Teaching procedure:
Step 1 Warm-up

What’s your hobby
Do you like playing computer games
Today I will introduce a boy to you. His name is Steve. He likes playing computer games too. But recently he has a problem Now let’s listen to the tape recorder and find out his problem. Before we listen to the passage, please pay attention to the new words.
Step 2 New words
Ask the students to read after the teacher.
Step 3 Listening
Ask the students to do this individually, then check the answer.

Step 4 Reading
1. Global reading
Students read the letter and check the true sentences
1. Da Wei asked me not to play the game on my father’s computer. (F)
2. My father has warned me to use his computer. (F)
3. We made quite sure my father noticed something. (F)
4. If you tell him the truth, he won’t be angry with you. (F)
5. If you offer to do some jobs around the home, he will realize you’re truly sorry. (T)
2. Detailed reading
Students read the letter and the answer again and finish Activity 2&3. (First students do them by themselves, then share the answers with their partners.)
3. Problem solving
Students work in groups of four again, try to find phrases in these sentences and discuss together. If there are any problems, they may ask the teacher for help. At last share their work with the whole class.
1. We took the computer game off the computer.
2. But at least, you will prove how honest you are.
3. Maybe you help him with his work.
4. You shouldn’t use your pocket money—after all, your parents gave you that money
5. But my father has warned me not to use his computer for playing games.
