Children
are
now
more
likely
to
want
to
work
in
social
media
or
gaming
than
traditional
careers,
a
survey
has
found.
According
to
the
new
research,
many
seven
to
eleven-year-olds
are
looking
at
modern
technology
when
they
think
about
future
jobs,
rather
than
professions
such
as
police
officer
or
doctor.
Children's
career
aspirations
are
often
based
on
factors
such
as
gender
stereotypes
or
what
they've
seen
in
the
media,
TV
and
film.
Around
21%
said
they
wanted
to
be
sportsmen
or
sportswomen,
followed
by
11%
wanting
to
be
teachers,
and
7%
wanting
to
be
vets.
Another
6%
wanted
to
work
in
social
media
and
gaming.
This
was
a
sign
that
there
had
been
“a
shift
in
the
aspirations
of
children,
built
largely
upon
new
communication
methods
and
the
growth
of
online
and
console-based
gaming”.
“For
more
and
more
children
and
young
people,
online
celebrities
and
YouTube
gaming
‘vloggers’
have
taken
the
place
of
TV
and
movie
stars,”
the
report
said.
Social
media
and
gaming
is
the
fourth
most
popular
career
choice
for
children,
while
singer/musician
and
actor/actress
further
down
the
list
at
ninth
and
thirteenth.
“It
could
be
argued
that
this
is
due
to
the
growing
fame
and
attraction
of
YouTube
and
video
blogging
stars,
who
are
especially
popular
among
younger
audience.”
Also,
these
choices
may
also
speak
to
children's
present
worlds.
Many
seven
to
eleven-year-olds
will
spend
their
time
gaming
and
perhaps
simultaneously
watching
celebrity
gaming
bloggers
instructing
them
how
to
do
it.
The
survey
found
that
5%
of
children
who
took
part
wanted
to
be
in
the
police,
with
the
same
proportion
planning
on
becoming
doctors.
A
gender
breakdown
shows
the
top
job
choice
for
girls
was
teacher
(19%),
followed
by
vet
(11%)
and
sportswoman
(9%),
while
for
boys
it
was
sportsman
(34%)
followed
by
social
media
and
gaming
(9%)
and
police
(8%).
This
highlights
the
pressing
need
for
closer
ties
between
employers
and
schools,
to
make
sure
that
all
children
have
access
to
role
models
in
a
wide
range
of
sectors
to
help
them
develop
an
awareness
of
career
options
at
an
early
age.
“This
is
important
to
ensure
that
all
children—regardless
of
gender
and
backgrounds—can
fulfill
their
full
potential.”
1.What
has
contributed
to
changing
children's
career
aspiration?
A.Gender
stereotypes.
B.The
new
methods
of
communication.
C.Their
different
backgrounds.
D.Their
level
of
education.
2.What
do
the
numbers
in
the
last
but
second
paragraph
suggest?
A.Vets
are
disliked
by
girls
as
a
job.
B.Girls
aren't
suitable
for
police.
C.Gender
influences
children's
choice
of
a
job.
D.Sports
stars
are
popular
with
boys
and
girls.
3.Why
do
children
need
an
awareness
of
career
choices
early?
A.They
can
build
close
relationship
with
employers.
B.They
can
work
in
different
sectors.
C.They
can
become
role
models.
D.They
can
explore
their
potential
fully.

