important
that
the
goals
are
realistic
and
the
rewards
are
in
proportion(按比例).