Online
shopping
has
become
more
and
more
popular
these
years.
Women
have
jumped
ahead
of
men
for
the
first
time
in
using
the
Internet
to
do
their
holiday
shopping,
according
to
a
study
published
last
week
in
the
US.
For
years
men
have
been
more
likely
to
shop
on
the
Internet
than
women,
but
during
the
2018
holiday
season
58
percent
of
those
shopping
online
were
women.
“It
shows
how
popular
the
Internet
is
becoming,”
said
Lee
Rainie,
director
of
the
Pew
Internet
and
American
Life
Project
group,
which
carried
out
the
study.
Rainie
said
it
was
only
a
matter
of
time
before
women
shoppers
caught
up
with
men.
This
is
because
women
traditionally
make
decisions
about
spending.
Users
were
more
likely
to
shop
online
to
save
time.
Internet
users
between
the
ages
18
and
29
were
responsible
for
some
of
the
surprising
increase
in
the
online
gift?buying
population
this
time
around.
However,
three?quarters
of
the
US
Internet
users
did
not
buy
holiday
gifts
online
in
2019.
They
worried
about
credit
card
security
,
or
just
compared
online
prices
with
off?line
prices,
then
dashed_off
to
the
shops
to
get
the
best
deals.
“But
even
if
shoppers
don't
buy
online,
websites
are
becoming
promotion
(促销)
tools
for
stores,”
said
Dan
Hess,
vice
president
of
Com
Score
Network
Inc.
Hess
said
that
actually
most
stores'
websites
can
make
customers
fully
believe
the
security
of
their
credit
card
numbers.
And
most
are
able
to
ensure
that
gifts
arrive
on
time.
“It's
all
about
making
the
shopping
experience
more
efficient,
more
reliable
and
more
comfortable.”
Hess
said.
4.What
can
we
know
from
the
passage?
A.There
were
fewer
women
online
shoppers
than
men
in
2018.
B.More
women
shopped
online
than
men
in
2018.
C.Most
of
the
Internet
users
between
the
ages
18
and
29
were
women.
D.People
in
the
US
were
more
likely
to
buy
gifts
online.
5.What
does
the
underlined
part
“dashed
off”
probably
mean?
A.Turned.
B.Put
off.
C.Hurried.
D.Take
off.
6.According
to
Dan
Hess,
shopping
online
is
________.
A.unsafe
B.convenient
C.a
waste
of
money
D.cheaper
C
Buying
books
on
the
Internet
is
a
great
way
to
save
time
and
money.
Online
bookstores
offer
new
books
and
used
books
that
can
save
you
lots
of
money.
They
are
far
better
compared
to
traditional
bookstores
as
they
offer
much
broader
kinds
of
books.
Another
advantage
of
shopping
online
is
that
you
can
also
read
the
book
reviews
as
well
as
readers'
reviews
to
get
an
idea
whether
the
book
is
worth
buying.
Online
bookstores
offer
great
discounts
to
regular
customers
which
is
a
big
attraction
for
book
lovers.
For
book
lovers,
the
most
important
thing
is
to
get
books
on
time.
Therefore,
you
need
to
find
a
reliable
online
bookstore
that
will
be
able
to
provide
fast
deliveries
(送货).
Here
are
some
tips
to
use
when
choosing
an
online
bookstore.
Some
online
bookstores
are
popular
for
fiction
books;
some
are
for
non?fiction
books
or
novels,
etc.
Understanding
their
specialization
will
help
you
get
the
right
kind
of
books
in
time.
Check
whether
you
will
be
buying
the
books
from
a
third?party
seller
or
directly
from
the
website.
Although
the
website
could
be
reputable
(声誉好的),
third?party
sellers
advertised
on
their
site
may
not
have
a
good
reputation.
Never
jump
at
stores
that
offer
super
cheap
prices,
as
books
sold
at
such
low
prices
could
be
in
very
bad
condition.
Most
of
the
popular
online
bookstores
offer
useful
tools.
One
tool
is
a
wish
list
tool
on
its
website.
You
can
update
the
list
of
books
you
wish
to
buy
in
the
future.
The
bookstore
will
know
what
you
want
and
will
e?mail
you
immediately
when
the
book
of
your
choice
is
available.
7.Why
do
you
think
online
bookstores
are
much
better
than
traditional
ones?
A.Because
online
bookstores
offer
readers
the
latest
books.
B.Because
online
bookstores
offer
readers
more
kinds
of
books
to
choose
from.
C.Because
online
bookstores
offer
readers
the
lowest
prices.
D.Because
online
bookstores
offer
readers
more
about
their
favorite
authors.
8.How
can
a
reader
buy
a
worthy
book
when
shopping
online?
A.By
comparing
service.
B.By
asking
for
discounts.
C.By
reading
online
reviews.
D.By
asking
booksellers
for
advice.
9.What
do
online
book
lovers
care
about
most?
A.The
speed
of
deliveries.
B.The
author
of
books.
C.The
prices
of
books.
D.The
condition
of
books.
10.The
wish
list
tool
can
help
readers
________.
A.learn
about
the
number
of
the
books
B.get
to
know
more
reliable
booksellers
C.pay
for
their
books
more
quickly
D.buy
their
favorite
books
in
time

you
will
never
go
back
to

days.
The
new
technology
is
just
too

powerful.
Technological

to
do
more
with
less
effort.
__2__
Each

and
new

There
is
no
doubt
that
computers
have
a
positive
influence
upon

surprising.

free
from
some
activities,
but
it
can
also
cut
deep
into
financial

,
personal
privacy
and
our
society
in
general.
The
choice
is
yours,
and
only
through
a
knowledge
of
computer
systems
will
you
be
able
to
avoid
the
dangers
while
enjoying
the
many,
many
benefits
of
the
computer
age.
A.We
have
continuously
looked
for
better
ways
of
doing
things.
B.So
the
computer
is
like
a
double-edged
sword.
C.We
should
have
a
good
knowledge
of
computer
systems.
D.It
extends
the
capabilities
of
our
minds.
E.On
the
other
hand,
the
computer
can
do
serious
damage.

a
bike
or
driving
a
car
is
of
great
benefit.
G.Learning
about
computers
can
be
like
learning
how
to
ride
a
bike
or
drive
a
car.

故事续写(25分)
阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
You
are
in
a
beautiful
place
enjoying
the
landscape,
maybe
fishing,
but
suddenly
the
peace
and
quiet
is

of

Cell

are
everywhere,
but
some
people

are.
As
far
as
I
am
concerned,
it's
just
a
matter
of
education,
good_manners
and
common_sense.
If
I
go
to
a
beautiful

just
like
the
one
I
mentioned,
it
is
because
I
want
to
enjoy
nature.
I
can
do
it,
but
without
disturbing

Nowadays,
that's
the
biggest
problem.
People
disturb
others,
first
with
the

of
their

and
then
with

because
they

in_a_public_place
should
have
to
listen
to
private
conversations.
Even
more
annoying,
you
hear
just
one
part
of
the
conversation.
People
need
to
learn
how
to
use
cell
phones
correctly.
If
there
is
an
emergency,
cell
phones
are
acceptable;
but
remember
that
just
a
few
years
ago
few
people
had
cell
phones
and
the
whole
society
survived!
Nowadays
people
can't
seem
to
live
without
this
kind
of
technology.
They
talk
in
restaurants,
in
restrooms,
in
cars,
in
hospitals,
and
at
parties.
It's
incredible!
But
again,
not
everybody
wants
to
listen
to
other
people's
private
conversation.
It's
like
smoking.
Just
as
people
don't
want
to
be
bothered
by
smokers,
they
don't
want
to
be
disturbed
by
cell
phone
talkers.
Our
society
has
to
learn
to
respect
other
people.
It
would
be
great
if
loud
talking
was
seen
as
really
bad_manners.
The
use
of
cell
phones
must
be_restricted
in
places
such
as
cinemas,
theatres,
museums,
classrooms
and
hospitals.
Nowadays,
people
just
laugh
when
a
cell
phone
rings
in
these
places,
but
it's
just
the
beginning,
so
in_the_future
I
think
things
are
going
to
change.
They
should
get
tickets
when
they
use
them
in
inappropriate
places,
like
people
getting
parking
tickets
when
they
park
in
wrong
places.

Such

New
